Booked a table for a Wednesday evening whilst on holiday in the Lakes for us a family of 2 teenagers 2 adults 1 small dog. It was by far the best meals we have had in the week, yes its pricier than others but it's absolutely worth the money, especially the sticky toffee pudding and steak and guineas pie! Loads of parking, really nice pub and cool bathrooms! Highly recommend it.

First off I want to thank Manor House for the hospitality and warm welcome. The kind of customer service that shows they care. So many places really don’t but this place is testament to the fact that it does still exist! Aside from the welcome the charm of the pub and its surrounding is stunning and tranquil, with a lovely lama farm at the end of the lane. Wonderful. Gosh, where do I start with the food… creativity, flavour and impeccable presentation, my starter of torched cured mackerel served with pickled fennel was utterly delicious. Followed by (took me ages to decide as there were so many great things on the menu) pork tenderloin served with black pudding balls, fresh greens and roasted carrots, with a jus that was a beautifully light but packed with flavour. A great selection of drinks to be had too and the team are super accommodating to any request. Can’t rate this place enough, and a little 15-20 min drive off the main road it’s an absolute find. A regulate in the area for work and seeking gray places to eat, the landlady packed me off with a whole bunch of eatery options for my forget trips! That’s after my fortnightly visit here I think! I will be back with friends and solo (working trips) to sample more of the menu across the seasons. Thanks again Manor House , you’ve made my day 🫶🏻

A Beautiful Restaurant in the heart of the Countryside, which is ran by the most caring Staff who can’t do enough for you. The food is absolutely fantastic. I had the Pork loin which was delicious and my partner had the Hake which she equally enjoyed. We would 100% recommend this fantastic restaurant and will be back without a doubt💙

We enjoyed a lovely evening at this beautiful country pub, with amazing food and service. The food was absolutely delicious, we enjoyed pate to start, hake with mussels and creamy mash and pork lion, served with black pudding and broccoli for main courses and share sticky toffee pudding for dessert, which was the perfect finish to a fantastic evening. Thank you Manor House, we can’t wait to visit again soon.

Came here with some friends for the Sunday lunch. The decor was great and the actual meal was fantastic! The only bad thing is one of the waitresses seemed annoyed the whole time, she acted like she couldn’t be bothered being there and us even ordering food was a massive inconvenience to her. When she was taking our plates she dropped a knife (easily done) but instead of picking it up, or leaving it and coming back when she has free hands, she kicked it across the whole restaurant into the kitchen. We were all speechless watching this but it did end up with us laughing a lot! Will be back though, had a great time!

We had booked ahead to get a Camper spot, and the pub was busy all night with every single table taken. The food is truly outstanding, a real hard decision on what to choose. Sunday lunch just before Christmas. Not the world's biggest place but the food is consistently excellent. It's quite a few miles outside Ulverston and people make the effort to travel out, which says a lot. Good service.

We managed to get last minute table on Saturday afternoon , think you always need to book & drive from Ulverston was lovely & arrived to this wonderful place , inside & out . Unfortunately young waitress really didn’t want to be there , with her attitude when serving but showing her feelings when storming out of kitchen & huffing & puffing by the bar which I had full view of ! However food was outstanding , well done chefs . The pheasant & venison pie was amazing with great gravy & with extra gravy pot , mashed potatoes & red cabbage . Wine very reasonably for such a great place but have a word with your staff as just spoilt this occasion . We gave a very good tip to compliment great food & maybe for the staff to realise its worth working there !

This is the third Sunday lunch we have been to at The Manor House. I regret to say today the lunch was below par. Turkey roast consisted of a squirt of mashed potato, two carrots, two parsnips and a side of Brussel sprouts (which not everyone likes) Turkey roll meat and mass produced Turkey stuffing. No peas, no swede and no cauliflower cheese and no roast potatoes. When I questioned it apparently I was supposed to have roast potatoes but they ‘forgot’ to put them on. There were no other greens apart from the sprouts. The pudding menu was also disappointing. Seems to have dropped in quality overall. Very disappointing - I hesitated about saying anything because I don’t usually but it was so poor I had to. Thankfully they were understanding and took the meal off the bill. I would rather be writing a rave review. We did go for Sunday Lunch in November and it was very different - I’m just wondering whether they have a new chef or an abundance of Brussel Sprouts to use up. Very very disappointing. We have friends to stay next weekend and we will be going elsewhere. We will not be coming back.

This was our second visit to the Manor House for an evening meal and we enjoyed the experience just as before.The restaurant was very tastefully decorated for Christmas and the staff were efficient and welcoming.My partner chose the fish and chips and I chose the traditional Turkey dinner.All our food choices were delicious and delivered piping hot,the waitress staff were very polite and attentive.We had a lovely evening thanks to the ManorHouse .

We'd wanted to visit the Manor House for ages, we had high expectations!! Our experience totally lived up to these expectations and more. The food on the Friday night was delicious and service from the staff perfect. We had only planned to stay one night in out campervan, but found our ourselves back in Oxen Park the following day due to heavy snow making roads impassable. We were where stranded. Adam, Ashley and the other staff did their best to help us and others in our predicament!! What a lovely village and pub to be stranded at. We enjoyed eating and drinking in the pub again before leaving the following day. Thank you Manor House team!! We'll definitely be back, but maybe in the summer!!

Situated in the middle of nowhere, this beautiful building dominates the local village. Cosy pub with calm and professional staff make you feel welcome and strike that fine balance in being attentive without the US style over doing it. Menu has a lovely balance of traditional pub classics blended with unique dishes including Guinea fowl and venison etc. - I opted for the trad Fish n Chips - perfectly cooked crisp, thin, batter with flakey fish, spot on chips all piping hot on a hot plate with mushy peas - Laurent Perrier fizz and at very reasonable price and even a perfect stirred Old Fashioned to finish - Top Marks - will be back !

Very enjoyable experience….. which starts as you drive towards the building. The outside area is clean, warm & welcoming, the entrance is beautifully lit, warm & inviting…. It looks like a farmhouse kitchen…. That’s what made us stop & try this pub…… we didn’t have a booking.. fortunately they had a table in the bar area….. right by the fire👍🏻😁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Service was welcoming, efficient & friendly without being intrusive. We ordered our food & it arrive promptly, I had Guinnie fowl nicely cooked, interesting presentation & great combination of textures & flavours, my wife had Hake, again beautifully cooked dish…. Obviously they have a chef who cares & can cook… especially fish … it was perfect. In truth the portion size was generous, but that didn’t stop the dish from being polished off. It is very refreshing to eat in restaurant, in Cumbria that isn’t Michelin Stared (or trying to be one) that is serving real, well constructed, creative food …. That is Great Value for Money & you don’t need a second mortgage! The menu offers all the old favourites Signiture dish from the chef creativity & talent. An absolute pleasure to visit the Manor House for a third time today. We joined Leighann, her family and friends for the remembrance service at Cartmel Priory and came to the pub for a coffee and Sunday lunch afterwards. The food, drinks and service was faultless. The pub provides such a warm, relaxing and calming environment. The roast dinner was superb as always followed by a delicious sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert. We will definitely be returning again in the future. Thank you for a pleasurable visit.

Stopped here in motorhome (which you can prebook and stay in one of 6 spaces they have in the back of the carpark for diners) and had a lovely evening meal. Special blackcurrant gin and tonic then lovely pollock special. My husband had wood pigeon for starter and then a double burger. Don’t know how we had room but pudding was amazing, chocolate fondant with orange sorbet, so make sure you leave room! The staff were really friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend.

We enjoyed an excellent early evening meal on a rainy November evening. Staff most accommodating. Fish and chips, cauliflower, hake and potato main courses all fresh and home made - lovely. Five stars!

Amazing food, the food tastes so fresh and so well made. We had the soup, sharing plater starter, fish and Chips and rib eye steak. The quality of the ingredients really shows. The service is very prompt and very friendly. The place has a really sweet traditional feel to it and it’s very cosy and clean.

Great pub, excellent food, good local beers. I had vegetarian curry with a lovely home made bhaji. My wife had a double cheese burger. Both were excellent. Staff were super friendly, atmosphere great. One of our favourite pubs in Cumbria. Highly recommended.

We have a holiday home in the Lakes and try and visit The Manor house for Sunday lunch each time we are up. We are never disappointed. I don't know anywhere else that serves 5 different veg with the Sunday roast and asks whether you like your beef rare or well done. I ordered roast no meat as I am vegetarian and they kindly reduced the price (not everywhere does this). Ashley is an amazing host. Very warm and welcoming. The Best Sunday lunch we have had in a pub by far !

Amazing place took my 15m old and brought a family dog the staff were extremely friendly and accompanying, there's also a really lovely baby changing facility and the food exceeded our expectations will definitely be returning lovely place run by lovely people 😊

We visited for a Sunday roast one evening , as we were staying down the road. It was literally a 30 second walk . Very delicious food, would recommend if you are staying nearby. Staff friendly, atmosphere warm and cosy, with plenty to choose from on the menu. You can pay £3 extra for all of the meats which was great and plenty on the plate! Would definitely visit again if in the area for a cosy pub meal

Exceptional dining experience! I had the pleasure of trying all three of their specials – starter, main, and dessert. The flavors were flawless and incredibly delicious.
