Ignore the review that referred to the location of this cafe resembling a scrapyard and an overgrown garden. In fact they are Fort View (tyre replacement) and The Coastal Gardener (plant nursery), both of which are long established and well regarded local businesses. As for The View, it has a superlative position overlooking the Solent and backed by a farm, a campsite and an antiques business. It’s a very nice spot, easy to miss from the road, but well worth seeking out. The cafe has been completely and tastefully refurbished, and the staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. The menu is varied with very fresh ingredients and a ‘Mediterranean’ feel. I am sure they deserve to succeed and wish them all the best.

You turn into their drive, and immediately you are looking at old cars, caravans and an overgrown, uncared for garden. The cafe is tiny, but there is outside seating with good sea views, although the garden seating is extremely tatty. The whole place needs smarting up and money spent to improve the surroundings. The food was nice but tiny portions for the money, and small bottles of coke at £3 each. The cafe has changed hands recently, so let's hope they do well. Certainly there are better cafes in the area.

The View recently re opened under new ownership this month so was excited to pop along and try out the breakfast one Sunday as it's very local to where we live. Ignore any dodgy review prior to May 24. Amazing views, hence the name! A real suntrap to sit out side in the warmer months! Breakfast was decent and really friendly staff. We've been back several times and also had a lunch there which again, was very nice and decent portions sizes!! Definitely going to be back a lot more aswell as it's perfect location almost on my doorstep.

Stopped for a cream tea which the wife enjoyed. Usual 2 scones provided with jam and clotted cream and a good pot of tea. They normally do Gluten Free cream tea but due to high demand had sold out of GF scones. They were however able to supply GF cheese scones so I had a savoury version of cream tea, 2 GF cheese scones, a tomato chutney and a cream cheese. Was very nice and would recommend.

A very peaceful place to stay, in the centre of Newport, conveniently located, close to the bus station and to restaurants. Charming interiors, with a lot of character. Spacious, comfortable and clean room. Breakfast is served, and freshly prepared after the order is made. Hostess is friendly and Staff polite. We will definitely stay there again!

Stopped here for tea and we're so glad we did. Loose leaf tea in a china tea pot (not one of those awful stainless steel ones that dribbles all over the table), a tea strainer, china cups and saucers and a china milk jug - this is how tea should be served. The Bakewell slice and chocolate cake were both delicious and the portions very generous. The friendly welcome and engaging staff added to the enjoyment. Looking forward to the next visit.
