We have been to Matlock many times but have only just found this lovely little cafe. My daughter and I called on this morning and sat outside, with her dog, overlooking the park. The coffee was lovely and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed the Bakewell tart. Pleasant staff. Will definitely be calling in again on our next visit to Matlock

My family took me here yesterday for my birthday!!! It’s by far the best afternoon tea I have ever had!!! We had both sweet and savoury, everything was delicious!!! 😍 I’ve never seen so much food though! The portions were beyond generous!!! 😊 there were a good selection of little sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls, pork pie, onion rings, cheeses, fish bites, chicken bites, all different fancy cakes, sweet and cheese scones and so much more, I just can’t name everything!!!! And unlimited tea and coffee, all were beautifully presented with lovely attentive members of staff!!! Thank you so much!! I can’t wait to return please try this lovely establishment, you won’t be disappointed ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was really hoping for the wholesome, home cooked food that the price tag promised. The bean casserole tasted like a tin of baked beans with a whole load of dried sage stirred in. The salad could have been bought in a bag at Asda. I won't be going back.

What a find! We have been to Matlock Bath a few times over the years, and whilst we’re not a million miles away, there was nothing really pulling us back there. We’d go for lunch as a family, or I’d ride my motorbike over for a coffee, but sometimes it’s a bit busy and hard to get seated comfortably and nowhere really that made you feel welcome. Outkast Company absolutely changed that. Not only was I made up as a biker to find a proper bike destination, but taking the kids somewhere that they are actually welcomed and treated as if they are present. The place was busy with every seat filled and there were people standing and enjoying a good chat too. The atmosphere was buzzing. Despite all that a couple of guys (customers) cleared a table for us and stood so we could sit down and eat, the owner welcomed the kids and introduced himself, as did a lady working there. The sense of community as a biker made me feel kind of proud that places like this still exist, but as a family man, I can’t remember the last time anywhere gave us a genuine welcome. The food is great value and those with a sweet tooth can forget going anywhere else. The coffee is insanely good too. If that’s not all, they even have their own beer which I took a bottle away and now I have to go back and get more! The food is hearty, fresh and delicious. For what you get, the prices are cheap compared to everywhere else in Matlock Bath. I genuinely can’t say there is another place that I can think of where all of this lives under one roof. There were a lot of small groups of bikers and a few couples that came and went. A massive mix of a crowd clearly enjoy coming here so the place obviously has a great reputation. It sounds a bit extreme but in this day and age it’s hard to find a genuine atmosphere rather than the usual places you go were everybody sits separately and doesn’t engage with anyone. You must pay a visit when in town, particularly if you ride. Avoid the usual struggle to park your bike to be rewarded with expensive fish and chips, come here instead.

Only had a coffee, so I can't comment on the food. Coffee was good considering it wasn't barista made. £3 for an Americano with milk is a pretty standard price these days. The lady that served me was pleasant and friendly. Shame that people were smoking in/around the outside seating area. I was planning on taking a seat to enjoy the view, but I didn't fancy the secondhand smoke, but that's a personal preference for me. I'm not a smoker and had my 9 week old son with me.

Lovely little pub, the owner and the bar staff were SO lovely and so accommodating for us! It's dog friendly, the prices are so reasonable I found it hard to spend £5 for the minimum card payment but the owner bless him, allowed the staff member to bypass it for me this time round 🥺 The music was nice and the locals were super lovely too 🥺 definitely will visit again!

When paying our bill, I mentioned to the staff that the Chai lattes weren’t great. Before I’d even explained they appeared to know what the issue was. I explained that it was a) very bitter but more importantly b) would not combine with the milk no matter how much we stirred, and it was very grainy. I was unable to drink mine, but my mum persevered only to find (regardless of all the stirring) a thick sludge at the bottom of her cup. The staff said they’d noticed this themselves and they didn’t understand why it was happening and apologised profusely. One of the staff went to fetch what I can only assume was the owner whilst I offered to just pay the bill as I hadn’t raised it for a refund, it was merely feedback- although this was very nice of them to try. When the owner appeared, they informed I needed to stir it (groundbreaking suggestion), which I assured them we had done… vigorously but to no avail. I was then informed that it was a top-quality organic product without any of the things like sugar that ‘I’d be used to’ in it – not sure implying that your guests don’t understand quality is the most customer orientated approach, especially when you know nothing about them but hey ho – my background is over a decade in the food, beverage and hospitality industry just for awareness as well as chai latte being the only hot beverage I drink, so trust me I’ve spent years pursuing good quality chai lattes and this was not one. I will say I was offered a replacement drink but honestly wanted to leave and I didn’t fancy another mouth full of grit. The rest of the staff were lovely though and this is reason I haven’t given less stars.
