We have been to Matlock many times but have only just found this lovely little cafe. My daughter and I called on this morning and sat outside, with her dog, overlooking the park. The coffee was lovely and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed the Bakewell tart. Pleasant staff. Will definitely be calling in again on our next visit to Matlock

Worth a stroll up steep St Johns Road to look at the lovely and diminutive Victorian Arts & Crafts style chapel (opens usually only for Heritage Open Days weekend in Sept) This cottage garden outdoor cafe is just opposite, hidden down a leafy drive. A peaceful green spot away from the bustle of Matlock Bath. Friendly welcome.

Excellent location and views. Maybe a steep hill to climb but worth the effort of course you can always use your car find a parking place. From the Tea Garden there are many lovely walks and the service and food at the Tea Garden is excellent. Quiet place to go to for a meal away from the hustle and bustle of Matlock and Matlock Bath.

+ Lovely location + Recieved warm welcome when arriving + Tea and scones were reasonably priced and delicious - Although you can’t see the road, you can still hear the vehicles. Very small price to pay for such a chill garden All and all highly recommend and will come again

I also found this whilst walking from Matlock and have returned again with hubby in tow. Having sampled the cheese scone a few weeks back (lovely) this time I had a very tasty soup. Hubby couldn't resist the date and walnut cake, as well as a cheese scone - very nice. Coffee is good quality as well and the position of the tea room is great. I will be back again soon to sample something else. .

Found this little place during a walk around Matlock. It started raining and we decided to head there for a warm drink. There is no inside seating just outside, but the views are great. Prices are decent too.

The most memorable places are those you just come across unexpectedly when needed. So it was on Saturday when we found the delightful Cottage Tea Garden just off St John's Road, above the A6, between Matlock and Matlock Bath during a hot country walk. The menu is more extensive than you might expect and includes vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Seating is outdoors and the garden is dog-friendly. Small children would need supervision. There was some traffic noise. Excellent food and service. We will definitely be back!

This is a superb small tea room with a relaxing and tranquil garden, friendly welcome and lovely menu of cakes and cream teas. Stumbled on this whilst scaling the heights of Abraham and will definitely come again.

Stumbled across this lovely tea garden perched on a quiet lane above the hustle and bustle of the town below. Tranquil and charming. Just what we needed after a good walk. Delicious cakes enjoyed with tea and coffee. Very welcoming host. Definitely recommended! (Lunches available too - will have to come back.)

It was a super hot day (80 degrees F) and we were hot and dusty trekking from High Tor across to the other side. Came across this hidden gem... what a lovely spot to sit in the shade and rest for a bit.

Lovely garden setting. We had lemon drizzle cake & strawberry jam cream tea - all very nicely presented. The owner was considerate & very friendly - a pleasant cafe experience after our long walk. There was a few things on the menu I would've like to try if we'd been hungrier - the quiche sounded nice, for example :)

What a lovely experience all round. As walkers, my girlfriend and I, thought this would be an ideal place to rest our legs. We were overwhelmed by the hospitality and can't recommend it enough. We sat down and were greeted by a lovely lady who made us feel very welcome and took our orders. We both chose the quiche of the day, a slice of cake and a hot drink. The camebert, cheddar and onion quiche was delicious and left us eager to try the cake which did not disappoint! Our coffee's were wonderful too, barista style as stated. So glad we came across this place and we'll definitely return.

I came across this wonderful garden in a wood , with log seats and tables, for a cup of coffee, and then had quiche and cake for lunch which was excellent and all homemade! The robins were hopping and flying about, bluebells and primroses, spring woodlands all around. Much more than a tea garden ! Its a wildlife haven on a public footpath

I visited this lovely tea garden with a walking group of 8 on a recent stay in Matlock Bath. It was raining heavily but we all managed to sit comfortably under a large parasol and enjoyed our drinks very much and the choice of teas and coffees exemplary.

I was on a lovely walk from Bonsall to High Tor, when I noticed the sign on St Johns Road to a tea garden. I was greeted by a lovely lady who made me and my husband very welcome. The homemade cakes are incredible, especially the marmalade cake which was the special of the day. There was a very good coffee selection!

Upon our visit we was pleasantly greeted by the owner. I opted for a delicious looking banana loaf which tasted even better than it looked which was washed down with a refreshing iced latte. We loved the minimalistic feel of the furniture which added to the experience of being in such beautiful surroundings with an abundance of wildlife to view and some friendly birds nipping down to say hello will defiantly be visiting again and very fairly priced

This was our second visit to Butter Fingers and both times have been brilliant! We were lucky to get a table as it is very popular. On our last visit they had sold out of their raspberry and white chocolate cake so I was delighted to see they had some on this visit. I certainly wasn’t disappointed! The cake was deliciously fresh and tasty and I had a Nutella milkshake too which was equally tasty. My partner had a pumpkin spice latte and a kinder blondie which he was very happy with too. We will be back! 😊
