Great service, delicious food and top notch beer menu

Had a few visits here and I’m really pleased it’s established itself in the town centre as a good beer and food option. Loads of different beers to pick from and a good variety of cocktails. It’s located on fore street sandwiched between the castle and the union pubs (it’s easy to miss because it’s just a doorway), and it’s got an American dive bar vibe to it. It’s quite pricey, but this is to be expected in central St Ives. Cool spot for just a drink or to grab some food - recommended.

Nice environment and good atmosphere - even though it was a rainy October Tuesday night. Food was really good. Great selection of beers. Definitely worth a visit.

We went on our holiday last week, as we did a year ago hoping the food would be as amazing as it was in 2023. Sorry to say service was bad, food was not good. My partner had the wings . I advised him not to eat them and send them back as they were red( not cooked through) near the bone. He was violently ill that evening . My chicken burger was tasty enough just the chicken was very dry. Really disappointed . We sat down for 6pm. The service was very slow, we didn’t get a menu for at least 15 minutes . The restaurant was not busy….. When we finished our meal ,again we waited at least another 15 minutes . No one came and asked if all was ok during the meal either. Expensive food without the quality . Shame

Great atmosphere, warm and friendly staff! The food is delicious with huge portions! Only problem is that we are always too full to attempt a dessert!

We ate here on holiday & couldn't recommend it enough. My husband is coeliac and was reassured the food was cooked in a separate frier and area of the kitchen, it came out with GF flags. We shared chicken wings, a burger, fries and chicken tenders and it was all amazing. The wings were by FAR the best I have ever eaten in my life & satisfied a craving I didn't know I had been missing out on since being gluten free. They also had a can of local Cornish gluten free beer that my husband really enjoyed. The staff were friendly and kind. They also offer bluelight discount!

Good Food and a reasonable price

A great range of food and good to see so many options for vegans and vegetarians. A great drinks menu as well Service was quick and the food delicious. The servers were very friendly and accommodating and even offered to hold my baby for me so I could eat which was very kind of them. As a new mum it’s nice to get a meal that you’re not eating stone cold or one handed! Would definitely recommend and I must come back for the frickles

The lovelylist place IV eaten in a long time. Service was brilliant the food devine cocktails were gorgeous I'm gluten and dairy intolerant and so great to find somewhere to eat that was bang on. So impressed

Went there today and the food and staff were excellent. The food was great and my partner who is gluten intolerant was catered for so she could eat the same. Good value for money. Cocktails to die for. If you're gluten I highly recommend it

The first restaurant we visited in St Ives and probably our favourite. Relaxed atmosphere, great simple food and craft beer. The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars is because we had some confusion over starters, the waitress took the order but the manager then told us that they don’t do starters and all food will come at once, which it did. It didn’t spoil the experience…

What an amazing restaurant.👏🏻👏🏻 My sons has quite a few allergies and they we're amazing even fitted us in after a bad experience at Cintra Seafood Bar!! So thanks to the blonde lady who fitted us in she was very professional. The food was lovely and the portions were really good for the money. The waitress was really lovely and helpful I would have like more of a crip on the top of the mac and cheese but was still tasty

Food was nice. I think the service could've been a little better, also it's quite dear compared to a lot of other places which I think is the downside of it. Obviously it's catered for the holiday makers who have no choice 🙄

Amazing food and service. The burgers are awesome, the vegetarian options are brilliant! My husband is a vegetarian so I often shy away from suggesting places like this but he was keen to go!! My Son keeps talking about his amazing burger and my daughter has been raving about the 'banging' tenders!! We loved out visit!

Quick stop for some wings and a drink. Enjoyed the food though I like my wings well done and these weren’t. Big mention to our waitress who was amazing and very helpful.

Hhmmm do not believe the previous review…. I went here after about 6 months as a local and all I can say is flipping great!!! Simon and the guys got us sat at the bar had some amazing drinks and the got to our table within 10 mins ( after purely walking in!!!). O.G burgers are phenomenal as is the vegan options. St ives brewery choice is as good as you’ll find at their tap room ( everything available!) as well as Verdant. Whole experience was really good and I’ll be recommending anyone to have a great evening there in the future… Thanks guys!!!

I’ve come here and raved about this place to anyone that will listen for the past 2 years. Unfortunately not any more, visited last night 3 out of 4 off us left most of the burger and it was hard and unpleasant, no coleslaw as normal and the trays have gone replaced but individual small plates. Chicken wings were amazing last time - this time … bland. Maybe the chef is new? Definitely no where near as good as usual. So disappointing was planning on having food here a few night over out holiday but will be going elsewhere. No one asked of the food was okay during our meal or if we needed more drinks and it was dead. Seem to cram any customers to the front on the uncomfortable seat rather then the tables at the back.

Since I'd visited this place a few years ago I'm afraid this restaurant has gone down hill slightly and my food was too salty. Be careful of extras also not worth the money. Preferred it when they sold chicken pieces and not just burgers. Update: My 2 teenagers loved the burgers, however the Wings were very poor, not crispy at all, too soggy. As per my last review I'm afraid this restaurant is very disappointing and could do a lot better. There are better places to eat in St Ives

We went on our last evening of our holiday. As we walked in we noticed the specials board. They were offering a Mac Daddy burger: a chicken burger, Ranch slaw, pulled chicken and Mac 'n' cheese. It was one of the more expensive burgers on the menu at £16. That is the price for just the burger. Chips and all sides are ordered and priced separately. We ordered a portion of chips (£4), a portion of the hot honey chicken wings (£12 for 4 wings) and a burger each. I ordered the Mac Daddy. When it arrived, the pulled chicken and Mac 'n' cheese were only luke warm but the chicken burger itself was nice and hot. I asked the waitress if she could just ask the kitchen to pop it back in the microwave for a minute. The waitress (Tegan), told me it was company policy to cook a fresh one. I was quite happy with it being warmed up but she insisted it would be cooked fresh as a priority. When the burger came back, there was no pulled chicken and only 2 pieces of Mac 'n' cheese left inside the burger. They had in fact reheated the burger as it still had the bit missing that I had tasted, but left out the bits that were cold in the first place.... Baffled! Tegan then came back and asked how my burger was and she couldn't have been more helpful. She apologised and insisted that the meal was taken off of the bill, along with the service charge. The food I did eat was delicious and I would go back again, it's just a shame that this time, they didn't deliver quite what I had ordered to a good standard. I am a manager of a pub and would hire Tegan in a heartbeat, she completely made our visit. 💖

had tenders, wings and two soft drinks which came to about 40 (36 without the service charge) the sauces that come on the tenders were pretty good however I didnt notice the Sriracha under all the mayo but I still enjoyed it, the staff were kind and welcoming, and the decorations have alot of charm and personality to them definitely recommend if you're a big chicken person

ive been here a couple times and it never fails to impress me. i got the buffalo wings (boyfriend got the frickin’ tenders) and they were perfect, i normally dont like eating wings so i was glad that they were enjoyable. this is the first time ive been here just me and my boyfriend so when it came to paying, it was a little more expensive than we thought it wouldve been but that was because of the service charge that we werent told about when we first walked in but other then that it was wonderful, staff were so friendly. the way they decorated the restaurant with the signs and everything i found really cool aswell. i would definitely recommend this place if you love chicken cos they do it best

Good food and service very prompt

We were excited to find a place that did gluten free options.... disappointed at most. Service lacked any friendliness and any attention from waitress was slow at best. Food arrived .... all looked fine , child's chicken burger was soooooo crispy it could never be eaten by a child , had to remove all crispy bits. One adult burger was very thick and very underdone... red and bloody thigh meat, understandable thigh meat is often not white not but this was clearly not cooked, sent back and were told it would be taken back to the kitchen , we then sat for 10 minutes and no one said a word..... no apology..... no one said if they were even replacing the food. We had to ask if the food was even being replaced . It did come back and we were told in no uncertain terms the chicken had been probed to 83 degrees and was certainly was more crispy than the first chicken ??? Has the makings of a nice bar but lacks any service and food quality. The highlights were chicken scratchings and the drinks - the margarita was lush . One waitress was friendly and once complained the guy behind the bar was understanding . honestly for£115 bill wouldn't return

My Husband and I came here twice for dinner during our holiday to St Ives last week. The restaurant is clean and well organised. The service was wonderful. We were greeted by James, who was just amazing and made our dining experience so much fun. The food was delicious! The margarita I had both times was excellent 👌 Would highly recommend eating here. Will definitely be back!

Lovely place. Great selection of beers (Slipway IPA was my fave) and delicious food. The chicken is tender and juicy and the best fried chicken I've had in UK. Not greasy, just delicious. Fries were delicious and the sweet potato fries are perfection. Definitely recommend.

While the service was good and the place seems cool, the chicken was dry and I feel like that's the one thing a chicken restaurant should get right. The flavours were good and the K-Pop burger was tasty but my jaw hurt from eating the chicken "tenders" as they genuinely were really dry.

We arrived without a reservation and we were placed in a table at the back and told someone would come to take our drinks order. We waited, saw a couple be seated at a nearby table and their drinks order was taken after a few minutes, and still we were waiting for someone to come to us. Eventually I had to go and order drinks directly at the bar. We ordered vegetation food which was nice. It was just the service that let this place down.

A great little gem of a place off the beaten track away from the hoards of tourists! I've wanted to go here for a while. Recently visited and had one of the cauliflower 'burger' alternatives. It was delicious, and that's coming from a meat-eater! The fried pickles are also worth trying, but note the dip is not vegan. Service was very friendly and good/drinks came out quickly. Will be back again!

Been coming here every year since it opened but the service and food quality has gone massively downhill over the years, very sad to see! Used to be one of our faves but there are so many better places to eat in St Ives that stay consistent. Place was empty yet took 45 mins to get a coke and water. Chicken fillet in the burger was rock hard like it had been there all day and re-fried at a price of £16 and the loaded fries were cold and an absolute rip off :( won’t be returning

Bitterly disappointed. Having visited every year since coming to Cornwall we were really looking forward to our meal. Terrible burger with barely any chicken and a very thick and crunchy batter. Very disappointing this year and doubt we’ll return

Located very well. Food was above average, burgers were nice but the buffalo wings slightly undercooked and not the spiciest. A new waitress on today who was excellent and attentive. This place has major scope but needs a managers touch.

Honestly the best chicken wings (k-pop)! I was looking forward to them from the year before and they did not disappoint. Beers good do with a bit of a change up. Seem to have been pretty much the same for a while now. A larger selection would be welcome also, given the name. Staff were friendly. I'll go back purely for those wings! Update: Had a takeaway order tonight of 2 portions of Korean Wings. Very small portions for the price. Paid £24 for what was supposed to be 2 portions of 8 wings. I guess they count a double wing as two wings as we had only 4 pieces in each box. £12 is pretty steep for 4 wings. They were delicious as always, but I wouldn't pay that price again for such a small portion.

A cracking place to go for tasty succulent chicken, decent craft beer coupled with comfortable seating, great music and friendly staff. A good vibe and definitely worth a visit.

The best chicken burger I’ve ever had! I never leave reviews but for this place I had to. I had the hot honey burger and it was phenomenal. The atmosphere and music in there is also great, I would highly recommend.

We had such a lovely server called Casper, who was so friendly, amazing and accommodating. The food was delicious (we are vegetarian and that can sometimes be tricky but here the options are lush and we don’t feel like we’re missing out at all!) Amazing drinks- including mock tails. Dog friendly which was perfect for us. Great music playlist, which added to the fab atmosphere. Absolutely lovely manager too- Simon. A firm favourite of ours for years now and will continue to be- thank you Beer and Bird for another wonderful and memorable gem of an evening- you’re one of a kind! :)

Really excellent dinner spot - food, staff, music, atmosphere and price all brilliant. They handled multiple dietary requirements patiently and brilliantly - allowing us to enjoy almost everything on the menu without any hassle. Just a quick chat with the friendly staff, who spoke to the chef - and it was all sorted. Lots of gluten free options on the menu, which were all very tasty. 10/10 - Great staff. Great food. Food that makes you think about it a couple of days after, is always a good sign of how good it was! The squealer burger was bangin'! As were the wings! Frickles on point too! Service was great, good atmosphere, started off quiet when we arrived and just continued to get busier and busier, which says alot. Try and get there for happy hour too 😉 Would definitely recommend and return.

Second time of visiting the beer and bird and found this time very disappointing. The wife and myself ordered the hickory squealer which was the most expensive chicken burger on the menu the flagship so to speak !! Mine was nearly inedible , hardly any chicken and a very hard battered coating which seemed very overcooked , onion ring inside the same and saturated in fat ! Chips ok but expensive for the portion we got . My wife’s meal was similar but not quite as bad. Staff were friendly and did knock off the price of one meal but still feel disappointed and won’t be visiting again in a hurry.

Booked in advance for this evening (for dinner) and, as always, was not disappointed. Service was very good, our waitress was helpful and was happy to note down a couple of bespoke requests for the burgers. Food came out piping hot and quickly. Delicious and great portion sizes. The ONLY thing that takes away one mark on our review is the removal of halloumi from the menu! We’ve been coming for years and this was the staple that made us return! I understand the slightly streamlined menu but the meal was a little bit below perfect due to the halloumi not being an option. Please bring it back!

It's ok, a decent burger and decent wings washed down with an expensive beer, but nothing that stands out.

The place is decent, lovely warm fire on a cold day and an atmospheric setting. The good was tasty but kept getting our order wrong. The portions are quite small and massively over priced. Paid £20 for just the burger and chips (drink was extra) the chips alone in this picture are £8!!! And they are thin French fries not chips to give you an idea of portion size, they look like a decent portion but they really weren't. Staff are friendly but could do with a bit more knowledge on allergens.

Came here last spring and had the best burger (one with the Camembert wheel) so was well up for that again. Unfortunately the menu is now half the size with little choice. Went for the hot honey burger which despite being tasty was on the ridiculous small size. Staff were good and replaced it with a bigger portion but it is clear that not only has the quality gone downhill but the prices have remained high (£13 for the burger alone). Got the feeling other people have made similar complaints so can only hope the owner listens and tries to rectify this. Until such time, we won’t be returning which is a shame as it was so good last year!

Super small and overpriced portions. Burgers are a lot smaller than they were 2 months ago, and I had less than half a chicken breast in my £13 burger. We bought sides (as fries are no longer included), don't mind paying but the sides weren't very big for the price being charged. We left hungry which we've never done before in all the times we've visited. Food tasted good but very unhappy with the reduction in portion sizes. The drinks were great as were the friendly staff, just a shame the food isn't satisfying so doubt I'll be back as can't afford to eat out somewhere only to still be hungry.

We’ve been coming here about 4 times a year since it opened and we’ve always loved the food. Bit disappointed tonight to be honest. Now have to order fries extra - which I don’t have an issue with but the chicken on the burger was probably a third of the size it used to be. While I appreciate prices rise and what you pay for gets smaller, I’m a tad disappointed. When this happens I vote with my feet and won’t be rushing back 😢

Good range craft beers and good cocktails

Amazing food and the staff and service were faultless! However we ended up being sat next to a group of girls on a night out and when I say they were loud that was an understatement! I’m all for people having a good night out but you do not act like that in a restaurant. You could see everyone was annoyed including the staff so that did ruin our evening a bit. However I 100% recommend and will be going back. Fingers crossed on a quieter evening haha.

Brilliant as ever always deliver and the staff are amazing given how busy this place is. Dog friendly I would recommend you book is you can - I think in season it’s walk in only- I may be wrong so definitely do check. You need a big belly to eat the burgers!!

The best chicken 🐔 😋 and cocktails 🍸.

Went for wing Wednesdays after a recommendation from family members. Food was freezing cold. Burger was served without the sauce on it and just got given a pot of sauce next to burger to compensate. One member of the party found a hair in their food. Gin cocktail a complete waste of time tasted like watered down apple juice with a shot of gin, grim. Waitress was rude beyond belief! Laughing and sniggering with colleagues. Complete unsatisfactory sub-standard food.

Really disappointed. Came here a couple of years ago and had great memories. The menu selection is very poor, with more non chicken options, than actual meat! Prices have increased well beyond the quality of food you get too. Not returning.

What a place, we started with the Bratwurst bites with honey mustard and my German boyfriend found them quite authentic so very good, we then had 2 delicious chicken burger that blew us away. But the stand out was definitely the guy behind the bar, couldn’t come over quick enough and made us feel very welcome. Great selection of beers also. Would recommend

Not very impressed as eaten here before and it was amazing but this time however after waiting an hour for the food and the place was empty. The chips were on par with McDonald’s, onion rings so greasy, chicken was okay but smothered with to much bbq sauce. The service was practically nonexistent. Won’t be returning

We've been going to Beer & Bird every year for about 9 years and it never disappoints. The food is really good, service is excellent and friendly. The only complaint I have, as a craft beer lover, is the now limited number of taps and selection of cans on offer - there used to be a wider and more varied selection!

Visited as a trio, really great food although it's all chicken (or veggid substitute) and the prices are excessive (£16 for a basic burger) but the burgers are tasty and the price does include some chips. Beer selection was fairly extensive but a bit disappointing compared to brewdog and once again ...... The beer was expensive for what you could get elsewhere. Overall, pop in but accept that you will leave with a light wallet. Friendly staff on our visit.

really not as good as it used to be. when i came here 2 years ago, i had the best chicken burger ever. now they’ve massively increased in price and are not as good. BBQ burger was soggy as was too soaked in sauce.

We came here 4 years ago and loved it, so made sure to come back on our holiday this year! The staff were so friendly and helpful and there was a generally very chilled out atmosphere! A good range of different options, we particularly liked that the vegetarian range offered the same options as the meat menu, just without the meat!! It meant everyone was happy and all had great quality meals! A good choice of drinks too, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We didn't feel rushed the time we were, felt very relaxed and that we could stay as long as we wanted to. Only thing I would add is this is up on the first floor, with no lift so if you have trouble with stairs or have a buggy I wouldn't recommend it! Especially as the toilets are up on the third floor! But other than that I would really highly recommend Beer & Bird to anyone visiting St Ives!

We had a good time over there. The food and the atmosphere was great. My son loved their Mac and cheese which was nice.

The entrance to this spot is a blink-and-you-miss-it type with a narrow door and you climb a fleet of stairs to reach the bar and dining space on the first floor. There is an entrance door to the side which opens to the adjacent road but we knew about it only once we were inside. The decor is mostly dark with an industrial feel to it which works except for the sticky tables and floors caused by remnants of sugary drinks spilled over the years. We wanted to try their fried mushrooms and pickles but sadly they had taken these off the menu. Got a beer and pomegranate spritz and they were both decent. The raging hot wings were delicious though the mix of wings and drumsticks in it was a bit confusing. It was early so got the OG burger and raging hot burgers along with the regular fries and sweet potato fries as takeaway. The OG burger could do with less salt on the batter but probably balances itself with alcohol or other additions to it for people who opt for it. The raging hot burger was ruined when we saw that the hot sauce was poured at the bottom of the burger catering the bottom half of the bun to be swimming in the sauce. The result was a soggy bun dripping in hot sauce. Mind you, this sauce is very hot! The fries were surprisingly crisp even when we had them at home so was happy with that. Service was good and we were happy with the staff who served us which is the reason for an extra star.

Best fried chicken I’ve ever had

We loooved! It's quite hidden away so feels like a world of it's own and they have really good vegan/vegetarian options- the battered mushrooms, halloumi and vgn burger were so tasty. It's not cheap but compared to London prices defo worth it. I have allergies and they catered well to this too.

One of the few gems in St ives still. Not the cheapest in town; but it's good value for money considering how good the food and drinks are. Food was absolutely amazing, hot, full of flavour and textures. Wings where meaty and flavourful. Cocktails made by the lady on the bar where delicious. Can't fault service. Reccomended 100%

We came here for a special anniversary meal. The food and was OK but I honestly can't believe the price of it. Most burgers are £15+ with some costing £20+. It's not even London prices which is quite shocking. I would advise against making a table booking because if you cancel within 24 hours, they reserve the right to charge £10 per person! What!? I've never seen this policy elsewhere, it's unbelievable. The staff were really nice.

Food really nice. Slightly slow service despite not being full and having ample waiting staff. Drinks nice as well. Would definitely recommend.
