Lovely little cafe, excellent breakfast. We booked a table in advance to avoid disappointment. We really enjoyed both drinks and food, the only thing was our first drinks took a while, but the place was busy! Would recommend and definitely go again.

Visited late on a Sunday afternoon and the cafe was packed so we sat in their front courtyard. The scone was yummy albeit it burnt on the bottom. Service was understandably slow. Still would return but plan ahead and get a table inside.

Has a fabulous "Autumn Afternoon Tea" here with my Mum and sister one Sunday afternoon. What a lovely place - nothing was too much trouble. We let them know one of us is a wheelchair user and they booked us an easy table with this in mind. The afternoon tea was superb - everything very well put together and some of the more delicate flavours (for example the mixed berry compote with the scone) kept the taste very interesting all the way through. We'll absolutely 100% be back in the not too distant future.

In these strange times the menu was varied and interesting. The dirty chips we had were wonderful and a definite to have again, naughty but oh so nice😉 Visited yesterday 29/06/21for a lunch time meal. Great meal very reasonable prices but moreover the food quality is excellent. We both had the honey ham and duck eggs. Fantastic. August 2024. Looks like the ownership may have changed. We dropped in for lunch but my partners food was very definitely over cooked, the waiter asked how our food was and when we told him how poor it was he just smiled and walked away. When I paid the the bill I informed them of the poor quality of my partners food and the waiters lack of interest and they did remove the cost of the meal from the bill. Would now think twice about returning, a real shame as it used to be so good.

We came in on a Friday morning, the staff were quite helpful at first in helping me find a spot with good WiFi connection and a plug for my laptop. My friend and I ordered 3 drinks between two of us. We wouldn't be sitting long if we noticed the restaurant getting busy but it wasn't. The waitress tells us that we would need to leave in 15-20 mins as someone's booked the table. I asked if we could move to another table for two but were told that it would be getting 'full' very soon. 20 mins later, there aren't any new customers in. So I am not sure if that was the case or it was just a ploy for us to leave as we weren't spending enough.

Very cosy beautiful tea rooms, lovely setting and staff. For £23 the food a little ordinary, we had high tea. The sandwiches were thick white bread with boring cheap fillings, i ate some of fillings and left all the bread. We got a small warm scone for savory. The cakes, coffees & teas were very nice. I would go back but order something else off the menu.

Lovely afternoon tea with my daughter. The staff were really attentive and made sure that my vegetarian daughter was catered for. They went through all the food with us both. We started with warm cheese scones with beetroot butter, then came the platter - a great array of sandwiches, followed by little cakes and truffles, then fruit scones with cream and homemade jam. We couldn't eat it all so we were given little boxes to bring home the leftovers. The atmosphere is quintessentially British. Would definitely recommend.

Simply the best afternoon tea I have ever had. And the value is outstanding. We started with a surprise-onion and celeriac soup with cheese croutons. Just the right size potion. The sandwiches were lovely and the chef was flexible to change from the planned menu. The scones were to die for with tart and lovely fresh jam. The meal was so filling we took away some of the desserts for later. You’ll need to book. They gave us the equivalent of a private room as there were 9 of us. Fantastic place.

We arrived at 4.20, to be told they were closing at 5 (which we knew) and so they could only do coffees and cakes. I didn’t mind as we only wanted tea and scones, but for others who are expecting full kitchen service - beware you won’t get this towards the end of closing hours. Also beware that they will tell every single customer this for a whole hour, start wrapping up cakes in cling film from 4.30, and start sweeping the floor around you by 4.40. Honestly, if you close at 5 - close at 5 please. Don’t start preparing to close at 4 and make your paying customers - who are paying the same prices as those who came at 2pm - feel unwelcome by literally shutting up shop around them. Anyway - good tea and coffee. The scone was fine, not the best I’ve had. Far too big for a start, and the quantity of clotted cream for a scone that size was totally inadequate. Nice compote to go with it though. And before the business responds to say “oh you should have told us about the cream” - perhaps I would have, if the staff had not made it clear how desperate they were to go home! But really, the cream should be in proportion to the scone to begin with. Otherwise it’s just dry.

I came with my parents for lunch, we weren't after anything fancy and we are local so thought we would try here. I asked for 3 ham toasties and was told they were short staffed and weren't doing hot food. I had just seen a sandwich and bowl of chips come out so I changed my order to three ham sandwiches, (nice and easy). I could see a box of "made up cobs" in clingfilm, which the staff member ferreted through and handed over the counter to me. When I said I really wanted a sandwich, she said " so you want me to make a sandwich up for you", she then said she could make me a NUTELLA sandwich!. Basil Fawlty did spring to mind at this point and we soon left and went to forest nurseries cafe down the road which was a much better experience. I did later explain to my dad that nutella was very different to ham! On a positive note the cafe is in a good location.
