Awful! Awful! Awful! Precooked soggy,tasteless food and watery coffee. Please don’t bother as the only reason this dump is still trading is because the queues for other eateries are longer. Disgusting!

I bought 2 coffees before boarding the channel crossing. They tasted like hot water. Poor value to travellers. I had hoped for a tasty French coffee. I shan’t buy there again.

What a joke £8:50 for an unbutterd bacon cob, dry cold and terrible, do not go here, oh and the staff were rude and unhelpful

The worst noodles I ever had. The noodles had the thickness of my pinky finger, the vegetables were cold and raw and the "sauce" had the taste of water. £12 straight into the bin. Awful

Without question the worst and most expensive breakfast ever. Everything on offer was cold and overcooked apart from the eggs, thank goodness. The two chaps running the counter looked dreadful and had absoluty no communication skills. One had was wearing a hoodie and had greasy hair hanging over his face. The other chap couldn't have looked more disinterested if he tried. I always try to find something positive yo say in a review, but honestly.... Just avoid it.

Don't bother ordering the americano coffee less you like black water with a hint of coffee flavour. Breakfast roll was ok. Staff were friendly.

In all fairness I only bought a coffee as I’d eaten breakfast in our hotel before we came to the Chunnel. My coffee was very good and again I must say very hot, and tasty. I did notice the food that was on offer and to be honest I wouldn’t have eaten anything there the food looked awful.

Arrived at eurotunnel 9:30 and decided toys early something to eat.nothing much open (Sunday morning) so though would have sausage bap. Two small largely tasteless sausages served in a bap with no butter and bordering on going stale. Two young people who quite clearly did not relish the day ahead were “serving” Its appalling that this level of food is still allowed and provided. I would advise avoiding at all costs. Unfortunately whilst I would wish to give no stars, this is not possible

Just ended up having a coffee and a muffin whilst waiting for our shuttle. My partner did consider a bacon roll, but they looked as if they’d been there for a while, so he didn’t bother.

It's early, we're all tired, and having to join a long queue just to get a cup of coffee and tea to start the day isnt top of any-ones favourite things to do. Cheery, smiling service will help sooth our weary minds, but wait. Whats this? We are greeted by two of the most miserable faces and grumpy attitudes to match. Clearly this young red-haired girl and her older short haired counterpart want to be here less than we do, and they are making sure we -their customers - know just much we are inconveniencing them! Here's an idea for the servers at this place - smile at your customers, and if they order a cup of tea ASK IF THEY WANT MILK and let them know how to get it if they say yes. Preferably whilst theyre at the counter with you, before they get back to their car, have to return to the cafe, wasting precious minutes and risking missing their train. Awful service. Reasonable tea - eventually - and no thanks to the staff.

Bloody hell when I ask for a bacon roll I don’t want a singular piece of crap tasting bacon. For £5 it’s a joke how disgusting this was.

One of the most expensive and worst breakfasts I have ever eaten. English breakfast is £11 and toast is extra. No beans today. No toast today. For crying out loud how can you not have these? Is it same price ? Yes. Bacon small and salty and tasteless. Sausages cold. Hash browns, blipping in oil. Egg burnt. Mushroom - unrecognisable . Tomato , un cooked. Tables dirty Spent £28 utter rip off

Not sure why there are so many negative reviews about this place. I wanted a coffee for the train journey under the sea. The friendly staff sorted my coffee out. Price was a little high, but that's to be expected in a departure lounge. Coffee tasted fine. All good here.

Well what can you do when your starving and need a quick bacon roll and a coffee? It ticked the box and was very quick Having said that I do resent being charged so much for a water over two pounds is taking the Michael Overall it’s better and quicker than Starbucks next door as the drones always seem to queue up their in great numbers Used befor so will again

It was a very busy day, but the Ladies behind the counter were happy and helpful. I had left my card in the car and they let me go off and get it. When I returned and paid, the breakfast was ready with the Mushrooms and Tomatoes removed, which can be harder than you would think.

We ate bacon rolls here whilst waiting to be called for the train.There was no queue (vs.a huge queue at both Starbucks and Leon) and we received our breakfast rolls really quickly.Staff were friendly and food was hot.The previous reviews felt pretty harsh based on our experience and we've been here a few times over the years.All in it was an OK experience albeit we only came here because it was the smallest queue of the three open breakfast places.

I had two bacon rolls £3.85 each, bread roll soft but bacon was dried out and not very nice but despite nobody in queue in front of us we had to wait 10 minutes for my wife's breakfast and more for her toast....really. Which imbecile was in the kitchen to fry 2 eggs? Everything else in bain marie heater so what was the delay. As my wife said, Toby jug would make a killing here. Poor breakfast, especially when you are paying for the high rental. If another eatery is open use it, these people ard clueless.

We travelled to France on Saturday and were in need of breakfast before catching the train. Seeing a huge queue at Starbucks we went to the La Gare restaurant. No queue and welcomed immediately by friendly staff. We ordered the breakfast roll and the full English breakfast and drinks. The breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. The seating area was clean and comfortable. The cleaner came along and she to was friendly and hard working. All ion all a good visit

Good hot coffee, heated wrap, good filling value. Worth getting a snack and drink, very pleasant staff.

In view of the other reviews of La Gare, I had to look twice to make sure I was reviewing the same establishment! Visited the shuttle terminal on 17th September in a coach party. A number of us went to La Gare for breakfast. The breakfast roll looked good and this was the choice of a number of us along with bacon rolls. There were two young girls working there. Service was efficient, quick and friendly, with one cooking and the other serving. Coffee was excellent and the breakfast roll - bacon, sausage and egg was superb - more than enough for the healthiest appetites and the quality was also excellent. Those who had the bacon roll all agreed that there was plenty of bacon and the quality again was excellent. The cafe seating area was clean and quiet. I would certainly visit here again.

Terrible service only one person on the till and all the other staff stood around, one was on their phone. Cheese toaster barely melted.

This is the worst hotdog we have ever seen or tasted. Truly horrendous! Nachos were some Doritos covered with little bit of something supposed to be cheese all put in microwave to become solid and some salsa from packet slapped in cardboard box.hotdog had a revolting English sousage also microwaved. NOT a frankfurter as it should be. We left it all on the table including the microwaved cardboard boxes. Even a dog would not eat that!

Give this bar a wide berth! The staff are ignorant, berating and rude! For myself and my pregnant wife to be shouted at it for not joining the end of the queue was extremely rude. Especially considering we had been sat at the bar for the past half an hour.

Reasonable food but Not good service. Most of the time queuing only one lad on counter. This can cause you to miss crossing or leave half your meal.

Een eenvoudig nummer op het ticket zou het al vele malen kunnen verbeteren. Ga liever naar het fastfood restaurant tegenover La Gare dan wordt je snel geholpen en de kwaliteit is constant.

My friend and I queued up for what seemed liked ages for drinks and a bacon roll.

Deciding to use the Eurotunnel Terminus and needing somewhere to wait rather than in the main area we went into La Gare Bar and Cafe. It was very pleasant and relaxing with comfy seating and decorated with rail related pictures on the walls. We had a coffee and a beer and the staff were efficient and friendly. There were also ample charging points for tablets and mobile phones

what a complete dump.....they employed my son for the summer period on a zero hours contract and then decided they 'didn't need' him. The manager was a disgrace getting him to clean a hot grill before it had been turned off....when he complained because his hands were burned, he was told to 'man up' my son was appauled at having to serve the rotten food on offer and embarrassed to work there. Absolute disgrace, this place needs to be assessed for working practice and for the disgusting food it serves.

We stopped by here for a quick meal before taking the shuttle the hot dog was horrible the sausages over cooked and dry and served in a box that arrived upside down when served to us at the table with no cutlery.we will definitely not go back there expensive and poor quality.

This place is awful - it began by me asking for a glass of wine that was on their 'wine list'. After searching I was told that they didn't have any. I chose the next wine on the list - and was told that they don't do that wine. I showed the barmaid the list who answered that they don't have any of the wines on the list. (there were only 3 white wines listed!) I had gin and tonic instead and also ordered a beer and a coke. It took about 15 minutes for these to arrive, after having to remind the staff that I hadn't received the coke....during this time I observed the most awful food hygiene procedures where the same tongs were being used to pick up both meat and salad for a sandwich that was being made. I have a severely allergic son and therefore am very conscious about any cross contamination....but to be honest I don't feel that the young boy serving had received any training. The barmaid commented that she'd had enough of the bloody staff! A customer next to me was told that they didn't serve sausages sandwiches but we could all see the blatant advert for such a thing! Very slow service, uninformed staff, well over priced, never again! I have tried to complain directly but cannot source any contact details. Wish I could score it zero!

There's not a great deal of choice in places to eat at the tunnel terminal. This is probably the best of the lot. We had the English breakfast, which was good if a bit meagre for £7.99: only one rasher of bacon. On the plus side the sausage was much better quality than you normally get in a fry up in places like this, and the coffee was excellent.

If you would like to experience the joys of being in prison and dining in captivity eating the most heinous of foods all being served by staff that can only be described as thicker than a dungeon door, then this is the place for you. If however you are of sane body and mind, and I don't believe I am saying this, the bins might be a better option to forage from.

Whilst waiting for our departure letter to be announced and having already been to the Duty Free shop we went to Le Gare for a coffee. A French lady in front of us asked for an English breakfast....oh dear....that was an embarrassment for all English breakfast lovers. The 'chef' was working on a griddle and was doing a grand job crisping up the fried egg! No 'sunny side up' or 'over easy' in his dictionary. The egg was put onto a cold plate with some baked beans and a cremated rasher of bacon and with a half smile from the obvious francophobia chef the plate was handed to the French lady. I should have gone to Starbucks next door but I persisted and asked for 'two strong coffees please'. "Over here" said a female voice several feet away from me and standing by the till. Staring at me and, with a shake her head, I realised she was (sort of) speaking to me. She gave me two lovely cardboard cups with pretty pictures of a red Vespa motor scooter on but the contents was far from being coffee. It was brownish coloured and it looked like it could be coffee and it was steaming hot (just as a previous reviewer has mentioned..too hot) but it certainly did not taste anything like coffee. It was disgusting. In fact, the whole establishment was disgusting and should either be closed down or have a change of staff for staff that cared about customers. Do I recommend Le Gare at the Eurotunnel, Folkestone....Non!!

After 3.5 hours driving we were looking forward to breakfast before taking the train. At the service counter we waited 5 minutes while the couple ahead waited for items to complete their order, before we could even place our order. we ordered two breakfasts and coffee. they cooked our egg (one each) and put them on plates while we went to get milk and sugar for our coffee. we were then told they were 'waiting on sausages, bacon and tomato'. Eventually those items arrived and we were given our plates (without the advertised beans!). When this was pointed out they were not even apologetic. Finally we got to our table only to find they were cold plates, the food itself was cold. The food was returned and refunded in full. we left to catch the train without having had breakfast.What we had been served was a health hazard and this place should not be allowed to continue to operate - AVOID AT ALL COSTS.We will write to them separately.

I have had a worse breakfast on a translantic plane coming into Heathrow but that's about it.My vegetarian sausage roll was not buttered and stale. There were no napkins. On my last visit the tea was so dreadful I ordered orange juice this time. It was served in a plastic bottle and I was not offered a glass.Poor value for money.

Everything that is amateurish about British catering. Poor levels of service, chaotic organisation and above all run by kids who are enthusiastic but unsupervised. The coffee when they remembered it was appalling. This place needs a senior figure to manage operations.

Sadly, very few people will look at TripAdvisor before attempting breakfast, lunch etc at the Eurotunnel terminal at Folkestone - a great shame as this a truly DREADFUL bar/cafe and should be closed down! Poor service, bad food, dirty crocks etc etc etc.

Indifferent staff. Filthy cutlery. Filthy dirty tables and bar counter. Food was dreadful. Greasy fingerprints from the server on the side of my plate. Staff more interested in chatting. How can they not keep clean food areas. Just avoid.

Exceptionally slow service and whilst the food was exceptable the presentation on the plate was diabolical. People come to this restaurant for a quick meal before boarding eurotunnel it does not achieve this.

Very disappointed, we had time for some breakfast before our train ride to Calais, the service was slow and uncaring the counter was scattered with crumbs and sugar grains and the whole place did not feel clean, it could have been so much better.

Quick pit stop at La Gare 7:45am purchased two bacon rolls, a latte and a large Americano to take away. Service was fine and off we went to join the embarkation queue. Bacon rolls good but both the coffees were literally undrinkable. The thin bitter gruel could only be thrown away. Had we been in the restaurant I'd have made the staff drink it to see what they were inflicting on their customers. At a minimum they need training to make decent coffee but then one wonders at the quality of the ingredients too! Very disappointed.

We only wanted a cold sandwich from the fridge to take with us in our trip. There was a long queue for people that seemed to be ordering hot food only and another till around the far side, so I went around and waited. Three girls basically standing around nattering ignored me for about 5 minutes. Eventually I said please can I just pay for this sandwich...the one with long blond hair glared at me and said quite rudely "Yeah...queue round there!". There was no need for that, once I'd then could have directed me when they first saw me instead of deliberately ignoring me. I left the sandwich as I want going to queue for another fifteen minutes. After I've read these other reviews I'm glad I did as the food looked awful there anyway!

One thing I observed when I was here was the staff talking and stood around doing nothing, apart from a short girl with blue eyes and brown hair. She was very polite and made sure we was aware of where everything was and how long we would have to wait for our food. Her service was brilliant but slightly slow, due to the lazy staff. Unfortunately the food tasted stale and horrible and the coffee was ok. If you go in there, I hope you all see how rude and lazy these other members of staff are.

Despite 4 members of staff there was a complete lack of planning. Waiting time far too long and even though eggs cooked to order they managed to destroy it! The real star was the caring lady cleaning the tables who overheard me and took it upon herself to correct my food. Train your staff better please as the food was actually very good quality

We had a stop at the Eurotunnel Terminal to buy us a lunch to eat on the shuttle. Paid slightly less than 10 pounds for 2 Panini (oh well, they called it panini) : 1 Honey Roast Ham & three cheese panini with spring onion and 1 Roast chicken & chorizo with mozzarella and baby spinach. We already had a 4 hrs journey to the tunnel and needed some food to continue another 3 hrs drive home! Oh well..we opened the foil and it did not smell good at all. One sandwich was missing 1/4 of the bread! We opened the sandwich and there was hardly any filling in it. Not that we really bothered, that tiny thin slice of so called ham and the thin layer of mayonnaise with some undefinable bits in it (cheese??? ) did not look edible. The other one was even worse, 3 tiny, paper thin slices of chorizo, 1 babyleaf of spinach (LOL) and 5 tiny (and I mean tiny!) bits of dry chicken I guess. No mozzarella . I took pictures to sent to my friends and then we threw both "panini" in the bin. I am going to sent a complaint to the address on it: HMS Host Europe, P.O. Box 75041, 1117ZN Schiphol, The Netherlands. I will tell them to read the reviews here on TripAdvisor but do not think they will be interested??? The personnel could not even be bothered to get us a napkin after spending 10 GBP on 2 "panini".

Dropped in for breakfast. They were busy but the friendly staff could not have been more brilliant . I went for the full breakfast and coffee. Loads of seating in a quiet environment. Perfect

Menu not easy to follow. Didn't like the way the male member of staff handled our food. Two breakfast rolls, one bacon roll, two coffees and an orange juice came to £19.95. Expensive but edible. Couldn't find the milk but eventually found it after asking although it was away from the main serving counter. Wouldn't use this restaurant again. Just a handful of customers and now I understand why.

The cooked breakfast is very good but you need to leave plenty of time. Service is slow party due to a complicated ordering system and there never seem to be enough eggs.

At the Eurotunnel terminal building in Folkestone. I ordered an espresso because otherwise you have to drink the foul burnt stuff that their neighbours (a company from Seattle ) call coffee. It was actually rather nice. I also got a free sandwich as it was two minutes to ten and they were just about to close up for the night and it would be a shame to throw it away. Not bad - I wouldn't have chosen ham and spring onion myself but it was okay, especially for free and gifted with a lovely smile.

My partner recently organised a Golf Break to Belgium for twelve men including himself.On arrival at the Terminal each of them ordered a full English Breakfast at £9.95 from La Gare. 3.5hrs later my partner had stomach cramps which continued whilst travelling, on arrival at the golf course in Belgium 1.5hrs later, he was violently sick twice closely followed by the other related symptom!!! Not really welcome on a Golf Break! It later transpired that out of the 12 gentlemen who ate, 9 had loose symptoms, two quite bad, one of which was my partner and the other gentleman bad enough to prevent him playing golf for 1.5 days!I would DEFINATELY not recommend eating here!! Have lodged a complaint direct with Eurotunnel and am waiting to hear.

Barely ok for a quick bacon roll and a cup of tea if you are waiting for your call forward to the Eurotunnel train, don't expect fine dining or freshly cooked food, the bacon in our rolls looked as though it had been kept under the heat lamps for some time as did all the other offerings on display. We haven't tried the other food outlets in the terminal but you may wish to do so as I could not in all honesty recommend this outlet.

Stopped for a quick lunch prior to crossing to France and this was inedible. Burgers were disgusting as were the wings. They did re-cook the burgers but just as bad the 2nd time around. The j2o's and cokes were delicious! Do yourselves a favour and go elsewhere. .

It is the terminal so you expect a premium but £10 for breakfast is top end. All fine but not great value.

Our train was delayed. The terminal building was packed full with people scrambling to find a seat. The only seat we could grab was in La Gare so we decided to also have a bite to eat during our wait. The que was huge and it took at least 15mins to be served (Delays not the fault of the Restaurant of course)One Chicken Fajita Wrap - tiny pieces of bland chicken. One Cheese Panini - hard and tasteless. £11.20 for the pleasure. There are alternative places to eat in the Eurotunnel Terminal. Take your chances with one of those.

we went just before getting on the train and we had cold eggs, and rubber like bacon, as there wasnt much else of an option for breakfast, we had cold baked beans and all food was just genuinely terrible, i wouldnt dare go there ever again

Terrible coffee and English breakfast - and not cheap. Nasty tasting tomatoes, cardboard bread, miserably small piece of bacon, cold beans, broken egg yolk. Had to remind staff to give us coffee, no cutlery, no tray.

No fried eggs, no knives (had to eat terrible breakfast with a spoon). Tray was sticky and dirty, truly the worst place I have ever eaten.

It's anyone's guess what the French traveling out of England via Euro Tunnel make of this place. Enormous queues, cold, greasy food and filthy tables piled high with dirty plates waiting to be cleared. The place was in total melt down when we visited, with dozens of people stood waiting for the chef to cook some hash browns to complete their breakfast orders. No one seemed to be managing the place at all, I almost felt a little sorry for the staff, who despite their obvious incompetence appeared to be trying their best. The fact that peoples last impression of our countries cuisine as they leave via Euro Tunnel is this place, truly embarrasses me.

Thought we would have a Breakfast Roll before getting on shuttle. We ordered a bacon roll and a sausage roll, both disappointing. Poor quality bacon and sausage and barely warm. Price for 2 American coffees and rolls came to £14.74 Hate paying good money for bad food.

The best part of £12 gets you a tepid English Breakfast! They only have eggs, beans, bacon, beans, tomatoes, hash browns and mushrooms, they still fail to provide a reasonable breakfast, despite the fact the staff outnumbered the clientele. Breakfast was left to go cold whilst waiting 5 minutes for hash browns, then a further 5 minutes for a knife, which I had to borrow from a neighbouring restaurant. No wonder we are the butt of so many jokes when it comes to restaurants in the UK. Given the choice of food at Eurotunnel, I strong recommend bringing you own sandwiches!

I have been in most of the eating places in the Eurotunnel terminal here and this is the best. All I find expensive but the food was fresher than some of the others. It was about 8.20 in the morning and the staff cheerful.

This restaurant is one of about 5-6 that is located ont he English side of the Channel Tunnel. It is also one of the few that doesn’t force you to order burgers if you’re hungry. Since we had a couple hours to kill and were hungry, I visited all thos eateries available and by far the best bet was La Gare.My wife and I decided on having some chilli and although we weren’t expecting much, just typical fast food, chain store, travel food, this chilli was really very tasty! The prices were also reasonable compared to the other places. You can also get some French wine and even French beer here. My place of choice now and whenever I find myself waiting to cross back into Europe.

My husband and I visited this Eurotunnel take-away snack bar this morning. I only went there, as there was no queue (that should have told me something's wrong...!) I ordered two bacon rolls and a cappuccino (prices were a bit on the high side, but I think probably they all are at this terminal). My money was taken and I was told to wait further up the counter. I was ignored for five minutes and then caught the eye of one of the staff and he interrupted his colleague, a young lady's, chats (she didn't seem interested in work...) and told her I was waiting. She asked what I wanted to drink and I said a cappuccino, to which she replied they were only doing teas and instant coffee. I said that I would have my money back for that, please, but that I was also waiting (this was now coming up for 10 minutes) for 2 bacon rolls. She then told me she had no rolls (this was at peak breakfast time, let's not forget...), so I asked her to refund me completely, which took another five minutes. So, 15 minutes after joining the queue, I had no drink and no breakfast. Particularly the girl was definitely more interested in her personal life and chatting with other people, not doing the job. We certainly will never be going there again.

Whoever designed this place should be shot - well not literally obviously, however they clearly haven't a clue.People use this restaurant whilst they are in a relative hurry, so things need to be straightforward and clear, they are not...Hiding the trays underneath the serving counter meant that I didn't see them, and indeed 5 minutes observation confirmed that no one else did either.Flash, ever changing flat screen menu boards just meant that you could hardly catch what it was that you were intending to order, so either you had to wait 5 minutes to see it often enough to know, or you take a chance...The serving staff were efficient enough, however didn't make up for the other shortcomings, having ordered a breakfast they didn't offer any additional options and apparently their full breakfast has an option to go large and more irritatingly does not include toast, which is extra at 99p a slice. I must admit this is the first place I have had breakfast this year that doesn't offer a slice of toast as standard.Having said all that the breakfast was decent enough with a freshly cooked egg and not grease bound.The best bit of the experience was the lady clearing the tables, who chatted with everyone whilst keeping things immaculately clean and wished everyone a fun trip.I suppose at least next time I know the pitfalls in advance!

The staff are lazy and simply rude. They make coffee with scalding hot water and not even a please or thank you. Don't even bother going here. Much better going to Starbucks or Leon within the same building

If I were France, I would be VERY offended, and sue this collection of cynical idlers for misrepresentation. Were La Gare correct, and it is a 'Taste of France'- their comment on the Eurotunnel website- the wise traveller would turn round and go home. After a spectacularly appalling visit late last year- surly staff ( those that were awake), one slice of lifeless bacon shamefully hiding in a roll, still, only £5, etc, I wrote and was sent a voucher for £20, which needed be spent at La Gare. On my last trip, I exchanged it for the value in bottled water, 500cl, @ £2 a pop.
