Amazing Sunday dinner. Prob the best we’ve had in years. Really fresh, beef cooked to perfection (other half very fussy meat eater) - veggie nut roosts tasty and veggies really fresh. Good service. Lovely cosy decor. Would definitely come again.

Out for brunch at a slow time with only two tables total (including ours). There were four front of house staff, so as many waitresses as patrons. Staff were chatting and forgot our table! From there it went from bad to worse. The cappuccino was cold. The restaurant was cold - with door wide open in March. Strange food substitutions were made without asking first. £5 extra charges were made without notifying us of the cost. Condiments were offered but not delivered. The eggs were sunny side up AND overcooked - which I've never seen a cook do before! Like other diners mention, there were too many weird flavour combos. As the blonde commented "If you're doing something classic, don't f**k with it! Just do it really well" Don't combine smoky sauce and parsley ; 0 This should have been the best brunch ever at an expensive £28 for two breakfast buns and two hot drinks. Alas drinks, food, atmosphere, and service were all poor by comparison.

Called here for a takeaway lunch, used them several times before. Service was disappointing to say the least. Not a please or thankyou from the ladies working in the shop - even when I pointed out they'd only charged me for 1 flat white! Previous reviews also highlight the fact that the staff are miserable, they respond but do nothing to address the concerns raised. Also, I would've thought that as u was the only customer in the shop on a very wet day would have been positive for them - obviously not! Not sure I'll return here.

Called in on a very wet Saturday afternoon for a spot of lunch and to dry out after a very wet walk with our Springer Nice friendly welcome and some nice beers on offer A small menu but the food we opted for was superb Two pasta dishes, pumpkin and clam were both devoured. Would definitely recommend.

An absolutely perfect place to rest and re-energise, with wonderful hospitality from Leon. Our food portions were plentiful and nourishing and drinks were refreshing and a fair price. Accommodation was just what we needed; all the essentials needed to recuperate. Very dog friendly and welcoming.

Shambolic Management, I have never been in a place where the staff worked so hard to turn customers away on the pretence that they were short staffed, I was appalled at the way they dealt with an elderly gentleman who visited the pub with his daughter to make a booking for dinner, the staff flatly refused to take a booking and told him that he'd have to turn up and take pot luck that there was availability, disgusting. A shame really because the beer was good and the food was ok, but the bar manager, thought he was doing customers a favour by accommodating them. He and the waitress were leaving to return to London, she was very pleasant by the way. Liked the atmosphere of the place, but the way customers were treated was a disgrace, I've never seen so many people spoken to in such a rude manor, hopefully his replacement will have a desire to be pleasant and accommodating.

Arrived with my wife for some tea and coffee as the weather was shall we say, rather wet. The Man who served us seemed preoccupied with tapping on his phone and seemed uninterested in serving, perhaps we came at a bad time? I don't know. Anyway the tea was weak and my coffee was lukewarm. The whole place just seemed rather soulless and no atmosphere which is a shame because it could do so much better. The place was clean however but it just needs a bit more life and friendliness.

If I could give Joe a 100* review then I would. My husband fell off his bike not far from Wray Castle and Joe's girlfriend stopped to help, and rang Joe to come and help us. I cannot thank Joe enough, he was with us within minutes and very kindly took us (and our bikes) back to Ambleside. My husband was hurt, but not enough to need an ambulance We didn't have any money and he said he wouldn't have taken any even if we had. This could have been an absolute nightmare but because of Joe's kindness, it just made things easier. What a guy, thank you so so much, I can't tell you how much we appreciated your help.

As we were staying a few doors away and it was a rainy day, we decided to have a takeaway lunch from this lovely little takeaway/cafe. There were seven of us so we had a good selection of the hot food on offer and also chose some of their cakes for afterwards. The order was all freshly made while I waited and the food was delicious. The soup deserves a special mention as does the caramel shortbread. I read the one star review from someone who wasn’t allowed to take a dog in and the cafe owners are absolutely right with this - they are really small with I think only 8 seats and it wouldn’t be nice for other people eating if someone had a dog in there (and I say that as someone on holiday with two dogs). Definitely recommend The Old Cobblers.

Fab little cafe. Really friendly staff, especially young man who offered food left over when closing. Coffee great too. Do go.

We had Sunday lunch at the Red Lyon Inn, I had the pork which was delicious & my husband had the beef again his was delicious. Despite the pub getting busier we didn’t have to wait long for our meals. The staff are lovely and friendly too and can’t do enough for you. We will definitely be going here to eat in the future. Thank you Red Lyon Inn.
