As we were staying a few doors away and it was a rainy day, we decided to have a takeaway lunch from this lovely little takeaway/cafe. There were seven of us so we had a good selection of the hot food on offer and also chose some of their cakes for afterwards. The order was all freshly made while I waited and the food was delicious. The soup deserves a special mention as does the caramel shortbread. I read the one star review from someone who wasn’t allowed to take a dog in and the cafe owners are absolutely right with this - they are really small with I think only 8 seats and it wouldn’t be nice for other people eating if someone had a dog in there (and I say that as someone on holiday with two dogs). Definitely recommend The Old Cobblers.

Shocking did not get through the door no dogs allowed ! Its the Lake District . The cafe was empty they must loose at lot of money by not accepting well behaved dogs

Another cafe in Hawkshead that closes at 2pm on a Friday in July. Didn’t even get through the door before we were told ‘we are closed.’ Won’t be back to try again. Businesses in Hawkshead are struggling, visitor numbers are declining, sad to see

Superb home made cakes and savouries. Tried the sausage roll, fresh out of the oven - excellent! Also managed to sample a few of the cakes and traybakes. All lovely. Worthy of special mention for me is the coconut tart with chocolate base.

Nice friendly cafe centrally located. Small. Does a lot of takeaway breakfasts which must be good. Ambience would be better with gentle background music otherwise everyone's whispering.

Lovely little cafe just off the centre of hawkshead. We only had coffee and cake, all delicious and homemade. Quite basic menu but all, pies and sausage rolls included, made fresh. Reasonably priced. They only have 3 tables but on a nice day a takeaway would be ideal.

Tiny cafe in the centre of hawkshead village. Only 3 tables. Drinks served in lovely pottery and staff friendly. Cake was really good. Only complaints would be why wrap all the cakes in cling film? It doesn’t look nice. Also they turned away a family of 4 as they only had 3 chairs free but space for more. Buy more chairs! Crazy turning away business. Lovely quaint cafe but could be made bigger by clearing out unneeded furniture and getting rid of the cling film.

As a family of 5 with 3 young children 11,9 and 8 we were lucky to find this place and get a table in it as we had a lovely relatively inexpensive healthy lunch. Found Hawkshed eateries very expensive for a family. Unfortunately all their pies had sold out when we arrived but we did get lovely freshly make sandwiches. Staff were friendly and were always kept busy even though the cafe is very small. Seemed a lot of locals used this cafe for takeaways. If I was in Hawkshead again I would definately go back here

We happened on this cute little tearoom which only has 3 tables.Luckily one was free so we sat down and ordered a light bite for lunch. We both had a piece of the homemade cakes (a scone and a bakewell) which were delicious and served by friendly staff. Locals were always popping in to buy things which demonstrates this little eatery is recommended. Great find!

Usually when in Hawkshead we have a pub lunch if we eat at all , but on this occasion we only wanted a sandwich and a soft drink. A couple of the places we would usually choose were closed so we wandered a little further and spotted The Old Cobblers. Unfortunately it was full ! We returned 3 more times before spotting a couple leaving and dived in quickly before the seats were taken ! It does not take many people to fill this room as it only has enough seating for 8 - 2 x tables for 2 +1 x table for 4. Inside it has a cosy, cottagey feel- lovely on a cool damp day. There were a selection of cakes on the counter which we didn`t try but the sandwiches we ordered were delicious- fresh with plenty of filling. The 2 ladies who served there were very friendly and pleasant and we were pleased with our little `find`. Now we know its there we shall definitely go again.

35 years ago as kids we used to come here to get an apple pie for after dinner and it's brilliant to see on my return in 2017 that it's still open. Cheap, great pies, veggie ones too.

Returned to this very small coffee shop. If you start at the main car park you do have to walk right through the village but its worth it. We had coffee and cakes which were very good but the best part was talking to the owners and the one other customer; we got a lovely insight into the community that is Hawkshead. The food is genuinely home made and we will return for something more substantial

We stopped in here after hiking to Latterbarrow and back. The home made soup went down really well, butterbean and sundried tomato along with a beef and horseradish sandwich and a cheese and onion toastie. Solid, homemade fare. You cannot go wrong.

A very small and cramped but cosy tea room with only 3 tables.A nice welcome from the two ladies who serve from behind the counter. We enjoyed Carrot & lentil soup with a cheese sandwich. Take away food is available, all being reasonably priced. It's a pity it is so small because several prospective customers looked in but had to go elsewhere. I can recommend the food, the pies and cakes also looked good!

Ive now decided aswell as sausages, this ladies scones will be part of my last meal on earth.Lets not forget her Rocky road slices, melt in the mouth, with just the right amount of biscuit crunch and marshmallow goo. All washed down with a creamy, chocolatey Mocha coffee. The owner was the hostess with the mostest listening to my grumblings about my forced march through the Lake district woods with my superfit sweetheart.Thank you and hope you enjoy The Chronicles of Tania.Love and best wishes.Lacey Webs.xxxx

We only wanted a coffee and a cake as it was only 11.15 AM but had to queue for 20 minutes behind people ordering hot food and spending ages deciding what they wanted at the last minute Nice stuff but it needs organising a lot better Guess as its volunteer run it depends very much on what the staffing is on the day They need a separate area for those just having coffee etc rather than a meal
