What a little treasure of a cafe. Fabulous breakfast! Anything you could wish for is on the menu. Great selection for vegetarian/vegan diets. Would wholeheartedly recommend. Set us up great for our cycle ride!

Coast Restaurant is not only a fantastic place to eat, with excellent food choices, but the idea behind this concept is truly admirable. Set in the heart of Hastings College, the restaurant is staffed by the students themselves (with obviously an overseeing eye from the appropriate tutors!). All of the chefs, catering and front of house teams are college students who are learning their skills in a safe, educational but very genuine work environment. What a fantastic place to learn their crafts!! We have been here several times including three excellent Christmas dinners and every visit has been brilliant. Yes, sometimes the odd glass gets dropped or the potatoes come up a little crispy, but isn't that the whole point ...... the youngsters make the odd mistake as part of their learning experience so that they are best prepared for the real world, and I for one am very happy if I can be a customer and part of that journey for them. This place will always have my fullest support not only as a great place to eat, but also a superb place to learn.

Bought some flowers for my friend from the shop this morning, they all look nice. Especially the yellow tulips. But I’m not very good at arranging/choosing flowers for the bouquet, then I asked them for advice, I got nothing but a knowledge from the shop girl “all the flowers are beautiful.”

Went in for a coffee and cake with my partner, which was a little over priced but OK. Unfortunately I was appalled by awful behavior of a member of staff to a customer. They had bought a coffee, but had purchased a pastry from elsewhere previously, and was picking at it out of the bag. It was pointed out to them in the bluntest of terms that the pastry was not purchased from the shop, and the customer was politely apologetic. Increadibly the staff member launched into a tirade of abuse creating a very uncomfortable atmosphere for all. She was certainly rude and almost bullying in her approach. Very unprofessional and I'm sure that the customer will never visit again. For that matter, I don't think that I, or my partner, would want to go to a place where staff behave in this way.

Looks like my review was removed. I was here last night but only men were served even though I was there first. I objected as a staff member reached past my left ear to take money from man behind me. As my review as been removed with no apology from the pub management, I will now forward a complaint to the licensing department. I won't go away until the pub changes its practice. Equality for all customers.

GRAND RUE DE PERA NO LONGER EXISTS. The owner has moved away and something else will appear at 73-74 Queens Rd, apparently to be named - Q.

It was my first time coming here and my friend treated me for my Birthday to afternoon tea. There were loads of tasty treats provided by the lovely owner. You get SO MUCH for your money and it is all good quality. I recommend a visit and would definitely return!

I ordered a Mediterranean breakfast and my partner got the jacket potato, the portion for the breakfast was tiny, and wasn't great for the price, being the same as the larger breakfast options. the jacket potato, even though covered in the beans tomato sauce, still managed to be dry. Felt like we were being rushed by the staff, bringing our puddings out while we were still eating and the pudding was the only highlight of the meal. Wouldn't come back, let alone order any of the same food.
