One of our favourite places in town.

A hidden gem, especially when it's hosting the Giggle Shack comedy night. Runcorn is very lucky to have both.

Food is best in Runcorn - fresh proper cooking. Very flavourful. The soft tacos are amazing, loaded fries and burgers all better than most big city places. Chips are some of best I've had anywhere. Staff are super friendly and food is cooked quick whilst still being top quality. Great atmosphere for drinking and cocktails always nice, good variety of drinks, great atmosphere. Always doing takeout food at the weekend as a treat and food value compared to others in Runcorn

It’s really hard to support these guys when they are rude without good reason and not for the 1st time. Food wasn’t great at all but you do you .However, bar staff fab easy going and wish I could give more stars. I would love to give better feed back overall but can’t.

The food is really nice and I would recommend it to my friends. The comedy night is on there and I always try and go when I can do. It's a good venue for the comedy show and to go for a few drinks every now and then. Especially like the chicken wings Chinese flavour. Only thing I would say please can you get blue wkd and maybe mojito cocktail. Also bring strawberry cider back because it was so nice .

I will preface this review by saying OMG the food! It was epic. Great selection of beers in a place you really wouldn’t expect. Will definitely be going again. Also, who can say no to Star Wars decorations?

Food is really nice and also the drinks. Wish they would put strawberry daiquiri on the menu it’s my favourite. Nice atmosphere will go back. Also they accept well behaved dogs.

Great staff and great beers very clean and tidy

We've recently moved to the Runcorn area from South Liverpool. Visited Society after a meal at an Italian spot (another good review) and were delighted. The place had a great vibe going into it, getting even better when greeted at the small bar area by lovely staff members. The clients were varied (younger locals through to older) and the decor was great. We thought it could get a bit crammed when things get busier but found that there is a large external area and additional seating inside also! Drink selection was good, food looked amazing (we'll be back to try that for sure). In our opinion, this is the place to go in Runcorn for people that are looking for an alterntive to the local 'Spoons or Green King.

This is a gem of a place and totally unique in Runcorn, great beers, great food and great staff…..the food is fantastic and very reasonably priced and the beers are just great , I’ve never had a bad time here.

Went with family last night. Really welcoming environment, good range of drinks and the food was fantastic - everything was good but the fries in particular were superb. Prices very reasonable and staff were so friendly! Thanks for a wonderful evening.

I think I've found my one and only hangout in Runcorn. Give the food a try. The bao buns, loaded fries and chicken wings are to die for. Plus, mango IPA here is a definite favourite.

We came up from Suffolk to visit friends in Runcorn, went to Society for an evening out. I can say hand on heart, staff and management made us feel very welcome, added with a great atmosphere and good beer made for an excellent evening. Massive thanks for making us welcome, we will definitely visiting our favourite bar, and recommend anyone to visit you.

Lovely atmosphere, and very friendly staff, food delicious.

This place is really worth driving 5 miles to visit as we do (Covid rules allowing) several times a week. The staff are lovely including the owner and his wife. It is mainly locals who use it as it is not in a shopping area and you need to know where it is. It is under a railway arch that takes the railway over the River Mersey as well. It must be the only railway viaduct that has not just a bar but a church under it! Well worth a visit.

Great litte bar in my hometown runcorn good during these troubled covid times appointment booking for tables until may with restrictions being lifed but good astmospere food is nice and great local prices are reasonable but little high no complaints if you like to socialze lots of local people under a archway of fun this place is good vibe

Foot was really good, beers where good, staff are terrible! Spent 4 hours in the place and they staff chucked us out for singing Christmas songs. Asian women literally pushed me out the door.

Unbelievable service, excellent quality. Ordered takeaway food, not for the first time, and it was excellent as always. Alex and the team should be proud of what they do, food is always delicious, the Beef Bomb burger is amazing. Can't wait til you can re-open as we will definitely be in!

Best bar in Runcorn. Great selection of beers, cocktails and spirits, food that is to die for and very friendly staff. I have been going to Society now for three years and there has never been a night which I haven’t had a good time. It’s the type of place that you can go to where you can have a drink and a good night, whether you go there with friends or by yourself. Even though things have changed recently because of COVID, Society has put things in place to make sure that both the staff and customers are safe. This is by far my favourite place to go to.

Best burger in Runcorn by lightyears. Fresh pressed patties, fit brioche buns and divine chilli. The best cocktails for miles, great friendly staff, clientèle and vibes.

This place is fantastic every time we visit here the food the beer and most of all the atmosphere is first class. You will go in glum, sad etc and leave happy...Guaranteed

Great intimate pub with fantastic welcome staff

So back again after a few months enforced absence to due to the lockdown, however I did still manage to get my regular society fix from the wonderful takeaway food and beer they served, and is carrying on even now the bar is back open.

We came here as a foursome and everyone enjoyed their food, chicken and chorizo burritos, Mexican chipotle loaded fries, pulled pork burrito, Swiss burger and beef chilli loaded fries went down a storm and the drinks on offer are something else, by far and away the best place in Runcorn...........

Ordered from Society for take away this evening. Food was brill, my son wanted hot wings, and they were proper hot. Also had 2 burgers - v. good and a vege burrito to die for. Really well organised and felt really safe. Will be back. Thank you!

Very good food but I wish the the containers were more eco friendly. There are definitely better options available than polystyrene trays that can not even be recycled.

In this Lockdown we order a takeaway meal on Friday of Jamaican Jerk Wings & Fries, Cajun Gumbo, Chicken, Smoked Sausage, Fried Prawns with Rice and some Black Penny Stout the food and drink was excellent. The Society as a big menu of food and drink all at reasonable prices. Looking forward to coming back after the lockdown for a drink with friends

Just finished the takeaway chilli cheese bratwurst and fries and my wife had the southern fried chicken burrito. The food was absolutely fantastic and cooked to perfection. It was also very prompt and cheap! I was given a time slot and it was ready to go and piping hot at that time. I also ordered some Freedom ale last week which was also great.

I stumbled across the website via the Camra site. I didn't know it excisted and I'm absolutely gutted I've been missing out for over 18 months. Even more gutting is the current lock down and social distancing so it's not open as normal. However they are doing take away food and beers, and deliver beers in Runcorn and Widnes. This is everything I have ever wanted in my home town, a great menu and home brewed beers. I collected a takeaway today, the food was spot on and reasonably priced. The chips and loaded chips are amazing. The gold digger golden ale is a lovely drop. I will definetly be ordering more and can't wait to visit properly.

We'll it seems I can't get enough of society / STR, it's certainly become my no 1 bar runcorn where else in Runcorn can you drink beer brewed in the same building and find yourself chatting to the brewer, great bar, great beer, great people.

Amazing little bar, with great beer, food, staff and customers. It's hard to believe this place is actually in Runcorn, it would fit in many city centres yet it's here tucked away under the railway arches which creates a lovely dry outside seating area.

First time visiting this place and I won’t be going again, bar maid was rude & snotty. Huffing and puffing serving us, told us to move seats twice! Because she didn’t like where we were sat, also told my mate to move his packet of crisps, doing my nut in tbh. Felt like karate chopping her in the slice.

Seriously, have you not been to the best food and drink place in runcorn yet? Many local beers (some brewed on site), cocktails and many other drinks, plus street style food with many different tastes and flavours, and staff and clientelle that make it a briliiantbpalce to go. This is is not your average pub, it's were real pubs want to be. Good food, drink and company, with no idiots tolerated.

A hidden gem this. Proper social bar, with a great selection of locally brewed beers & ales. Very easy to mix right in with punters next too you. Reasonably priced. I haven't tried the cuisine there. But the men's toilets, the picture speaks a thousand words. 😂

The team behind this unassuming almost hidden gem are onto a winner. The food is street food style, its served simple and its divine. There are cocktails and a massive range of ales and an outside area. It's constantly evolving and it's unique and it feels like a home from home. Don't walk past the unassuming doors, walk in to experience the society tap rooms.

This is a truly unique well crafted and loved establishment, it's patrons and owners have made this a labour of love. The range of beers and food and snacks are huge, the cocktails are well priced. There is work to add a bar in the garden which will just add more stars that are not available. It's got a fantastic atmosphere and if you didn't know it was there you would walk past and that would be a crime this is a true gem you've got to try it!

Great choice of good beers each time I've been there.

I came here for what was my second visit on Friday 26th for the Halloween party they were doing, partially because I was Halloween event work was doing and partly because one of my friends was DJ’ing there. Much like my first visit I had a great night, the drinks were very reasonably priced with a wide variety to choose from, that along with the music made a very enjoyable time and I have made two more visits after this night I am currently reviewing, I will of course right reviews for those nights to. Would I recommend paying a visit to this bar? Without a doubt. The bar staff are all very friendly and with so many different drinks to choose from it sufficiently caters for everyone tastes.

So glad we stumbled accross this place, brings cocktails and a micro brewery to runcorn - indie chic.. I lived here for two years before this opened so so pleased... it's hard to find but worth it - under the bridge come see happy lady

recently found this place real ale and good place to chill friendly and not to crowded ale was good and decor interesting hope u find it ;)

I went here on Friday 5th of October with two friends from work after one of said friends had recommended giving this bar a try. So I decided to give it a go and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I was not disappointed. The bar itself is quite quirky and has a sort of loveable charm to it. The craft beers which are in fact brewed at the bar were very good from the one’s I tried and there was a good selection of them to choose from. For the patrons who aren’t into craft beers there is a selection of larger stores choose from, along with a decent number of spirits and a nicely sized cocktail list. I very much enjoyed my first visit and before I had even finished my first pint knew I it would not be my only visit. As I write this review I have already made plans to go for a second visit this coming Friday when they are holding a Halloween night. Would I recommend going to this bar? Yes I most definitely would. The prices are good, the drinks are very nice and plenty to try, the bar itself has a great atmosphere. I have no doubt that my second visit on Friday night will be just as good and become one of many nights I will spend there.

Excellent home brewed beer including lager. Very nice place to be. Cracking little place away from the old town riff raff. Highly recommended to all.

This place brews it’s own beers and also offer street food. Very friendly place with friendly staff at the back of Blue Ball Brewery and it’s a shame it only opens on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Just be careful with the beers because they are pretty strong.

Fantastic selection of well priced craft beers, regularly changed with a number brewed on the premises. Food excellent and authentic thai food available. A hidden jewel in Runcorn - fast gaining popularity with its cool vibe.

Superb collection of beers (craft & real ale) including those brewed on the premises. Perfect street food to accompany your ale and for those who remain on the dark side they have a wide range of cocktails and spirits....all in the heart of Runcorn Old Town - who'd of thought.

This is the best bar in runcorn.. such a lovely welcome from all who work there and the food is 10 out 10 and the best real ale out there! Please all go see yourselfs u will NOT be disappointed
