What a little treasure of a cafe. Fabulous breakfast! Anything you could wish for is on the menu. Great selection for vegetarian/vegan diets. Would wholeheartedly recommend. Set us up great for our cycle ride!

Amazingly busy cafe, serving a variety of decent breakfasts. I had a bacon Sandwich and tea, served up almost immediately. The cooking area was a hive of activity, I guess no one waited long to eat. Friendly staff, cash or card, well worth a visit.

Came here for breakfast with friends when visiting. They live locally and rate it highly so I was happy to go. It’s called breakfast ‘zone’ so assumed they’d cater for all. They have various fixed options for breakfast including 1 veggie. I asked a waitress if the sausages were vegan and was told “Well we don’t know if they have eggs or ‘anything’ in them”. Goodness knows what ‘anything’ is! Her response didn’t fill me with confidence, nor did I trust her if she’d even bothered to check. I decided to go for the pick 5 items breakfast option. I asked if they had vegan spread, and was told ‘I think it is… but would you like me to check.” She did and her reply was, “No sorry it isn’t”. Good job I’d asked her to then, and that was toast off the menu (not being a fan of dry toast!). She did tell me the mushrooms and tomatoes were vegan as not cooked in butter so that was one thing (well 2 things). Scanning the breakfast options…. Numerous non veggie things, not so much if you can’t or won’t eat dairy or meat. My non-veggie friends were really apologetic at the lack of options and suggested we go somewhere else and had a quick look online. I said it would be fine, I was sure I’d be able to find 5 items. Scanning the options it was very limited, one being the ubiquitous felafel (I’m not a huge fan but as above… limited options), and thought it might make it more substantial. I ended up choosing mushrooms, grilled cherry tomatoes, felafel and 2 hash browns. My friends easily chose theirs, and decent potions too. When my sorry looking plate finally arrived, the hash browns were inexplicably missing and I was told “they were coming shortly”. It was also just 1 falafel which appeared and tasted homemade however it was the smallest felafel I’ve ever seen in my life, one of my friends actually gasped and said “Is that ‘it?!’” Slightly larger than a cherry tomato and at 1 option from the items available, it felt like a complete rip off and certainly not the equivalent of 1 sausage for example, you’d need at least 3 to be anywhere near. I decided to wait for the hashbrowns to ‘bulk up’ my empty looking plate. They took over 5 minutes to arrive, on a saucer, so the rest was pretty cold by then. The mushrooms and toms were nice enough, cold but ok. I ate everything as I was starving by this time but it didn’t exactly fill me up. The coffee I had was really nice, with plant based milk so they’ve given some thought to certain things. However, in 2025 at a place called Breakfast ‘Zone’ , I was extremely disappointed to be made to feel like I was putting people out and then faced with such limited options for breakfast. To not even be able to have beans on toast that isn’t dry is pretty disappointing to say the least. Those with dairy intolerances also obviously not catered for. Most other reviews here are really positive which is no doubt due to them being from those who eat meat/dairy. My score is mostly for the coffee. The owners seemed friendly as we left as we said goodbye but I didn’t want to complain as my friends felt really bad and like the place so I didn’t want to spoil this or make them feel any worse in that moment. I was also just feeling really disappointed, and hungry! I genuinely hope the owners read this and make a few, simple improvements as it wouldn’t take much to cater for all. Stick some vegan sausages in the freezer (Linda McCartney’s aren’t exactly hard to come by). Nor is Flora spread. By the time my ‘saucered’ hash browns arrived, they could have sent one of the waitresses to the local co-op and bought some! Adding a vegan brekkie to the set menu so vegans, and those with dairy intolerances, aren’t made to feel like they don’t matter. Making the menu clear what is, or isn’t, vegan would be really appreciated (including the other stuff on the menu not just breakfast items), would simplify everything and removes the need for customers having to ‘bother’ the waitresses who clearly don’t really know the basics. A little research and staff awareness wouldn’t hurt either. Also maybe consider increasing the size of the felafel, or making 1, a decent portion rather than just 1 tiny offering. Trip adviser lists vegan options for Breakfast Zone but my experience of this in reality wasn’t great. I found myself wishing I’d just gone for a plate of chips for breakfast! With a few small changes, hopefully other customers don’t need to nip to Greggs straight after to buy a vegan sausage roll as they’re still hungry!

We came here today had English breakfast and Egg Benedict. The food was lovely and friendly staff. We will definitely come back again.

We love going to this very vibrant café set in the heart of St. Leonards-on-Sea. The owner, and the rest of staff, are exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and the service is excellent, as is the food on offer. It is always, nearly full, but we have always managed to get a seat, and attracts a great cross-section of people from the local area. If you're on your own, there is a lot of pedestrian traffic outside so you have always something to see! This also a very, very clean premises, and the toilets, which are located downstairs, are always impeccably clean.

This place is exceptional, the food is insanely good the staff and management are friendly and welcoming you really do get looked after here.

Lovely caff in Hastings. The staff were like clockwork, great food, great prices. I got onion rings with my breakfast like the basic ‘itch’ that I am and it was all delicious. A lovely cross section of life sitting at the tables too. Go for a fry up with a paper or a hangover lol with your pals.

You can come here for an excellent English breakfast. As a tourist, I don’t have much to compare it to, but we think it’s fantastic and will definitely come back. Many dishes include bacon or pork, but fortunately, you can ask for alternatives, such as beef (in my case) or vegetarian options. It can get busy at times, so you might have to wait, but the turnover is quick as many guests stay for a short while, often just before heading to work. The owners and staff are friendly and attentive, which makes the experience complete.

It’s lovely! The staff is kind, service is usually quite quick, and the food is very good. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for lunch near the beach.

The service was amazing!! And the same with the food. But the owner’s attitude was disgusting. The men were very rude to the young girls working, giving orders left right and centre, tone of voice and choice of words towards the girl’s was unbelievable ,while they were busy themselves from what I could tell, all while they could have got up from the table and did it themselves or offered some help as they are they’re staff very unprofessional . I won’t be visiting again because of this I feel sorry for the girls.

Amazing breakfasts. My husband had the special breakfast and I had eggs royale. Both were made with high quality, fresh ingredients. The staff were attentive and friendly. Highly recommend.

Love these guys, been missing liver and bacon since I moved to bexhill - decided to walk as the weather was great today. Walked the hour and a half only for them not to have any liver, did they not go and buy it from next door as I said top guys and the food/service was great 👍🏾

7 of us just had the best breakfast together.

We went in a few months ago with a large group of friends. The staff were hugely accommodating and made sure we were all sitting together. The food came out quickly and was delicious, just what we needed! Everyone was very friendly and we had a great time!

Breakfast two mornings. OMG. Tasty, plentiful and well presented with great tea and coffee. Really good selection of breakfasts and other foods. What a find. You can tell it is a place for regulars as well. So pleased we found you for our weekend stay.

The cuppaccinos are alright but we ordered the flapjacks with nutella, m 'n m's , bananas etc---totally the wrong choice. Way too sweet and the flapjacks were tasteless. On the other hand, my sister ordered a breakfast plate with eggs, bacon, beans, bubble n squeak, toast and stewed tomatoes. It looked really good.

First visit today as we were at the pier festival, glowing reviews on trip advisor so decided to give it a try, lovely clean tidy cafe , organised with great food choices all cooked well and taste lovely , the staff were young but giving really great service , constantly on the go cleaning and serving, spotless toilets , wouldn’t hesitate to recommend 👍

We were in town and decided to pop in for Sunday brunch to this little cafe. Food was delicious, hot and freshly made, good service, fairly priced too. I would highly recommend and also we would come back if visiting again. We also had a chat with the lovely owner. Thank you, keep it up that way.

We were visiting Friends in the town and decided to pop in for breakfast to this little cafe. Food was delicious,hot and freshly made, decent service, fairly priced too. I would highly recommend and also I would come back if visiting again. Thank you, keep it up that way.

Went to this breakfast cafe on the 9th June 2024 after going to a event on the Saturday in the area so wanted a good breakfast and this cafe didn't disappoint we was a good of 6 and even though the cafe is small they still fitted us in The food is 10/10 so fresh and didn't wait at all long we all had different breakfast and the presentation on all was great we had the vegetarian breakfast, Mediterranean breakfast, pooch eggs,cheese toasty and a salmon breakfast all of us enjoyed all of are breakfasts the colleagues were very friendly as well Would definitely come back to this cafe if I was in the area again 😊👌

This place is a lovely find. Food is 10/10 and staff are friendly, helpful, polite, professional and even helped out a friend who is gluten free. We visit every time when in Hastings. Hastings pier ravers.

An institution! There aren’t many cafes left like Breakfast Zone left, it reminds of the cafes I used to go to with my dad when I was a small lad. You’re always welcomed with a smile and a warm heart, an excellent atmosphere and food to match. With great prices you won’t find else where. A firm favourite and not to be missed!

Fabulous breakfast, always busy, so was a bit slow to arrive.

A good traditional cafe, just a short walk from the sea-front. It gets busy - the first day we went, we couldn't get in! However, they did have room for us the second time, and we loved our breakfasts. There can be a bit of a wait for the food to come, but I'd definitely visit again - the fried bread is perfect!

I've been here a few times, the service is always good and the food is great! When I'm nearby it is my breakfast/brunch go to place!

Food was awful cold and poor quality Witnessed the "cook" handling raw meat then cooked and cash without washing hands. Also saw him wiping down with a filthy cloth different areas around kitchen area. No surprise I had upset stomach later that day. I only ate my food as I starving. Ruined my holiday 😒

So we arrived full of hope for a lovely breakfast. Service was quick and friendly. Unfortunately we witnessed the cook handling raw bacon then cash then cooked food with out washing hands. Oh and using a cloth wiping raw and cooked areas. Coffee came luke warm. Food arrived. Beans was not cooked. Food was cold. Ate cause we was starving. Will definitely not be returning. How ever the e h o should pay a visit.

I went here with a friend for lunch, it is a very well run and friendly place; the owner is an absolute star! The quality of the food was excellent, and the coffee is always so good. The service was equally excellent with a very attentive waitress. It is no wonder at all that this café is always full to bursting when we have been there. It is great to see a very, very good cafe being so well supported and appreciated by the local community.

What an absolutely brilliant breakfast spot. We finished eating there under an hour ago and we had to leave a review straight away. All four of us built our own breakfast from a fantastic selection of cooked to order items and everything was completely delicious. The grilled cherry tomatoes were perfectly cooked, well seasoned and garnished with herbs, the sausages were excellent quality, the poached eggs were wonderfully runny and the hash browns were crisp and golden. My partner said the avocado was really flavoursome and well spiced ‘one of the best he’s had’, and we are all so looking forward to going back. Our waitress was really friendly and helpful and the chefs were smiley and lovely and did a great job cooking everything fresh to order. Not at all pretentious, excellent value for money and genuinely delicious. St Leonard’s is an amazing place for food and this is no exception - I’m so happy my parents have just moved back!

The first breakfast I tried was the Mediterranean breakfast, today it was the New York one (see photo for what you get!). I go for Americano coffee, was not disappointed. The decor inside is crisp & clean , the mural reflects the local buildings, and was done by hand apparently! Very pleasant staff, great service check you are enjoying your food. You get what you pay for and there is not a lot of fat in the breakfast, a very pleasant surprise. Count us in now as regulars!

An absolute delicious freshly made breakfast. Wonderful atmosphere, great staff and overall great dinner experience. It made what was a gloomy weather day into a nice sunny experience.

Fantastic cafe with excellent friendly service and freshly cooked food. Great choice of breakfast and brunch dishes. You can even create a completely customized meal. My daughter had a traditional fry up and I had eggs Benedict. Both delicious and good portions. Highly recommended.

Unusual breakfast selection, great Americano coffee. I chose breakfast that included peppers, feta cheese, black olives, salad and what you see in the photo! My friend chose the New York breakfast including blueberries, banana, pancakes, honey etc. I'm keen to try that another time. Other friend chose traditional English breakfast. Expensive, but worth it. The photos speak for themselves. Clean and tidy inside and v good waitress service. A real hit. Will definitely return! I liked the fact they had balance between expensive and less expensive options.

Ok but not as good as old England pub better value and better quality and lot cheaper and lot nicer

All I can say is one of the best fry ups I've ever had. It was perfectly cooked. Not huge but enough, washed down with tea. Really nice staff as well. Highly recommended.

Always good food and friendly service

My partner and I had 2 nights accommodation nearby and needed to find somewhere for breakfast. This tiny cafe was a brilliant find, the staff were friendly and efficient, the food was freshly cooked, prices were reasonable. We had different cooked breakfasts each day and couldn't fault it. The staff apologised for the short delay but it's to be expected when they're at full capacity and cooking to order, it wasn't a problem for us at all. Would highly recommend.
