Friendly staff with wide choice of 1st class food at very reasonable price . Well worth the visit and place that I will use again on my next visit to Matlock Bath and by the way also very dog friendly inside and out.

Lovely breakfast, had a Full English which was cooked perfectly and an ideal portion. However, there was a long wait on the food and the cafe was far from full. Coffee was a bit of a let down too as the lattes weren't very well-made. So not the best if you're restricted for time, but we did enjoy sitting outside for breakfast and the food was great quality. Staff friendly and helpful.

Really nice food, welcoming staff, great coffee, had bacon and Brie melts which were delicious, the kids scrambled egg was huge. However we asked for plain gluten free jacket potato no butter just cheese as were that paranoid about being poisoned. However it came with butter and cheese and salad and being English we ate it anyway, big mistake. I wish they would’ve said they weren’t sure if they could do gluten free to avoid ruining the next few days. Gluten food lovely though.

This is the first time I've come across this cafe despite being a regular visitor to Matlock Bath. We will certainly be back. Only had a couple of coffees this time but the cakes looked lovely and a table near us had some food which smelled good. The two ladies were extremely friendly and helpful when we asked for recommendations for a nearby campsite. There was a very friendly feeling to the place and they seemed to be enjoying their job which always helps. A lovely cafe in pleasant surroundings.

Another very lovely visit to Restoration cafe! Lovely cherry scone, great coffee but on every visit it is the warm and friendly welcome of the staff team that really makes a difference and makes it worth returning! There is the added bonus that you can buy jams, pickles and marmalades made on site…. These are not mass produced somewhere in a factory with a local label stuck on, but actually made by the staff team, they make a great small gift, a nice treat to take home. They also sell Grand Pavilion beers, tea and coffee . All the profits go back into keeping the Grand Pavilion building alive … the building is both an important heritage building and a great venue for everything from local kids drama classes and family parties through to internationally renowned live bands and theatre.

Visited during a rainy day, wasn't very busy and plenty of space to sit. Order was eventually taken at the front after a short wait of no one acknowledging myself or the family waiting to be served. A slice of cake, bacon sandwich and 2 coffees ordered. Bacon sandwich arrived, no offer of sauce but credit due, actually tasted really nice. Shortly after, coffee and cake arrived. We had ordered flat whites and been presented with lattes, the kind your Mum makes with her first coffee pod machine. Waitress scurried off before we could ask why we have the wrong order. Cake was no doubt about 3 days old, had the texture of slightly chewy and not alot else. If you're after a good coffee, don't bother visiting here.

Matlock Bath is a wasted opportunity (by the local council) by its lack of diverse places to visit there - unless you like fish and chips or arcade machines. However The Pavillion/Restoration Cafe breaks that mould. We nearly missed this place whilst walking back to Cromford Mills today but saw the billboard outside proffering competitive drinks and rate priced. They weren’t wrong. But it was the general friendly atmosphere, the choice of cakes, the local souvenir edibles and bottled beers and the staff enthusiasm, knowledge and helpfulness which made the most impact. In these days of average coffees, daft prices and mean portion sizes it came as a pleasant surprise to find a venue that actually bucks that depressing trend and gave piping hot cappuccinos and generous millionaire shortcake pieces. Needless to say we shall be coming back every time we go to Cromford and will take advantage of their loyalty card scheme. It made the perfect end to what we thought would be just another walk along Matlock Bath Prom! A fascinating place with an equally fascinating history beautifully described in photographic form on the walls! Highly recommended - from the man who makes Victor Meldrew seem the easy going type!

Good quality, hot food. Great prices. Staff are polite and friendly. The cafe was warm on a damp October afternoon. Most of the eating places in Matlock were chip shops or uninviting cold pubs. This cafe is child friendly, nice menu for all. The cakes looked scrumptious Fresh salad and good coleslaw were served with our jacket potatoes and three pats butter. The tea was good quality .Excellent!

Had the best breakfast at The Restoration cafe whilst staying nearby. It was a quiet Monday in autumn and I was so glad that this cafe was open. It was spacious warm and inviting. Staff were so lovely and polite and I found the environment very interesting. I read about the history of the building and how it is fundraising whilst I enjoyed a lovely coffee, which was then followed up by a small breakfast, which was anything but small! Good quality bacon, sausage and plenty of beans, mushrooms eggs and hash brown. Just what I needed to start the day. I didn’t try them but the cakes looked delicious and I loved the local prints, cards and pickles available to buy. If you’re in Matlock bath, visit this cafe and feel good knowing that your custom helps with their fundraising efforts to modernise the building it sits within.

Matlock bath was our final stop on our journey home from our mini break and we had great hope from this cafe by the car park. However it was not to be, to get two sausage rolls and two drinks from the fridge took the better part of 15 minutes. Considering it's written all over the outside of the building that they use their profit to improve their facility perhaps they should first ensure the basic staff competence is achieved. In addition to this I was slightly horrified that inspite of being a paying customer we were still expected to pay 20p for a toilet. I object to this in any location but more so where I'd already paid and waited 15 minutes at the start of a cue for what seemed to be a basic order. Would certainly not return to this establishment.

A waitress asked if we wanted the heating on, but as we were only going to have a quick coffee we declined. We ordered a decaf and ordinary Americano (£2.20 each), but the waitress brought us two ordinary coffees in the first instance, but she apologised for her mistake and quickly replaced one for a decaf. I watched one of the young men folding the cutlery into napkins and he cared a lot about what he was doing and would redo it if it was not perfect. It was the sort of perfectionism you would expect to see from a trainee in a high end city restaurant and it was great to see him taking pride in his job.

Went here for our 5 year anniversary. Won't be returning. Food is chain pub quality for a 5* price. We were shoved in a side room where you can see the kitchen yet food came cold. Mains followed the starters like almost immediately so I'm not sure how 'freshly made' food is. I ordered the burger without sauce (as I don't like blue cheese) and with being in view of kitchen could hear them moaning about my order. Followed by a member of the kitchen watching me eat it. Had our server been around this is something I'd have brought up but we didn't see anyone and being that we were hungry we ate the food. Having read other reviews I have to agree to the burger being overpriced and bland the meat dry even after adding plain mayo to it. The wine we chose was £50+ but is £24 in Waitrose. We finally saw our server again to offer us dessert however once we'd declined dessert that was it. No one came back to us, another round of drinks would've be nice but nothing. The other half had to go find someone to pay the bill. Whilst he was gone (I'm assuming it was the places accountant that was seated next to us as someone brought them a large bag of receipts which felt somewhat unprofessional) our server reappeared and stood next me only to talk to accountant. To which the person had to tell her to move so I could leave as she was blocking my way. We were never once was asked how the food was or if everything was alright. Just seemed like they'd got our money and were done with us. Not how we wanted to spend our Anniversary. £130+ wasted, money doesn't bother us when it's worth it. This wasn't. As locals to the area we'll stick to the pubs we know. If you want a fine dining experience try the Maynard because this is just an overpriced weatherspoons.
