A very friendly ‘old fashioned local’ one of those warming Sunday lunchtime get together pubs, where everyone knows each other, yet strangers are welcome. My son has just moved to the neighbourhood so he introduced us to it, great village, nice people, it’s a shame the Guinness ran out 🤣

I decided today that I want something more exciting for lunch apart from my bland chicken sandwich and 2 apples. I came out of the office and walked across the bus way and saw a colleague of mine standing at the bus stop having some fresh air. He asked where I was going, so I told him that I was looking to go somewhere for a sandwich for lunch. He suggested Co-op or Iceland, but then he said that I should go into Monk's delicatessen. He said he had some great sandwiches from there and their ingredients were very fresh and the manager frequently gave him the end of the ham, saying that it would be too stringy to put through the slicer. I decided to go to Monk's on his recommendation. The staff were very warm znd welcoming and were very attentive when I mentioned my dairy intolerance. They ran me down the ingredients they used to fill the sandwiches and there were many meats, cheeses and extensive salad ingredients too. The staff told me what had milk products in and what didn't. I chose brown bread, 3 types salami, roast ham and all of the salad. I also selected an Oasis summer fruits bottle. It all came to £6.20. My colleague said that the costs would be comparable with Co-op or Iceland sandwiches. I thought on average the price was slightly more expensive. However, the price of the sandwich was only £5 and matched the freshness of ingredients and was very filling. The saltiness of the ham and the spiciness of the chorizo complimented each other with the freshness of the salad ingredients which cut through the smokiness of the meat. It was incredible value compared to the packaged sandwiches of the other local shops. The sandwich was 'fit' and 'to die for' as I described it back to my colleagues in the office. From the first bite to the last, the freshness of ingredients and the smokiness and spiciness of the meats were delightful and certainly did more than fill the void in my stomach that normally my bland chicken sandwich did. Incredibly friendly and attentive staff and beautiful hand made fresh sandwiches which I definitely would return if I needed a tasty sandwich for lunch. Thank you very much and keep on making!

So we hired the outside under cover decking area for a surprise party yesterday. We had a buffet and added the chicken curry. Food was great and very plentiful. Staff were lovely and responsive. We had music playing through the speakers to add for the atmosphere. It was a cold night and it is outdoors but the blankets and heaters helped! Thanks for a great night

Great cafe and great staff. Nice coffee and food, but expensive. Went up again in April. Queues always mega. Some of the obvious profits need to be reinvested into another coffee machine and another till to reduce waiting times. As many others have said lots of barking dogs and the 3 barks and you’re out rule is never enforced. Shame as we frequented the cafe regularly but not so much nowadays.

I ordered the mixed grill and the food was awful, I asked for my steak for medium rear, it came as medium to well done and it was so pale I thought it had been boiled, so they took my steak and got me a new one only to be cooked just like the first one, the only thing on the plate that was OK was the chips and egg, all the meat on my plate was tasteless, I'm sure all the meats are frozen, and defrosted in the microwave. We would never go again it was the worst place we have ever eaten at

Slightly belated review, of this experience which turned out to be a pleasant last minute find for some food and drink when passing by. We are quite a large family and were well looked after by Caren B who was lovely and made sure to keep the small people entertained with puzzle and colouring sheets whilst we ordered food. We had a variety of food including various appetisers (Goujons, fondue, garlic breads) And mains (turkey roast, fillet steak, kids pastas, rump steaks) Finishing with deserts (ice cream mix, profiteroles) All cooked perfectly, well presented, arriving together and piping hot. Some of the adults were lucky to wash down with beer, others had carbonated drinks. No complaints at all, thought the pricing was reasonable and being seated in a booth made the evening even more enjoyable. I’d recommend a visit if you’re passing, the place was clean and not over crowded with plenty of parking and good facilities.

Stopped here for a coffee while my partner was having a 20-minute eye test, twenty five minutes later my partner arrived back but my coffee hadn't, my partner went in and explained this only to be told they have had a lot of orders in,no apology. If you have busy times then get more staff in to cover those times and stop making excuses for poor service. Half an hour is way too long for one "okay" cup of coffee.

Got a bacon and egg on toast. Bacon weren't great, egg still snotty. Staff were friendly enough but had better food at cheaper prices.
