This former hotel up a side-street near Brighton station is a dark horse, because The Edinburgh (or The Eddy to all familiar with it) has won not 1 but 2 Bravo awards, having been voted the best pub in Brighton 2 years running. The landlady Hatty tells me that she’s a bit of an old-school landlady, she even has a card system for curbing antisocial behaviour which she thinks has made the pub a far more pleasant place to come in her years in charge. That’s no mean feat considering The Eddy is predominantly a sports pub. There are 5 good sized screens throughout and it’s a source of pride that no matter where you sit you get a good view of a TV. Where The Eddy Brighton excels, and probably why the locals love it so much, is the unique events. Hatty and her sister Jess throw themselves into the production, Jess bringing her skills as a prop designer, and Hatty her hostessing, to create events to remember. Absolutely disgusting, nothing was edible, would put zero if possible. Kebab was pale, uncooked and soggy and for a weird reason covered in a slimy coleslaw which wasn’t stated in the menu. Salad was weird tasting, bland and dry along with being covered in that ghastly and sickly coleslaw. The chips were soggy, soft and DRENCHED in mayo. I also got peri chicken that was again, foul and unpalatable, tasted rubbish and couldn’t trust it after they messed up everything else. Only “good” things was the can of Fanta and the fact I ordered on Uber eats so didn’t have to leave my house.

Oh dear how this place has changed. Ordered a salad and a starter and after 30 mins asked at till, told be another 5 mins. 15 mins later our order was being offered to two other tables, food finally arrived no apology! Staff are all youngsters without any adult to control almost like they are doing you a favour by serving when they decide to. Three other tables asked for a refund due to the delay and lack of communication whilst we were there. Avoid plenty of better options nearby, such a shame used to be good.

Beware of this Coppa Club, I've visited a few times in the past month. Each visit I had included an unwelcome visit in my drink. I'm sure you can guess by the title of this review it was ants. I was appalled by this and thought it was just one those things the first time it happened but it seems every time I visit there are bloody ants in my drink. Not to mention the bullying between the servers & the extremely poor service as it would take nearly 25 minutes to receive drinks I expressed this to a manager and they just said we are about busy when the place was not even half full, probably due to the servers not concentrating on the job at hand as they're arguing with eachother and seem extremely stressed. I would not recommend anyone come here. Even the food was not cooked properly twice I've had to send back my steaks as they're overcooked. Please beware of this establishment if you're going to do a special event.

I can honestly say this was the worst experience I have ever had in terms of food and customer service. I attended on a Thursday evening in December with work colleagues for our Christmas party. We paid £40 a head so although I recognise the food limitations of large parties, I expected a certain standard for this price. Firstly the food. Starters were luke warm. You could stand a spoon up in my oily soup. Turkey was full of gristle. Cheesecake was a strange texture and inedible. Worse than that though, a vegetarian in our group was told then had run out of her pre ordered option. As an alternative she was given a plate of potatoes and carrots. They had no vegetarian gravy. Someone else in the group was a vegan and despite asking for options in advance, was not given a reply. What she was given on the night was really poor. We faked to speak to the manager. He declined initially. Eventually he agreed to talk to us but wouldn’t come to the table to see the problem. He names his event manager and blamed it on her. She wasn’t there to defend herself. He then blamed an agency chef. When my colleague said the experience did not make us want to stay and spend even more money to which he replied ‘bye then. You lot just want free drinks’. So rude. We stayed as there was nowhere else nearby to go. About 20 minutes from the end the waiting staff appeared with a few bottles of cheap wine. The waiting staff I have to say were polite and apologetic. I felt really sorry for them as their manager did nothing to support them. I will never set foot in that place again. It was so poor I was almost speechless. Worst food and customer service I have e we had. It was like fawlty towers.

Average food, crudités to share 2 very stingy pots of hummus between 4 people and a lot of heirloom carrots. Service was good but the food is just too overpriced. Excellent wine menu - of course. Beautiful planting out the front now all dying from lack of maintenance since the refurb.

Impromptu mid week lunch and so glad we went to The Fox. Excellent food and service with the added bonus of view out to sea. We chose Tapas, squid, chilli garlic prawns, cheese and ham croquettes and Serrano ham, fig and walnut bruschetta. Ordered mozzarella and garlic bread that was yummy too. Pudding, lemon posset with fruit. Can’t fault the food at all. Service with a smile. Really unexpected quality for the cost. Can’t recommend enough. 🦊 ❤️
