What a find! Found it on trip advisor before heading to Alnwick and decided it would be the place to go for lunch. So many delicious looking cakes in the display cabinet. They have a unique offering of many different savoury and sweet scones which I would try another time. We opted for the soup of the day which was fantastic - chicken, mushroom and spinach and a toasted sandwich. We had goats cheese and caramelised onion chutney on tasty brown bread. We shared a soup and toasted sandwich between two as I had heard the portions were generous. It was ample for us to share as a light lunch. I would definitely go again next time I’m in Alnwick.

Grannies was a delight to discover on our trip to Alnwick. It's not very obvious from the shop but in the basement is an adorable tearoom. We had toasties for brunch which were fresh, delicious & served with a very appealing side salad. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the decor is atmospheric and cosy. We'll definitely be back.

We have been coming here for our Sunday roast, whilst on holiday for the past 3 years. They give you a steak knife for the meat. No need! A spoon would do. Delicious soft roasted meat, falls apart by itself! Huge portion, we especially loved the spiced red cabbage and peppery parsnip/turnip mash. Fabby staff and great ambiance. Everyone is so friendly. The pug was beside himself, Brilliant dog friendly pub. Great price too

Absolutely abysmal experience from start to finish. Visited here on bank holiday and asked for a takeaway coffee and the waiter could not have been ruder!! Disgusting service. Coffee was even worse. The guy looked like he could not be bothered to serve anyone and looked quite angry tbh. Would not recommend and would definitely not re visit. What a waste of money and time!

It was ok but nothing to push the boat out for. My daughter wanted chicken tikka panini but apparently had no tikka, I asked for a sandwich on brown bread cake but they had no brown bread cakes left. Really?? And this was only just after noon. Nothing special about the ham sandwich which all in all tasted bland. The dog ate most of it.

Caffe Piazza doesn't exist anymore, it is now called THE PIG IN MUCK, and it's a great place for a visit
