What a lovely lal spot! Excellent coffee and delicious menu… this is coming from a non-vegan too. Staff were great as was the general vibe. Located right by the lake with a fair few walks, it is an ideal spot to grab a post walk coffee on a trip out! We will be back!!

Called here on the 24th and ordered the following- - leak and potato soup - ok - nachos- not heated through, quality very poor - fig and date slice - this was the driest tasteless bun I have ever had. In general nice place but the quality of the food needs to improve.

Visited this lovely cafe quite a few times now. Never disappoints. Good atmosphere inside yesterday. Tasty cheese and onion pasty, piping hot and a coffee. Good service. We will be back.

Loved the offerings in this cafe. It’s not all vegan but most is. And delicious! The no steak pasty was very tasty. Best hot choc I’ve had in a long time too. Unfortunately everything is served in single use packaging. As an environmentalist myself I’m all for being eco-friendly but the most sustainable cup is the one you don’t use. A ceramic cup can be washed and reused many times. A cup made of plants still has a carbon footprint in its manufacture and disposal so I think this needs a re-think.

Exclusively vegan. Can you imagine what a vegan would say if there was nothing but meat on offer. They would think it outrageous. Well I have to eat strict low carb, so nothing for me here. Won’t be back.

We stopped at Joey’s near Claife viewing station, while we were waiting for the ferry from Ash Landing to Bowness. I had a flat white and my husband had a latte, all made freshly and were very nice and hot. I had a slice of fig, date and oat cake and my husband had a slice of cherry brownie. We both thoroughly enjoyed them and our visit from a little Robin. Very reasonably priced.

We visited Wray castle and pleased to see a sign for cafe we expected it to be a basic coffee place but boy we were wrong. Joeys is a quirky cafe which sells lots of vegan friendly products and not one can of fizzy pop such as coke or tango instead all juices and smoothies. We ordered coffee and tried the tortilla chips with guacamole and cheese and beans and what a nice treat. The dish was £10 but good bit of food and enough to fill two of us sharing, we sat outside under cover with the rain falling eating a hot meal just perfect. Dog treats and you can purchase doggy food and ice cream. Even decent toilets. Would highly recommend.

If I could give Joe a 100* review then I would. My husband fell off his bike not far from Wray Castle and Joe's girlfriend stopped to help, and rang Joe to come and help us. I cannot thank Joe enough, he was with us within minutes and very kindly took us (and our bikes) back to Ambleside. My husband was hurt, but not enough to need an ambulance We didn't have any money and he said he wouldn't have taken any even if we had. This could have been an absolute nightmare but because of Joe's kindness, it just made things easier. What a guy, thank you so so much, I can't tell you how much we appreciated your help.

Amazing little cafe and so friendly. Gentleman in cafe offered us left over food as cafe was closing which was most welcome due to long drive home tomorrow. Coffee perfect too.

Great coffee. Yep. Banana cake was old. Ginger cake was just pure sweetness. No depth or breadth to it. Disappointed in the cake game. Impressed by their coffee.

We fell into Joey's cafe at Wray castle after a longer, and more challenging, than planned walk up from the ferry. We shared a Coronation chickpea sandwich and a roasted veg baguette - both very tasty. I also had a coffee, which was very much needed! We bought a piece of blueberry polenta cake to share on our walk back to our car - also very tasty. Lots of seating in and around the cafe, some inside, some under cover and some more overlooking the lake. Very pleasant staff. All good, nothing negative to say!

Terrible cafe , over priced and everything in paper cups and cartons . Refused to pay top prices for tea in paper cups ! Surely it's more environmentally friendly to have plates you can wash . Really disappointed as was looking forward to a scone and a cup of tea , as you would imagine would be a standard offering at a NT property . Oh and after charging so much of course you have to put your waste in the bin , the only mugs are the ones visiting this cafe !

Delicious food - I had a 'steak' pastie and dhal followed by some gingerbread and a cup of tea. All wonderful. Really nicely presented in a cute café. Very friendly robin outside mopped up my crumbs. Ignore the negative comments on here. So it doesn't serve meat and dairy (except for teas and coffees)? You'll cope for one meal and may be pleasantly surprised. They also had vegan soft ice cream although that would have been a bit greedy.

Visited with our son and 3 young grandchildren. I really liked the ambience (vibe), we had excellent Daal with Naan bread , good carrot cake, coffee and other assorted bits, we sat tucked away inside and it felt as if we could have been in a warm Nepali cafe. A surprisingly pleasant change from the usual National Trust cafe .

We live locally so thought we'd check out the bar refurbishment as the new menu looked promising. Only one person on service, no one could confirm what was in the vegetable soup of the day so not wanting to risk it with my pepper allergy I opted for the chicken cob salad 🥗 basic is the only way to describe it and charging about £12 is unforgivable for a boiled egg, packet chicken and a few sliced tomatoes. Steak pie was awful that my partner ordered and my gluten free friend got two slices of gf bread with cold chicken and a slice of unmelted cheese calling itself a toastie. Will not be back. If you have taste buds avoid this and go to Comida or Bangkok 7 for food that is worth the money and made with love & care. A pint on the balcony in the sun is nice but don't go here for a meal.

Good ale, food a bit hit and miss. Pie was hot, mash and gravy cold. Steak baguette was tough and served cold.

Staying in the village, this was an obvious place to try. Although there are vegetarian options, we negotiated a fully loaded vegetarian pizza. No questions, and they delivered one of the best pizzas outside of Italy. Really. More Pinsa than pizza, for those of you who know. Most excellent. OK, so there was less choice of beer than they would have had normally, but I honestly can't hold that against them. For service, flexibility, and friendliness, Poppi Red is exemplary. Thanks.

We stopped in here for drinks this past weekend. Pub with a great atmosphere, but the beer was average at best. Good service. We did enjoy the visit (just not the beer—-maybe because we are from Prague and have great beer). Seating inside and outside. Cozy place.

The accommodation itself was clean, well-kept, and in a lovely spot, everything you’d want from a cute Lake District pub, right in the centre of town and walkable to all the cute shops, so no complaints there. Unfortunately, the service really let the experience down. The main lady who checked us in was consistently rude and abrupt, and couldn’t even crack a smile which made things feel quite unwelcoming. Everyone in our group experienced the same and commented on it which took away from the natural atmosphere of the pub and a lovely weekend in the lakes
