The Quirky Bird Cafe Pz in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Just looking for a nice looking cafe for coffee/tea. Quirky it is. nice it is too. We didn't have food but other customers did and food looked nice. I would say quirky bird much nicer than major coffee shop chains.

What a little gem. Had to visit the hospital in Penzance, and was looking for somewhere to eat that was dog friendly. Had a warm welcome. Seemed to be a lot of regular customers which spoke for itself. Food and service was very good, and well priced

Outstanding service. Despite not having the macchiato on the menu after we asked, they used their expertise to cater to our request - and made a fantastic macchiato!

Very busy we had to wait 20 mins. The service was slow. Great food and they got one meal wrong, which they changed.

This is a lovely little café that serves good food and coffee and is very reasonably priced. We were only In Penzance for 2 days but having found this place we had lunch on both days. Lovely staff too!

We came here for lunch. There is a large choice on the menu. The staff seemed to know a little of the customers by name so they must be regulars which is a good sign. The food was really good & prices were reasonable but unfortunately we made a mistake with the bacon sandwich. There were two versions of bacon sandwich, one regular and one kids. Our daughter wanted a bacon sandwich we obviously ordered off the kids menu. We didn't realise till after we'd ordered it that it was far cheaper off the regular menu. It did come with a side salad but she didn't want that anyway. That was a bit annoying but it was our fault.

Lovely little cafe on the high-street! Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, quick service, fresh food & good selection.

Coffee excellent, friendly atmosphere and staff. It was ashame the breakfast was a let down. I was shocked to get canned plum tomatoes, rather than fried fresh tomatoes with my breakfast.

Really wanted a toastie and this place was recommended- it was worth the walk ! Very friendly and welcomes dogs , toastie was brilliant , large array of what look like homemade tray bakes as well well worth the visit

Foods good take away service is miserably shocking -milkshakes in cheep paper cups not acceptable

A wonderful, dog friendly cafe to enjoy a cup of your favourite. Friendly and engaging staff. Well worth a visit, although I’m sure, like myself, it will become a habit!

I liked it. I came with a friend for a late lunch and relax. It's a pleasant and popular cafe. It's on the north side of Market Jew Street, it gets the sun throughout opening hours. There are two tables outside on the street, nice friendly service, a good menu, and modestly priced.

Cornish cream tea here was made perfect by the friendly and helpful staff. Coffee instead of tea was no bother. The scone was fresh and tasy and plenty of cream to go with it. A very relaxed atmosphere.

Decent enough. Good service. Chocolate milkshake a bit too sweet for my taste. Wasn't disappointed.

Having seen many positive reviews for this café I contacted the place to see if they accepted dogs, which they do, both inside and outside. Consequently I decided this would be a great little café to attend with my family during our holiday, and booked a table in advance. Upon arriving at the café, the appearance was much less than it was advertised as, and looked more like a greasy spoon café than an 'up market' one. We ordered a toastie, a cheese jacket potato and a big breakfast. We also ordered a San Pellegrino and two pots of tea. When the drinks arrived the San Pellegrino was provided in a can with a plastic cup to pour it in to. The two pots of tea arrived with two slightly dirty cups. When the food arrived the toast with the big breakfast was slightly burnt, and the jacket potato which was supposed to be cheese was served as a jacket with butter and beans. In fairness to the staff they did offer to make another jacket potato, but after waiting approximately 30 mins for food to be served, we decided to eat what was provided. Upon paying the bill, the staff apologised for the inconvenience of the jacket potato. The thing that I personally felt most inappropriate and rude was the comment provided by one of the servers to myself after they asked 'who's is the big breakfast?'. When I replied it was mine (I'm a larger lady), he chuckled and said "of course it is". I mentioned this when I went to pay, and pointed out the staff member who had said this, and the person on the till apologised to me. However, I couldn't help but feel it wasn't going to be dealt with. Consequently, I don't feel I am going to return to this café, but I do hope that this review will lead to them developing their practice as a café, and improving their service on the future

Visited today. A lovely little cafe in a perfect spot, with friendly staff and very tasty food. Definitely worth a visit.

Absolutely loved the vibe of this place! The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was tasty and filling. And I loved the local artwork for sale. Ordered the quirky bird breakfast and was full for most of the day. Cakes were fab too! Check this place out - it's a hidden gem!

We were looking gor somewhere to have breakfast in Penzance. We found this lovely quirky cafe. There breakfast menu was so different. I opted for Eggy Bread, Bacon, and Maple Syrup. It was delicious, and so filling, and mouthwatering. I would definitely recommend this cafe. The staff were so friendly, and polite. The cafe even had a cuckoo clock.

The food & drink at The Quirky Bird, Penzance is really tasty. I arrived in Penzance for a holiday on the 12th of June & stopped off at this little cafe for a coke & a sausage, cheese & local cider chutney. It was delicious & very satisfying. There is such a wide selection of toasties to choose from. Staff were really friendly, attentive & cooked the toastie to perfection. Went back to this cafe on the 14th of June & had a raspberry Quirky Shake (see photo) & a bacon, brie & cranberry sauce toastie. A unique cafe I'd definitely like to visit again. Thank you to all the staff at Quirky Bird!

A wide selection of GF options. Thank you to Lorna and the team for a delicious GF chocolate cake and GF coconut cake. We also had a jacket potato with salad to take away and it was delicious.

This place is a real gem. Not very far from the railway or bus station. Very friendly staff, excellent breakfast and the cakes looked delicious. The inside is a bit quirky with paintings and cards for sale and seems to be a favourite place with the local people. We went there 3 mornings in a row and we were not disappointed.

Brilliant little cafe. Staff very warm and welcoming. Service quick and efficient. Seating area compact but clean, tidy, and well presented. Small selection of gifts available. Food was delicious, very generous helpings, and low prices. Only regret is that I've not been in before!

Warmly welcoming atmosphere, cosy venue, clean, and charmingly decorated. Very friendly, polite, helpful, and accommodating staff. The food was well-presented, well-priced, and delicious. Clearly a bit of community hub, but very welcoming of tourists and any ages. Truly couldn't fault our experience of the Quirky Bird. Its only flaw was how popular it was, which speaks for itself!

Lovely, clean & friendly cafe. We always make it our first stop when we visit Penzance. Great food, lovely drinks & a long, varied menu to suit all comers - vegetarians, gluten free - you name it, they'll provide it.

Had The Quirky Bird Breakfast for lunch. I hadn’t had any breakfast and added hash browns and hog pudding + a pot of tea. Choice of egg and toast type. My poached egg was brilliantly cooked and still runny, toast was thick fresh multigrain with plenty of butter servings. Breakfast was excellent! Great quality, made with care and nicely present. Staff are lovely. Lots of other nice looking things on menu. Venue’s nice too. I’ll be back (and bothered to post/review which is very telling). Thank you x

Waitress was so lovely and food was really good! Partner had a full English with white pudding and I had eggy bread with sausage and black pudding, couldn’t fault it! Would 100% recommend

Clotted cream, jam, delicious freshly baked scones and a pot of tea, in a quirky local cafe. The scones were still hot! Wonderful!

Let down by the kitchen facilities in our holiday let we needed to find a great breakfast to start off our week. Quirky bird did not disappoint, the salted caramel milkshake saved the day for one family member. Great food, friendly staff and reasonably priced.

A good sized all day breakfast, and veggie option with meat style sausages and two eggs. All freshly cooked. Everything was piping hot.

Clean and great value for the money

My partner and I visited for the first time yesterday. We ordered 2 x rounds of poached egg on toast, 1 x tea and 1 x juice to start. Beautiful eggs that just run when you cut into them. Followed by a slice of carrot cake and lemon drizzle cake, a cappuccino and a caramel latte. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate. The service was brilliant and friendly. The decor was so lovely, comfortable and clean. The walls were also adorned with pictures and items to sell. We loved listening to the interaction with regulars who came in and they knew their orders. This will be our regular haunt when we are in Penzance. Well done on creating a lovely space to come and eat. Thank you x

So accommodating to me and my dog twice in one day. Had to wait in Penzance and the weather was horrific. We had breakfast, a couple of drinks, some treats for the dog. Not pushed to leave at any point, nothing was too much trouble....

When I paid £7.25 for a full English i wasn’t expecting the most amazing breakfast in the world, but i wasn’t expecting burnt and food straight from a tin. Mushrooms and tomatoes were both clearly tin to plate food. Would not recommend. On the plus side, coffee was great and service was also very good.

We had a nice time there. The waitress was very kind and actually made a homemade iced tea for us (even though it isn't on the menu). You really don't get that kind of service (with a sweet smile) in big chains.

Food was ok, just a standard place for breakfast. A bit overpriced to what is on offer. Toast for example was either under or over done. Tin foods used instead of fresh ingredients which I would expect at the price. Not sure why has 4.7 ⭐️. Also seating instructions not clear as other who came first did not get seating. Disappointed overall 😔

We loved this little place - sat inside as warned about the gulls. Poached eggs and cheese and beans on toast. Tea for two. Chatted to an Australian lady who was visiting family.

A very welcome sight as we arrived on our bikes, soaked to the skin, in Penzance. Lovely staff and great food, all day breakfast, eggy bread highly recommended! Will be top of my list when next visiting.

Great quirky chai tea and milkshakes. We enjoyed breakfast, and recommend the malt toast. Ask for extra butter!
