Came for lunch with the family, the food was great and a good selection to pick from. Service was brilliant and fast, will be returning

A quaint little pub with a downstairs and upstairs. Unfortunately if you go upstairs to drink, you need to go downstairs to buy your drink. The owner is waiting to be licensed to sell alcohol upstairs, so hopefully it won't be long. There is a good area at the rear of the property for drinking outside, which is great for good weather. The owner is very friendly and there is a good choice of drinks, that are sold at reasonable prices.

Just had a gorgeous Sunday lunch. Massive portions £14 or £16 for lamb which was on today so I'm guessing that's not available every week. They do a pensioners meal (age 65 +)for £12 which looked more than enough. Proper home cooked food the lamb was really nice. Only negative was that we had no room for dessert! Staff very friendly & attentive too. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely little war time themed cafe. Fantastic atmosphere and great staff. Food is delicious, everything freshly made. Would highly recommend, especially for history buffs. Second time this week for us. I’d suggest you get there early as they sell out fast on most items.

Lovely little pub. My favourite pub on the green. Nice craft ales and the owners are down to earth and approachable.

Afternoon tea. Worst ever.....upon entering the building the smell of dampness hits you..{yes it is an old building} Sat in a filthy old conservatory where extra dampness was served for free! The portions served were terrible £15.00 for 2 doorstop wedges of cake,2 scones,6 small sandwiches plus tea. Waiting time was horrendous and one member received his meal after 2 attempts to inform the staff we were still waiting. £9.00 for 2 slices of bread with prawn mayonnaise and a sprinkling of crisps and salad, ordered chips on the side which arrived after sandwich was eaten.. Do your self a favour and pay a bit extra and go to Wynyard hall..

Been here for breakfast a few times now, always I warm welcome and great food at a great price. In terms of overall experience, quality and value for money this is defiantly one on the best breakfasts in the area. Opens bright and early too. If you plan ahead you can even get your car valeted whilst you’re there. It won’t be long before we visit again.
