Me and my boyfriend was in at lunch didn’t have a good experience at all we both ordered the bacon and cheese burger didn’t say it came with this burger sauce on top which me and my boyfriend didn't know it came with it so we didn’t end up have the burger at all we just had our chips we ordered and our drinks. we both have autism which we struggle with different foods when we ordered our food the man who served us confused us cause we did mention about the salad etc on the burger but confused me and mentioned about a side salad so we just got pure overloaded 😂but don’t recommend this place if your fussy we paid £38.90 which has gone in bin the guy when we paid did ask us how our meal was but I just said it was okay we felt bad about saying about the burgers but should have said something about the burgers but we know not to go back there!

Bohemian is the word that describes this place. Owner Al is an ex boxer with a light hand on the cuisine. Great breakfasts, good coffee and Sunday roasts plus Home baking. Dog and child friendly and very reasonable. Impromptu music sessions are liable on a Sunday and it’s the kind of place to sit and chill out. But wrap up warm. For those who like a challenge try the belly buster breakfast. I dare you! Newly opened. I hope it succeeds and wish it well. Will. E a breakfast regular and a lunch visitor too.

I’m embarrassed (for the restaurant) to write this review. But here goes… We booked a table for six people for 2.30pm on Saturday. We were contacted at 1.48pm, telling us that they “had a problem” starting their shift (!) and that they would take us at 3.30pm… So we delayed our lunch for an hour. When we arrived at 3.30pm (to an empty restaurant), the waitress was surprised to see us. We mentioned our text which received a quizzical response from her. She then explained that firstly she had just started her shift, secondly the text hadn’t come from her and thirdly the chef had also just arrived. She said that they would “probably” start serving food after 4pm but that there were plenty of restaurants down the road who would have space for us. So we went to Pacos (down the road) and had a really excellent meal. On the way back up the road, we looked into the window of The Bothy and I was (un)surprised to see a couple of tables of customers with booze but no food. Whilst I am hopeful that we might have been served eventually, had we waited for the chef to get his/her act together, I am not certain that we’d have been served this side of Christmas - we’re currently in August - which is a shame since I can’t wait that long (I’m in charge of trifle this year). But seriously, this was bad communication and terrible customer service. Avoid this restaurant- go to Pacos instead!

Just opened last Thursday so small teething problems but I'm sure it will be a great little bar as the staff were very attentive. The upstairs lounge looks great btw. Will visit again when back down.

Extremely poor service, woman with dyed pink hair is very rude, no manners at all and not as a one off, it’s all the time. I always at any costa ask for extra chocolate in my hot chocolate and at every other outlet it’s done without question but she always says it’s not possible, husband had new hazelnut hot chocolate, she didn’t put sprinkles on top and when I asked her for some she just snapped and said they don’t have them. Try and use this costa as little as possible because of staff.

The coffee is great so is the service depending on who’s on can really alter the taste of the coffee not complaining just saying, the cost is reasonable but really you should only go in armed with the app, great place to do some people watching while you sip away hiding behind the window for anonymity. The egg spinach mushroom bap is a surprising favourite along with a warmed chocolate twist

I am aware this cafe is now named “The Highlander” and it’s best to avoid unless you like waiting ages, I was on South Street and saw the balloon arch for the newly opened cafe, I wanted to give it a try having been to Cafe 109 on numerous occasions! I walked in to see 2 members of staff, one member of staff manning the coffee machines and one man (no name badges) on the main counter, not once did either of them look up to greet me or say hello. After what felt like an age the male looked up at me and said “hi” to which I replied back with a hi and then asked for what I wanted - I asked for a simple iced latte (£4!!!) and a bottle of water. He looked at me like I was talking in tongues, which had me questioning what on earth did I say? He then demands I “talk slower” which I must say I was talking perfectly normally, the girl on the coffee machines didn’t really step in to help either. Then, no word of a lie, he calls over another male member of staff (about 15/16?) and hands him a £2 coin and then sends him to Tesco across the road to get ice! I understand it’s their 1st day opening under a new name/team but that was absolutely unacceptable. So if you like to wait long periods of time, come here. I won’t be having a recommendation to friends.

The most unwelcoming horrific, Hostile place I’ve ever wasted my money on in my life. Bar staff utterly horrific and aggressive, cannot believe how bad we were treated and never felt so angry in my life. Good luck to you when you are closed down and joining the dole queue. You don’t deserve to share my oxygen you utter vermin.

Can’t quite figure why folks opt for Greggs, but the locals seem to love it. Greasy buns with sausage patties and hp sauce, or squished egg and cheese. Like an egg muffin but reheated meats and egg. You have to be in a big rush to choose this spot over a fast food place. It is, in fact, faster than fast food. And it’s cheap. But if you’re at a motorway service stop, go ahead in and have the full breakfast, take a little time for a decent meal.
