Visited here with a large family group to celebrate my mum and dad's anniversary. The entire team were really helpful when I was making the booking. Sometimes dining out in large groups can be a bit of a stress, especially as a number of our party have allergies and the staff were very responsive to our queries and our orders were managed and checked meticulously. The food here is knockout, top quality Sunday lunch with delicious ingredients cooked very well. Great wine list and absolutely perfect cask ales made for a memorable occasion. The pricing is extremely good value for the quality and the a la carte menu had lots of interesting, inventive dishes. Thanks to everyone at the Ashford Arms.

This is for the restaurant. Had a lovely meal here. It is part of a mini chain of quality pubs around Derbyshire. The menu is extensive and a little eccentric. Sometimes it felt like too many ingredients and ideas on the plate. But it was all freshly prepared and tasted good. Service is excellent. Where do they get their staff? We had a lovely relaxed lunch and look forward to returning Don’t forget to register your car at reception or you may be given a parking ticket.

Ate here twice in a week. Started with Sunday roast which was very good. Lamb was cooked to perfection. Then had a meal in the week. Three of us had the pie which was very good, a fish and chips and a pasta. All cooked very well and all enjoyed. Service is very good. Also had a few beers in the garden which is a great place to chill out after a walk.

A recently refurbished hotel in a lovely, peaceful village. Check-in was friendly & straightforward & our room very comfortable, but it turned out anything but quiet. We were in Dale End, at the working 'end' of the hotel, or so it seemed. At about 5pm, we were conscious of a constant banging/drumming noise, possibility an extractor fan, some machinery, something broken? When we went down to dinner at 7, we spoke to the lady on reception who suggested possibly the kitchen door opening & closing. NO WAY! She also said she'd investigate & get back to us. Nothing happened. Noise went on until about 10pm. Then, the next morning: something happening in external refrigerator unit, bins being moved or emptied then barrels unloaded. For a room with good, heavy curtains, we were awake at the crack of dawn & hence first to breakfast at 8am. No note was made of our complaint & it was not addressed when we checked out. Bad. Breakfast seems geared to external visitors, not guests, ie (priced) set plates, no cereals to start, just a full English, or pastry + granola + yogurt + fruit or other set collections. I like a little bit of cereal, then yogurt, some fruit, toast afterwards. Our waitress was very accommodating but it felt a bit awkward. Finally, has any thought been given to where guests can put 'stuff' in the bathroom? No shelf. We had to use the floor! Also, no room to turn around in the shower (& I'm really small)

Had 2 nights in this excellent inn. It is set in a picturesque village in the White Peak and has been recently renovated to a high standard. The room we had (Deepdale) was very well appointed and comfortable. A good uninterrupted nights sleep after traipsing the fells. Although the shower room was small, the shower was powerful and hot. All the room was cleaned to a high standard. We ate both nights and the food was superb. The menu had wholesome food, well cooked and decent portions. The bar has a good range of beers - much of the food and beer was sourced very locally. I cannot praise the staff highly enough! Very efficient, friendly and accomodating. Considering the quality of the offerings, the prices were reasonable too (compared to the rip off south of England). We will certainly stay again.

First visit to the newly refurbished establishment . Decoration and design have been undertaken to a high standard . Warm welcome upon arrival ( weather was conducive, so sat in the garden ) . Our server Rosie was friendly and attentive- drink were offered almost immediately along with menu. Chose small starters and a brisket burger for mains - all food was delicious and arrived in good time , albeit a little slow . Garden was well laid out , and during clement weather - is the ideal Location to enjoy food and drinks. Be aware : Register your car at Main Reception as soon as you arrive to avoid a parking ticket ( by what would appear to be quite a pernicious parking company looking at others comments ). Parking lot is very tight ( with only one way in, and out ) , and a little bumpy even at very low driving speeds . Worth a visit if passing to enjoy a relaxing drink and/or food . A slight niggle was the landscaping in the garden - looked very rushed and not very tidy . And did not really work with the Ashford Arms whole image .

Fantastic to see all the investment in this wonderful establishment. We have been four times and the atmosphere, surroundings and food is wonderful. Unfortunately, on all occasions, the service is slow and can be a little generic e.g. not personal. Our party of 6 were made to wait in the little foyer to be seated and staff were walking around us. The food takes a significant amount of time to arrive, which may have been due to how busy it was each time. We also have to keep looking out for servers to ask for more drinks, when they should be checking our glasses and asking us. It was going to be a four but with these issues on each visit, it knocked it down further. I think we should go when it is quieter!

A really fantastic Sunday lunch. The roast dinner was top quality (of course, with meat from Derbyshire's finest butchers at New Close Farm). The starters were also wonderful - I opted for the glazed pork belly with Gochujang sauce, which is one of the best dishes I have had in a long time. All washed down with a lovely bottle of wine. Service was great throughout and the decor was nice.

We had read about the Ashford Arms in the Guardian and booked a one night stay. The room and decor were lovely and the bar with open fire was perfect for an intimate pre-dinner drink (although go down early to get one of the seats by the fire). The food was gorgeous - we stayed for dinner and really enjoyed the breakfast the next morning. With stunning walks on the doorstep (we did a circular walk) this was the perfect place for a weekend getaway.

The refurbishment has been tastefully carried out creating quite a pleasant atmosphere. It was particularly busy for a Monday evening so that must be a good sign. Service and attention was excellent. The staff were extremely attentive and highly organised. Rosie was a star! The menu contained a good choice of foods to suit most tastes. My only disappointment was the fact that there seemed to be too many dogs allowed in the dining area with one barking from time to time. Prices for food are a tad too high for what you get on your plate. Would I return? Yes, probably for drinks rather than food. Most importantly the place is open, thriving and no longer a depressing building in the lovely village.

It's a bug bear of mine that a table in the bar has a lap top and a notepad for one person to work but nobody is there. A table that could accommodate 4 people has been put off limits. Further more when you come for a drink to relax the last thing you want to see is someone working on a laptop. I just can't see why staff can't do work in an office rather than take up a table for four patrons. Makes no sense to me.

I cannot rate the Ashford Arms highly enough, our room was cosy and beautifully decorated with the biggest bed I’ve ever slept on!! It was also immaculately clean. The little extras in the room -tea/coffee/biscuits, bottled water and robes were all lovely touches. The concierge (I wish I had taken his name) was so knowledgeable about the area and super helpful - he answered everything I asked him with ease and nothing seemed to much trouble in fact every member of staff we interacted with were really very friendly and helpful. The food was divine! It was the nicest Sunday Roast I have had in a long time - roast beef and all the trimmings cooked to perfection. The Desserts of Bakewell Pudding and Summer Berry Pavlova were equally scrumptious!! They also served food until 7.30pm which was great and meant I didn’t have to cut my day’s sightseeing short. Breakfast the following day was full of choice - my smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and my partner’s full English were delicious and set us up for a full day of exploring the stunning Peak District. 💯

I had high expectations for our two night stay, given mostly positive reviews. However, we had a really bad experience and won’t be returning. With very few photos available online, I booked a “junior suite” after phoning to enquire about the difference between a suite and a junior suite. I was informed that the only difference was that the suite had a bathtub in the bedroom, whereas the junior suite’s bathtub was in the bathroom. Upon entering the “junior suite” I initially thought they’d allocated us a standard room by mistake, as the room was a very small double, with nothing junior suite-ish about it?! There wasn’t anywhere to put our two cases (and no luggage racks), so we ended up having to put them on the floor and constantly clamber over them. The bathroom was large, unnecessarily so, which made us wonder why they didn’t make the room larger and the bathroom smaller? Also, the quality of the finishes in the bathroom was poor. I turned the sink tap on to have one of the knobs fall off in my hand. But the worst part of our stay was the noise! We hardly got any sleep because you could hear every single movement from the room above, plus the noise from the traffic outside was so loud. And both evenings (after 11pm) we had to go downstairs to ask them to turn the music off in the restaurant below because it was so loud in the bedroom. Apparently, this place has fairly recently been refurbished, so it’s amazing they didn’t consider the sound-proofing aspect, which is clearly none existent. For £250/night I was expecting a lot more. And I see the same room costs over £400/night later in the year??! I mean, they don’t even provide tissues! I was planning on giving my feedback upon checkout, but the member of staff dealing with us was obviously too busy to care to ask how our stay had been. My advice: come here for breakfast or a pint in the beer garden (the only positives about the place), but avoid staying here unless you have really good earplugs and low expectations.

There are lots of cafes in Ashbourne: some have a great menu, some have great service, some have great food and drinks, some have great prices. Only Tunnel Cafe has all these. I have been here a few times and in all honesty each visit is better than the last. Whole hearted 100% recommend

Food took a while to arrive. Then arrived separately! Mine was stone cold! Mentioned it to staff... didn't seem bothered!
