Food took a while to arrive. Then arrived separately! Mine was stone cold! Mentioned it to staff... didn't seem bothered!

Just drinks on a Saturday afternoon.

Great selection of ales, food looked great but haven’t been… yet!

Food was okay, my pizza was more bread than pizza and toppings. Food came out fast and drinks were okay

First time visit. What a little gem! The decor is contemporary and quirky. The furniture is tasteful, comfortable and very luxurious. Staff gave excellent service. Choice of beers was amazing. Not overly expensive. Didn’t eat here, but the food looked plentiful, really appetising and there were empty plates all round. Even in the ladies, there was a skylight with mosaics on it shining through and “Oi, oi sexy bum” written on the toilet doors! Would definitely recommend this place! Told the Licensee so too. Fabulous place. Doggy friendly.

Friendly staff but poor service. Absolutely forgot about our food waited over an hour before we asked where our food was told us it was being played 15/20 minutes later it arrived, two burgers don’t take 20 minutes to plate.

1st visit to The Remarkable Hare yesterday and definitely one to remember. Fantastic food and great selection of beers. Between us we had the burger & salt & pepper fries, a pizza and steak carbonara....and a great chocolate mousse for desert....all superb !!! Well worth a visit and we'll definitely be back soon !! Also the lovely Paige looked after us...a very knowledgeable and lovely person. Thanks for a wonderful lunch time !! We'll see you again soon.

Banging pie 🩷 Wow the chicken and chorizo Pie was absolutely beautiful! A lovely thick homemade pastry, fresh veg, lovely chips and a gorgeous gravy! Tons of filling in the pie too! Delicious! 10/10! Check for pie of the day when ordering. You won’t be disappointed 💪

Came here with a large group of friends today. We had pre ordered our food in advance so service was really quick. The restaurant is very light and airy with a lovely feeling. There's a great choice on the menu with some interesting options. The food was absolutely delicious with massive portion sizes. The pizzas are almost big enough for 2. Recommend the Pecan pie for dessert. Prices were good and about what you'd expect. Staff are all so helpful and friendly.

Last minute detour into The Hare about 6pm. Table for 2 acquired in the restaurant. Fantastic service and wonderful food. The steak pie was unbelievable and the korean chicken noodle salad just superb. We live nearby and will return soon. Could not fault our visit today. Great value for money too.

Young blonde girl behind the bar didn't have much customer service attitude and didn't seem a happy person .Toilet smell was entering side of the bar. Most probably a descent pub but experience yesterday wasn't the best

Came in for lunch with my mum, the pub wasn't busy, the owner of the pub was in having some kind of meeting, using foul language, being loud and roudy ruining the atmosphere. He then proceeded to have a go at a local delivery driver in a very rude manor, mouthing off about owning the pub and making a very uncomfortable space. The food was okay, however meat was very dry appearing to be over cooked, which was a shame considering it was quiet, as well as the toast of the sandwich being burnt.

Lovely place with a nice atmosphere. Shame about the service. Firstly the blonde lady at the bar got my drinks order wrong and overcharged me. When I pointed out the error there was no apology. I then ordered food for myself and the wife. It took over an hour to arrive. We asked a couple of times as to when the food would be coming. The lady in the black dress was very dismissive. She told us at one stage that it would be ready in 3 minutes which turned out to be around 15. We complained to her and she quite abruptly said “want do you want be to do about it” we suggested a discount which she reluctantly gave us. I think she needs a course on customer service. It was a great shame because the food was delicious when it arrived.

Very friendly staff, and a fabulous menu! The food was so well presented and tasty! Pub is also very dog friendly, with a water bar, treats pick n mix bar and blankets/poop bags etc - a really nice touch!

Food is blooming lovely. We stayed in Matlock 3 nights and ate here twice. Great choice of different types of food. Shame it's at the bottom of the hill as we had to walk up the hill absolutely stuffed.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I recently had the pleasure of enjoying an absolutely fantastic Sunday lunch at the Remarkable HARE in Matlock. Every section of the plate was expertly cooked and beautifully presented, making for a delightful dining experience. To top it all off, the service was exceptional. A huge shoutout to Michael Thompson for creating such a wonderful atmosphere and inviting me to this gem of a place. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an amazing meal! And to top it off, what a fantastic drive through the Chatsworth Estate.

This is normally my go to place after a walk in the peaks, but the past couple of Saturdays I have noticed the portion size has reduced by about 40 percent, but the price is the same. Average price for a couple, plus drinks is £40. Staff are friendly. Dog friendly.

Always a warm welcome here, the drink selection is good. Food is served daily and is very nice.

Went in Saturday lunch. The bar was busy and there was a function on in the back room however we didn't have to wait long for our food. I had the pie, my wife a burger both of which were excellent. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this bar.

Very busy pub where you need to wait 1.30min to get badly cooked pizza! Ordered pepperoni pizza and looked very much that the cooked had forgotten to add pepperoni and added double amount tomato puree! Absolutely disgusting food. During the wait a lot of people went to bar area and complaint about wait and quality of the food and staff started giving out free drinks to compensate the wait! Avoid unless u have a plenty of time to wait and willingness to eat badly cook food.

Far from remarkable. Visited for lunch today. We both ordered a sandwich. After waiting for 35 minutes, I asked at the bar where my food was. I was told it was coming now. Another 15 minutes went by and as I was approaching the bar for a refund, the food turned up. I asked to speak to the manger. As she approached the table, she just said, "what's the problem?" I explained that we had waited over 45 minutes for the food and her response was "and?". Not the attitude I expected. She then asked me what I wanted to do about it. I'm not normally one to complain, I wasn't looking for a refund. An apology would have been nice. If I'd been told that the food would take so long, I wouldn't have ordered it. Then to be lied to by the bar staff/kitchen just isn't on. Needless to say, I won't be visiting again.

Beware, the menu is very misleading. It shows 25% discount on food and drinks Mon-Fri between 4pm-5pm . However having visited today at 4pm and ordered food and drinks I was informed the offer is not available during Dec. This information is not dislayed anywhere in the pub and I was rudely advised it is shown on the website. I would suggest this is tantamount to false advertising. Disappointing experience.

Had a mid week lunch with my wife in The Remarkable Hare today. We were greeted by very friendly staff, the food was excellent and plenty of it and all for a very reasonable price. We'll definitely go back again and certainly recommend it.

Excellent visit on Saturday 14th December. Food was superb, great wine and beers. Staff were brilliant !!! We will 100% be back over the festive period.

Booked lunch for 3 on a Monday dinner and travelled from Lincoln on the strength of the reviews, extensive and varied menu. We were not disappointed. We received a very warm welcome in lovely surroundings from the Attentive, Friendly, Polite & Extremely Professional Staff. They are a credit to their employers. The Food? ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Wonderfully Presented, Extremely Generous Portions & without doubt I can't remember better. All credit to the kitchen team. Return visits are guaranteed.

Food was amazing! Portion sizes were way bigger than we expected and really delicious. The tapas dishes did not disappoint. Service could have been better. One waitress was very rude and unhelpful but all other staff members were absolutely lovely! Decor is quirky, atmosphere was great & we hope to return!

Long weekend in Matlock and came across this great pub. Food was really good, hot and beautifully presented. Service was great, friendly and helpful. Extremely popular,busy lively atmosphere with a restaurant area at the back. Would highly recommend 👌

Our second visit to the Remarkable Hare and again it didn’t disappoint. The food was hot and tasty! The onion rings are amazing! We were a table of 7 and the staff were friendly and got us drinks throughout the meal! Great place!

We went twice with our dog and both times brilliant , the food was amazing , I had a steak pizza best I’ve had, our furry friend was well catered for with treats and fresh drinking water, I was working in Matlock, definitely will pop in again if I’m in Matlock again, can’t beat the value for money

Great food and very generous portions.

Definitely need to book on a Sunday. Portions are large and all freshly prepared and cooked so there is a wait. Got busy really quickly. Staff polite and helpful and didn't stop moving all of the two hours we were there. Doggy treat station and staff asked after the wellbeing of our dog. We will be going back to enjoy again.

I called in at the Remarkable Hare at 9.25pm, they advertise opening hours are 11.00 am until 11.00pm, as I approached the bar I was told “ I’m sorry we have stopped serving” this being 1hour and 35 minutes before closing, there was no sign stating the pub was closed. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told it wasn’t worth paying 6 members of staff to stay on just to serve me. there were others in the bar and last orders had not been called, Surely if a bar advertises they are open until 11.00pm they should still be serving at 9.25pm

We had booked a table but when we arrived they said that they were only serving us food because we had booked a table and there was a very limited menu for us to choose from. With some difficulty we ordered, but it took a long time for the food to come although it was reasonable in the end

Pretty average My order was messed up and they have me the wrong food, which was a bit of a bonus as the food they bought out was cold! I ordered the dancing pig fries which weren’t great to be honest. The pork belly was dry and had clearly been in a frier. The chips were soggy, the fried noodles were missing. Couldn’t finish the food as it wasn’t very nice. I wouldn’t go back or recommend which was a shame as it had a nice atmosphere.

Restaurant manager refused to allow a 16 yr old to consume alcohol with her meal despite this being perfectly legal provided she was accompanied by an adult and did not attempt to buy it herself. When one of the party poured a small amount of cider into her glass the manager threatened to throw them all out if they did it again

Lovely place to visit for food and drink. Lots of different food on the menu and very delicious. Friendly staff make you feel welcome. Would recommend.

Good Brewery pub and is dog friendly

Great pub, there is a little carpark nearly by, it is pay and display. There is plenty of parking in walking distance. Great food, go hungry. The portions aren't small. Book for Sunday dinner as it is extremely popular. Dog friendly, they have a whole dog station with treats, water bowls, and even blankets for your furry friend.

Disappointing Experience at The Remarkable Hare We recently dined at The Remarkable Hare, and unfortunately, it was not a great experience. We were seated in a corner with each of us facing a grease-stained wall, which was not exactly a welcoming atmosphere. By the time we left, we smelled of smoky grease, adding to the overall unpleasantness. We ordered tapas, and at least half of it seemed to be deep-fried frozen food, while the other half consisted of overcooked, scabby bits of meat, all served with a measly amount of shop-bought sauce dobbed on top. For the price (£7.50 per plate), we expected much better quality. The service was also disappointingly slow, making an already poor meal even more frustrating. Overall, the meal was overpriced and underwhelming. I doubt we will return, but the management should really act on these issues.

Great place to drop after a long walk.

We went kayaking at Carsington Water and googled where to find a hearty pub lunch afterwards. This place did not disappoint! The pizzas are massive and delicious, I asked what gravy the cheesy chips came with and it's usually meat but they provided a jug of the meat and a second jug of gorgeous veggie gravy so me and my hubby could both enjoy dunking the chips! Super friendly staff, funky decor and dog friendly. Matlock is such a cool town too with all the quirky shops, we will deffo be back.

Love this place. We live over 150 miles away, but if we are ever passing within a 20 mile or so radius to Matlock, we always make a point of stopping here. Food is outstanding. Atmosphere is great. Never had bad service. Pricing is leaning towards the higher end, but have no problem paying when the quality is this good. 10/10

Beautiful Sunday roast! One of the best in a very long time. Portions were incredible, and the customer service was imaculate, the young waitors and waitresses were so polite, and welcoming. We will come again!

Quick visit for a coffee which was ok

We just had a quick pint. Nice feel too the place. Good to see a sweets of comfy seats/sofas. Ale seemed well kept.

Pleasant pub, good beer selection

Beer is great. Food is simple, honest and great, mostly served with chipshop chips. The place has a very good atmosphere and the staff are friendly and considerate, even asking questions to ensure vegetarians and vegans are properly catered for. I want to come again.

The chicken I ordered was raw in the middle. Sent it back and got refunded the £18 it cost.

The atmosphere and drinks are nice but I could not believe the price of the food. We got tapas and I was charged £7.50 for THREE pieces of tenderstem broccoli. Maybe having two different price points for the tapas is a good idea? Charging £7.50 for a bowl of olives is simply inexcusable, but I understand £7.50 for the chorizo. Other people's food looked a decent portion, however, so maybe it's just the tapas that overpriced.
