A group of 4 of us visited. I Was the only one drinking lager, others had shorts. When I got my beer I was a little amazed that the bubbles were going from top to bottom???? and very cloudy lager. Normally bubbles from the bottom upwards do you think?? Anyway, made my way to bar to discuss this issue only to be told I was wrong and can't get a refund or replacement 🤔 This was my first pint of the day before you ask and last drink here

So welcoming and accommodating for us and the dogs. We arrived early afternoon, garden is nice, staff really chatty and friendly. Ordered drinks and was brought over to us. My husband wanted a good seat for the football and the lady behind the bar reserved the seats. They had a bbq 3-5 and the food was lovely. Highly recommend visit and will definitely be back.

The Fountain is a great place with a wonderful atmosphere. It is a community pub where families are welcome. They also allow dogs on leads and it is nice to be able to have a drink with your pet aftet a walk. The entertainment is good. The weekly karaoke has now changed back to the original host and is proving really popular so that there are plans to extend it to a Friday as well as Sunday. The pub is currently under refurnushment so best to call before going. Otherwise it's a great place to go.

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch in the fountain Inn with my family, I am a vegetarian and lactose free and they were able to accommodate my requirements. We also went in for open mic and when they had a band playing there and we enjoyed both evenings very much. The landlady is so lovely and welcomed us to her lovely pub. The locals were great and we made some friends too. Great community pub and very welcoming to tourists. I would definitely recommend. Will visit again when visiting family.

Visited with a group of seven or eight friends, for a karaoke night. As usual, we buy our drinks, grab a table, put some songs in, and wait. And wait. And wait. And wait... It becomes very obvious that there's a clique. And if you're in that clique, you're called up to sing. If you're NOT, tough luck, I guess. And when an hour and a half has gone by, and you're STILL waiting to sing, but you've seen a bunch of different people, each called up two or three times, one starts to question whether the karaoke host is just totally oblivious, or taking the *iss. Been to this place before and had similar experiences, but kept persevering. Fool me once, and all that... This was the last time. We're done with this place.

Popped in here for an impromptu lunch with our grandson and daughter. Welcome was lovely and although the menus weren’t printed, the lovely lady chef gave us plenty of options including GF. I had one of the best salads I’ve ever had with cider cooked gammon, my husband had a rarebit and daughter had the salt beef sandwich. Very generous portions and chips were to die for. We’ll definitely be back.

A pub Sunday roast is a pretty ubiquitous tradition and one that most establishments ought to be able to master, the Fountain offer “home cooked meals” and to be fair to them they lived up to the title…it reminded me very much of the roasts my dear mother used to produce and she too was a truly terrible cook. It’s a proper “local” pub, the prices are reasonable and the staff are very pleasant but please for the love of god if you are going to offer food and charge people for it then get a proper chef, or at least someone who can cook to a half decent standard.

My family and I have been going to The Fountain for years. It is always a favourite after a day at the beach as it has a big garden and a pirate ship to keep the children entertained. However, today was the third time in a month where we found dog poo in the garden. I told the lady behind the bar who said she would get someone to deal with it. Upon finding 2 further piles of poo I went in again to tell her. We were there for about 30 minutes and decided to drink up and leave as no action was being taken. The pub wasn't busy and besides, if you're a 'family friendly' pub, shouldn't keeping the garden clean and 'hazard' free be a priority? I'm sorry to say we will not be will not be returning.

Do not come here! It is unprofessional and badly managed! I was promised (in writing) a food buffet for my baby shower and when we arrived that morning I was told by the landlady that the chef had gone home and that there was no food! She tried to come up with some excuse that when I previously spoke to her she mentioned I was free to bring any bits and bobs of my own for the shower (me thinking this meant the cake and the decorations!)I had to send my sister to the local tesco with my debit card to go and buy some snacks for my arriving guests. Being pregnant I was very unhappy to have this stress when all I wanted was for a pleasant and memorable day with all my family and friends when in fact thanks to this bad management I encountered the opposite! What was supposed to be a special a occasion was ruined by the unorganised and uninterested staff. One of my guests wanted to feed her baby and asked a staff member for a high chair, to which she got the response 'it will take a long time to clean and bring down, can't you just feed him in his buggy?' Absolutely disgusting and unprofessional response! She ended up having to feed her baby on her lap with him crying as no high chair was provided.I am also thinking to contact trading standards as I believe the health and safety is not up to date due to the poor management skills I have witnessed thus far. Will never return here again, unless management change as this always used to be such a lovely for the family. The current owners completely ruined my experience here and I'm sure they're not feeling any guilt for this as they had over 30 people buying alcohol and drinks during my baby shower when a usual Sunday would consist of a maximum of 6 locals!

Five of us went here on the spur of the moment on a Friday evening. The first time we have been here to eat. We found a table straight away. I felt the menu offered a limited but varied choice of meals starting from £5. We all had something different: 8oz Rump Steak £9; Jacket with prawns £5; spicy pasta £5; chilli £5; beef burger £8. We all cleared our plates which has to prove something good! The chips and onion rings with the steak and the burger were lovely & crispy - the onion rings even stayed crispy, didn't go soggy like a lot of them do. We didn't have to wait too long for the food to arrive and found the portions were just right. Only one of us had room for a dessert - chocolate torte served with custard £4.The steak was succulent and the burger was 100% beef (you could also have a chicken burger). We would deffo eat here again. :)This pub has a few tables outside and gets busy in the summer months. Warning - it has a car park but of limited proportions.

The Fountain on the corner of Seabrook Road and Horn Street has suffered in the past like many other local pubs, it is now making a comeback and is a wonderful old fashioned local pub, it is big and roomy without being characterless. This is actually our local, we went in for Sunday lunch and had a wonderful huge roast dinner, crispy roasties and fresh tasting veg with the meat being decent meat and not tasting like something precooked and preformed that you buy in a wholesalers. Plates were HOT YEA! Wine was VERY well priced and very good with the beer/lager good too so hub said. The atmosphere was fantastic and it was bustling with people and families. Staff excellent, efficient and know their stuff and friendly too, even to helping me find my glasses which were on my face all the time! We saw other food go out and that looked good too, really good portions. Toilets were top notch and in the summer the garden will be wonderful to sit out in and cook on the bbq. Good old fashioned (only in atmosphere) local that needs to be supported by the community.

I came to the Fountain today, 15 March 2015, for a Mother's Day meal with my siblings, parents and grandparents, and was utterly disappointed. The table was ready when we got there, and the place was reasonably busy. We sat down a little before our booking time, and ordered pretty much straight away. By the time it had got to 30 minutes and our food wasn't out, we asked the waitress where it was. We were told it would be 5-10 minutes, but another half an hour passed and by then my grandparents were starving and we were all very annoyed. There was one waitress working the entire restaurant on a busy Mother's Day afternoon (you would think they may have realised they'd be busy!).When the food finally came out, it was awful. The roast lamb was full of gristle, and the beef was dry and tough. We also ordered a steak, which needed to be taken back into the kitchen and a new one be brought back out. The second one was not much better, and none of the staff apologised.Overall, the experience was pretty poor and unfortunately we will not be returning here.

Horrendous food, horrendous service, horrendous all round! We booked a table for Mother's Day for 1.30 after being advised that they were too busy at 12.30. So that was acceptable and were prepared to put it back a little bit. We ordered the food at 1.45, by 2.40 we still had no food but others in the restaurant who ordered after were served! When my grandads steak came out (1hour 35 mins from original order) to say it was ropey is an understatement! I wouldn't have fed it to a Somalian who had never eaten before! They then said they would do another one for him, the rest of the family were disappointed in their roasts as well and to now wait longer was getting slightly tough to take! We waited 15/20 mins for the next bit that in truth was as bad!!! (Questioning whether it was even steak in truth)! What made it worse is when they served the steak no apology for the terrible service/time/food etc! Avoid avoid avoid at any costs! There are loads of lovely pubs/restaurants in this town and I can assure you I will never return and will advise by social media many others don't make an attempt to try this joke of a place.....! Sad but true!

I arranged this years office 'festive lunch' at The Fountain in Hythe based on venue (close to our working site), eligibility, menu options, cost and parking availability as we're a big group. I was not disappointed at all. From the initial visit onwards, the staff were thoughtful, friendly and accommodating to our every request. Their festive menu was one of the best I've had, high quality and professional at a more than reasonable price. Their curried parsnip soup was wonderful, their antipasto starter looked amazing. The vegetables served with the mains were freshly cooked and in abundance, the meat (I had Turkey) was so very tender and the roasters were beautifully done. The desert options were varied. Of course there was Christmas pudding, but with champagne jelly and cream, poached pear in mulled wine, not to mention a chese board to die for, we were very spoilt for choice. All in all, an excellent meal at an excellent price.I think the young lady who ran the bar and looked after us all could have benefitted from an extra pair of hands as we were a big group with differing menue's and requests. We had her running around a fair bit. however, she did it well with a huge smile on her face, so really couldn't fault it at all - I just wish that we had more time to enjoy the mince pies and coffee at the end, but work beckoned. We were told we could take the mince pies away with us which was a lovely gesture, we didn't though as we're all very sated. There were16 of us in all, and everyone said how fabulous it had all been. A huge thank you to the chef and staff at The Fountain, an excellent choice for our Festive Lunch (their day menu's didn't look bad either), and I would urge others to 'check it out' - you won't be disappointed.

Obviously overwhelmed on the day,as a walking group was also in + the regulars. Most food OK to good but ploughmans awful-stale bread.Although tried to cancel 2 meals by phone beforehand(wouldn't answer phone) had to pay for no shows & only got to take them away on request.Other customers were having problems too.

Grandparents and 2 grandchildren had an evening meal. Different meals were ordered and were eaten with gusto! It is an old fashioned local pub but this shouldn't put anyone off visiting. Mostly the meals appeared to be home made and cooked and we couldn't really fault the quality. I would visit this establishment again.

After a long day of travelling it provided wholesome food, but it is a pub at the end of the day that does meals in addition to the normal pub activities.

We live locally & hadn't used The Fountain for a few years due to bad food in the past. Decided to give it a go in May and was not disappointed. Was quite early in the evening and being nice weather the pub garden was really busy as was the bar area with after work drinkers, everyone seemed friendly enough. Didn't get the mans name behind the bar but very pleasant and helpful. We decided to have the steak & wine deal for £25 and having a run of bad steaks at other places I sat fingers crossed this would be good. I had no worries at all, it was delicious, food was piping hot, steak was cooked to perfection & chips/onion rings fluffy & light.I have since recommended to 5 or 6 friends, we will definitely go back.

Ate there three times during recent trip to Folkestone and very pleased each time. Sunday roast lunches are especially good, and very popular with the more elderly members of our family. Rest of menu is good value and well-prepared/presented pub food. Ideal for families, with garden & little play area, and all the staff are very friendly. Good choice of well-kept beers.

we stayed at the holiday inn nearby and this was recommended.as a good value pub. we arrived a bit early to eat and i asked where i could buy a paper which was just over the road and whilst getting it someone gave their paper to my wife . the landlord was very helpful with the menu , the food for the money was fabulous . and the chocolate sudae for two was huge but soon disappeared.the beer was great and my wife loved the wine spritzer so much she had a second one ( very rare ).i recomend this to anyone who loves non pretentious food in very friendly surrondings.

A group of us eat here recently at lunchtime. We had pre-ordered our food, prior to starting our walk a couple of hours earlier. The food was disappointing and came out so slowly that the first to be served, were finished their meals long before the others had received their meals. My partner and I waited 55 minutes for our ,meal to arrive. They might cope better with couples, but a group of 15-----NO

Lovely pub nice staff. Decor clean tidy well looked after and nice beer garden bug with plenty if seats and tables. The food was great huge portion and glass of beer only cost me £10. Sports on TV flat screens one corner for the diehard sports pool players a darts board in quiter area and plenty of seating. Its a grand looking pub and nice location near beach and main route for buses to Folkestone and Hythe and on to Lydd on sea the other way.I believe meals served in evening after 6pm. I think maybe too quiet for all day. I think maybe 5pm would be better as I'm always hungry by then as are most?It could attract workers who finish at 5pm they won't sit fie an hour before eating at 6pm?A great pub food food nice staff cosy and pleasant.I believe to the gold man who did the gong on rank movies in 50's was landlord Bombardier Billy wells.

Visited after being told that this hotel and bar had been refurbed. if the untidy, dirty and very tired looking bar area is anything to go by then I can't see anyone wanting to spend any time here at all. Even the local clientele left a lot to be desired but were obviously delerious in their surroundings which is akin to a drinking hole as opposed to a hotel bar.As for the refurbishment ?? New bar pumps have been put in .... yippee doozy.Lager was also served flat at an extortionate price .... we won't be rushing back !!

Not lived in the area long and driven by the Fountain many times and it always looks welcomeing so as of a Friday evening my wife and I decided to give it a go . Upon entry it is obvious that one half of the surpriseing large bar is given over to Sky Sports and the rest is a rather charming -quite tastefully decorated restaurant . It was christmas time and thank goodness the place was not over the top with christmas decorations --they were just to the point . Good pub menu --very pleasant girl as waitress-plenty to chose-and all came beautifully cooked --my sirloin steak was just perfect and the chips -jacket potato-and everything else was spot on . The bill at the end did not break your pocket -- all in all well worth the visit --they deserve to prosper .

We ate here mid week on recommendation from the Holiday Inn at Cheriton. The staff were friendly and we found the menu to have quite a selection. The pub is very clean and there is a separate eating area from the main bar. The food is well presented with good sized portions and very tasty. We can recommend the nachos, crispy prawns and spring rolls and beef burger. Great value for money, I would recommend this place to eat.

Such a lovely day. The garden was lovely on arrival and such brightly coloured flowers. Lovely scenic view greeted us. We were impressed. The Fountain had been done up since last time we visited. We were very pleased with the food and the service The main course was delicious and so plentiful that none of us managed to eat all our vegetables. It was very thoughtful to include mint sauce, onion sauce and gravy. I loved the onion sauce.. Such a pretty roulade for pudding. It was very artistic.

Stopped off for lunch whilst holidaying on the south coast in early august. Arrived quite late to them finishing the lunches but they managed to rustle us up a nice tasty lamb roast each. Sat in the garden which was a good size. Nice hospitable friendly staff and management.

The food was quite good, reasonably priced and the service OK but the surroundings are dismal as this is a pub with a serious need for a facelift.

Pass by many times but this time I have decided to give it a try and do my usual coffee break here. The space is alright, the service was okay and the coffee was good. The atmosphere was not the best but the location compensate. I will come back for another coffee breaks.
