We arrived on a late ferry from Oban and drove through the dark on single lane roads to get to Dervaig. Lucky for us we had programmed the location in our GPS because signal on the island is spotty at best. We arrived exhausted and hungry and the staff at the Bellachroy took excellent care of us, even letting us use their landline to contact our BnB. The food was excellent, the ambiance was super friendly. Our waitress was the best, and we laughed so much with her and the customers in the next table.

Ignored by staff. Was interested in picking my own assortment, but ended up with pre bagged. Small pieces, but perhaps that is better. Larger would be too much. No where near the Belgium quality. Nice local shop, so happy to support. Not sure if it's worth returning. Supermarket sweets are better.

Jan catered for our retreat group last week. The arrival of her dishes was always a delight and one of the highlights of the day. The menu was fresh, interesting, varied and packed full of flavoursome local produce, with gluten free options available. The beetroot, butternut and broccoli lasagne was a personal favourite, but baby langoustines in a Thai broth and Roast Hogget were also memorable. Jan's afternoon cakes proved to be irresistible!

We called in here for lunch. There is car parking to the side. We chose soup with freshly baked bread, a cheese scone, a feta cheese salad, and a smoked trout open sandwich, plus tea and coffee; £41.00. The soup and bread were great, and the salad was super-tasty! We sat at a picnic table in the courtyard, in the sun - lovely! Clean lavatory.

I’ve stayed here a number of times when in Oban. Location-wise it can’t really be bettered, being right in the centre of town and 2 minutes from the ferry terminal, major bus stops and railway station. The building is nearly 120 years old and has been knocked around in that time as customer preferences changed. That’s evident in some slightly odd room shapes/sizes and an uneven floor in places. To my mind, this adds a bit of character which you won’t find in a modern hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable even if the furniture and carpets show some signs of wear and tear. I wouldn’t call the breakfast ‘high-end’, but there’s a good choice and the coffee is plentiful. The lounge downstairs serves good value meals and is a pleasant place to watch the world go by. It’s frequented by locals and visitors alike. Being a popular seaside town, prices in Oban fluctuate with the seasons so rates at the hotel will vary but should be pretty competitive. A number of other reviewers mention getting a better room than the one booked (assuming there’s availability). This has been my experience too. All in all, this is a good mid-priced option if you plan to stay in Oban.

Avoid is all I can say. Cheap for a reason, food is appaling. 7 of us ate here tonight. One order was wrong, chips were cold, steak cremated ,asked for it medium, & full of gristle. Buttermilk chicken greasy & tasteless & has made my daughter feel sick, just hoping it's the grease & nothing worse. Both pizzas awful. Never a lover of Wetherspoons but this was beyond awful

The door was opened by a female staff member who said very abruptly ‘I don’t do dogs’ she then turned her back on us!. It was pouring down and not possible to sit outside.
