This is a little friendly local pub. No food has been served here since 2019. And non looks likely in near future. He does however have free sandwiches quite regularly.

We booked the Royal Oak for our dads wake. We asked if we could have a hot and cold buffet and were told this was no problem. All I can say is that it was EXCELLENT even to the point an extra vegan plate was made up for us on the spot, and food, oh there was plenty and delishious. Dad certainly got the send off he deserved, I can't thank everyone involved enough. SUPERB. Thank you!!

Ive never thought of the oak as an eating place but we were recommended there today. Good portion size, reasonably priced, very pleasant staff who couldnt do enough for you. There was a slight problem with condements but that was very quickly rectified and never spoilt the experiance. Its the 1st time ive been in the oak and i would give it ago just for a drink too

I'd heard good things about the Sunday Roast so popped in to watch the football and try it for myself. Not the best I've had but it was very good. The visit was worth it for the Yorkshire Pudding alone though! Proper homemade Yorkie, crispy on top and stodgy at the bottom, perfection. Even though it was nice mashed potato, I must say a traditional roast should only include roasted potatoes. The 3 roasted ones looked crispy but weren't really... The beef wasn't great quality but was cooked well nonetheless and for the price (just under £7) the plate of food provided was really substantial. The local drinkers and staff were all friendly too.

I was in a rush after being in this place that i left a box of cigars and a cigar cutter on my table. Went back to see if anyone had handed these in over the bar. They had been stolen by someone in the pub. What kind of people does this pub allow in its doors. I wont be back in this pub anytime soon. What kind of person goes looking for something to steal at his local pub. Very disappointed with this place. Watch your handbags ladies they will be next.

£6.49 for a decent Sunday roast, can't complain. Gravy was decent and the mash is an absolute belter, the only slight problem was receiving sweetcorn instead of cauliflower cheese but it's hardly a deal breaker, especially when you're paying less than a tenner for a decent meal and a pint of real ale.

This pub has recently undergone a facelift. The finish is crisp and clean and kept well by the new management team of Sharron and Terry. The toilets are totally refurbished and clean . There is a beer garden should you wish to sit out in the sun. They now do food on the premises . This is a simple menu but is good food and well presented . Sunday lunch is excellent value for money. There are a lot of locals use this establishment and most people seem to know one another. However it is not a click and everyone who visits is welcomed . There are three pubs in the local area and this one for me is the best . I now visit and eat and drink regulary with my wife and family.

Decided to try the the Royal Oak after it has been refurbished, and found it to be potentially an excellent local pub. The landlord was pleasant, the beer was excellent, and the new refurbishment is first class, complete with a wood burning stove. I'm told that the food is also good, although I've not tried it. The only downside was that the bar seats were occupied by a number of individuals who were vaping at the bar, most of the time I was there. Spoilt the ambience a bit.

After being closed for a while this pub reopened about six months ago. It was run down. There was no Real Ales and the place was always empty. Under the new Management of Kevin and Debbie it is now a busy traditional boozer. It doesn't do food. It is a plain and simple boozer with great characters from the village. Kevin and Debbie reintroduced Real Ale (Cask) and within weeks they were increasing their weekly order and now take several casks a week from the Coach House Brewery in nearby Warrington. The pub has two large televisions, has darts and its own team. There is a beer garden to the rear which is quite large and lovely during this summer weather. But the best part is there is always at least two different cask ales on sale which change each week. A third cask pump is to be added and the local branch of CAMRA (Halton) are to hold their next branch meeting at the pub. Watch this venue storm in to the Good Beer Guide !!!

I decided today that I want something more exciting for lunch apart from my bland chicken sandwich and 2 apples. I came out of the office and walked across the bus way and saw a colleague of mine standing at the bus stop having some fresh air. He asked where I was going, so I told him that I was looking to go somewhere for a sandwich for lunch. He suggested Co-op or Iceland, but then he said that I should go into Monk's delicatessen. He said he had some great sandwiches from there and their ingredients were very fresh and the manager frequently gave him the end of the ham, saying that it would be too stringy to put through the slicer. I decided to go to Monk's on his recommendation. The staff were very warm znd welcoming and were very attentive when I mentioned my dairy intolerance. They ran me down the ingredients they used to fill the sandwiches and there were many meats, cheeses and extensive salad ingredients too. The staff told me what had milk products in and what didn't. I chose brown bread, 3 types salami, roast ham and all of the salad. I also selected an Oasis summer fruits bottle. It all came to £6.20. My colleague said that the costs would be comparable with Co-op or Iceland sandwiches. I thought on average the price was slightly more expensive. However, the price of the sandwich was only £5 and matched the freshness of ingredients and was very filling. The saltiness of the ham and the spiciness of the chorizo complimented each other with the freshness of the salad ingredients which cut through the smokiness of the meat. It was incredible value compared to the packaged sandwiches of the other local shops. The sandwich was 'fit' and 'to die for' as I described it back to my colleagues in the office. From the first bite to the last, the freshness of ingredients and the smokiness and spiciness of the meats were delightful and certainly did more than fill the void in my stomach that normally my bland chicken sandwich did. Incredibly friendly and attentive staff and beautiful hand made fresh sandwiches which I definitely would return if I needed a tasty sandwich for lunch. Thank you very much and keep on making!

I ordered lamb shawarma plate and it was the worst food I had eaten .. meat was dry and it was OVERFLOWING with chips salad and meat !! I had to order hot sauce on top which had no taste ! My friend ordered mousaka and he got mince and aubergine mush with RICE!! Definitely not going back!!
