Biggles Bar in Shepway

Despite both the website and the Facebook page stating that this bar had now re-opened and was open daily from 9am to 4pm, when we got there at 11.30am today, we walked in the main door, saw yet another sign confirming this information, but the bar was locked and in darkness. Will not bother going back until we know for sure that it actually is open!

Doesn't look like it's ever going to open again!! Come on, give us some info please!! Been several times with no luck.

Should convert this to a Mcdonald it would get better reviews, built in the fifties food from the fifties that's your only warning

Website needs to be updated and phone needs an answering message! Been twice from Folkestone and website says open but still closed due to flooding.

Late one afternoon called in for a cup of coffee, so this review is just based on that. The service was friendly enough and the coffee was OK but what was noteworthy was the cost. It was a very large cup of coffee and the cost was under £2. Looking at the board behind the service area was the dish of the day which was under £7; so if you are after cheap prices then this is the place for you. The decor was interesting comprising painted pictures of planes through the ages. Also, it is possible to sit and watch the planes taking off and landing (there were none when we were there but the serving lady said that the airport was quite busy during the summer. She also said that every Sunday lunch time the restaurant was extremely busy. We will more than likely return to try the food.

The Biggles Bar restaurant is inside the airport terminal building overlooking the main runway. There is a bar, but I have never seen this open, the food ordering counter is next to the bar. The menu is simple but varied with a lot of aviation themed items - I had the 'Hawker Hurricane' which was Ham, Egg and Chips. The eggs were very runny and just a handful of chips so not generous. Milk for tea/coffee is long life in cartons, fresh milk would have been much nicer. Overall a reasonable place to eat with basic no frills food.

Cant recommend this place enough. Took one of our service users there for lunch. The staff were great and interacted with her. So nice to go somewhere that has time to chat and treat us as a "normal" people. The menu had a good choice taking into account the opening hours 9,00 - 15.00. The food we ordered was well presented and to a high standard and most of all value for the price

Flew in for lunch over some stunning scenery, into a great terminal building - but service was at best surly, food incredibly basic, and not entirely what was ordered - it was then apparently too difficult to change anything as "the chef has just turned the kitchen off" (it was a fried egg missing for goodness sake!). Is it too much to ask that after what we spend flying into an airport in a beautiful spot, we might get a decent lunch? There is more to life than a jacket potato with beans or a bacon sandwich with a fried egg missing. The facilities here clearly could support a great deal better.

I went here for my Birthday with my son. We arrived at about midday. After sitting down and looking at a menu for a while a member of staff came over and said 'if you want to look at the planes you need to take your bags with you' i said no problem. After deciding what to eat the same woman came over and said ' you cant order anything as we are about to have a fire drill'! Why didnt she say that the first time she came over! We left and went to the Pilot inn down the road. Will not be returning.

Basic Sunday Lunch. Meat and desert very good. veg all overcooked. Plenty of free parking.school canteen type lay out. Bar and when flying Air craft viewing area.

Had roast lunch here a few times and it offers good value with a choice three meats and freshly cooked vegetables. There are tables near windows that overlook the runway so you can see a bit of what is happening at the airport. Place is basic with limited drinks choice but adequate and the grandchildren like it.

We drove in to Lydd Airport when we saw a banner that there was an art exhibition. Then we found Biggles Restaurant/Bar - they served a very reasonably priced Sunday Lunch. So we decided to try it out. We were impressed. There were tables in the open air - where diners can see planes coming in to land...although to be honest, these are few and far betweeen. However, the service was good - self-serve mostly. And the desserts looked nice too but our carvery meal was enough for us to skip dessert.

Sunday roast, excellent value, good old fashioned food in clean and practical surroundings, if you want luxury this isn't for you, if you want a great roast, good quantity, then this is for you.. Now that Spring is here, we will definitely start going again.

Have been here several times now and never disappointed. Food is cooked to order, always nice and hot, tastes great and plentiful. All meals are named as planes or airport related i.e. Gipsy Moth etc. And the view of the planes or helicopter taking off is a bonus too.

The food is fresh, a choice of turkey, gammon or beef. The food is hot. You need to get there early to make sure they don’t run out of food.
