We had rather a disappointing visit to Maria China today. Given, it was coming to the end of lunchtime on a busy Saturday but when we ordered a tuna baguette (£6) a cream tea(£6) two milk shakes (£4.50 each) a tea cake (£3) and a pot of tea we felt like we were really inconveniencing the owner. The tuna baguette had the tiniest amount of tuna scraped over it, the scone had just been micro waved and the portions of jam and cream wouldn’t have satisfied a mouse. Such a shame, as great location. The poor chap who was working there looked deflated and the owner had had a bad day by the look on her face.

Stumbled on this place today after a walk on the coast path. We had whitebait, baked egg and tomato bread, and a chorizo and black bean stew. Then we had a Pastel de Nata each. It was all beautifully fresh and tasty and the coffee was also great. Can't wait to go back - if you're near Pendeen it's well worth a visit.

Popped in for coffee, when in Penzance and raining so decided to go local and stop for a coffee. Well prepared for the social distancing measures. Lovely coffee and options for sandwiches. They make their own range of chocolates which is displayed on one wall and you must buy a little something there is some amazing works of art and special made. To tempt you they serve a drop with the coffee and was lovely and simply had to buy a bar. Recommend and lovely service too.

Situated in Penzance main street, Market Jew Street, this little cafe is a real gem. The owner is Maria (Portuguese) and together with her family runs a very friendly and unique establishment. Maria is an Artisan Choclatier and makes the most unbelievable chocolate in the most amazing designs. You can just pop in to see the chocolate with no obligation to eat or drink in the cafe but you will be so fascinated by the chocolate on display that you will be tempted to stay for a drink or possibly a snack. The latte and hot chocolate (with cream and marshmallows) are the most delicious I have ever tasted. Call in and see for yourself you will not be disappointed and you will be made very welcome.

Great coffee, available for eat in or takeaway (and we buy the beans and use them at home as well!). Cakes are delicious, particularly the biscuit cake if you have a sweet tooth! Sandwiches also fab although sadly the hummus version was not on the menu this time. The chocolate is also delicious! Definitely worth a visit for coffee and cake or a light lunch!

Took shelter from the rain during the lunch period. The food in this place was amazing. It’s amazing how so many places can get a lunch so very wrong but this place served up warm artisan baguettes with a variety of fillings. The customer service was top notch and they make their own chocolate for sale too. We left very happy. I’d recommend this place to anyone and will be back on our next annual holiday.

We were passing, and in need of a hot drink. We were surprised to pass this cafe, and to find it open. We went in, and had tea and a coffee and some Portuguese custard tart - excellent. The menu was very enticing, but we'd not long before had a large breakfast. Would definitely return next time we are in this part of Penwith.

It wasn't clear to me from the street signage that this place has a connection to Lisbon: the tram looks more lime green to my eyes than eléctrico yellow but nao faz mal because inside it's mostly about chocolate, & the whole café smells of it!

Okay, it is chocolate heaven, the chocolate gingers we bought for Christmas are lush. But’s it’s more than that; it’s a quiet oasis in Penzance where you can sample a lovely coffee (I’m a coffee addict and I should know), a Portuguese cake, Portuguese soups (caldos), the 5 bean is especially terrific, or a carefully prepared sandwich. The service is great, they always have a smile, and I love that you get a little chocolate star on your saucer with every drink. It’s a nice touch. But even if you don’t want a coffee, you simply MUST go in and see the chocolate on sale. It’s in the form of superbly presented bars, lollipops, designer shoes, teddy bears, surf boards, and a whole lot more. You can’t visit Penzance without visit Maria Chicas, it just wouldn’t be the same.

Our usual coffee stop was closed (Bank Holiday) so we hopped across the road to Maria Chica. Bright little coffee shop with air con! Cheery friendly greeting from the two ladies. We spied the Pastel del nata and ordered coffee alongside. Both were excellent. The pastry was crisp and light with wonderful custard filling and coffee good and strong.

Lovely little shop. Popped in to buy some birthday gifts. Treated myself and my daughter to a treat. 40p bag of sweets for her and two little chocolates from off the counter for me. £1.74 for the two chocolates, rather expensive. Not sure id go back, feel I was ripped off a little which is a shame.

Maria Chica is a small café and artisan chocolate shop on Market Jew St in Penzance. We were thrilled when it opened and have become regulars. A simple coffee menu, but really tasty blend (Caffe Carrero) as well as Portuguese cakes and pastries (I'm working my way through them and the coffee and biscuit cake might well be the best cake I've ever had), sometimes hot cheese bread and chorizo bread out of the oven - divine. What's on offer is always changing. They also do simple lunches.

Whilst having a stroll around Mousehole we came upon the Orange Cafe Bar by chance with it being up a lane just away from the harbour. We did not immediately realise it was a vegan cafe but that was not an issue for us. The staff were warm and friendly, explaining the dishes so that we could make an informed choice. We went for the burger (patty) and cake, both of which were delicious. People often shy away from eating this type of food but on this showing they should give it a go, which saw two diners leave very happy.

I have been here four times now, its become a thing whenever we come to Newquay, tattoo before I go home. The staff are incredibly friendly and always chatting away when you're there. They make you feel like part of the family. It's clean, tidy, always smells so good woth the cakes and coffee, I always feel like I'm home when I go in.

Very good B&B in a very central location. But it is very expensive so 'value for money' comes into question. Very good cooked breakfast served in the mornings but for the money it should provide freshly squeezed orange juice.

We found our way to Freathy Farmhouse Cafe by following a sign from Whitsand Bay. What a lovely find! Very rustic and charming cafe. We sat outside in the sun and enjoyed very generous sandwiches served with delicious salad. Some of us even managed cake! We will definitely return although I understand it is best to check opening times. Ps Loved the decor in the loo!
