Quirky little coffee shop/bar. Atmosphere is very chilled and relaxed from the moment you walk in, a great space to just sit and vibe for half an hour or so.

I absolutely adore this place. Have just curled up there for a full morning with my laptop, frequently taking little breaks to look around me … so much love has gone into creating it, and it really shows. It’s a really warm, welcoming space, with fun little details scattered all around the place and an excellent menu. I’ll definitely be going back.

A nice quirky independent coffee shop in Kendal. We ordered a black Americano coffee and an English breakfast tea. Drinks were brought to our table and were very good. Nice clean, coffee shop with friendly staff Would definitely stop again

I have visited About Time many times but today was special. Bobbi who owns and runs the show was working her best at the takeaway side of things and wow the coffee was amazing. I had a flat white and it was the best I have had in Kendal. The hygiene social distancing and queuing system all work perfectly and it is useful to have contactless payment right there in front of you. Keep up the good work it’s five stars from me.

Best coffee in kendal. Friendly, inviting and warm atmosphere. If you want fast served, haphazard coffee, go else where. If you want a proper decent coffee, served the correct temperature, measurement and by those that know what they are doing... this is the spot for you! Banners not half bad either 😉

This place is known for its coffee, but what many possibly DONT know, is this is amazing for the hot chocolate lovers in this word, especially the dark chocolate. I was rather thrilled to see an extensive hot chocolate menu, with strength and country of origin. From an Ivory Coast white, to a South African 100% dark , with a Venezuelan 58%, an Ecuadoran 70% and a Madagascar 82% in between. We sampled three of the strongest (loverly and creamy, never felt the bitterness, great for vegans) with a handy bottle of water and glasses on each table to wash it down. Naturally we were smiling all day. The decor is cool and eccentric with bicycles, Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe on the wall. It also boasts the tiniest toilet in Kendal!! Certainly not the place to be missed, and the staff very friendly, if not laid back. Will be indulging again.

Called in for coffee and hot chocolate today. Not been in for sometime and won’t be back. Service was poor. When our drinks eventually came, the coffee was tepid and the chocolate was cold. Looking to the bar area the”barista “” was holding a baby and there was that much talking with the ladies behind the bar , people were queuing to get out. The barista then proceeded to take the baby out side and talk with the mother, leaving a bigger queue. Sorry but standards have slipped .

By far the best coffee in Kendal. I call each week when I’m in town and always a warm welcome and friendly chat. Treated myself to a delicious spicy muffin today too. Thanks guys you’ve got it spot on - see you next week 😁

Lovely coffee and hot chocolate, excellent service

Went for afternoon coffee. Been there loads of times in the past and enjoyed it. Today, no cakes at all and two coffees Luke warm. Took them back and was told they only heat the milk to 63 degrees?... Got another two they were slightly warmer. The premises were cold and not comfortable to sit.... Sorry to say.

Such a beautiful venue, just sit and look around this is a gorgeous place to be. We came as part of the stout wars event. Delicious beers and I’m dying to come back for an espresso martini. The place smells delicious.

Gorgeously decorated bar with great people and a lovely atmosphere. Dog friendly even at night! Margaritas are very nice. Can't believe I didn't know about this place until a few weeks ago.

Once we got the coffee it was great, however, not sure the staff know what's going on. The place was quiet and our order took ten minutes to be taken then a further ten minutes to arrive. Staff training needed, will have to give it a miss next time.

Popped in for a cuppa en route to the Lakes. Staff are wonderful, place is nice. Coffee is good. Apricot frangipane is mentioned in other reviews for good reason......because it is very good 😊. Really enjoyed visiting and would definitely recommend

The sign outside said best flat white in town and it was certainly fab. As was the apricot frangipane tart the waitress said is her fave when we asked for recommendations, backed up by a local on the next table. The tart was very tasty and we both would have again. Quirky cosy decor. Games on shelves and trivial pursuit cards on the table meant we had a little general knowledge quiz session over our coffee and cake. Went as a couple and our 2 springer spaniels who were made very welcome with fuss and treats!

Spotted the sign which said the best flat white in Kendal so had to go !!! It lived up to its name. Staff were friendly and the muffins were to die for. Unfortunately I don't live it Kendal but if I did I would be back daily.

As someone who no longer lives in Kendal all the time I especially look forward to my summer visits so that I can come to About Time! This coffee bar has the most delicious coffee and nowhere else I have ever been has as nice coffee as this place. I often like to sit down and do work on my laptop and the staff are all incredibly friendly and welcoming. Overall it has a very unique and quirky feel to it, perfect for all ages and different kinds of people! I will continue to visit whenever I can!

Absolutely the best little cafe in Kendal. Great coffee, the tastiest cakes, super-friendly service and staff, and the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing drink. A few games dotted about tells you everything you need to know about the experience they want you to have - they want you to stay and they want you to enjoy it. The staff and owner are always very welcoming, love the place.

The bohemian atmosphere of this cafe is appealing and refreshing compared to soulless Costa Cafe and Cafe Nero's. However, we, a gay couple, have been there on half a dozen occasions, and have never felt particularly warmly welcome there. Bobbie, who runs the place, seems to make extra fuss of certain regulars, yet is never friendly or welcoming to us. A couple of the other staff there are really nice, but on our last visit we had this particularly condescending and unpleasant female server. My partner's shortbread was inedible, my cheese scone was dry, stale and awful, we requested the two hot chocolates to be extra hot, both came barely lukewarm, and the aforementioned server, long wavy hair with an annoying faux posh accent, was not interested. My partner did get refunded for his shortbread. Some independent cafes have food freshly baked, obviously not here. Also, we visit with our small dog, and not once, even while weather hot, has a bowl of water been offered, so many other places manage to do this. It's a shame that we felt so let down, we always support independent businesses, and try to be very amiable and friendly wherever we go, but unfortunately we won't be returning to this cafe.

Walked by about time so many times and keot saying "we need to go there", finally got the chance and it didnt disapoint. We only stopped for a couple drinks but they were lovely, the staff were really kind and sweet, the atmosphere and aesthetic inside and ourside was really nice

When I visit Kendal I always try to get here for a cup of coffee. Lovely people who are always really friendly. I was a trained barista, so it's very hard to find a coffee place to meet my expectations - About Time beat my expectations hands down.

The extension made at About Time has taken the place to the next level; a go to destination for any lover of speciality coffee visiting the Lake District and Cumbria. Bobbi looks after all visitors to her espresso bar like they are old friends, and with the expansion now has two brilliant staff in Emma and Zoe who feel like they've been part of the team forever!

Very friendly! Staff were delightful, we took the dogs with us and sat outside of the cafe and one of the staff bought out some water and biscuits for the dogs how nice, dogs loved it! Really great coffee and interesting decor plus a decent choice of cakes with some vegan options. Unfortunately due to health reasons I can now only drink decaffeinated coffee and the coffee I drank here is probably the best decaf I've ever had.

The decor is really nice and the place has a really good atmosphere, the staff were really friendly. We had 2 capacinnos and a carrot cake to share, the coffee was great and the carrot cake delicious. I got ok the WiFi and did some work as well, password is DELOREAN.

By far the best coffee I've had in Kendal. It's obvious in the quality of the drinks that this is someone who is seriously in to coffee themselves. Absolutely delighted this espresso bar is in Kendal.

I was literally in Kendal for less than an hour before I sniffed out this little independent coffee shop. Despite them being closed due to a refit, I got chatting to the owners and they very kindly made me a coffee anyway! Thanks so much, my day isn't quite the same without a superb cappuccino! It really was fantastic. I hope to visit again to have a coffee inside your quirky cafe.

Bobbi (the owner) is doing her very best to adhere to Covid restrictions against all odds in her quirky small coffee shop. She has had to revert back to take away only for the mean time to protect herself. Her coffee is the best in town, with dairy free milk options and fabulous vegan and gluten free cake choices which even those without food tolerances will enjoy as they are so good from a local Baldy Baker!

This gorgeous little espresso bar serves the best flat white in Kendal. It could even be the best flat white in Cumbria.... Run by the lovely Bobbi, it is a fabulous oasis in the centre of town. The coffee is all locally roasted using, I think, around four different roasters all of whom are within a few miles! There is a welcoming feel to the place, increasingly so as it has built up a growing number of devoted customers. The decor is quirky and fascinating and it is a comfortable spot to enjoy your drink. Nice hot chocolates are also available if coffee is not your thing.About Time is always my first recommendation to anyone visiting the town and looking for coffee. There are some sweet treats on offer too. If you are in the centre of Kendal and need a break, go to About Time. In these strange times it is also a safe place, wear your mask, sanitise your hands on the way in, enjoy the coffee!

Despite the lockdowns and difficult times, this gem has remained open and adapted to the challenges. A credit to Bobbi, the take away coffees are as superb as ever, no compromise on the excellent quality or superb service. More than highly recommended.
