Not value for money. Only 4 people out of 12 were satisfied with their meals. Other dishes the food was warmed up. Never came to ask if we wanted drinks at the table

Went there on Thursday tea time. Staff were great, food was great, atmosphere was great. Loved it.

Good value for money in terms of food. Generous portions and well prepared. Service was really good. The only negative on this occasion was the unpleasant smell left by, I presume, some cleaning chemical.

Decent ale, food looked good (we didn't eat). Quite rowdy in beer garden (Sat night)

Got the footlong Cumberland sausage and Cajun chicken burger! Wow, they were fab and service was really good too.

Such a lovely pub. Took a big group for Sunday lunch and they accommodated us outside which was very appreciated. Dogs are welcome. Sunday lunch is generous and delicious and shout out to the salt and pepper fries. The service was really, really great despite it being very busy. Lovely pub and restaurant in the centre of Ulverston. The staff were friendly, the pub is attractive and inviting, with little rooms, and a real open fire. Good selection of beers and ales at a good price. Great choice of food, cooked to perfection, warm and tasty, good portions, great value.

We booked for dinner and we took our two large dogs with us. They accommodated us very well. We were given a table big enough to get both dogs under. They stayed under there with a treat each whilst we ate our meal. The food was excellent. I had sirloin steak, cooked to perfection and the additional pepper sauce was wonderful too. Our party also had the gammon and the steak burger and all were very good. Our desert was the chocolate brownie and this was also very good and a good size without being too big or too small after a large main course. All in all, it is a great venue that serves very good food.

Amazballs in the vibe department, absolutely rambunctious in that bear garden. Seagulls, old men, youngens the works. Double voddie for a 5ver. Would highly recommend for the vibes, highs and lows. Would return in 2 shakes of a lambs tail for another. Lol (lots of lovelies, Bootiful dog xoxo

On holiday in ulverston staying at Lowflan glamping pods. The owners of Lowflan Glamping pods recommend you so we came to try and was not disappointed. Me and my son both had steak and ale pie. It was beautiful my son said the best he's ever had and said the gravy was better than mine his mum 😂 my Husband and other son both had burgers and said they were delicious. We would definitely come back and highly recommend this place to anyone visiting ulverston. Charming pub and delicious 😋 food.

I always enjoy coming here for a meal when I'm visiting Ulverston. The Rose and Crown is a lovely cosy pub with great service and an excellent atmosphere. The food is of a high standard and you get a really great portion size, I highly recommend this establishment.

Old pub, nice people and good cider.

This was one of the best pub teas I’ve had. The Cajun chicken was absolutely faultless. So tasty. My partner has the Sunday roast which was amazing too. The service and atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. Very good value. We will definitely make this our local.

I booked a table at the Rose & Crown in order to dine with my visitors from California. We were given a table and ordered but one of our orders was not correct. Our waitress was very polite but another person came to our table, could have been the manager and spoke to the youngest guest, 22 years old, in an extremely derogatory way, almost blaming him for not being specific with his order. I stepped in and tried to remind him that he was talking to a guest. He took the order which the young man made and left. 20 minutes later the food arrived but part of the order was missing, the young man raised the issue and was immediately rebuked. I tried to step in but the man pointed a finger at me and told me to 'Wind my neck in'. I was extremely embarrassed for my guests and was appalled that they had to witness such rudeness and hoped they didn't think this was typical of Ulverston, Cumbria and England on the whole. I will never eat in this establishment again, extremely poor!

Avoid the mussels. Either over cooked or frozen very rubbery. Looked delicious, but not to be repeated

The best pub lunch we have had in a long time. Absolutely delicious, good value for money and excellent service.

Lovely pub, staff very helpful and friendly. Menu, good choice available. Vegetrian and vegan choices as well. Reasonably priced. The place was clean, and the toilets were too. Plenty of seating available inside and outside. Definitely would revisit if in the area. Children welcome.

Visited this small pub in town when on holiday to the Lake District - we booked it beforehand based on all the good reviews. It is a very small traditional old pub in the town centre (Ulverston). The staff are all very polite and helpful and the service was excellent and fast. Very clean toilet facilities. But the food was very average and a bit disappointing for us having gone all the way there so not somewhere we would go back to. I had ordered the “Creamy Cajun Chicken” for my main as it sounded like Mexican cuisine but it turned out to be like tasteless Indian curry with rice and i do not even like Indian food. It was awful and very disappointing. Absolutely no flavour. It ruined my evening all together. My starter was crispy beef which was just pure salt. Nobody liked their food on our table (we all had starters and mains and dessert) - both starters and mains all average and lacked flavour. Desserts nothing special. Definitely not for us.

We came in after looking on trip advisor. The steak and ale pie was amazing with big chunks of meat. Fish and chips were great and could tell it was really fresh

Friendly and welcoming with nice areas for family dining. Food excellent with large portions including Panko chicken burger and Gammon. Well worth a visit to pub built in 1500's. Mains tend to be £16-18 pp.

We strongly caution against the noise pollution emanating from this pub. The night was plagued by loud and tasteless music. Neighbors, how can you possibly endure this?

1 star is too high, this is a pub for the locals, outsiders not welcome, arrogant and aggressive staff asked my dog to move , he's a cocker poo, worst pub experience ever, the bar man with the beard is horrible person, local guy with grey hair kept on looking at us , asked by locals what time is table free, complete jokers , this is your sad life going to this pub every week and having the same table get a life you local carrot crunchers, my dogs are better behaved and have more manners than your locals,

Visited as they have vegan options. However although the vegan nachos were delicious the Cajun vegetable main course was lacking and a bit safe and boring. There was no protein just lots of carbs in the shape of rice chips and flatbread and was basically the Cajun chicken dish without the chicken. Service was excellent as was the atmosphere. Don't think it would be my first choice next time in Ulverston.

Five stars. Very warm and friendly full of character a little gem in the hart of Ulverston with a good selection of beers and ales. We had three different meals all cooked to perfection and very reasonable priced what more can I say we will definitely be returning to Rose and Crown

This Ulverston real ale house has ample hand pumped good real ales on. This pub is also known for selling good quality food. The pub has a old fashioned interior charm to it and its locals and staff are nice pleasant people. I visited this pub on the 4th November 2020, and the pub has got good Covid 19 rules in place. Well worth a visit for good food and beer. Saturday 24th February 2024 We again visited this really good atmospheric real ale pub good staff and local following 4 handpumped ales on and the background music very nice to the ears Will use this pub again

ate here as a family of 4, can not rate it high enough, the service and food is incredible. My son has a milk allergy and it was no issue at all. We will definitely return, one of the best places I have been in a long time.

Lovely dog friendly pub. The staff were pleasant, the pub itself was really attractive, with little rooms, and a real fire. The food was fabulous, cannot recommend the cajun chicken enough. Thoroughly recommend it, if wanting somewhere to eat in Ulverston.

The meal was disgusting the only part of the meal that was ok was the brisket, the rest of the food had been warmed. My advice fine somewhere else to have Sunday dinner.

Thank you for such a warm welcome when we visited your pub on New Year's Eve. We had our 2 dogs with us and we were all made to feel very welcome. Whilst sat in the cosy bar area the manager brought us some complimentary chips and dips which we really enjoyed. We wish all the staff a very Happy New Year and many thanks for a great night.

Perfect food , perfect service but ruined by the table next to us having their dog on furniture and then proceeding to feed it under the table which was disgusting. To be totally fair, they were told 3 times to get it off the furniture but didn’t say anything about the hound being fed which was disgusting. I appreciate this wasn’t the proprietors fault but I feel there should be a no animal policy at the dinner table full stop. I would come here again despite this. Just no disgusting dirty (physically dirty) mutt eating next to me

Booked a meal for boxing day at 14:00. Served by 14:35 but when we finished eating at 15:05, we were told the kitchen was closed so we couldn't eat dessert. We were not informed of this before and at no point were we asked if we wanted dessert. Food was fine but disappointing service on what is supposed t be a special day.

Worst manager I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting , I left fuming he spoke to me and my partner with such the worst manner if I could have him sacked I’d take great pleasure been a few times but after meeting him won’t be returning the arrogant Pratt , he shown us up in front of many customers all he had to say was fully booked instead when we asked if we could just sit it’s like it was to much trouble and they were more interested in multiple guests, maybe he needs the tips

This has been the worst food I have ever been given. Wasn’t checked on if the food was ok and was given raw chicken. Took pics of this and shown it to him with a full plate to then be told it wasn’t raw!

Called in on Monday night, hadn't booked first but they found us a table. We both had steak and ale pie. There was plenty of tasty filling and the meat was beautifully cooked. We both had chunky chips and veg. It was a superb meal, we didn't have to wait long and it tasted fantastic. The portions were huge but we still managed to find room for pud. Well worth a visit if you are ever in Ulverston.

Had Sunday dinner earlier today with the ball and chain ( The Mrs! ) food was excellent, busy environment, staff more than able to cope though, excellent service, Stella and Guinness on draught, winner winner chicken dinner! Well worth a visit.

A fantastic pub. The people behind the bar are friendly and up to chat. There is a wide selection of alcoholic beverages, such as wine and ale. The food is BRILLIANT. The portion sizes are huge and everything in the meals are cooked to perfection. Very pleased. Would recommend

A delightful family outing for Sunday Lunch. Absolutely fantastic food. My roast beef was up there with best ive ever eaten. Friendly and helpful staff too. 👌 We will definitely be visiting again. £55 for 2 Sunday Lunches, 2 Kids fish and chips ( proper fish ) and 4 drinks. So reasonably priced

Fabulous food and one of the best Pino Grigio wines we have had! We visited here on Wednesday 12th July about 3pm and the young girl behind the bar was very efficient, friendly, polite and nothing was too much trouble for her. There is seating outside at the front of the pub, lots of seating in the pub and a lot of seating outside the back of the pub in a fabulous beer garden with open seating and very comfortable under cover seating with heaters. They have thought of everything and all weathers. Really nice atmosphere. We met a lot of really nice people. Food was excellent. Cooked exactly how we asked, hot, tasty and top quality. The service was excellent. The young blond waiter serving was really friendly and efficient. We stayed for about 5 hours as we couldn't resist another bottle of their Pino and we were so comfortable. Could not have been better. We would highly recommend this fantastic pub to anyone and we would say its the best in Ulverston Town!

When we went in we were told there would be a 40 min wait for our mains, this was absolutely fine. Food arrived and it was ok. I had the Cajun chicken baguette which tasted nothing like Cajun but was still lovely. The roast looked amazing. Now to the bad part. After our mains were taken away I went back inside to grab a dessert menu- to which I was spoken to very rudely by a waiter, his exact words were ‘excuse me where are you going? Do you have a table and have you asked if you can have a menu?’ To which I replied ‘I’m getting a menu to look at the dessert menu’. Shortly after what I assume was the manager (as was wearing diff uniform) I asked him if there was a problem with us ordering a dessert as the other staff member made it very clear. To which he replied ‘no of course you can order a dessert, but it will be an hour wait’ I was obviously shocked! An HOUR to make a dessert? I asked why it would take an hour. To which he replied ‘because we have other/newer customers now and there food is now our main priority so your desserts will have to wait’ This is absolutely appalling behaviour. Never in my life have I been in a restaurant and not been able to have a dessert because other customers have come in.
