🌟 A Sunday Roast to Remember at The May Fly! 🌟 If you're craving the ultimate Sunday comfort food, look no further than The May Fly pub – a hidden gem that delivers big on flavour, warmth, and hearty portions. I recently popped in for their famous Sunday roast, and let me tell you: it was pure joy on a plate. The star of the show? The gammon – beautifully glazed, tender, and packed with that rich, smoky-sweet flavour that just melts in your mouth. Each slice was thick and juicy, perfectly cooked and full of soul-satisfying goodness. And let’s talk about the Yorkshire pudding – golden, towering, and delightfully crisp on the outside with a fluffy center that soaked up the rich gravy like a dream. It was everything a proper Yorkshire pud should be and then some! The roast itself came with a generous helping of perfectly roasted potatoes, seasonal veg that still had bite, and lashings of rich, savoury gravy that tied the whole plate together. The atmosphere was cosy and inviting, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the portions were generous without being overwhelming. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, The May Fly is the kind of place that turns a lazy Sunday into a full-on feast. Do yourself a favour – book a table, bring your appetite, and prepare to fall in love with one of the best roasts in town. 🥂🍽️

Cute cafe with great toasties and coffee. Staff really friendly and helpful with a good range of food choices including baked potatoes, toasties and sandwiches. Coffee was a good sized cup with a mellow flavour. Good prices and a great view over the Mermaid Beach.

Manic Mike Entertainment was booked by John Norwood on behalf of The Fountain Inn two months ago and was left a voicemail of cancellation 3 days before the gig this Saturday 10th May 2025. I had a group of ladies who hired a mini bus to come down to the event and have had no reponse from the venue, despite sending two emails no payment has been made. The excuse was it was to be cancelled because they were now doing food! and I looked on their Facebook and they booked a Michael Buble singer at the same time as cancelling us. We had promoted the event for the venue and had heard nothing. I will update Tripadvisor on the outcome, which I am looking for an amiable resolution.

Such a terrible shame. Its called the vintage tea room but the minute you step in it's obvious that this is far from a vintage tea room and more like a workman's caff. Bottles of brown sauce and ketchup stacked in a metal holder on the table definitely isn't something you would find in a vintage cafe. We were going to buy a children's lunch but no-where was it mentioned if sandwiches were included and if so what the choice was. There may even have been an ice lolly included (as there often is at various outlets with children's lunch boxes) but no body would have had a clue. How about a list posted next to the boxes showing what you get????? We wanted to sit in the outside searing area but what a depressing place! Two old picnic benches on a rough peice if concrete. The toilets needed a good tidy. There was a bottle of toilet cleaner next to the toilet, not good to have chemicals not locked away from young children that may be using the loo!! This could be a real asset to the station but to be honest it shouldn't be using the description 'vintage cafe'. It could be a little gem if only they sharpened up their act.

This café has a great view and convenient parking, but the service level is quite low for the price range. We had an unpleasant experience: when the waiter was bringing us coffee, he tripped and spilled some near our table. He didn’t check if anyone got splashed and just walked away with the cups. Another lady brought us the coffee, but the cups were dirty on the outside. When I commented that the cups were dirty, she exclaimed, "Well, the waiter tripped and spilled the coffee! But if it's not okay, we'll replace it." She took the coffee away, brought it back in clean cups, and there was not a single word of apology. I am sure this place will always have a lot of customers because of their good location just be ready to get poor service.

I had a wonderful experience at Starbucks today thanks to Grace . From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with such a warm, genuine smile that instantly brightened my day. Not only was my frappe made perfectly, but her kindness and upbeat attitude put a smile on my face. It’s clear she loves what she does, and it made all the difference. Thank you, Grace, Starbucks is lucky to have you.”

Despite both the website and the Facebook page stating that this bar had now re-opened and was open daily from 9am to 4pm, when we got there at 11.30am today, we walked in the main door, saw yet another sign confirming this information, but the bar was locked and in darkness. Will not bother going back until we know for sure that it actually is open!

During my lunch break I was waiting for service as staff were in the kitchen. I attracted the attention of a lady who sent another female of staff out front and who immediately started giving attitude. Her manner was extremely rude! Her name was Sadie. I would have asked to see a manager if I didn’t need to come back for a colleagues order. Baddie served me on my return who was polite. I won’t be back.

A very practical space. More seating installed since my last visit and the toilets were at least mostly accessible this time. These places are never as nice as those on the continent, however this one has picked up. A couple of negatives is the overhead heating system was on full despite it being almost 20C outside. Sitting directly underneath was like being in an open sauna. Very unpleasant. Also the best priced stationery/sandwich/drink store in the entire UK motorway network (first unit on your right as you go in) has closed and been replaced by something entirely less useful and extortionate. A tragedy for UK motorway users.
