If I could give Joe a 100* review then I would. My husband fell off his bike not far from Wray Castle and Joe's girlfriend stopped to help, and rang Joe to come and help us. I cannot thank Joe enough, he was with us within minutes and very kindly took us (and our bikes) back to Ambleside. My husband was hurt, but not enough to need an ambulance We didn't have any money and he said he wouldn't have taken any even if we had. This could have been an absolute nightmare but because of Joe's kindness, it just made things easier. What a guy, thank you so so much, I can't tell you how much we appreciated your help.

Great cafe and it’s vegan. Yay. Great coffee and cake. Friendly staff. Lots of good options whether you want sweet or savoury.

Amazing little cafe and so friendly. Gentleman in cafe offered us left over food as cafe was closing which was most welcome due to long drive home tomorrow. Coffee perfect too.

Great coffee. Yep. Banana cake was old. Ginger cake was just pure sweetness. No depth or breadth to it. Disappointed in the cake game. Impressed by their coffee.

We fell into Joey's cafe at Wray castle after a longer, and more challenging, than planned walk up from the ferry. We shared a Coronation chickpea sandwich and a roasted veg baguette - both very tasty. I also had a coffee, which was very much needed! We bought a piece of blueberry polenta cake to share on our walk back to our car - also very tasty. Lots of seating in and around the cafe, some inside, some under cover and some more overlooking the lake. Very pleasant staff. All good, nothing negative to say!

Terrible cafe , over priced and everything in paper cups and cartons . Refused to pay top prices for tea in paper cups ! Surely it's more environmentally friendly to have plates you can wash . Really disappointed as was looking forward to a scone and a cup of tea , as you would imagine would be a standard offering at a NT property . Oh and after charging so much of course you have to put your waste in the bin , the only mugs are the ones visiting this cafe !

Delicious food - I had a 'steak' pastie and dhal followed by some gingerbread and a cup of tea. All wonderful. Really nicely presented in a cute café. Very friendly robin outside mopped up my crumbs. Ignore the negative comments on here. So it doesn't serve meat and dairy (except for teas and coffees)? You'll cope for one meal and may be pleasantly surprised. They also had vegan soft ice cream although that would have been a bit greedy.

This cafe is brilliant!! Such a quirky little place and it was dog friendly too. Loved the selection of foods, cakes and juices! The coffee was also very lovely too!

Visited with our son and 3 young grandchildren. I really liked the ambience (vibe), we had excellent Daal with Naan bread , good carrot cake, coffee and other assorted bits, we sat tucked away inside and it felt as if we could have been in a warm Nepali cafe. A surprisingly pleasant change from the usual National Trust cafe .

We only wanted a coffee and a cake as it was only 11.15 AM but had to queue for 20 minutes behind people ordering hot food and spending ages deciding what they wanted at the last minute Nice stuff but it needs organising a lot better Guess as its volunteer run it depends very much on what the staffing is on the day They need a separate area for those just having coffee etc rather than a meal

Lovely setting to relax and enjoy the views having lunch or just a drink. A few had lunch said was nice. Me personally thought expensive for soup but enjoyed my coffee. Worth it for the views.

Tried the drive thru...waited and waited was nobody home?, Was it closed? Reversed out and entered the shop and waited at the counter and waited and waited....3 or 4 staff just chatting away oblivious to customers. 17:00 pm on Saturday. Outstanding service.

Good location, pleasant staff but expensive for poor quality coffee and stale cake. Was offered a refund on the cake which I declined.
