The Riverside Kiosk in Derbyshire Dales

We always go to the Riverside Kiosk when in Matlock Bath. We usually go during the day time and grab a coffee and sit down by the river. Last night we grabbed our drinks to watch the fireworks in Matlock Bath. Staff are always friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend.

Wonderful service and great food. Always like to come and see liz when she’s working. Always a pleasure visiting to see my good friend 😊

If you are looking for a very tasty bacon bap or other served by kind helpful local family business in lovely setting by the River (Derwent) here up the south end of town opposite the Fishpond Hotel and nearly at what looks like was an opera house. Now houses the Peak District Lead Mining Museum, then I can very much rec this local family cafe outlet at a fair price compared to others. The beverages are nothing to write home about, - if one is looking for a Caffe Nero level coffee eg ....but I have been very content with it, to go alongside the other 5+ star features of this great cafe and amicable local family staff team, with lovely river side seating in the sunshine: . Riverside Kiosk, Matlock Bath. And have been coming here daily on my stay for breakfast cuppa and delicious bacon bap with onions and mustard . Mmmm !!

Came here yesterday for a wander round Matlock. We fancied some lunch but didn’t want fish and chips which appeared to be quite a task! Found this little kiosk which was perfect. We had a hot dog, sausage sandwich (in a bread roll), a coffee and a can of coke and it came out at £12! Amazing! Over the road at the pub they were charging £8.50 for a flatbread with some cheese on it so I was delighted at that price. Seating is amazing, so quiet and by the water. Would definitely recommend if you’re wanting a quiet inexpensive lunch with a lovely view

The Riverside Kiosk always looks stunning whatever the weather. Right by the river Derwent and the waterfalls. Plenty of seating with umbrellas and they do THE best latte and breakfast rolls I’ve ever had. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit. You can sit and relax and watch people navigating how to row the boats on the river.

Easily one of the best bacon sausage egg baps I have ever had and with a lovely seat down by the river / waterfall. Perfect!!

Lovely setting next to the river however the coffee was undrinkable, like frothy milk with no coffee… disappointing as we went there due to good reviews on here.

Excellent food. Everything is freshly made to order. Great service from the staff especially the regular lady who serves us. Amazing views of the river and the rest of matlock bath. Perfect little cafe. Would highly recommend a visit!

One of the best burgers I have ever had for the only £6 with a great view whilst eating. 100% recommend to anyone going through Matlock.

We were after a quick hot sarnie in Matlock Bath last Sunday, and after struggling to get this in a couple of cafes (cakes/cold stuff only) we stumbled upon the kiosk! We got a banging breakfast bap each, complete with runny egg and served by 2 lovely chaps - it was just what we needed! In better weather it would also be a lovely spot to sit and eat with a view of the river. Thanks!

I work at the mining museum across the car park. I sometimes go to the kiosk to get some cheesy chips. Always a very generous portion with hearty covering of cheese. Cooked on order so nice and crispy. Would definitely recommend the chips

The wait for food was poor. I know it’s cooked to order, but two bacon and egg cobs shouldn’t take 25min! When it came the egg was like rubber and the bacon would have been less cooked if it had been sent to the crematorium. The coffee was ok though and the young lady in the kiosk was very pleasant. It’s a nice setting though and could be exceptionally good.

Such a beautiful place, view is incredible. Food was absolutely great, huge portions and really good quality. We definitely will come back

Great food, great coffee. Visiting The Riverside Kiosk was very definitely the right choice for breakfast. Friendly staff, good quality food, creamy coffee and value for money. Love the buzzer so you can enjoy the beautiful views and do not have to wait for your food to be prepared. Would recommend 100%.

Called and had a half pound cheeseburger and fries. It was the best burger and fries that I've had in a long long time. The burgers were from a local butcher and the fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Will definately be going back.

This little kiosk used to be a good place to grab a coffee and a quick snack, alas, not anymore. We visited matlock at the weekend (3rd of Sept '23) to get a coffee and a bit of breakfast for myself, we soon regretted my decision to get it from here. I had to wait over half an hour for them to make an Egg and Hashbrown bap! Half an hour! If the girl doing the cooking had gone any slower, she'd have stopped! The two other staff appeared to do very little, other than chat. I understand everything is made fresh to order, but restaurants do the same, and you wouldn't expect to wait half an hour for your food! With the parking restrictions now in place in Matlock, it meant I had to rush my food, which was good, but definitely not worth the wait, as we then had to leave to avoid getting a ticket. We will not be visiting again.

Nice spot overlooking the river. Ordered coffee here a few times and always been fine. I will always get a doggychino for my two dogs as well. The milkshakes on the other hand are awful. Just crusha syrup with added sugar.

I’ve been here a few times. The teenage girl staff are very friendly. The coffee is pretty awful (not barista made) but it’s the only place In town that opens early. However today the older woman (maybe owner) literally had an extensive conversation with a customer about sending ‘foreigners’ back to their own country and not wanting ‘them’ here. So from a political standpoint I will not be visiting again, as someone descended from immigrants on one side and who supports refugees, I won’t support a business where staff openly spout hatred.

Nice spot to sit at by the river and watch the ducks. I had a vegan ice cream and my partner had a coffee which he said was nice. Friendly service too!

There is no 0 zero to put as a rate. I ordered a double espresso and is was like a very poor americano full of water. The lit was covered with dust and the service was horrible. Would not recoment it to anybody. Will never come back here!

Great lunch. Food was delicious and has possibly one of the best views in town from the secluded seating area down by the river.

Such a good place to grab a nice hot drink or hot cob of some description. The food is really tasty and the prices are very reasonable. If you are in Matlock bath you will not be disappointed and in the summer they have a lovely view of the Derwent in the garden at the river side.

Our second visit on this week . Really looking forward to moving near here for day trips. This will be our food outlet here always Right on top of a river view. There are 4 park picnic tables behind kiosk, with plastic boards to sit on if its wet or snowy like today. The £5 Tea and bacon roll here is so good. Service with a smile. Just thanks loved it all

I can't rate the food as I only had a tea, it's a tiny place but works well.

We visited the Kiosk multiple times during our week stay in Matlock. We used Matlock as our 'base' for exploring the Peak District and we sampled their breakfast choices when grabbing an early meal and their lunch menus when returning from our days out. Although we didn't try every item on the menu, the chip butties and bacon cobs were our favourites (Best Bacon ever!). The outdoor seating is kept nice and clean and provides a nice view of the river. Duck food was on sale for a good price too so we fed the ducks/swans/seagulls! from their private dining area. Pupperchinos were also available! Food and dining aside, the real highlights of our visits were the staff.

The brekkie at the Kiosk was lovely. The lady running it was so welcoming, we returned to it again at the end of our family outing that day. Great coffee is a draw. She was also considerate enough to have a stack of plastic cards for visitors to sit on as the picnic benches were a bit wet that morning. At the end of the day, we had another drink there and met her lovely dog who turned up in time to charm us. Give it a try, it's well placed to be a meeting point when you're visiting with a family group who have different itineraries.

Lovely little place to stop for a coffee while walking around matlock bath

Easy to miss this little kiosk but it is worth the effort. Excellent location with a terrace next to the river. Tranquil place and a break from the hustle of Matlock Bath.

I've only recently found this place. It's now my absolute favourite for breakfast or lunch. I visit a couple of times a week. I'd come here everyday if work commitments allowed. I was initially drawn in by the riverside setting. I thought it looked like a pleasant place to sit and chill for a while, awsy ftom the Matlock Bath crowds. I have to say, I was not expecting the quality of food to be so good. If I'm honest, I was probably expecting your average burger van quality. It isn't that at all. I've no idea where they get their burgers and sausages from, but they are absolutely top notch. Really good quality, and cooked to order. Considering the quality of the ingredients used, the prices are more than reasonable. The biggest attraction for me are the tables by the river and cascade. It's only a small area, but I've always managed to get a table down there. The peace and tranquility is only ever interrupted by the ducks! I'd encourage anyone to look past the fish and chip shops for a change, and give this place a try. I'm glad I did.

The tea we had here was the worst cup of the I have had in all my 71 years the staff couldn’t care less it was like hot water it had not seen a tea bag

This place is worth a visit it has gone down a lot from last year it's not has good it's slow and my ADVICE is not to have a milkshake from there they made my daughter one she noticed it was warm but she drunk it then about a hour later she said I don't feel well she ended up on her knees in front of the toilet praying to the porcelain god

Great cafe good manners very sociable deafently visit again but one problem don't have a milk shake because they make it wrong my daughter was up all night ight on knees prayer to the porcelain god she took I'll one hour after drinking it

Nice little kiosk does plenty of food drinks etc outdoor seating with umbrellas. You can also walk down the steps and sit next to the river very relaxing.

Grabbed two coffees to take on our stroll around Matlock Bath. Great friendly and polite service and fab coffees. Excellent location. We will be back!

Had really bad experience in this place. We came over for a lunch on Father’s Day, I ordered beef burger and unfortunately my burger wasn’t cooked properly, raw meat inside. I came over to speak with manager and he said it’s looks cooked for him,...

Stopped for a light lunch while wandering around Matlock Bath. Coffee very nice; so was our food. Lovely seating overlooking the river. We watched rowing boats, geese and ducks on the river while we ate. Flowers and plants in abundance and water trickling down beside...

This is matlock at night very lovely place to visit and at the weekend you'll see lots off bikes visiting. Lots for the kids as well like the 2p machine and some sweets and ice cream shops as well. Plenty off places to park your car

A small Kiosk serving a surprising amount of products at prices that are very fair and Good value for money, It's great, in a safe off the road location with seating provided, call often!

We have only just moved to Matlock but have already been here a few times. The burgers are excellent, very tasty and amazing value. The service is also great with nice conversation Can see me making many trips here as can’t fault it.

I visited the kiosk at 7:30am, which is approximately 30 minutes after the time it is advertised to open (7am) and it was closed! I thought, fair enough, who wants breakfast at 7am (me). So, I returned at 11:30am thoroughly excited for my cob, and alas, it was still closed! Shall NOT be returning and highly recommend the fishpond across the road whom actually open when they advertise:)

We walked the promenade of Matlock and didn't want fish & chips (lots of choice!) and needed somewhere dog friendly. Riverside Kiosk is a wall from the car park but had plenty of outdoor space and food was very good.

Lovely little coffee kiosk by the river, open before 10am unlike most places in Matlock Bath. Offers a surprising range given its size, friendly staff and ideal spot by the river. Great value.

Very good food will b going there again next time I go and good value for money

My family and I sat down at the Kiosk and had what was probably the most disgusting and expensive instant coffee we all had in a long time. We all had different drinks and somehow... they all tasted the same. It was clearly powder coffee with a lot of hot water. The hot chocolate with supposedly Marshmallows and caramel had neither of those items (and yet, we paid full price), the cappuccino could have very well been a latte or any other coffee at a service station (only triple the price of a service station coffee). One the view was worth it. I do not recommend this place

We stopped on the way through matlock bath for a lunch stop. It looks like it's been smartened up, maybe changed hands. The burger was certainly more up market than previously with included salad. It was good, freshly prepared which meant it took quite a while to come. Not sure how they'll cope when it's busy.

A most impressive location with excellent service, nice meals and a pleasant setting beside the Derwent. The service was brisk and friendly and no one in our party had any complaints. Congratulations

Great little place, food etc. all reasonable priced and was very good, lovely small covered terrace right by the river, nice to watch the boats going up and down. The terrace also has a small stage, this was being used by musicians as part of Matlock Bath Music Event. (MBME). Nice and friendly staff who will serve you down on the terrace.

Such a great place for a bite to eat and today they have got live music on. Such amazing views of the River Derwent and a nice new seating area below a sun canopy. Such a great place for a quick bite to eat or a romantic look over the River Derwent watching the ducks.

Good food and drinks service with a smile

Service was unbelievably slow - 30 min wait for a bacon sandwich. Was nice when it finally arrived, but wasn't the quick stop we were expecting.

An excellent place to get a snack or burger from a locally sourced butcher.the drinks are great with fresh coffee and tea.

Called by a few times of late only open on one ocasion. Used to be such a good place, I wonder what has happened?
