In between meetings and hungry so pooped in to buy something for lunch. The young man behind the counter was most helpful and did me a hot foccacia club, chips and salad to go. Soft luscious bread, plenty of chicken, mayo and salad with tasty crispy chips......absolutely gorgeous! At £11 it was well worth every mouthful.

We visited for the first time this morning. We went for brunch and discovered that The Bake House has a remarkably varied brunch menu. We both chose from their "loaded sourdough" range. My wife had a "veggie" version and I had the "Mexican" version with added chorizo. These were substantial, to the extent that I commented to our server that when they say "loaded" they really mean it. Both were well presented and delightfully tasty. I couldn't finish mine. The service was charming and the place has a wonderfully warm, friendly atmosphere. We'll be back.

We booked a table for 10am with the knowledge that we would need to vacate by 11:15. Our food arrived to the table at 10:55, 45 minutes after ordering. We were approached at 11:10 to say we would possibly need to vacate our table as the next people had arrived, this person was polite about it and understood when we said that wasn't our fault. If our food had arrived on time we would have left on time. Unfortunately the attitude of another member (wearing a purple hoodie) was really poor. Huffing and puffing and blaming us to other customers and staff despite them getting the food out late. The moment the last person on our table had finished their meal and let go of the cutlery she was there to clear the table without a smile or asking how our meal was and still huffing and puffing. I thought she might 'blow the Bake House down' such was her rage at this point. Really poor attitude. The food was great. Shame.

I called in to The Bakehouse today at about 1.45pm , so not in the lunchtime rush . I was given a menu and seated at a table . I sat there for almost 15 minutes and had to ask a young waitress whether I needed to order at the counter. She finally came to me for my coffee order , to which i also added a glass of water. 10mins later the coffee arrived ( a good coffee) but the whole time waited was ridiculous. I added a round of white toast , another 10 minutes wait ... just your average off the supermarket shelf bread , for which I was charged a huge £1.60 ! Not impressed at all. They are really un organised , i say this as a person who is used to working as a waitress..... and as I said this was not a busy time. This time waiting issue has happened to me now 3 times and I will not be returning . FAR too long waiting . Oh and I am still waiting for my glass of water 🙄🤨

The staff were helpful and friendly, and made us very welcome.but I wasn't impressed with the cake I had. My friends enjoyed their cake, but I would have preferred a plain chocolate brownie not one stuffed with a kit Kat which was very dry. Best place for breakfast in Runcorn in my opinion! I always order the American breakfast and a chai latte which is delicious , the prices are reasonable. Always fantastic and one of the best places to eat in Runcorn. They have a wide variety of breakfasts with loads of healthy options. A great kids menu which avoids the usual nuggets and fish fingers cliche - this full English and pancake stacks. The lunch menu has big hearty bowls like Caesar salad and Bibimbap which is packed with delicious pickled vegetables, rice, egg and spicy Korean sauce. There's a good selection of drinks including the usual coffees and teas, and also beers and cocktails. They are open every day and some evenings and do regular theme night with specialist cocktails and meal deals. Overall an amazing cafe and a hidden gem.

We went for breakfast yesterday which was no better than your standard greasy spoon. We were sat upstairs in a room where the tables were on top of each other and the lights didn't work. The staff were playing music very loud so the could hear it downstairs and my shoes were sticking to the floor. For a large full English breakfast it cost well over £12 and that was without a cuppa. I don't mind paying slightly over the odds if the food and environment warrants it. This place was just a rip off for what it is. You will be better of in a basic cafe where the floors actually see a mop.

I'd seen this place advertised on Facebook and while I was off work and the weather was glorious we decided to try it out. We parked around the corner from Runcorn Hill as the road outside the restaurant was closed due to a crumbling wall. Despite being advised of a 45 minute wait for food we took an ice cold pint of shandy in the garden at the rear. However due to the hot weather the friendly staff found us a table indoors. Unfortunately they had sold out of the salmon for the Eggs Benedict so I chose to have mine with bacon. The other half chose a Turkish flatbread. Sure enough the food arrived as promised due to regular updates from the staff. Mine was very well presented, hot and delicious with poached eggs that were still runny (the way I like them), crispy bacon and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar and seeds which added a nice crunch. The other half"s Turkish flatbread came with two lamb koftas that were delicious and fragrant with spices, large flatbread, a full salad including onion, lettuce, diced tomatoes, pomegranate seeds and a yoghurt and mint dressing. In hindsight we probably could have just ordered the flatbread between us it was that large! We were that full there was no room for dessert which looked amazing and is all made on site. They also offer cocktails and a tapas menu on a Friday and Saturday night and a roast dinner on Sundays. We will certainly be returning to sample these delights but we will be booking in advance 2nd visit 21/04/2023 - Afternoon tea Returned back to The Bake House after our excellent experience last time. This time we opted for the afternoon tea menu. (The table was booked in advance and a £10 deposit was taken per head in case of a no show) The sandwiches were brought on a board with a selection of crisps and side salad. We had chicken and bacon, ham and chutney, egg mayo and cheese and tomato. There was also warm sausage rolls. Tea and coffee were included but the speciality teas such as the matcha latte were extra. And then for the desserts. Presented excellently in a "half bird cage" we had Victoria sponge, chocolate brownies, carrot cake, fresh strawberries, Mars Bar slices, scones with clotted cream and jam and finally edible chocolate plant pots filled with cream and chocolate biscuit "soil" 😊 All in all an excellent experience and we will definitely be returning

Visited on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch with a party of 5 people. Arrived at 12:15pm and meals only arrived at 1:10pm - nobody mentioned about a delay when ordering. When the food did arrive only half of the meals turned up until 15 minutes later when the other meals arrived, by which time the first half had already finished. Also, the poached eggs were rock hard (see picture). Ordered a cup of tea with the meal, and was left waiting 20 minutes. The jugs of gravy on the Yorkshire burger were cold. It’s not the cheapest place and I would expect a better level of service or communication when you’re spending in excess of £100. Always loved The Bake House, we’re even collecting an Elf Box whilst we’re here, however we’ve all agreed to not return.

The food itself was very nice, however our table of four waited for around 45 minutes for the first 2 meals to arrive. It then took asking two different staff members for the cutlery to come. Finally the last 2 meals arrived around 15 minutes after the first 2 came, by which time the first 2 had nearly finished. I appreciate anywhere can have busy days but you should be told when you walk in if there will be a long wait. However, the main reason for leaving a negative review, which I usually wouldn’t, is that when one of our party mentioned it to the front of house staff on our way out, they didn’t seem bothered in the slightest.

I ordered lamb shawarma plate and it was the worst food I had eaten .. meat was dry and it was OVERFLOWING with chips salad and meat !! I had to order hot sauce on top which had no taste ! My friend ordered mousaka and he got mince and aubergine mush with RICE!! Definitely not going back!!

I decided today that I want something more exciting for lunch apart from my bland chicken sandwich and 2 apples. I came out of the office and walked across the bus way and saw a colleague of mine standing at the bus stop having some fresh air. He asked where I was going, so I told him that I was looking to go somewhere for a sandwich for lunch. He suggested Co-op or Iceland, but then he said that I should go into Monk's delicatessen. He said he had some great sandwiches from there and their ingredients were very fresh and the manager frequently gave him the end of the ham, saying that it would be too stringy to put through the slicer. I decided to go to Monk's on his recommendation. The staff were very warm znd welcoming and were very attentive when I mentioned my dairy intolerance. They ran me down the ingredients they used to fill the sandwiches and there were many meats, cheeses and extensive salad ingredients too. The staff told me what had milk products in and what didn't. I chose brown bread, 3 types salami, roast ham and all of the salad. I also selected an Oasis summer fruits bottle. It all came to £6.20. My colleague said that the costs would be comparable with Co-op or Iceland sandwiches. I thought on average the price was slightly more expensive. However, the price of the sandwich was only £5 and matched the freshness of ingredients and was very filling. The saltiness of the ham and the spiciness of the chorizo complimented each other with the freshness of the salad ingredients which cut through the smokiness of the meat. It was incredible value compared to the packaged sandwiches of the other local shops. The sandwich was 'fit' and 'to die for' as I described it back to my colleagues in the office. From the first bite to the last, the freshness of ingredients and the smokiness and spiciness of the meats were delightful and certainly did more than fill the void in my stomach that normally my bland chicken sandwich did. Incredibly friendly and attentive staff and beautiful hand made fresh sandwiches which I definitely would return if I needed a tasty sandwich for lunch. Thank you very much and keep on making!
