Sir Thomas Brown in Stockton-on-Tees

Just had a gorgeous Sunday lunch. Massive portions £14 or £16 for lamb which was on today so I'm guessing that's not available every week. They do a pensioners meal (age 65 +)for £12 which looked more than enough. Proper home cooked food the lamb was really nice. Only negative was that we had no room for dessert! Staff very friendly & attentive too. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely gorgeous food, more restaurant quality than a pub there were 20 of us and the service was first class, there was so much to choose from, the lamb melts in your mouth, the parmos, fish, salt &pepper chicken and tandoori chicken were all delicious we all tasted each others . The Bicoffi cheesecake is to die for ! We Will definitely be back, Best meal I've had.

Absolutely amazing Sunday Lunch, very friendly staff the food section appears to be separate from the bar but all staff very friendly. The Sunday lunch menu is reasonable, we had a starter and Sunday lunch but next time I think just a Sunday lunch or a smaller portion for us as such a generous portion size, unfortunately we could not finish it ... but the BEST SUNDAY LUNCH i have had in years! Also fantastic value for money, will definitely be visiting again and trying mid week fantastic 👍

Great choice of meals. Literally could not finish the meal it was delicious and good portions. Staff were friendly and really made us welcome. Shout out to Emily and Meg who were really great and couldnt have given better service. Will be back.

What a great set up outside, lovely marquis, great atmosphere, tv to watch sport. Food still top draw started with chips and god they were amazing, indian burger was lush, very unusual taste from every where. My wife had the usual parmo best in the area good crac great people and service quick.

Missed this place so much, first place i thought of after lockdown. Parmos are amazing, quick service was quite busy, everything in place to keep customers safe. Friendly atmosphere and good views for the sport.

Visited last week for a meal with family and friends.It's been a while since I visited the pub and I must say what a pleasant surprise I got.The food was wholesome and at a great price too. Service good and probably above what you would expect for an estate pub... all in all Well Done to all, keep it up!Only downside was that it is cash only for food (not bar drinks)We will be back

Had a meal with the family in Thomas Brown this week. We had 4 different meals and all were cooked and served perfectly. Great value for money .Also good selection of beers and nice pleasant service from the bar staff. Highly recommended.Thank you

The beer that is. We called for drinks only and all was fine except for a few football fans who decided to be quite loud. I was also very surprised to see a customer slyly puffing on his e-cigarette whilst eating. A very nice barlady was so friendly. She needs to be commended.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal with 10 friends. Everyone was highly complimentary about the excellent meals, service of such friendly & efficient staff & good value. We'd all built up an appetite after long cycle ride. We'll definitely be back. Many Thanks Sir Thomas Brown!!

Lovely food, parmo is the best, melts in your mouth. Great portions, really filling, strugle to clear plate. Low cost total value for money. Quick, friendly place great for family and children. Great to watch sport. Love it.

Went today on a wim, as we entered we where greeted with a warm welcome by the waiting staff, and shown to a table, we ordered the Sunday dinner, which came really fast, it was hot and very fresh

Love the food here, dont normally have fish and chips in pubs and restaurant but these tasted as good as the chippy. Good atmosphere plenty of tvs for sport. Love it.

Walk in the door of a typical British pub. Ordered 3 meals, Fish & Chips, Gammon and a Chicken dish from the specials list. The food was soooooo good! The staff friendly. The ambiance relaxed and easy. Will defiantly go back 😄

Came here for Sunday lunch while visiting from Ireland. One word sums up the food. WOW.

Had another great meal today! Brought some friends who were visiting from Ireland and Cambridge. They said it was the best roast dinner they have ever had in England!Two of my friends were vegetarians and Mark catered for them too with no problems. Staff were great and a special mention to Jack who was an excellent waiter, very attentive and great at his job

Another top notch meal from Sir Thomas Brown, can not get past the parmo. Tried the spicy one which was lush loads of flavours melting in your mouth. Home made chips and love the garlic. Friendly atmosphere. Great choice of drinks.

Love this place, friendly pub very spacious plenty seats, televisions for the footy. Food is unreal, large portions, i was starving when i went and strugled to finnish. Top quality parmo home made chips with salad and garlic sauce to die for. Plenty free car parking.

I was feeling pretty hungover one Sunday a couple weeks ago and couldn’t face leaving the house to eat out so decided on ordering from here. The Mrs was happy to go and pick it up although the y do offer to deliver to your house which was only £2 extra to yarm.

Lovely food , massive portions and kids loved it too . Just called in on the off chance and will be back this week for Sunday lunch .

This is our favourite place for food, great atmosphere. The staff are friendly and cant do enough for you. Was very busy and food came quickly and was fantastic value for money. Food stays hot for so long while eating it. The burger was so chunky and you need to have an apetite to finnish your plate. Counting down the days for our next visit.

I always want to try something different but can not as the parmo is the best I have had. I came with my wife and daughter and friends with there children and we all enjoyed it. The service is great, served really quickly and pleasant atmosphere. Good place to watch the football and have a catch up. Most of us had the lush parmos and the children had deserts sundays which were great value for money. Loads of car parking friendly staff and mark is an excellent chef.

I live local to the Sir Thomas Brown and have had both parmos and takeaway Sunday dinners. The parmos are always perfectly cooked and tasty, a proper homage to Teesside. The sunday dinners are also very very good. Would highly recommend.

Since the new Landladies have taken over this pub has gone from a ghost pub to a thriving business with it's customers it's prime concern. The beer is well kept, the service friendly and professional and the food is excellent.

we had 2 evenings there saturday night simon carter a swing singer 3 meals and drinks 68 quid everyone was so friendly dancing went back sunday night karoke which i hate but its an ongoing competition the locals truly know how to sing it was great we arrived after food had stopped 4pm they said get a takeaway and bring it in so we did its so rare to find a community pub where new faces are welcome thankyou for 2 amazing nights real people down to earth

Took my tribe of 8 in for my Birthday meal on Sunday. The food and service levels were exceptional. Nothing to much trouble. We all enjoyed our meals including my 3 year old grand daughter. Highly recommended, give this place a try, you will not be disappointed.

Called into to local pub for a glass of Pinot - informed by bar staff can only buy Pinot by the bottle - “ no just want a glass while waiting for takeout “ not good enough Sir Thomas Brown - why when the fridge is full of bottles of Pinots just offer customers a glass !!!!!!!!

Just had the most amazing Sunday lunch!! Everything was perfect - the gravy was devine, mash really creamy, veg cooked to perfection and the meats and yorkshire pudding were the best we’ve tasted in a very long time!! Chef Mark is fantastic along with all the team.

The food here and the chef are fantastic. Had the chicken parmo and it was cooked to perfection.

This great pub is now managed by people who are passionate about the area, and bringing life back into this hub of the community.

The food is great and so is the service, nothing is too much trouble, will definitley be back soon..

I came here for my birthday and always enjoy the food. Parmo is lush and chips and salad amazing. Lovely garlic dip and friendly staff. Great place to watch football with tellys all over. Nice walk into the high street. Fab day out.

I have just been to the Thomas Brown with friends and we all found the food at the highest quality. I had the pan fried chicken with peppercorn sauce and I asked could the chef make the sauce with a bit of a kick in it. It was delicious. Thanks again. We will be back.

After a few ups & downs over recent years (mainly downs) the present imcumbents have everything just right. The food offering is is good 'Pub grub' - but don't let that description put you off. Friends opinions - Steak pie 5* : Parmo 5* ; I decided to have an old 'school dinners' favourite - Minced beef & dumpling. The veg., mince, & potato mash were really good - But the dumpling; if it were any lighter then chef would have had to nail it to the plate, to keep it there. SUPERB. Mention must be made about the very good service at the bar; but THE star was the young waitress (with the ponytail), pleasant helpful, efficient, & serving 24+ covers in the short time we were there without any apparent effort - 6*. I heartily recommend this place for a visit to a pub that's also popular with the locals.

Fabulous food at a very reasonable price. The children’s parmo was gorgeous and a fab size. The mince and dumpling was perfect and the Chicken Jalfrezi (curry of the day) was probably the best I’ve tasted.

After living within close proximity of the pub for the last 15 years, I decided to take my family for a casual meal during the Easter holidays. Little did I realise how good the food would be...fantastic quality, freshly cooked food and genuinely unbelievable value.

Excellent!! Great food ,great value. Well cooked meat, fresh veggies & lovely Yorkshire puddings plus very good service . You can have a great lunch for under £7. Give it a go, you will not be disappointed.

Got invited to sir Thomas Browns for a birthday bash with family and friends. I had the Mexican chilli burger which went down a treat with a few bottles of Desperado. Most of the gang had a Parmo and it looked impressive and the whole night was a great success including a live band called Last Anthem who were really good.

We used to use the Thomas Brown a lot and were disappointed when they stopped doing food. We were happy to hear that they have started doing food again with a new chef so we decided to try Sunday lunch today.

Fantastic portion sizes for the price of the meal, PARMO is a must if you visit here! The Sunday lunches are also very tasty, I would highly recommend visiting here for the normal menu and Sunday lunch!

The yarmo parmo is now in eaglescliffe, I have been looking forward to this for ages. Lovely taste, great place for families to enjoy lunch. Nice pint great for car parking. Exceptional choice of menu and staff really friendly on. Mark the chef is fantastic.

Yesterday we had lunch there the staff were lovely and friendly. The food is all home made and delicious when I asked about proper chips the the chef said he would do them for us and they were delicious too. We will definitely go back whenever we are in the area. Well worth a visit.

Visited while in the area, lots of after workers in early doors , asked for menu informed no food till Wednesday, new landlord taking over , very open plan so believe you eat with the locals ??

Really enjoyed my dinner tonight, the food was a superb standard we all had the fillet steak which was done in a sous vide and therefore absolutely beautifully cooked. Well done to the staff who were as usual very attentive on a very busy night. I have been here often for dinner and have never had a bad meal yet.

A spur of the moment meal and a great decision, staff were friendly, meal did not arrive quickly but when it came you could see why. It was beautiful, the steak was perfect and the steak pudding stuffed full of meat, veg was just right. Drinks brought to your table which was nice and staff were friendly. To top it off went to pay the bill and was a nice surprise to find it was BOGOFF £20 for two meals and 3 drinks. GET YOUSELVES IN BY THE END OF NOVEMBEF TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS OFFER. But will go again even without this offer .

Visited this evening with family for a meal and I must say was very impressed with the quality of the food and the staff. All our dishes were cooked very well and were very tasty. The staff were very personable and had a laugh, especially with having "friends" on the menu, which I was still waiting for as we left.

This is our local, love coming here for Sunday lunch, food is always great, veg cooked nicely, not soggy. Great value at £12 for 3 courses. The pub is always clean with friendly staff.

Brought family here from out of town and they loved it. The food is always great and the drinks are good quality and reasonably priced.

We have been regulars at this establishment since it reopened.All I can put is that the food must be the best in the area.We have eaten there over 80 times in the past year every meal has been superb mixed with brilliant staff great atmosphere and good prices,worth anyones money.

Last minute decision to eat locally and what a good decision it was. We hadn't visited since the change of ownership and we were impressed with the improvements.

Food was average, but nothing better than that. Service however was truely awful! Service was painfully slow and our waiter was unapologetic regarding the wait or the fact that our orders were not served correctly. Will not be going back.

Called in last night before we picked up a a Chinese Takeaway Called in a couple of months ago and didn't feel right somehow.

Went here last night with a friend for the first time and was presently surprised. The food was lovely and was a two for one deal even better. Staff were excellent. Definitely go again. Fabulous!!

me and my partner came here this evening on the 19 July. As it was 30 degrees outside we thought it would be really busy we couldn't be more wrong, it was DEAD. (we should of took the hint). well we ordered drinks and got our order took we ordered the burger and parmo. not hard meals to cook with an empty pub as we were the only ones who were eating. half anour went by and this other couple who came in after us ordered food and had it so we shrugged it off. a family of 4 came in so we decided to ask how long our food will be. she said she would go and check but then this snotty women came out the kitchen and said its all ready but she took food to the table of 4. 1 hour later our food came my parmo wasn't very nice it was like deconstructed HORRIBLE which made me feel sick after eating a little bit so i left it. my boyfriends burger was burnt and full of grease was vile the burger and bread bun was dripping with grease so he obviously sent it back. The snotty women came to take my plate away with hardly any eaten and said why didn't you like your burger very harshly where is the customer service for people who are paying. maybe she needs a job to sit in a office where she deals with no people. will not ever return worst meal EVER!!! avoid at all costs.

Had a 3 course Sunday lunch ,the starter ,Main & Desert were all very well presented,and tasted delicious,very pleasant staff.

Went here tonight with family, 3 adults and 1 child. The two main meals for £10 offer was on for July.

A nice comfortable clean public house, friendly staff. Certainly good value for money with the 2 meals for the price of one offer!

A decent meal and pleasant staff. Loyalty card for drinks. Buy one get one free on meals which is good although I believe this is for June only. I would have like more on the dessert menu but nothing to complain about.

Had lunch here today with 2 friends. We all chose from the £7 for 2 courses menu. We all ordered ham hock salad with black pudding to start. It was very tasty and the serving was quite large. For the main course we ordered chicken with green beans and mashed potato, piri piri salmon with rice and garlic mushroom, which should have been served with pasta, but my friend requested no pasta. Her serving of garlic mushrooms came in a medium stock pot and apparently was very good.

Staff were attentive and helpful. Food was amazing potato skins and parmo! Garlic sauce was gorgeous! Will be returning on more occasions!

Thought we would give food a try as only 10 mins walk away and heard good reports. Not disappointed. Parmo was excellent. Service great .young staff but obviously well trained. Nice choice of real ales. Will be back. What a difference a refurbishment and New owners make. For a pub menu varied choice could have tried 4 or 5 other meals.well reccomended .

First visit since new ownership, and obviously very successful. Visited on a Saturday evening. Very pleasant staff, but far too few, completely overworked. Ate at 8.30 after arriving 7.15. Three of four meals absolutely fine, fourth a medium/well done steak inedible and shrivelled.

As a regular visitor to the Sir Thomas Brown every week seems to get better and better. Cannot fault quality of food or the excellent service that compliments the hospitality afforded to everyone. Would higher recommend

As we now have a nice local pub on the estate,I called in with my brother yesterday evening as we enjoy a drink of the Real Ale ,we were so Disappointed to be told there was none left . this is Not good, This is a sign of a Pub not being ran very efficiently . Mr K Jones.

Finally- a local that's family friendly, welcoming, warm and serves good food! Gone is the tired old decor of the Pav and in its place is the new Sir Thomas Brown. We visited for Mother's Day as the dinner menu sounded really good value for money (3 courses for £15). The food was fantastic- hot, good quality and very well presented (often all lacking in other low budget pub meals). The staff were super and really accommodating to every request. All in all a lovely pub with a really friendly, cosy and relaxed vibe- will definitely be returning for food.

We have been a few times before but I took the children to the Parmo Tuesday as they had asked. My eldest had a hot shot and we asked the chef to make this as hot as possible. My son said it was the nicest Parmo he has had and the astounded chef came out to meet the 10yr old with an asbestos mouth!! We will be back again and not only highly recommend the amazing food but also the fabulous service. Thank you all xx

Friendly staff. Great food. Been here for several meals and nights out. They've done an amazing job revamping the place. I would definitely recommend the Sunday lunches
