It is Costa in Heleburgh, coffee and cake, nice people, the Grey Pound makes the difference.

Was it Helensburgh or Costa that made this particular lunch outing so "Meh" ? I'll never tell...

Super friendly and helpful staff. Busy vibe. Could have better vegan choices, but overall a very nice cafe.

Oh dear - I'm sure Mr Costa Coffee at head office wouldn't like this franchise. We chose this as it was the least smelly coffeeshop in Helensbrugh, but it still had a little smell. My partner was off to an interview and didn't want to smell of the other greasy coffee shop in town. On the surface, this looks like the place to be. It was busy and all the tables were occupied, which presents itself as "the most popular in Helensburgh", but this success has made them lazy. If you did find a table is was filled with dirty cups and rubbish and it seems no-one cared. The floor needed a real good scrub and, for a tiny town like Helensbrugh, I'm sure there are quiet times so there isn't really an excuse. If you visit Costa Coffee in, say, London, which is a much busier City, their floors are spotless. Just saying. Anyway, the coffee is good and the cakes were correct but the atmosphere was not at all relaxing. It was like sitting in a train station at rush hour, with dear old ladies squeezing past the back of your chair, kids screaming and it wasn't at all very well lit (Probably to hide the dirt?) However, I felt that this place was a 4 star place, but only for this town. If this franchise had serious local coffee competitors it would score a lot lower, and wouldn't score at all in a city. All in all it suits Helensburgh.

A very good cup of coffee, at a reasonable price and Helensburgh's answer to their Starbucks rival in Dumbarton and Glasgow. Like most coffee shops and cafeterias in Helensburgh, nothing changes with the same quality and price. . . ☕👍🏻👌🏻

A very busy time to visit with pre Christmas customers. Despite this, the staff worked extremely hard to keep the queue moving and we were served great quality coffee quickly. The staff were super friendly and efficient, keeping tables clean and clear despite the volume of people passing through. The toilets were clean and easily accessible. A great Costa, with really great staff.

Had a good coffee break here during our short visit. Service was friendly and well organised given how busy the shop was. Tables were cleared and kept tidy and there are plenty of toilets which were also clean and tidy during our visit.

I came today 2nd visit as came other week and partner given wrong milk I'm my coffee and didn't check till we drove away. Told girl today and she was very friendly and replaced and said sorry. 2 girls managing a very busy costa and working hard to clear tables, make coffees and manage till all with lovely attitude to customers .

Normal Costa model, coffee and standard food products. Good coffee but could do better with the food which tends to be mass produced, tasteless and over priced COVID track and trace on entering but not enforced service tragically slow due to tills failing

I stopped here for an early coffee and croissant. Great service from the staff, very helpful talking me through the track and trace with my mobile phone. Coffee was excellent, I had chosen large- it was huge! Coffee and croissant was £4.25. This was a breakfast deal and set me up for the day.

Went to get a hot chocolate with my friend, only to have to pay extra for the same drink and also receive spoiled cream on top which smelled vile.

Visited costa with a friend, who first of all ordered the same as me but was charged 40p extra, the cream on hot chocolate which we paid more for, was sour and definitely tasted off.

Usual good coffee you expect from Costa but why does it take so long ? There wasn’t a great queue at all just slow service

Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our visit to Costa Helensburgh today. We were very assured by the systems in place. On our arrival we were met by Jack who was very kind and helpful and keen to ensure people had a pleasant visit. Thank you Jack and all the staff at Costa Helensburgh.

Every nice place i like to go first thing in the morning and have some time to myself since its quiet and not to busy during lunch time it gets really busy sometimes but the staff are very hepfull and friendly its the best coffe shop in helensburgh were you can sit and rleax for a wee bit and there really good at keeping the place clean during covid 19 outbreak would recommend to anyone which just wants to relax and enjoy a nice soft drink or hot drink

The girl at the counter was very welcoming and the service was fast and good, but I was surprised to be told to log onto their track and trace system, to leave my name and contact details, using my phone at my table. How many people would not bother, or simply do not believe it is necessary? This is a worry as the success in fighting COVID stems not only from hand washing, social distancing and face coverings, but on effective track and trace systems too. The quicker an infected person is identified the quicker the number of people they were in contact with can be advised and quarantined, which limits the effectiveness of the viral spread. Thus, the staff should be completing these details for every customer and nobody should be served before giving their name and contact details. My rating is due to the lack of COVID control.

Tables were not clean need a deep clean and more .I was told not to move the chair ? how was I supposed to sit down it was a very tight space. I will not visit again plenty of coffee shops in Helensburgh

Despite other customers giving the staff abuse when they are politely asking for covid compliance, we had a brilliant service. So professional and friendly plus great coffee! Ailsa, the manager, runs a tight ship and some people need to be patient and curteous.

Overpriced coffees and food. I complained that the coffee seamed very bitter or maybe the milk was overdone, they did replace it but second one was no better

This Costa was closed for refurbishment earlier this year. Looked really clean and tidy when it reopened. I have coffee/hot chocolate and various cakes and buns at least once a week. No complaints about the drinks or cakes etc, but unfortunately things have gone downhill rapidly with everything else. I was in this week and, as is becoming more and more the norm, several tables had trays of dirty crockery on them. The floor was scattered with crisps, crumbs and screwed up napkins. The area where the baristas prepare everything was a disgrace, with debris all over the floor. The ladies’ toilet area wasn’t very clean either; pieces of loo roll and napkins dropped on the floors. Have to blame some customers for being so messy. Can’t they clean up a bit after they or their children have made a mess at their tables and leave the toilets tidy? Seems to be a large staff turnover and customers have a long wait in a long queue while new staff work out where everything is. Maybe Costa should invest in an extra member of staff to clear up the tables, fill and empty the dishwasher and keep the toilets clean. Remember, Helensburgh is a town where lots of day trippers and coach tours visit. There are lots of other coffee shops around a lot cheaper than Costa, so pull your socks up!

Went in on my own for a quick cuppa and Pannini, when asked what I wanted I handed the pannini over and ordered my coffee. Two people in front of me waiting for their drinks, girl at till asked a male member of staff to help girl on the coffee’s as she was struggling to cope, the boy then made my coffee and put it on the tray that had my pannini which was ready a few minutes before, my tray was behind the Lady’s tray who was before me waiting, no attempt was made to politely say to me that it was ready to lift as it wasn’t moved over to where they normally put it. After a minute or so and not wanting to barge in front of the woman in front of me still waiting I asked politely if I could lift my tray if it was ready? to be told, yes! It is ready! Was made to feel awkward! Then had to watch as a young couple had to wait to get a prime seat at the window 3:50pm till the boy cleaned around it, leaving the cleaning materials and stacking chairs to get finished. More customer care needed here!

Costa is a brand that my wife and I quite like as the hot chocolate is normally good (we don't drink coffee or tea) so having more locations open up locally has been a great thing but do they maintain the usual standards we are used to?This shop is always extremely busy so getting a table is not very easy and every time we have been in we have seen a lot of tables that have not been cleaned up when they have been vacated. The queues are normally fairly long and as they have tried to fit in as many tables as possible those waiting for their drinks can make it so that the tables towards the rear do feel closed in when you have people stood around you waiting for their drinks (something we have had often).The cakes are standard Costa cakes and the drinks from our experience have been on par with the other locations we have visited previously.

We visited recently and had a bacon roll. I don't know if they were put in the oven at the wrong setting but when they came the roll was very hard and crispy and the bacon wasn't much better. I love Costa but this place seems to lack the lustre that the others have. The staff didn't seem to know what they were doing when taking orders, the drinks were getting mixed up as they were going back in the queue instead of serving the people at the front and then moving on. The place was busy, hence the reason I didn't bother going back inside to complain about the rather awful bacon roll. A big disappointment!

Visited Greenock as a cruise stop, Costa is our preferred coffee outlet so looked out for the familiar sign. Very friendly service coffee great and ideal to catch up on the emails with free WiFi. You can always rely on Costa 👍🏻

Think there was a new type of coffee being trialled during our visit, but it was bitter, and not very strong - not impresserd by the long queues and slow service either.

This has to be the worst place in Helensburgh now , I used to enjoy going here on a regular basis not anymore ,have been three times in the last week it’s dirty unfriendly and the wait is too long ,staff act as if they would rather be anywhere else than there.At least 20 other customers also walked out in the half hour that I was there , this was after I had waited 15 minutes for my order. Also tables never get wiped and the floor and carpets never cleaned have decided won’t go back now

I visited this establishment at 8.45.on Friday 21 December for tea and breakfast .service was slow as the staff chatted to the 4 customers in Front of me .when i hit to be served. I ordered a English breakfast tea and the ultimate wrap cost £5.05.i we t go put my jacket and bag next to a seat .i was told i would need to come back up to pay first.the tea cup was dirty inside I took it back and was given a other dirty cup. The member of staff looked at several cups befire tge finding a clean one .the ultimate wrap was very small and served on a plate that was worn and dirty looking pics attached. Not impressed and will never return

Staff always helpful and friendly use Costas helensburgh whenever I am in the town what I love iscfact that staff get to know you and certain staff remember the drink that I specifically like to order.

We were a group of 9 people this evening and had hot chocolates for drinks. We had an assortment of large hot chocolate with mallows, small hot chocolate with cream, then the majority of the group had the child size hot chocolate that only cost 50 pence. That was ok but a child with us thought it was more of milk and could barely taste the chocolate. So the target market of this 50p drink must be to kids of 6 and below who wouldn't mind so much how not chocolatey their drink was. Then we ordered 2 luxury hot chocolates that came in the same size as the 50p hot chocolate cups. It looked like thick sludge. We expected it to be bitter and strong but what came out was an aftertaste of something sour. It was awful! That cost us £2.65 I think. Wherever did they get that luxury chocolate they should stop buying it! We couldn't drink it. Our other friends kindly topped it up with their own regular hot chocolate to change the awful taste left on our pallates.

An average Costa, not the best, but certainly not the worst I have been in. A noisy environment, so had to speak up to be heard by my companion. Close to the central cross roads and well placed for the Railway Station.

A good Costa in Helensburgh. I had two cups of the Twinnings breakfast tea and two glasses of water. It also has newspapers to read. It is welcoming to the members of the armed forces as two soldiers were in the cafe when I was in. I assume they are based or are training at Garelochhead Army Training Camp. The Costa in Helensburgh is on the main street in Helensburgh on which the railway station also is situated.

Dirty kitchen area, even in the morning. Why is there never consistency in this Costa ? Sometimes okay but today terrible. Training must be the issue as in Nero- coffee is always excellent. Took my coffee back as it was tasteless- no apology- just a chore to remake it.

I have been a few times obviously I love the coffee, very friendly environment.The staff are very helpful friendly and I like how they remember what you usually order. I definitely raccomend it loads of choice in drinks and food.

Coffee was nice. Lots of tables not cleared when we visited. Obviously a few of the local mums were in for their wee chat with their kids and not bothering to keep them under control or quiet. Place became very noisy.

I always use Costa coffee shops for one-on-one meetings with clients or mentees. This one is easy to find, reasonable parking and clean toilets. Coffee and cakes according to Costa standards. Only little complaint is that the acoustics are bad. A place where people meet to chat should have some noise dampening on the walls or ceiling.

First off - I like coffee and especially Costa coffee. Therefore wherever I go I am on the lookout for a branch. The branch in West Princes Street is very well positioned. Apart from the usual Costa coffee one can have teas, lunch items and yummy cakes. Why not partake and watch the world go by. Helensburgh and Costa coffee - what's not to like.

We got caught out in the rain and popped in here for a coffee and a hot chocolate. It was warm and comfortable with very pleasant staff and swift service.

Visit here on a regular basis. A good place to hang out with friends. Gingerbread Latte is gorgeous and there is always a great selection of cakes and sandwiches.

Was a regular in this branch, but decided not to return due to the unhealthy atmosphere caused by a customer using an e-cigarette. The coffee is very good and the staff very polite and friendly, but this does not make up for being forced to inhale second-hand vapour. I won't be back!

Popped in on a Sunday morning in early December 2015... Amazed to see quite a long queue despite it being quiet everywhere else. 3 staff behind the counter, not really interested in customers, chatting amongst themselves, completely uncoordinated and no interest in actually serving anyone..Manager turned up, some kind of poster in her hand, completely ignored the long queue, spent a few minutes messing about with sellotape, then wandered off.The queue hadn't moved so I walked out at that point and went to Humbles about 100 metres away and got a very nice Americano. Sort it out Costa, these people are damaging your brand!

OK, So we all know Costa, it is more about the inside, staff etc as the coffee pastries etc are the same all over. However this Costa does sour milk drinks, basically the Barista just has to stare at the milk to turn it sour! Used to be good here, however OMG have the Staff become grumpy,moody uninterested in customers etc. I would rather drink coffee in hell than here, infact maybe here is coffee hell

Usual Costa high standards means staff properly trained as Barristas.Can be a bit slow clearing tables on occasions.

Fantastic to find a Costa's in Helebsburgh as apart from the buffet shop around the corner the town is a culinary and coffee black spot.

Love this coffee shop, it's always fast paced and busy but you don't feel rushed. Good drink and cake optons. Staff are lovely super friendly and helpful.

I went in last Sunday while the boss went for a look round town,I'm a regular Costa all over the UK but this one has to rate as the worst experience of all. The staff refused to serve drinks in crockery initially saying the dishwasher was broken but eventually declaring that they don't have time to wash dishes "cos we're on our own" with an attitude like barista Petra has I'm not surprised. The whole store was filthy, tables and floor littered with debris, hand drier in the gents not working...I could go on but I know from past experience that complaints fall on deaf ears with Costa! Best advice is give this one a miss you have plenty of choice for coffee in Helensburgh.

Served by x2 female staff who clearly have no interest in their job. Found it appropriate to complain at how long they had left at work and practically threw my drink across the counter. Worst staff ever.

With so many choices to have coffee in Helensburgh now, Costa need to up their game .. Service is often bad..they don't listen to order and it's often repeaed to you wrongly. What is more annoying is they rarely smile. Edith is particularly grumpy and sullen. Smarten up your act or work somwhere else and give these jobs to people who know what customer service means - and know how to smile!

Either not enough staff or bad organisation - place is disgustingly unclean, tables not cleared, food on floor.

Not a huge fan of Costa, but this one it awful! Can get a better latte from the bp in Dumbarton! My advice walk the extra 5 feet and go to the river-hill!

Ok, ok before anyone says it, and yes, yes, yes it's part of the big chain marching across our country..........but, the service, the baristas, the buzz of contented chattering and most of all really good coffee makes it well worth a visit.Normally I don't rate Costas as anything other than ok, and definitely not on here, but I was in "town", needing a Wi-Fi to surf car dealers from Helensburgh to the East end of Glasgow, and Costa in Helensburgh fits the bill.Cheap coffee, excellent service, sometimes a bit of a wait for a table, that's no bad thing, and never more than a couple of minutes. Coffee is always consistently good, ok the cakes and snax are the usual in these places, always the same no real creativity, not local, not value, (and I'm not allowed any nowadays as the waistband keeps threatening to expand to 36" !)That's not why we go here, free Wi-Fi, top notch coffee, nice surroundings and in and out quick as required sells it for me every time."Flat White" for me please.
