Looks like my review was removed. I was here last night but only men were served even though I was there first. I objected as a staff member reached past my left ear to take money from man behind me. As my review as been removed with no apology from the pub management, I will now forward a complaint to the licensing department. I won't go away until the pub changes its practice. Equality for all customers.

A great choice to stop after our long walk in the country park, it was quiet but the service was good and the food even better. When visiting Hastings again, I will definitely visit again.

Great impromptu night. Met a small group to see in the platinum jubilee with, cheap and well kept beer. Perfect finish to the night.

Fantastic pub with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. Good pint of guiness and a great option for live sport. Other pubs in the area might have posher vibes and a more extensive drinks menu, but don't be put off by the comparatively simple decor and beer selection. Will be going back for sure

Clean bar area of the pub, toilets were a little dirty. You're able to play any sort of music from a jukebox (7 songs for £3). Relatively cheap drinks. Quiet pub.

We visit hastings a few times a year, and never been to this local pub before as always been closed, this visit it was open, and we were so happy it was as we found a little jem, home from home. The owners are so welcoming and friendly, they make you feel comfortable and it felt like we had know them for years and that it was our local pub. The staff are friendly too. David is great. Even the regulars made us feel welcome, chatting and laughing, there's something for everyone, and even of they aint got what you want, they will try to accommodate you. We are returning in spetember, can't wait to go back for my vanilla vodka 😋

Popped in to this gorgeous little pub, purely by chance at the start of Pirates Weekend. Paul and Julie made us very welcome and the jukebox is fabulous! I'm ex military and loved the War Room which Paul encouraged me to write my service number up on. Great atmosphere and Paul is hoping to start a Breakfast Club for all service veterans very shortly. We will see them again August Bank Holiday weekend as we'll be back down again then. See you soon guys! Donna & Steve

My family and I stumbled across this gem back in July 2020 when it had recently been taken over by a great couple, Julie and Paul. The atmosphere there was relaxed and easy. We had such an enjoyable time and vowed to return. Then came another “lock down” and our return was postponed. Lock down was lifted and we couldn’t wait to return and did so this Saturday. Although many improvements had been made, a beautiful log burner in a through fireplace that serves two of the 3 drinking areas (each with its’ on vibe, an easy laid back area, an old public bar area and the middle bar a space to gather with family and chat), they didn’t detract from giving this pub that true authentic atmosphere not found in many pubs today. It was a shame it rained as they had completely ‘made over’ the albeit small, outside space by placing a few tables and benches to sit and enjoy the sea air. Planters brimming with beautiful seasonal flowers. The boot on the roof is definitely a talking point! However none of these improvements on their own make an atmosphere. This comes from the welcome you receive from Julie and Paul as soon as you walk through the door. They epitomise what landlords’ used to offer. They even remembered our names! Due to the adherence of Covid regulations we had to wear masks when entering/walking through the pub and couldn’t go up to the bar to order drinks, however once seated we were waited on. Which was even better !!! We got to know and like this couple even more. They said that the piano wasn’t just for show and that many a night had been spent singing along. All of the above has left us eager to return. And we definitely will.

A lovely local pub. Taken over by Paul and Julie only recently and they have transformed it With great decorations, different zones (leather sofas and armchairs at the back, A middle bar with jukebox, and louder front bar) They have opened up the old chimney and installed a wood burner, which is between the back and middle areas and makes it really cosy. They also have a piano and one night we were there they had a fabulous piano player playing all kinds of music. I believe this is to become a more regular feature. The beer is well kept and served with a smile. I’m not sure whether it is a free house or not but they had a kind of local ale I hadn’t tried before and it was delicious. Anyway all round well worth a visit.

The new owners of this pub have put a lot of effort and time into redecorating and it looks fantastic. There is a comfortable sofa area at the back, a cool middle bar and the front bar, which is more like an old style public bar. Friendly and basic at the front.. These areas all have a slightly different field and a cosy wood burner between the two back bars. The new owners - Paul and Julie – are so friendly and welcoming and have really put this place back on the Hastings pub map. They have a piano in the back and we had a great piano player the other day – I think this is to become a regular feature. Highly recommended and well worth a visit.

If you are looking for an authentic pub to wile away an hour or two or want to see a sports event on TV this is the perfect spot in the Old Town. The locals are really friendly as is the bar staff, this pub is a free house so offers a good choice of beers and features 30 different gins if that is your thing. Definitely worth a visit.

Nice pub, excepting the men’s loo, no light or lock to the cubical and there is the air conditioning fan out back, not a beer garden as such. One ale on tap another in a bottle, great gin selections.

Horrible. Avoid. Only one ale available, everything else off. Absolutely nothing in bottle. Tiny beer garden with constant noise from a big cellar fan and the smell of bins. Daytime clientele exclusively tradesmen, compared with Hastings Old Town usual mixture of tourists and locals. So many great old pubs in this area, there's really no need to go to this one unless you are up for the 2-for-1 gins on a Friday evening. They do have a good range of gins, although singles appear pricey given the ambience. Probably good for the footie or a meat raffle.

This is situated near the Rock-a-Nore car park by the wonderful black fishing huts of Hastings. Very friendly service and dog friendly. We both had sea bass on crushed potatoes and carrot puree with a butter and garlic sauce. One of the best fish meals I’ve ever had- and I’ve had a lot. Delicious.

Went in for a coffee and cake with my partner, which was a little over priced but OK. Unfortunately I was appalled by awful behavior of a member of staff to a customer. They had bought a coffee, but had purchased a pastry from elsewhere previously, and was picking at it out of the bag. It was pointed out to them in the bluntest of terms that the pastry was not purchased from the shop, and the customer was politely apologetic. Increadibly the staff member launched into a tirade of abuse creating a very uncomfortable atmosphere for all. She was certainly rude and almost bullying in her approach. Very unprofessional and I'm sure that the customer will never visit again. For that matter, I don't think that I, or my partner, would want to go to a place where staff behave in this way.

Didn't really feel cosy or have any atmosphere which are things I like from places serving coffee. Understand it to be very popular with its regulars, though, just not for me
