The Blue Bell Inn Alnwick in Northumberland

We ordered a medium and a small takeaway lunch and the food was delicious with very large portions. The staff were warm and welcolming and service was very quick. I know we will cisit again superb run establisment.

What an amazing place to visit,family, friends & animal friendly! The food Jackie cooks is phenomenal & the best home made food you could think og for very reasonable prices! Could not reccomend a more family friendly place! The staff make you feel at home no matter what your mood is there’s nothing more welcoming. Hands down the best & most welcoming place in Alnwick❤️

Great atmosphere, immediately made to feel welcome, the young lady running the bar and tables was good fun, perfect for the job, and the "ideal barmaid". Service was very good, food excellent with hearty sized portions. All made for an enjoyable visit to Alnwick. Worth walking past the other food outlets to find at the top of the town.

The staff here are so lovely and the food is absolutely amazing! There is no baby changing facilities but the staff were very accommodating and allowed me to use the function room. They are family friendly In every other way! With high chairs, appropriate plates, cutlery and nutritious food and staff who know how to talk to little ones. We will definitely be returning on our next visit to Alnwick! highly recommend!

My favorite pub in alnwick! What’s not to love unreal Sunday dinner , quality pints and a very welcoming atmosphere that doesn’t make you want to leave! 👌 The staff at the blue bell would do anything for you and are kindest people ever. Could not recommend this place enough!

Stayed here for a night in November, fabulous place to stay Jackie & Sophie cant do enough for you, Bedrooms spacious and clean excellent value. Cant recommend this place enough.

I would like to say a massive thank you to Sophie and Jackie for all their terrific support and help with our Retro disco fundraising event. The function room was beautiful and our orange balloons added even more colour. Loved all the sparkly lights. There were enough tables and chairs for everyone to have a relaxing night. It was our first venture to hold an event like this and couldn't have used a better venue. Nothing was too much trouble. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their evening. And you helped us raise over £800. Thank you Ps Thanks for the glow sticks.

Sencond time we have stayed here. Very dog friendly. Staff are amazing. Cant do enough to help. We stayed during very hot weather and the brought extra fan to room to help keep dogs cool. Shared bathroom but we were in the only room on that floor so basically we had bathroom to ourselves. Definitely will be going back there next year.

We just had a 3 night stay at Bluebell inn in Alnwick and it was lovely great central location, friendly staff so clean and comfortable great with dogs would defiantly stay again thanks guys !!

We found this place only a day before our arrive in Alnwick. The owner of the B&B is probably the most generous, friendly and kind person I have met over the last few years. The room was specious, price very reasonable, bed comfortable and location very good. We had very good sleep with no noises at all coming from outside or inside the pub .We saw on the booking.com a room with a bath but when we arrived there was only a shower on our floor. After asking I was given an access to the bath .

Had a really friendly welcome from Sophie on our arrival. We were shown our rooms. Which were very comfortable and well stocked with the essentials. Even though the bathrooms were shared they were spotlessly clean. She insisted on carrying up our suitcases. Breakfast was amazing. Such a great place.

Met very cordially by staff on arrival, who proved to be most consistent during our brief stay. Nothing was too much trouble and any and all requests were well met. We had an unexpected Birthday meal for one of our sons and his son also. Despite not requesting it, the staff provided an enormous helium filled Birthday balloon which was much appreciated.

My brother and I stay in Alnwick for two nights. The welcome we had from this place was great, Sophie was amazing, could not be more helpful. Breakfast was great. Thanks for everything, Sophie x

We stay in Alnwick every year and the Blue Bell is top of the list of our goto places.Got a great welcome as we walked through the door and its always a reunion with old friends, within 30 seconds it felt like coming home. The staff here are fantastic and the atmosphere is always great.The Sunday lunch is one of the things we really look forward to when we visit and with a three week stay this year we made the most of them, well prepared and presented with generous portions. In fact the medium size lunch would be a large anywhere else.The Blue Bell is a family run business and VERY dog friendly, in fact the dogs usually dragged us in! Spent most evenings in here at some point for a few drinks and always welcome, the dogs were spoilt rotten by the staff and the locals.A great place to while away an evening having a few drinks and a chat and by the friendliest pub in Alnwick.Thanks to Sophie, Jackie and Fern for helping make our stay memorable.

From the first time we went in, we were made to feel like we’d always been there. Such a friendly pub, amazing Sunday lunches and beer that’s served to perfection, you’ll not go wrong here. Highly recommended

My wife and I booked in with our Labrador and were given a nice, large room and shared bathroom, although nobody else seemed to use it. The pub below was quiet with a few regulars, but the notable thing was how friendly the bar staff and the landlady were; they made us feel at home and gave us lots of advice on where to go locally.

Great stay, We had a large room with comfortable bed and shared bathroom. Although it was a shared bathroom we had exclusive use and it was spotless.

We all had a lovely comfortable afternoon and evening here. Staff so very friendly and accommodating. Felt like i had known them for years!! Lovely clean and cosy rooms. All the fam shared just the one bathroom which was not a problem at all! Bar prices very reasonable and a real homely feel. Breakfast was delicious, just a shame some of the party were a tad hungover to take advantage!!

Spent good Friday here, should be Great Friday. Competitively priced, nice room, comfortable bed, everything you required. Mother and daughter run, they could not do enough. Chatty, amiable, I felt part of the family...

It was a last minute decision to stay there and i was very very happy with my decision to stay there the staff were friendly welcoming and were overall great and the rooms were worth the price i would 10/10 stay there again

Popped in several times and have been impressed by the friendliness of the bar staff, the warmth of the bar area with a few armchairs dotted here and there, and the most eclectic range of hardback books I've seen on one shelf. Although not sampled yet, the Sunday lunch is obviously a big hit with a large number of people based on the constant trooping out from the dining area. Must give that a go soon.....

We booked to stay 1 night as we are moving to the area soon and were off to visit schools in the surrounding area.

What can I say about the girls and the blue bell excellent service excellent food nothing to much trouble they even put up the decorations for me the buffet was fantastic a selection of hot and cold food by the way Sophie the curry was mmm!thank you so much for making Roberts birthday special I would highly recommend the blue bell for any function they do a smashing job

I would describe this inn as a war, welcoming, friendly 'local' where you are treated as a valued customer whether you are local or visitor to town. It has a good range of drinks and good menu choices. Overall, great value for money and a reliable place for a positive experience - right in the heart of town and near to the bus station.

What a cracking place to stay- the team at the pub were super friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to provide a great and memorable stay whilst I was over from Australia.

Staff at the Blue Bell Inn could not have been more friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and our room was ideal for an overnight stay. We were attending a wedding at Alnwick castle and it was an easy walk from the Blue Bell Inn. There was inevitable street noise as it was Saturday night but not a problem for us as we were out late at the wedding anyway.

Fantastic stay. Ok it’s not ensuite but that really didn’t matter- privacy no problem. The staff were “lush” - nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel so welcome - home from home.

We were looking for a nice friendly pub that would be serving Sunday lunch to help break the journey home from Scotland, Not wanting to use any of the chain restaurants if possible, a quick check on trip advisor and up popped the bluebells in Alnwick just 30 mins away ,a quick call and we were booked , on arrival in Alnwick we easily found a parking space close to the pub,no parking fees on a Sunday and every other day it's free with the use of a disc for two hours, upon entering we were quickly shown to our table , the pub wasn't as pretty as I'd hoped but the staff and lunch made up for it, The pork was sold out, chicken, lamb or beef was still available we both chose the beef and paid £10.00 for the large. And the wife had the regular offering that was only £8.00 both plates were piled high with two homemade Yorkshire puddings lots of roast beef ,vegetables and gravy , we both enjoyed our meals and we left full and glad we'd called

Just back from 3 night stay at the bluebell with my husband and 2 dogs. Had a lovely time. Great value for money, fab breakfast and evening meal. Jackie, Sophie and fern couldn't have done any more to make us feel welcome. Dogs very welcome and made a fuss of. Will definitely stay there again.

We stayed for two nights in the blue bell Inn! And since that we are in love with the property and with Alnwick! The rooms are lovely and every single room is a bit different! The Mother-Daughter-Duo is so adorable and we had a perfect getaway!

We visited Alnwick for the castle and a concert, we didn't expect the inn to be such a big part of the good time we had. Run by the loveliest people, the inn has comfortable rooms and a great full English breakfast. There's a pub downstairs, so no worries about what to in the evening.

Simply, best pie and chips I’ve ever had. Admittedly, I’m from the South. They don’t make pies like this down South. Possibly, they don’t make them like this anywhere.

A group of us stayed and ate at the Bluebell prior to doing a charity walk along the coast. The food portions are very generous! The menu options are standard pub fare but do include a good number of vegetarian choices and certainly the veg lasagne was very tasty. Not a menu for anyone looking to avoid carbs! But we weren't, so that was fine. Drinks options a bit limited in the restaurant section we found. Accommodation was clean and comfortable albeit on the old fashioned side (and rather cluttered) and you do have to share the toilet/bathroom facilities which wouldn't suit everyone. We had all the rooms on the upper floor so not so much of an issue. The staff couldn't have been more friendly or welcoming and that absolutely made the visit. Accommodation a bit pricey at £60 with breakfast another £7 (although again very copious amounts and good vegetarian options). And of note if you have mobility issues, the stairs up to the bedrooms are quite steep.

Stayed here while attending a gig- staff are so friendly. Rooms are spacious and spotless. Shared bathroom but wasn't a problem as we knew before we came. Fantastic breakfast. Couldn't fault the place. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.xxx

Sophie greeted us with a smile and nothing was too much trouble. We were well looked after from the minute we arrived till when we left next day. She was full of energy and always smiling.

We stay in Alnwick every year and the Blue Bell is always on our goto list this is a great family run business and everything that is served is cooked on the premises and uses local produce, and crucially for us also VERY dog friendly

We were in Alnwick on Wednesday 27 June.. This was the best place we visited.. The food is plentiful... and very reasonably priced.. The staff treat customers more like friends than other places we tried in that town..

We recently stayed there for 2 nights. Found the bed really comfortable, very clean & friendly staff. Also it's located next to the high street. Plenty to do. Would highly recommend and will stay again in near future x

We didn't book but arrived early and were greeted with a friendly welcome. We were shown to our table and given the menu which had a wide variety of good pub choice.The meal was a 8oz sirloin steak cooked medium. We were told there would be a 15- 20 min wait and the meal arrived on time. The meal was delicious and probably the cheapest we have paid. A fantastic experience at a very very good price.

We booked into my homeland on Bank Holiday Monday for one night . Oh what a Night ...... Wished we’d been there for a week Sofie and Jackie are the perfect people to run this p,ace The rooms are so nice , beds so comfy , and the breakfasts are so big We suggest you dont eat for 36hours before challenging it ha ha But leave any of it —— beware Jackie is there .Alan and I have stayed in many B&B; but this must be the best , friendliest place we have stayed Jacki —— Alan is looking forward to your Pidgeon pie when we next visit sorry he told me to add this xxxx

A beautiful homemade Sunday lunch. I had the roast beef and it just melted in my mouth. The other 3 people in the party had chicken. Lots of gorgeous fresh vegetables. Could really recommend it.

Stayed at the Blue Bell Inn for the second time and was once again delighted with the service. Sophie and family worked very hard keeping the Inn and accomodation very clean and welcoming. For travellers on a budget this is highly recommended.

Jackie and her staff were fantastic, so friendly and helpful. They couldn't have done more for me and my teenage son. They made us feel like a part of their family. Cleanliness is excellent. Brilliant breakfast and a good selection of drinks in the room. Jackie has lots of ideas about places to visit and good food spots.

myself and my partner recently attended a wedding in Alnwick. We found this little gem of a B&B; and I must share my experience...

We called here for a few beers after a long bike ride . A pint of Coors was £3.30 quite reasonable we thought . As our numbers grew the landlady arrived behind the bar to help out and the Coors jumped to £3.50 . On the evening shift it was back to £3.30 were they trying to make a quick profit we thought ???

This was a budget one night B & B en route back from Dundee. The reviews about breakfast had sold it to us.

Warm welcome from Jackie. Comfortable room. Shared toilet/shower room. Good breakfast. Would return.

We stayed the one night as we were playing golf nearby. The hosts were very friendly and the rooms we had were spacious and clean. The breakfast was fantastic and really set us up for our 2nd round of golf.

I stayed here with friends, the landlady is very friendly, there's good beer and the breakfast was good too. The toast and coffee just kept coming with no extra charge. I was given a room to myself at no extra charge. Thoroughly recommend this place.

We have just arrived home from a 2 night stay with the lovely Jackie & Peter. From the moment we arrived we were made welcome. Our room was bright and spacious and although we had a shared bathroom this was not an issue. Well what can I say about the breakfast! It was the best full English we've had! Plenty of toast, cereal, fruit, yogurt, fresh orange, tea & coffee were available. Our dog Millie was very well looked after and was served a bowl of chopped up sausages for her breakfast! Their daughter Sophie worked behind the bar and was equally as friendly. Jackie gave us some recommendations on local restaurants and the 2 we visited were fabulous! The locals are so friendly we were made very welcome. We will be visiting again without a doubt! Thank you so much Jackie & Peter for making our stay so enjoyable and memorable! We look forward to staying with you again!

We have just come back from a 2 night stay at the Bluebell in Alnwick...we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, well presented and extremely clean. Jackie the landlady was the perfect host and made us feel extremely welcome...even the locals made us welcome, we had a very enjoyable weekend. The breakfast were huge and delicious . On our 2nd night we were upgraded to the 4 poster bedroom which was just lovely and extremely comfortable. Thank you Jackie and Peter for a lovely weekend.

Stayed last night with my other half and it was brilliant. Our room was nice and clean and the bed was so comfortable. The owners were so friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend this place

Jackie is really one of the most approachable and friendly pub landlady 's I've ever met. She is so lovely to chat to and felt like we'd met before! We were at a party nearby and stayed here overnight. Our room was large with simple, clean decor and a good full English breakfast, free car parking. Jackie recommended Barter Books which is well worth a visit.

I can only agree with other peoples posts you don't just have a drink at this pub you feel like part of the family. Even the locals made you feel welcome and as if you have known them for years. The cheapest bar in Alnwick. The only pub I have ever been in and you go home with a full cooked chicken for supper (yes really but you had to be there). Spoke to people who where staying there and they loved it. We was staying in a cottage near my but are planning a visit and will be staying here.

We went to Alnwick for a day and we had the most warm welcome. The staff was extremely friendly. The breakfast was good and the rooms were clean. Everything was lovely. Very recommended.

Had nice breakfast in morning full English. Lots on plate,and toast and juice tea and coffee.this is a lovely place to stay, had canny chat with Jackie about the area. Were we were going for day etc, will come back to Alnwick and definitely we will stay here again, would recommend for a visit and stay over.

Arrived to a warm welcome and this continued throughout our stay. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable. Bathrooms were shared, but there are two of them and no way was this a problem. The landlady could not have been more helpful and nothing was too much trouble to ensure we had everything we needed. Food was excellent, if you wanted something different to full English then just ask. Value for money this was one of the best places we have stayed. Wonderful people and we left feeling we had a new family

Stayed here for one night, very surprised to find 4 rooms had to share 1 bathroom, which was carpeted, with no shower curtain and no shaver socket. Bedroom was very basic, no wardrobe, no chair and uncovered tea bags on a plate. Closed the window in the evening and Unable to open again. No option given for breakfast we were given a full English breakfast, mine was swimming in oil. Would not recommend, would rather Pay £20 more for comparative luxury. This is not "family" friendly due to foul language in the bar.

Location was excellent. Host were very welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Passed on info about places to visit in the area. Best full english breakfast that we,ve ever had.Great value for money.

Just returned from the bluebell inn alnwick. What a lovely place. Staff were very welcoming. Bedroom was lovely and clean . Separate bathroom which we had no issue with. Breakfast was a full English which we could not fault.

We visited the Blue Bell during a visit to Alnwick. Hungry and needing somewhere DOG FRIENDLY we noticed the blackboard in front of the pub. Sometimes dog friendly places can be a little 'rough' but the pub was very clean and Jackie and Abby were very friendly. To top this off the food selection was varied and the meals we had were VERY LARGE and VERY TASTY. As we were in a self catering cottage this suited us as once we had eaten lunch, we couldn't eat anything else that day.

Staying in Seahouses for our holiday, we decided to try to dodge the rain while we were in Alnwick, luckily the blue bell was opposite the bus station where we got off. We went in to a lovely happy welcome from the bar maid. We ordered a gammon a children's sausage and mash and a lamb shank. The food came about 20 minutes later but we weren't prepared for the portion sizes! The gammon could have fed all three of us, and it was all delicious too! Would definitely recommend this pub for its friendless, fab food and value for money!

We stayed in Alnwick for our second honeymoon. Came across this very friendly pub while looking for somewhere to eat and struck gold. Happy atmosphere, great locals and the food was superb. Loved it so much we used it as our local while we were in Alnwick, returning every evening, where Jackie would always ask what we had seen that day while she sorted out for us a perfect itinerary for the next day. Better than any tourist info centre. We are looking forward to returning before Christmas, when we will even take the dog so he can have one of Jackie's dog treats she keeps in a jar. I can not overstate how much I recommend this lovely pub.

Staying on holiday in The Alnwick area we decided to visit The Blue Bell Alnwick, After a day of touring the Grounds of Alnwick Castle, What can we say, except...... Excellent food, all home made and good portions!!! We enjoyed it here so much that we went back another evening . Definitely not to be missed . I went in with my Mum after visiting the castle. Its a small pub with a friendly welcoming atmosphere & staff. We each had dinner, veggie sausages,veg & mash and lasagne salad & chips. About £10 each & worth it we got huge portions, 1 meal was enough for 2 people!! highly recommended as dinner was lovely

On a day in Alnwick looked for a dog friendly pub to have lunch and found the bluebell opposite the bus station. It is a small pub and we were the only people in but that didn't matter as we were made very welcome. The staff were lovely, really made you feel welcome and chatted about places to visit. Our dog was made very welcome and a dish of water was provided for her. The meals were massive. We had chicken curry which came with fried rice and chips, chicken pie and chips, sausage and mash and a dish of soup which came with 2 bread rolls. Classic pub food at reasonable price would definetly recommend.
