Wandered up from Yarm in a desperate search for proper beer in a proper pub and found it in this delightfully unspoiled character pub. Won over by a quality pint and a warm welcome we decided to stay for lunch and try the Thai menu. I opted for the Jungle curry and my companion the garlic and oyster pork. Both were excellent. Don’t get up this far from York often but definitely coming back.

Food was exceptional, I've been to many Thai restaurants and the food was up there with some of the best, the massaman curry being very good. Great beers on offer as well. I've knocked a star off for atmosphere due to the place looking very tired compared to other pubs in the area.

Delicious authentic Thai food😊 We’ve visited the pot & glass several times & have never been disappointed. The food is always really fresh & good value, especially the £10 curry night. Dogs are allowed in the bar area & there is an outdoor beer garden which is great to sit out in the summer months.

We have been visiting the Pot and Glass about once a fortnight recently and usually are very happy. Went today and it was terrible. Really cold inside, much smaller portions than normal, server was miserable and only managed a smile when it was time to produce the bill and the bill was much higher than we have been paying of late. Don´t know what´s happened but not going back until it improves. Server did tell us at the end that she was sorry about the cold but the boiler had broken. There is a heater in the restaurant that the other servers have turned on before but that was not offered today.

The Pot and Glass has undergone major changes over the past year with a change of owners. The pub is now dog friendly which makes me very happy. The traditional pub grub has been scrapped in favour of a Cambodian/Thai menu that is outstanding. The dishes are excellent and I can't pick a favourite because they are all so good. If you are just after drinks, the Pot has a good selection of cask ales - which go perfectly with the roaring fire on a cold, wet evening. Staff are friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The only problem is that the pub is often very busy on a Friday/Saturday evening. Definitely book ahead if you want food. At peak times be prepared that you may have to wait for a table for drinks, or share with the friendly regulars.

Got the most expensive meal on the menu - The Crying Tiger Sizzler - which left me and my partner very underwhelmed. The meat that came with it was all fat and gristle making it literally inedible (tough) and was totally unacceptable. It’s the duty of the restaurant to give the customer a proper food experience, with edible food. This was not the case here unfortunately.

Disappointing experience I asked for Massaman Curry and what I got was rice with a few pieces of beef in a dark curry sauce which was very salty . I returned this plate to the kitchen . Having made Massaman on a few occasions and eaten it in other Thai restaurants this was a very poor representation. On the plus side. My wife enjoyed the meal she had, although a tad spicier than she is used to. The chicken satay starter was very tasty too. This was a Birthday dinner out so, as I said , ‘ disappointing’

I'm ashamed to say that, even though I have lived in this area almost all my life, this was my first visit to the Pot & Glass. We had heard about the recent change of ownership and our party of 6 were keen to try the food. We had heard it was very good and I'm pleased to say we were not disappointed. We chose a selection of starters that we shared between us, all of which we enjoyed. I chose sweet & sour chicken for my main course, as it's a dish I eat regularly and therefore perhaps a great way to assess the quality of the food. It tasted wonderfully fresh and was full of flavour, in fact one of the best I've eaten in a good while. My only small criticism is that some of our main meals were not piping hot, although this did not affect my enjoyment of the meal. One of our party felt the choice of vegetarian options was somewhat limited, although the meal she chose was by far the best Thai food she had ever eaten. The staff were friendly and attentive and looked after us very well. The owners also came to say hello, which was very much appreciated. Will definitely visit again.

This place is my local (though i live over 5 miles away) I started frequenting the Pot n Glass a good few years ago for its very good cask ales, traditional pub atmosphere and the friendly drinkers who have also made it their local. It has recently changed management to Kevin and Rebecca (big round of applause for them) and the pub has retained all the attributes that I have loved and cherish and many of the original staff have been retained. One change that has been evident is the offering of authentic Thai / Oriental food which I have sampled a number of times to my delight. This pub is always welcoming and because there's no blaring telly or piped music spoiling things you can have a great conversation and you may even make new friends. There is a lovely log fire blazing in the bar most nights which warms me up quickly after my cycle ride to the pub in the winter. I can highly recommend the Abbot ale and Old Peculier. I sincerely hope Kevin and Rebecca carry on the great tradition at the Pot N Glass.

Excellent find. I’ve wanted to try here for sometime, so on an impromptu walk around Yarm, we decided to go for some lunch. It’s a lovely stroll up to a quant area with views over Yarm. Ice cold Guinness was spot on and the food was excellent. My partner had a special Mediterranean chicken, and I had the beef pie. Very cautious when getting pies due to the disappointment when it’s loaded with fatty meat or mushrooms. This pie was exactly what you cross your fingers for. Perfectly cooked big chunks of beef in a rich ale gravy. Fantastic. And the landlord was brilliant. Really glad we went. I will definitely return & recommend, I hope they don’t leave (but that’s just me being selfish)
