We visited last night for dinner as a family of 9. We had a great experience and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending to others and returning if we are in the area again. I spoke to Roxy in advance as my son has allergies so I wanted to ensure they could cater for him. She reassured me they would be able to adapt the menu for him. On arrival I spoke to Rick (the chef) and to my son’s delight we agreed on steak and chips! All our food was delicious with generous portions. We would have stayed longer if our youngest hadn’t fallen asleep at the table! The staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. Thank you so much for catering for my son with no fuss. As an allergy parent this means so much.

Ignore the review that referred to the location of this cafe resembling a scrapyard and an overgrown garden. In fact they are Fort View (tyre replacement) and The Coastal Gardener (plant nursery), both of which are long established and well regarded local businesses. As for The View, it has a superlative position overlooking the Solent and backed by a farm, a campsite and an antiques business. It’s a very nice spot, easy to miss from the road, but well worth seeking out. The cafe has been completely and tastefully refurbished, and the staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. The menu is varied with very fresh ingredients and a ‘Mediterranean’ feel. I am sure they deserve to succeed and wish them all the best.

Huge plus for us as we can walk from our cottage but not a problem to park up in the village in the evening. Proper village pub that did so much for the community during the dark hours of the pandemic. Has undergone a very good overhaul of the whole pub which works well. Food was excellent and our table of 6 ranged from 17 years to 70 so lots of different dishes. 100% worked, from nachos to curries. (Always good as the special curry chef makes several and they are all extremely authentic) all those years of flying long haul makes me extremely picky. New management but retaining old and experienced faces, what could be better. Fish and chips naturally as we are right by the sea here, superb, and chipped potatoes right on the mark. Good value, great ambiance, can be a little busy on quiz nights but that is village life which cheerfully embraces visitors and tourists.

Excellent quality bread. Highly recommend focaccia and baguettes. Also basic pastries range pain au chocolat, croissant and palmier every day plus one suprise bake. Later there are often tarts which looks amazing. One tiny niggle the drinks are a little expensive especially a pot of tea at £4.20.

This cafe used to be known as ‘The Tollgate Cafe’, however, after the previous owners retired, it was bought out by the people who own & run ‘The Best Dressed Crab, a few hundred yards further down the beach, it is now known as ‘The Harbour View’. Sadly, what was once a cute, well managed & friendly café with very reasonable food, has now become a place with sometimes rude staff & extortionate prices. It’s still a lovely place to sit & watch the harbour from, but £2.00 for a can of Coke, no thank you, go elsewhere, I do now.
