We called in here for lunch. There is car parking to the side. We chose soup with freshly baked bread, a cheese scone, a feta cheese salad, and a smoked trout open sandwich, plus tea and coffee; £41.00. The soup and bread were great, and the salad was super-tasty! We sat at a picnic table in the courtyard, in the sun - lovely! Clean lavatory.

We enjoyed the cheese scones and the homemade soup in a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the cafe. Then also enjoyed the art gallery and sculpture trail. Some of the sculptures are quite old and beginning to return to the earth maybe but a beautiful wood and it was fun looking for the sculptures despite the rain!

Open Friday evening for the first time ........ and it was superb. Sit back and enjoy amazing, friendly, attentive customer service, a great selection of sharing plates using local produce and assembled 'with a twist', a fair selection of drinks and live music (ask for a table near the back if this is not your thing - low ceilings!). Excellent food and service at a very reasonable price. Take friends, relax and enjoy - the best visit to this establishment in over 30+ years

I never miss a stop here, beyond lovely Calgary beach's white sands.Cakes were so good, it was hard to choose. Banana and chocolate chip loaf looked excellent but sold out before I could order.Blueberry and lemon cake was an equal to it, great flavour. My husband's Victoria Sponge had a little too much vanilla flavouring in it for my taste but he enjoyed it. Just a delightful wee place to be.Soups and other food looked very good too. We'll be back.

Arrived just after 4 today for a coffee & cake. Asked for a latte and was told they had already switched off their coffee machine so effectively closed. Left with nothing and won't return during the remainder of my holiday. If you close at 5 customers expect hot drinks. Maybe update your signs if you now close at 4pm and shut your doors - wasted journey.

Stopped off here after walking through the sculpture park and down to Calgary beach. It was nice, a good selection of cakes (and also doorstop size). They had 3 members of staff behind the counter and one girl was just standing chatting, felt they could have been a little more productive and efficient to speed things along as we were queueing for quite some time.

You don't expect to come across somewhere so cool and modern in such a remote location. It reminded me of the sort of eateries you get back home in Harrogate. The coffee and walnut cake was so moist and the best I'd ever tasted. Interesting display about the building's history and conversion at the back of the cafe. Highly recommended. (You have to pay to go on the art trail, by the way).

We stopped here for lunch by chance on a day trip around Mull. Although the Tripadvisor listing is for the Carthouse Gallery, the business now seems to operate more simply as 'Calgary'. We’d originally planned to stop in Tobermory for lunch but having spent 3.5 hours navigating clockwise from Craignure around the stunning west coastline of Mull, we were ultimately lucky to have been forced to slow down behind a group of cyclists who were heading up the hill at Calgary and that’s precisely when we spotted the tea rooms and decided to call in. Having walked around Tobermory later in the day, we were even more chuffed with ourselves for having made the right decision even if it was in part indirectly thanks to the cyclists. The Calgary Tea Rooms are just along the road from the beautiful beach at Calgary, which has white sands and turquoise sea. The tea rooms are part of a business that includes self-catering properties, an art gallery and a gift shop. There is plenty of off-road parking. All of these facilities are in a lovely quaint characterful setting that exudes quality and a genuine care for how things are done and presented. Inside, the tea rooms have lovely exposed stone walls, which gives you a nice cosy feeling. Outside, there is a lovely courtyard area with seating. We had a panini, scone, brownie and drinks, which were all delicious and very good value for around £15. The service throughout was excellent and very friendly. When you’re eating somewhere so rural in Scotland, you sometimes end up feeling that some things could have been better but given where you are, shortcomings are justified given the challenges of operating in such a remote location. Not so with the Calgary Tea Rooms, everything was absolutely first class and our visit was something we’ll remember from our day trip to Mull. Highly recommended.

Art in Nature Cafe - I hope this is the same place as we only saw one cafe. This is close to Calgary beach which is a lovely white sandy beach along the coast road. There is also an icecream stall just at the beach but it is only open from 12-4pm. The cafe we visited had many works of art around it and a walk that could be taken to appreciate some of it. We decided on cake and coffee to shelter from the ‘summer’ weather. It was warm, dry and welcoming inside. The service was table service which was such a nice thing to have in a cafe - I have found this to be rare in the UK. We ordered the lemon drizzle cake which was sensational and coffee and hot chocolate - both excellent. There was tap water and jugs to help yourself - another nice touch. It was quite busy despite it being only 1115am - people had arrived for lunch already - the menu choices looked amazing and I only wish we were staying closer. Thankyou so much for the service - it was lovely.

We went here for the art, not the tearoom. The art is outdoor sculptures in a woodland setting and a very pleasant hour or so it makes too. Not wheelchair accessible unfortunately and you'll need stout shoes since it can be a bit muddy after rain; but the sculptures themselves are interesting. The map is not as clear as it could be, but helps. Charge is a very modest £2. Tearoom pleasant enough. Art experience is ****.

The food excellent. My concerns are unisex toilets, I don't think so, I'm a 56 year old man, following two you girls in to the toilets, I felt extremely uncomfortable so I came straight out and had to wait. What in earth is that about. I report a burst pipe that is dripping on the slate steps returning to the dining area only to be told yes we know, with a shake of her head here is your tea sir. Very poor indeed, I would rethink the unisex toilets.

We stopped here for lunch after visiting Calgary beach close by. It was the best meal we had during our stay on Mull. The food was absolutely delicious and full of interesting ingredients and flavours. We have one fussy eater who enjoyed her ham and cheese panini and said it was the best ever. The rest of us made the most of the varied options - a beautifully handmade flatbread with hummus, olives and feta, a generous savoury tart with salad and coleslaw and a sea trout on rye bread. All four plates were emptied. We took home cakes as we had no room - delicious chocolate cake, unusual Turkish coffee and pomegranate cake and excellent flapjack. The cafe itself is beautifully fitted out in a great location and I would say the food was extremely good value and we would have paid more for such great quality and attention to detail.

For sake of clarity this is a review about the Calgary Tea Rooms which form part of a little enclave which also includes self catering accommodation, an art gallery and a sculpture trail - all marked on the map as Calgary Art in Nature which is listed separately on TA.There is parking on the opposite side of the road which leads down to Calgary Bay nearby. The café is bright and modern with seating outside in the courtyard (where there is a sculptured basking shark) and there are quite a few tables indoors. There is some artwork displayed on the walls for sale however the main gallery is in a building just behind here. In our experience the cafe was a busy place. The menu consists of soup, paninis, a few food platters and cakes. Coffee, tea, wine and some beers are available. They also have some local produce for sale in their fridges which would suit if you were self catering. We had some soup which had a slightly different combination of ingredients but was nonetheless very tasty. I’m not sure why there was a delay in it being produced (would have thought it would already be made of course) but perhaps there was a mix up behind the counter. The cake and coffee was also good and our bill was around £17 for two. It’s worth a look around the gallery next door and to have a wander in the sculptured trail which has views overlooking Calgary Bay.

I must agree with the previous contributor......it is very difficult to find anywhere on TripAdvisor to post a review, so I too have gone for this in the hope the owners might read it as we were overall quite disappointed in it.Yes, the location, view, etc is simply stunning and the owners apparently like to be Eco- friendly, but when the under floor heating is not easily adjustable, the advice was to open the doors and windows......letting the heat escape. It was so hot inside we were uncomfortable all week. We couldn't open the patio door, or else the dog would have escaped as the garden is not secure. Open doors and windows equals midges in.....and they were about. No microwave despite so many comments in the visitors book (do they ever read it?) meant no porridge.....not good! Instructions for wi fi code was out of date and I only picked that up by reading a review in the Guest Book from March 2013. This is important as there is no mobile phone signal available here. The fridge is not nearly cold enough; milk went off four days before its date. The upstairs bedroom was lovely, but the 'artitistic' mirror reflected from my waist down. Drying my hair meant I had to be on my knees......not good at my advanced age! We didn't see the owners all week apart from a whistle stop handing over of keys and an attempt to get the heat under control. I really did get the impression they were far too busy to see us. Oh, and a pair of scissors would be a good addition to the kitchen. So sorry to write a negative review, but just a few adjustments would be so simple to improve it.

We visited here following a walk and to see what the place was like, as we stayed here several years ago, when it was an excellent hotel with a wonderful menu, and lunches across the courtyard. For one of our party, the ice cream bought was out of date and tasted so. He was able to look at the date, but children or some elderly people may not be able to, and one trusts that food etc will be in date if on sale.He returned it to the staff who apologised and willingly replaced it with another. All well and good...however tonight he has felt poorly with a stomach upset...on a holiday. The lesson from this is that staff should check items to ensure they are well in date, and if they aren't then they need to be discarded.

There doesn't seem to be anywhere to post a review of the self catering part of the Calgary Farmhouse so am posting this here.We and another family stayed in the Hayloft at Calgary last week and very much enjoyed it. The house was great for a group of that size, with a huge king sized room downstairs with a third bed in it that was ideal for the girls in the group, and two doubles and a twin upstairs, all en-suite. There was plenty of room in the kitchen and a lovely dining/living room and a 'snug' to spread out in. The garden was huge, plenty of room for games and for sitting in the evening (not too midgy, which was a bonus). The stunning Calgary Bay was a short walk (500m or so) downhill through pretty woodland filled with artworks. The Hayloft forms part of what was the old Calgary Hotel, and there are several other self-catering properties on site, plus the cafe/gallery, so it's a fairly busy place and maybe not ideal if you want complete solitude, but it was silent at night.A bit of nit-picking - the website and information sent before our visit could be more helpful and informative; the kitchen wasn't the best-equipped we've experienced (you'll need to bring everything with you, including basics like milk, sugar, and a decent knife); the king-sized bed downstairs could win some sort of prize for being the most uncomfortable I've slept in; and we'd have to concur with some of the other reviewers' comments about the staff in the cafe, who were indeed a pretty miserable bunch and quite rude, but we didn't use it much so this was not a particular problem.Overall, a superb base for exploring the North of Mull. Tips - go on a wildlife tour with 'Discover Mull' who are based just down the road; a trip to Staff/Lungha is highly recommended - the puffins on Lungha are quite magical; Langamull Beach 3km away is very different from Calgary but much quieter and just as beautiful; the village shop in Dervaig is very well stocked and had we known that, we might have brought a bit less food etc with us and brought it there instead.

This puts the can of pop up to the £2 mark - a rip off that only Mull establishments seem to get away with. However the surroundings are always nice, the woodland walk is fantastic so go & judge for yourselves

The tearoom is part of a gallery and outdoor sculpture trail operation on Mull's northwest coast. Drinks and food ingredients are heavily slanted towards the 'organic', but don't let that put you off – the food is good and well presented, even if the prices carry an 'island' premium; Mull is very much dependent on deliveries from the mainland, so paying extra is standard in pubs, cafes and tearooms. Our party enjoyed carrot cake, Victoria sponge, a tub of locally produced chocolate ice cream and lemon drizzle cake, which we all enjoyed, especially the generous cake portions. Calgary with its protected white sand beach is delightful and the landscape and wildlife of the area are shown off to good effect in the art displayed on the tearoom walls. But all this prompted us to question: why, in the midst of all this natural beauty and good food, were the staff so uniformly unsmiling and apparently miserable?

Close to the lovely Calgary bay and the sandy beach this was a perfect stopping place for afternoon tea. Lots of delicious homemade treats to choose from- we chose chocolate and courgette cake..yummy!!You can sit inside the gallery area or in the courtyard....and the loos were spotlessly clean. If you are in the area it's a treat not to be missed!

We had lunch here and enjoyed a very hearty and beautifully made soup in a lovely setting with tea rooms, art gallery and a sculpture trail on the same site (which we didn't have time to do). I believe there is also self-catering accommodation available.PS Could do with a new cafetiere as we found coffee grounds in the otherwise excellent coffee

Ordered a guinness it was terrible tasted sour reported it. Pipes need cleaned The trainee Barmaid maggie wasnt interested charged me another pint when i asked for stella. You cant pay for food, and drinks all at once as she gets confused if you put 3 pints behind the bar. To much for her .Her attitude stinks when i says i will pay now. No go to the cash machine.. I wont be back i was a paying customer her attitude is shocking

We stopped here on a cold and very windy day. Cafe is a bit small, but the cakes are scrumptious and the hot chocolate was perfectly chocolatey, delicious and warming which was just what was needed. Coffee and tea also was great. The two ladies who run the cafe are lovely and bake some really delicious treats. They have a small shop too full of pretty stuff. Will definitely be coming back here next time I'm in Inveraray.

Such a beautiful location with lovely staff but unfortunately the worst meal ever. If a chef cannot make macaroni then it's a big no from us. Pasta and water would have been more apt. Feel sorry for the waitresses working there having to serve such bland inedible food. We are not complainers but felt the need to. The waitresses were so lovely and engaging but even they could not make up for the inedible food. Will definitely not return
