Loved the food, feeling of the place. So beautiful inside. Loved the books on display to read. Coffee is delicious, sour dough bread toasties are so tasty with a delicious side salad! But the prices for some things such as the cans of kefir as super expensive and the cakes also are expensive. The carrot cake was lush though!! Loved it overall 🥰 wish there were more open places like this to hang out and eat great food

I found this venue very expensive and not good value for money. £18 for a Stew which was mostly carrots was very disappointing and ordering was a total faff.

Our favourite spot in PZ - drinks, atmosphere, staff and food are all phenomenal. My only suggestion would be to add a few extra dishes to the evening menu as it can be quite repetitive if you’re going regularly for dinner.

Almost but not quite. Good location, atmosphere, and friendly staff. Best beer in south west. Food is aspirational but misses the mark - bouillabaisse lacked depth and roast potatoes needed a lot more crisp & crunch.

Very large portions. We went for "light bites" to leave room for the delicious-sounding desserts but they were so big that we were stuffed and only had room for coffee. We had the hummus and flatbread, french onion soup and roast potatoes to share. All the were twice the size you would normally expect. All very tasty (although I think new potatoes should always be boiled, not roasted). Nice coffee using beans from Yallah too. The inside is surprisingly large and looks like a converted barn. If we lived here we would definitely be regulars.

First time for us. Very busy with a nice bistro-like atmosphere, big tables and lots of shared space. Good menu choices and easy to order at the bar. I had the vegetable soup which was excellent and my partner had the mackerel with flatbreads. No flatbread for use even though subsequent diner were supplied with same. A small mackerel fillet (with bones) on a small brioche bun with a leaf and some pickle. All this for £16! Very, very disappointing and barely worth half the money. My soup came with two tiny pieces of bead, for £9.50. I can't believe that this place is as busy as it is; holiday-makers with more money than sense and unlikely to return. We live here but won't be back.

Service was strange, our 'Starter' and 'To follow' all arrived at the same time so we were denied the opportunity to loiter over the delicious cold starter in order to get to the hot main course, also fantastic. First of all, there are no breading or bread-crumbing (I’m not sure how it is correct to call this thing on cod in “fish-n-chips”) on too of food, no deep-frying fries, so thank you for that! Finally, I have got a chance to it something extremely delicious and at the same time healthy and even boiled🙏🏼. Unfortunately, we were hungry, the food was amazing and staff gave it to us so quickly so I just forgot to take all punctures. So look at the fresh oysters:))) We ate mackerel, a lot of oysters, beetroot cured eggs and spring stew with added fish. I highly recommend everything! Eat high quality and healthy food 💪🏻

Popped in for dessert and a drink and were delighted by the airy interior, convivial atmosphere, and friendly service. My friend had a delicious vegan ice cream and truffle. Less successful was the Burnt Basque cheesecake which would have made the chefs of San Sebastian shaking their heads (it was only 15 mm thick). Otherwise the food we saw being served looked very good, but it is definitely pricey. A dark beer would be a welcome addition to the drinks menu. We can see ourselves giving this place a second try. Really really REALLY good food. Lovely owners , who care about what their doing. In the off seasons call before you go make a journey , they may not always open at times shown on google maps. *Revisiting this in 2023* Place has changed with pluses and negatives. No more table service , you seat yourself and order at the bar. I actually like this way of doing things - in a busy London restaurant it makes sense - but here (?) you’re paying £££ and it takes away from the experience. Food prices have gone up (as they have everywhere - so no problem) but the prices here have gone up too far. This restaurant used to be based on sharing platters/ plates and now the food is mains / sharing plates but it’s not very clear. Mozzarella and squash with a seed cracker was £15 and would at a push serve 2 people. So the food costs more and the portion sizes vary. £10 for flatbread ? I appreciate that the food is organic, locally sourced and ofcourse everyone needs to make a living but I don’t think the prices match the portion size and general vibe of the restaurant. Oh and they don’t take cash which is a HUGE minus for me!

The interiors of 45 queen street is very appealing, we all thought it looked great. However we were very disappointed by the staff, no warm welcome and for so many staff members we didn’t receive a hello or any smiles. We actually thought they were very grumpy and unhelpful! We were not informed on where to order our food, get cutlery or that we had to get our own water etc. It’s put me off returning which is a shame. I love the ethos of the menu being as local and organic as possible but food was only very basic, only 1 out of 4 of us were happy with our meal. 1 of the meals even came to the table with the main ingredient being replaced which we had not been informed on at all! Disappointed as we all had high hopes! I would be back if customer service was better, seemed way too slack!

Finally an exciting menu, void of just the usual suspects, but full of innovative and interesting cooking! The food is grand, don’t be scared to try something new and push the boat out, because everything we ate was divine. The summer stew and fish was especially good. The whole place gives off farm yard vibes, with honest food and a down to earth style, exposed kitchens and bars to go with it. It’s a big open space, loud and full of life, with sustainability at its core. There’s a deli selling all the things you’d expect it to, great for a cheeky browse to pick up something to take home and for a little something extra, a pasty maybe? Theres a bar with a great variety of wine and other drinks, and even a little corner with a chess board. Service was a little wonky at times but always with a smile, and things are priced fairly when you look at the bigger picture. The mackerel cicchetti was divine, so was the broccoli with Basil bean purée. They would be my recommendations. Don’t know how this place only has 4.4 stars as of writing this, should be a lot higher and I think in reality, recent reviews would agree 😁

The food and atmosphere is incredible. I used to love coming here, so much so that my partner and I wanted 45 Queen Street to be our wedding venue. There were red flags from the start, it taking weeks for them to reply to any emails sent. We gave them time for their response as we knew how busy they were. We were contacted by the owner for a phone call and we’re told to contact again after renovations. We did this and met with the owner to discuss ideas and we’re told again to give them another month to get their website running. Six weeks later I messaged the owner to ask about planning and dates but have heard nothing back. This has been since November 2022. We came to the decision that if communication was this poor then trusting a wedding would be risky. We were very disappointed and unfortunately probably won’t return for food and drink again as the restaurant makes us feel quite sad. For food and drinks the place is wonderful but for anything more I think kinks in communication need to be sorted.

This was a wonderful surprise and the first of two shockingly good suppers my wife and I had during two nights in Penzance. The menu is very much designed to order and share multiple dishes. One reviewer seemed not to realize this. All of the dishes we ordered were incredibly fresh and it was evident that the menu changed with the ingredients in a very organic way. We had oysters that tasted like the sea breeze smells. Beautiful carrots and sugar snap peas that were crunchy and addictive. And a roasted celeriac large plate with "Parisian bistro butter" among other things. I'll spend decades trying to recreate that butter sauce! The cocktails we tried were thoughtful versions of classics and delicious also! Highly recommended. Five stars!

Absolutely wonderful visit. The cream tea was the best I think I’ve ever had. Warm scones, huge pot of cream and delicious jam, must be homemade. The tea was piping hot and came with an additional tea bag should you like it strong.

Haven't stayed, but excellent range of well-kept cask ales including normally a couple from Penzance Brewing Co in Crowlas, near Penzance.

What a gem! We had no idea where to go for lunch but chose the shed; a great choice! The steak was so good and the sole cooked to perfection. Great wine, appetisers and dessert to boot. Fantastic value and the service was great Thank you so much.
