Very warm and friendly service, and the pastry basket was delicious, but the pancakes were bland. Try the peach iced tea! That was a highlight of our visit.

Pretty good overall! Staff is really attentive and works hard. We had a simple breakfast, but it hit the spot. We definitely want to go back and hit up their pancakes, they looked amazing.

Located in the midst of the thriving Bishy Road inde shop scene. The staff are fantastic here and work so hard to cater for the masses who turn up. A great place to start your day.

What can I say? Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, incredible food with an exciting menu and huge portions and a reasonable price.Felt safe ordering GF food as staff very knowledgeable about cross contamination and there is a dedicated gluten free fryer and a separate gluten free menu. We ended up eating there three times during our stay in York and we will DEFINITELY be back!

Amazing food, lovely staff and an all round wonderful experience!

We went on a Sunday morning and arrived just after opening. There was already a queue forming but as we were happy to sit outside, we were seated straight away. We both ordered the pancakes which were delicious. The tea was loose leaf (perfect!) and they even preheated the tea cup prior to serving. We will absolutely be back another day to try out the rest of the menu!

Have been multiple times and the food is always incredible. Genuinely the tastiest pancakes I’ve ever eaten, and the portion sizes are great. Staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Be prepared to queue though because they are very popular…and for good reason! Looking forward to our next visit!

Had the croque madame with a side of fries - insanely good and worth the price. 10/10!!

Delicious food but I had a bad experience with some of the staff. Starting with waiting in the que where more than 4 groups who came after us went before us although some of them were with same party size. In addition, we were served with food against out dietary requirement. I felt racisom for the first time in the UK. Luckly, a different member of staff stepped in, took our dishes and replaced them free of charge and apologized for what happened.

If you’re ever in York you simply have to check out Robinsons. From epic dishes to tasty morsels, frothy coffee to tea for two, nothing is too much trouble. I can honestly say you won’t find a more helpful and friendly guy that Will. He’s even helped me change my tyre when I had an unexpected flat recently. He’s a top guy and the bistro deserves its success. Please support them and enjoy their fabulous hospitality.

Delicious food and amazing staff

Great food, loverly relaxed peaceful atmosphere. Polite staff. Highly recommend a visit. However get there for opening as we saw ques forming from about 8.45 and people having to wait. It is definitely worth waiting for in my opinion and reasonably priced given the quality of food and service

A really cute spot! The pancakes were perfect and not too rich and sweet which meant I could eat all of it! The egg on the avo toast was perfectly cooked and there was an abundance of sun-dried tomatoes.

I would love it if the environment was less overwhelming by how crowded the cafe was. However, crowds come for all the right reasons. Great food and coffee, brilliant atmosphere and kind staff.

Worth queuing for. This is probably the top breakfast spot in York amongst my friends. The hash browns and pancakes were amazing. Really pretty little cafe with lovely details and colours. Very trendy and Instagramable. Will be back.

It’s actually not fair to all the other brunch spots in York how good this food is 😵‍💫🤤 We had a bacon and black pudding hash bowl on the specials board, Turkish eggs, truffle mushrooms, and a big old stack of the caramel banana pancakes. UNREAL. Pretty sure you could blindly order anything from this menu and be blown away by it! The pancakes in particular are heavenly. Kudos to the cheffing team for cultivating and executing such a delicious menu and topped off with very friendly and helpful staff and it’s just an around delightful experience! It’s walk ins only so be ready to queue a little but well worth the wait… also yes we did buy some of their merch because they won us over with the grub 😂

We've been back again today 1st Feb 25!! 5 of us with a booth style table, excellent meal and the staff are so attentive & friendly... See my original review below 👇🏼 Tried for the first time, and found this place is a new favourite, the queue outside waiting to go in speaks volumes. This was well worth the short wait of approx 15 mins to be seated. Situated in a lovely location, just a short walk to the town centre, convenient carpark nearby. The staff were all so friendly, bubbly and serving with a smile, very attentive. There is lots of choice on the menu, but all 3 of us were taken in by the pancake stack. My daughter ordered the pancakes Berry Compote, Maple Syrup & Creme Fraiche pancakes 'Full Stack' which consists of 3 pancakes, layered with creme Fraiche, maple syrup and lots of delicious fruity berry Compote. My husband and I ordered the Streaky Bacon, Maple Salted Butter and Maple Syrup pancakes, these were so tasty, the salted butter was devine. We also ordered a bowl of hash brown clusters as a share. All washed down with Americano coffee. Well what can I say, this place is the bee's knees. I highly recommend. The servers were fantastic. Well done 👍🏼✅

Portions are generous, service friendly and food delicious. People were queuing out the door at Friday lunch time so we came back later in the day and managed to get a seat at the bar. We watched the kitchen at work while we ate and it’s clear they take a lot of pride in their food.

The food was excellent as always. They even accommodated our dog by having a water bowl, and the bacon we asked for him came in a plastic dish. The only criticism we have is they don't allow dogs inside , so we had to sit outside in the freezing cold wind with a blanket provided by them over our legs. So we can not really comment on the atmosphere as we were outside freezing

In a city full of cafes & brunch spots, Robinsons definitely stands out with the beautiful food, excellent coffee, friendly staff and overall great atmosphere. I find myself coming back every chance I get - it just really is THAT good of a place.

Very very good food. It’s worthy queuing for it, even in the rain and the Storm Darragh. I like their homemade Hash Brown, it’s special and delicious. The bread is amazing too. The staff is so nice and friendly. I will say it’s the best restaurant/cafe in York for breakfast and brunch. Sorry, I don’t think they offer Full English breakfast.

The food is incredible, the portion sizes are great and the quality is very good. Really good value for money, and even when it’s busy it’s a calming place to be.

Probably one of my favourite lunch places in York. Food is always tasty and portions are just right. Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. It’s a shame they don’t do bookings as it’s always full.

Incredible brunch with delicious coffee, nice busy atmosphere too and the service was excellent. Highly recommend! It can get very busy on weekends though so be prepared to wait for a table. We went on a Monday morning and were seated almost immediately.

A very traditional café in the region, always busy and with a queue, but it moves quickly. The atmosphere is very cozy and the service is wonderful, as is the food. Everything was delicious and very well made, well worth the visit

It was a busy Sunday but the team tried their best to accommodate the customers. It was a bit slow though; we waited for around 20 minutes to get a table. Food prep was actually very fast. Tried the turkish eggs, very tasty and the chai latte was good. highly recommend it for brunch.

Fantastic - well worth the short wait. The menu here was great and each and every dish was so tasty - portions are huge too! The halloumi fries and mini hash browns were seriously good. The service here was also amazing, some of the friendliest and speediest we had on our trip to York. Will be revisiting Robinsons if ever back in York!

We visited it on Sunday for the first time. There was a queue outside and we waited about 20-30 min to be seated but it was really worth to wait. The atmosphere is very welcoming and cosy. Service was fantastic in every way- they were very well organised, quick and attentive. Coffees were very good and we got 2 mimosas only for £12 on top. There are many options to choose from the menu even for a very picky eater. Dishes were packed with flavours and portions were generous. Honestly, this one goes to my top 5 breakfast/brunch spots straight away!

Loved visiting here, very dog friendly we sat outside as the weather was dry (they also have an awning in case of rain) Food was fantastic we returned the next morning to try something different! Staff are great very attentive and friendly Service was great!! So glad we found this place 💖💖

Visited for the first time on a Saturday lunchtime. We were a table of 5, so we were prepared to wait! Luckily we got in very quickly and didn't have to wait long. The menu looked good, and we all enjoyed our food. But, I was disappointed that there were limited options for lactose free food. Despite pancakes being a big offering, these can't be made without dairy. Likewise, many specials and menu options included cheeses, and eating them without wouldn't be the same flavour wise. Despite this, I did have a tasty meal after essentially ordering blind when my first two options couldn't be made dairy free. Overall, I would still recommend eating here as the food was tasty. But, if you have dietary requirements I would be wary, as the menu will be very reduced!

Definitely an amazing brunch place! The staff is incredibly friendly and the food is top notch! We’ve been lucky and didn’t wait too much in the queue but at certain times the queue can get quite long. If you are in a rush it won’t necessarily be the best place to consider. Would also recommend to go around 10-11am to get the full experience! Closer to 12 they might run out of certain ingredients and they would also not serve certain dishes. Lovely place, amazing food and hard working & dedicated staff! Would definitely return.

If you’re visiting York, this is an excellent place for breakfast or brunch. It’s a bit further out but highly recommend it. The food is great, and the staff is really kind. So no wonder it’s very busy - giving this place a really great vibe! Make sure to go early and expect a queue. I got lucky as I was alone so got a seat within 5 mins, but even for a party of 2 it could take 10-20 mins. I tried the Mexican eggs which tasted very similar to Shakahuka, and paired very well with the crunchy corn bread.

Food is great and really excellent service. Staff can't do enough to help. Stood outside waiting this afternoon and it started to rain- staff member brought an umbrella out for us. Food is quick to arrive and really nice.

Perfect place for a family brunch on a one day stopover enroute from London to Scotland. Best hashbrowns ever!! The rest of the food was not bad either (pastries were a bit soggy), service fairly prompt and the music not too obtrusive.

Brilliant place to grab breakfast while visiting York. Food was top-tier and the staff extremely friendly. Great atmosphere and location. I challenge you to find a better freshly-squeezed orange juice anywhere in York.Just had the best breakfast experience! The food was incredible, some of the tastiest I've had in a while. And the staff were so welcoming and friendly, really made me feel comfortable. The fresh orange juice was the perfect touch, so refreshing! Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great breakfast spot!

Enjoyed a lovely brunch on a day out in York. Waited around 10 minutes for a table inside. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had the black pudding hash and the Mexican eggs and both were delicious. Would also recommend the hash brown and halloumi sides. One of the best place for brunch we have visited recently would definitely recommend.

As always tasty. One of the best cafes that serves breakfast in York. Fresh-made food. I love this place. There are some days when is raining ☔️ I love to sit next to the window, playing beautiful music, relaxing 😌. Always busy service and not long waiting time, as a teacher of culinary skills and chef I have a big pleasure to have breakfast at “Robinsons”. It was hard to find a place which I could like because I worked for more than 15 years in hospitality services. But “Robinsons” “made my stomach” to be in love.

There was a bit of a wait, which I put down to the fact that we were a larger group. It started raining, and the waitress offered us umbrellas, which we found very thoughtful. As soon as we were seated menus were brought over, orders were taken, and it wasn't long before we were eating. The waitresses were very attentive and catered to us and the baby we had with us ( they have high chairs for the little ones). Food portions were larger than we had anticipated, so our eyes were bigger than our stomach 😆. 10/10 and it was definitely worth the drive from Sheffield.

As we were staying in a house just around the corner from here we decided to come for breakfast. Boy, what a good decision! We had to wait 10 mins for a table as there were 7 of us but it was worth it. The food is absolutely delicious, with an interesting menu and everything is homemade. All the staff were attentive, kind and friendly, and the service was very quick. I can't think of one thing to fault and we enjoyed it so much we went back the following morning so we could all try something different from the menu. Don't hesitate, eat there!

Lovely Cafe with great servers but let down by the food today. The pancakes while they looked great were not good and had not been made freshly (they were dry and the bottom of each pancake cut for reheating). What should have been maple butter was normal butter. Bit disappointed due to other high ratings.

Had a lovely breakfast and staff very efficient

My sister and I came here for a lunch about a month ago and I'm so glad that we did. We ordered smashed avo toast and a small stack of pancakes. Both dishes were so yummy. Plus we both ordered tea. The staff here were kind enough to seat us and take our order even though the kitchen was closing in 30 minutes. I recommend this place and look forward to coming back here.

Great breakfast and halloumi fries

A great place with great staff and delicious food. Despite a little queue, we were greeted almost immediately, and we were given an umbrella for the sun. Later, waitresses were really nice and attentive. We were happy with breakfast options, and food and serving turned out to be amazing. Highly recommend this place if you visit York.

Finally got around to trying this coffee shop (been a York resident for years and then it got popular so was abit put off by queues!). I must say it was worth the wait - despite the busyness food still came relatively prompt and the staff were friendly and attentive - the drinks and coffee was a lovely blend and done well and the food was delectable. The pancakes were fluffy and filling. The caramel ones offering toppings on each layers - a much needed thought that just being on the top to ensure there’s enough toppings while the bacon ones came with a pot of extra maple syrup to cater to one’s preferences. The Turkish eggs were also flavoursome and done well. 5/5 would recommend

First visit and although the wait was slightly off putting the staff were lovely and so was the food We thought we might be rushed because of the queue but that wasn't the case at all we will definitely return

Finally try this popular spot as we didn’t want to wait long in the queue. The food is absolutely stunning and we loved it so much. But what’s even better is their service despite it being so busy. My dad lightly commented on the coffee being a bit weak, they immediately taken it out of the bill. We really appreciate the gesture.

Best food out I’ve had in ages - fair prices, amazing food, great service! We shared the bread a jam, a side of poached eggs, hash browns, and the banana pancake stack - it was like having brunch tapas! Amazing 🙌

We had a fantastic brunch at this cafe! The highlight for me was the truffle mushroom toast—it was absolutely amazing. The portions were very generous; we ordered three dishes for two adults and two children, and it was more than enough, we even took some home with us. The matcha on oat milk was nice, and all the food was incredibly tasty. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommend this place

Food was great and the staff amazingly friendly. Had to sit outside as we had a dog. Bought us blankets as there was a chill in the air. Liked the fact that the coffee was hot and it arrived promptly at the same time as the food.

Stopped and had lunch. The food was brilliant, drinks were proper tea (not tea bags) in posh pots. Staff helpful and friendly.

An exceptional brunch place. Really good food and drinks but especially fantastic staff. I spent an hour sitting at the bar watching how everyone handled a very busy Sunday morning and it was a picture of calm. What must be very challenging appears effortless, and all with a smile.
