Really good food, really friendly staff. You can tell somewhere is good when the locals go there regularly which seems to be the case with Quirky Bird Cafe. Would highly recommend sitting outside and watching the world go by why you eat your food.

Edit: Thank you for your detailed response. It's reassuring to hear that you do know a lot about coeliac and to know a detailed account of what measures you have in place to avoid cross contamination. Coeliac reactions are quite severe and my body has only started to return to normal again now, two weeks later, so it sucks that it happened. But I do understand the difficulty in making sure everything is completely separate and safe, especially on a busy morning rush. If I was to come back, is there anything I should have done differently to make sure everything is safe? Old review: Nice place but not very allergen-friendly. As a coeliac, it always brings me great anxiety to find places to go out to eat, but this place seemed to have a good gf reputation. Unfortunately this was not my experience. The waitress serving us seemed to be knowledgeable about allergies and when I asked if cross contamination would an issue with their gluten-free meals they assured me that since my allergy was written on the order it wouldn't be a problem. However, when my veggie breakfast came out, my toast looked suspiciously similar to everyone else's, so I asked one of the staff if it was gluten free and it wasn't. They were nice about it though, remade my meal and took it off the bill. Although in their haste to remake my meal or perhaps just out of habit for non-coeliacs who just have a gf preference, I suspect that not all the precautions were taken, perhaps they put my gf bread in the same toaster as the regular bread or something because I left the cafe feeling extremely nauseous. I hope that this was just an honest mistake, but perhaps refresher of cross-contact and food allergy safety is necessary here.

I arrived late, however the staff were incredibly patient and helpful in helping me check in. They even let me leave my luggage with them for the day after I'd checked out. The rooms were new, well-kept and clean, and the Tavern is only about a ten minute walk from the station. Overall, this is the best value accommodation you're going to find in Penzance and I highly recommend it!

We were having a walk along the prom and needed some lunch, saw a sign directing us over the main road which took us to this lovely cafe. Unfortunately due to the C word it was take away only, we ordered 2 cream teas and in 2 secs we were back on the front on the nice new seating overlooking Mounts Bay. The scones were top class and in our take away boxes we had a knife and very generous pots of delicious strawberry jam and clotted cream. Well worth crossing the road for and everything looked delicious we were torn between the home made quiche and vegetable soup but as it was our last day chose the cream tea. If you’re in the area cross the road and support this lovely little shop, hopefully when we visit next year we can sit in but if not with views to die for who cares!

Hats off to 45 queen st! I went for a meal with my mum and can honestly say it's one of the best meals I've had out, for so many reasons. Firstly flavour, we chose 3 dishes and every one was creative, so fresh and bursting with flavours. The sort of food you slow down to eat, savouring each mouthful. Secondly the wine, it's was all delicious. Then the puddings, we had the chocolate cremaeux and the honey possett. So creamy, so tasty and the perfect finish to the meal. I can honestly say I felt like I was having a holistic experience! And to top it all off the prices were really fair. For the quality of food and drinks, which felt like fine dining in a really relaxed, Informal setting, the prices were so bang on. So I didn't leave feeling like a had a hole in my pocket from a really inadequate meal. ( Which seems to be becoming the norm in other places) I felt like I had the best dining experience eating fabulous food in a wonderful setting! Well done for the thought that has gone into 45 queen st and the love. It's not table service as such here, so can be a little confusing at first, but once you get into the rhythm and work out where you order and how much to order between you. (Shared plates are commen) Then it's wonderful!

We had cycled down via Mousehole - around 55 miles and were looking for somewhere to eat. Wanted to put the bikes near us (very expensive machines) for I presume the owner to basically turn us away. Not a polite sorry guys - more of a foxtrot Oscar - pretentious wannabe.

After visiting my home county of Cornwall in Penzance, I wanted what all Cornish men yearn for a real Cornish pasty so I bought one from a shop that has been trading for 20/30 years and what I tasted was the biggest disappointment I’ve ever had (total rubbish) disgrace to all Cornish pasties, so the next day I went into the deli called the Cornish Hen and bought another pasty and wow it was the best I’ve ever had in Cornwall so I say to all you people who visit Penzance and want the best pasty going visit the Cornish Hen in Penzance you won’t be disappointed
