Costa Coffee in Argyll & Bute

It's not often I go to Costa and today reinforced that. The queue was 1st indicator. The guy doing the serving was on a go slow. Eventually, a female took my order and money. But he served it up with no words or eye contact. I truly apologise to him for daring to go in and get a coffee. The other chap meanwhile made as much noise while his non verbals indicated he wanted away, ASAP. In all , awful. Terrible experience while paying good money.

The desserts are good. I don't understand this obsession with giant cappuccinos.

This might be the slowest Costa ever. Since there is no other option they don't care. If you want to buy anything from this Costa, make sure you have plenty of time to waste. And they were rude too!

Very friendly and efficient staff. It was very busy but I didn’t feel rushed to give up my table. Quite a pleasant experience. I would recommend this place.

Incredibly friendly staff and an excellent Americano ☺️ Special thank you to the wonderful man at the till who helped me figure out my change. I felt a bit silly taking so long to pick out the right coins, but he was so patient and kind. Very much recommend stopping by if you're in Oban!

What a great welcome! I have come in here a couple of times during my trip to Oban now and both times, the service has been great. The staff are friendly and warm and the drinks and food really nice. I asked one of the guys for directions, but he wasn't quite sure. About 5 minutes later he came back, having checked and gave me the directions I needed. As someone has said you always know what to expect when you come into a Costa - this one went above and beyond! Thank you Lesley

Not for the first time, I was ridiculed by the barista serving me. I asked for sweetener upon which he pointed at me and said that was a ridiculous amount, then got another customer involved. It the 3rd time now and I'm too embarrassed to return. He was an older person, bald with English accent, new this year to oban costa. The last time I was in he complained about making my drink as it “took to bloody long!”

Standard costa. , with very friendly and amusing service. No complaints whatsoever , you know what to expect from this chain.

Great place to have a coffee before the ferry. A wide choice of different types of coffee. Very smiling, very friendly staff :)

Costa, quite a good Costa. Used them a couple of times while we were visiting Oban, and also when waiting for the Ferry to start boarding.

Before I ordered o was asked if I mined them cleaning around me as they were closed shortly, not happy at being asked this as I was in for a relaxing hot drink. Also extremely overpriced slice off cake which tasted of nothing, £9.50 for one hot chocolate, slice of cake and a fruit shoot, will not be back

Unbelievably awful .I have never, in 70+ years NOT enjoyed a coffee and a bacon roll. The previously cooked bacon roll I had to take out of a "hot" shelf to be warmed up, |t tasted of nothing, The bread roll - awful. The latte was tasteless, barely warm, and just disgusting. So disappointing. A very good friend sent me a Costa gift card for my birthday which I used for this treat. Now I am wondering if they don't actually like me at all. A horrible experience. This Costa cafe is in a town renowned for it's fresh produce and good service. This just does not fit.

Was very busy but Guy and Lee were very efficient and service was great. Cappuccino was perfect.

Called in today just as they were about to close. Great welcome from Guy, the manager. Kayleigh made me a delicious hot drink with oat milk and altho I know they would be so keen to close up as they'd been the only staff on all day they couldn't have been nicer. I love going to independent coffee shops but happy to use the big brands when the service is this good.

The Salted Caramel Latte was delish' , but as always in a Costa ( regardless of where you are ) there's always a queue, and it's getting more expensive.... but worth it 👌 😊 This Costa however was a bit bleak … for whatever reason ALL the coffees served were in paper cups. I must admit to ‘ not being a fan of paper cups ‘ … plus, I’m not sure if it was because of the time of day, a lack of staff or something else, but the tables & window sills were littered with paper cups …. It brings the whole place down.

Costa coffee is a place while in the UK. Good coffee and sandwiches. This one happens to be understaffed which I why I rated it lower. That will change day to day. Overall a good chain coffee cafe with good selection.

Horrible customer service, went with my son on the 14th of September at 4:45pm and the Justin Bieber wannabe with the face all over his face had no problem on interrupting the making of our coffee, that he has already ringed up on the till to start chatting and making a take away coffee to one of his friend that was leaving the place. Really disappointing. Costa shouldn’t tolerate this type of behavior from a careless employee.

The Oban store seemed short of staff & was very busy but the staff did an excellent job keeping the queue going quickly. Staff very polite & would recommend to all.

Large que but when I got closer I began to see why. This place is highly under staffed and far too busy for 2 guys alone. Never the less they carried on and apologized to those of us who were sitting in as there was no more coffee mugs left. Good staff going above and beyond to keep the place operating. Coffee was nice and facilities good with free Wifi and toilets

Slow service, dont allow dogs, and no outside seating. Not very in the spirit of the rest of Oban.

Busy place with amazing people who never seemed to run out of patience. The coffee is consistently great.

What a disaster!!! Waited 40 mins, not even what I would call busy. Then Got my drinks wrong!!! Staff not organised , not doing drinks in order either! Asked for a refund in the end. Should take lessons from Fort William costa.

Excellent as always! Poor staff coped with being under staffed as well as they could.

We went to the Costa after a nice wild life boat trip. The Costa was very welcoming. The coffee was hot and strong. The chocolate tiffin and the salted caramel cake were a nice addition.

This guy is aggressive and shouting at customers, he wouldn’t last 2 minuets working for me that’s for sure, Even the other staff are looking at him and pulling their face, Buck your ideas up and learn some manners and respect customers

Always good, coffee, food and prices

One of the larger outlets. Comfortable seating with plenty of room between tables. I had a latte, and it was as expected of Costa, hot and of good quality.

I love coming here. Neatly positioned by the train station, the ferries and the High Street, the window seats are nice and you can watch life go by. I put food at 3 stars because generally chain companies can't easily compare to local delicacies, especially in Oban. Staff are so lovely, always seem happy and okay to be there.

Bought two lattes and cakes from here while in Oban on a short break. Unfortunately, the lattes tasted like dishwater, weak, no coffee taste whatsoever, and virtually undrinkable. As I have a Costa App and regularly use Costa around the UK, this is by far my worst experience.

Staff very pleasant and helpful. They waited for me to find my phone and locate the Costa App to obtain my Costa points. Coffee lovely too with a Christmas snowflake on top of my coffee.

It was fine but I would much prefer support a local independent coffee shop. Rockfield Centre is a 5 min walk from Costa and has an excellent cafe with a kids play area and superior coffee using milk from Wee Isle Diary (Isle of Gigha) . Plus the centre is community run. Costa itself wasn't a great customer experience. Staff don't seem to want customers beyond 4pm despite 5pm being closing time. They ask everybody who is sitting in with their coffee to leave at 4.30pm. They are more concerned with chasing out paying customers than (for example) ensuring it is only paying customers that use their toilets. people barging past those waiting to collect their coffee order so they can use toilets and then leave again without buying anything. Go to rockfield centre for coffee - you won't regret it.

Great location by ferry terminal and train station. Coffee is good, and we had Marks and Spencer porridge with fruit for breakfast- amazing! Friendly staff, even when busy. Gingerbread latte also excellent

We called for a coffee as we were shortly going home on the train. I ordered 2 lattes from a rather drab looking waiter who took my money and didn’t say thank you. I took them to the table and sat down, took a drink and it was hardly warm and tasted very weak, you could hardly taste any coffee. My wife had one drink and left the rest. If the young lady can’t make good coffee, and the waiter can’t use any manners, I suggest they hire someone who can, it’s not the only coffee house in Oban. I did however point this out to a bearded guy who was collecting from tables, who did apologise. I called at 3.30, 28th September 2022, if anyone is interested. I won’t ever use a Costa establishment again.

Really nice breakfast🍞🧈☕️. We decided to pass by Oban in our trip through Scotland. We had really good service by Petra as she assessed us really good specially when we were asking for a hot drink for a child. Just if you are with children, there is an option called babyccino that is hot milk with little cacao. Amazing for them!🫶 Toasts were really good. They come with two slides with butter and jam! There is a breakfast deal if you want to get benefit of that option.🤙😎

I've never seen a Costa coffee shop so devoid of products. Asked for 6 items, didn't have any. Blamed their head office in Glasgow for the lack of supplies? Come on people, get this sorted out!

Went in here on a day my friend and I were exploring Oban. Nice view out to the water and palm trees. Drinks were lovely as usual for a Costa establishment.

Lovely friendly service. As we were about to sit down outside a member of staff came out with treats for the dogs. Refreshed the waterbowl and even put some ice in...

Bra kafé nära stationen i Oban. Här fanns både drycker samt smörgåsar och bakverk som passar bra ihop. Personalen hade lite svårt att hinna med avdukning och att hålla ordning men för övrigt var allt bra.

I was in there on the 18/6/22 with my son we travelled up from Middlesbrough we really liked the tea and coffee and it was at a really good price only problem was getting into the toilets.

I Have tried twice in the last year to sit down and enjoy a coffee at my leisure and on both occasions i was met by a rather unfriendly and rude staff member who swiftly said = No sitting in! Take away only, the place was quiet with a few other customers still sat in the place which i pointed out. I was then told they were closing at 4pm but it was only 3:30pm at this point...i went on from there to another venue in town where service was friendly and without problem.

Great Costa to sit and relax, the staff were polite, prompt and well presented. There are customer toilets available.

Luke warm 1 was meant to be caremel hardly any taste staff was very pleasant though just the coffee that was a big let down I left 3 quarters of mine it was that bad

Pretty much what you'd expect from a Costa. Enforcing the non sensical covid rules strictly I.e. asking people to mask up and not move the furniture.

Coffee is alright, locks on toilets, so if you don't keep receipt you can't get in

Decided to pop in for a hot chocolate before boarding the train home. Cafe had quite a few empty tables. We sanitised our hands and waited to be seated...and waited and waited, while two waitresses practically ignored us. I eventually stepped forward and asked a waitress if we could be seated. She abruptly asked if we had sanitised then took our contact details. I then asked if it was table service or if I ordered at the counter. Joined the queue at the counter and ordered. The hot chocolates and carrot cake was brought to the table. Both were very nice though a bit on the costly side compared with other places we have visited. Lovely little cafe with a good selection of food but service could be better. Not exactly a friendly Scottish welcome.

6 or 7 tables left with dirty dishes, staff still serving customers and nowhere to sit with a clean table. Now only doing takeaway with dirty dishes lying everywhere 🤯

Some people don't understand that staff members sacrifice their family time and take their child to the store while cleaning up. Sometimes the kids sacrifice is the only way the store can trade for a certain time. If anybody feels it's unfair on the kids: yes, I agree! Costa is recruiting constantly, feel free to apply online. On the other hand: thank you very much for all the sacrifices the staff and their kids have to make in order to serve customers. They are all amazing.

Got there at 17:00 and found the store closed despite the sign saying it closes at 18:00, also a child was playing inside. Very unprofessional and disappointing.

We had coffee here recently and as always great coffee. Felt very sorry for the staff as the customers do not make their life easy in the present circumstances, some trying to avoid hand sanitizing or wearing masks.

As always. Excellent service. Great staff. Despite being very busy. We were served quickly. Tables cleared and cleaned as people left.

Opening hours reduced to 10-4 but you’ll only see this on the door, not online. Takeaway only for some reason, and a 10 minute wait for drinks despite a queue of only 3 people meant we swerved and headed to Hinba Coffee instead.

Empty antiseptic dispenser on entry. Never been in as slow a coffee shop. It took them over 10 minutes for the three staff behind the counter to serve the 3 people in front of me. They weren’t any quicker with me. Avoid and use one of the local cafés.

It's okay, can't have one socket area in the whole of Costa

Very busy and very disorganised

Visited for breakfast this morning at 8.00 and was told they are not doing porridge at the moment and they had no bread for toast. Ended up having the last two teacakes. Also, no NHS track and trace so had to go through the rigmarole of signing up to their own. Staff were very nice.

Came with my family and dog. As soon as we arrived a staff member brought the dog a biscuit, and some water in a cup. Fab staff service and fast delivery of food . Had a great day.

Having coffee in Oban today. Orders are being taken at the till faster than the drinks can be prepared, this results in a large number of customers standing around awaiting orders, orders missing items. There are signs telling you to keep 2m apart , but...

Not the most exciting of buildings but the usual Costa service food and drink. Staff an absolute delight. Sat outside which was ok but not the best place. Good for a quick drink / lunch

Despite table signage saying do not sit if table not cleaned, people were just moving trays from table to table. Staff not clearing and cleaning the tables. More worried about the app than keeping the place Covid secure. Did not feel safe and will not...

Bought a large latte, hot chocolate & a cappuccino, the cappuccino was half full so I went back in and a guy was sitting at a table on a computer, I said excuse me I bought this 2 mins ago & it’s half full, he huffed slammed the computer shut, marched upto counter & threw it on a table smashing a jar behind him & raging as no one came quicker to clean up, he then made a new drink, baring in mind he never said one word to me , he then said handing me my drink sorry about that, hope you enjoy your drink how many sugars would you like !!, he caused an atmosphere in the shop and the place was busy too, mind blowing !!
