It was Fathers' Day and we were 7 people booked later in the afternoon. The table was ready on time, the choice on the menu was great, the service was impeccable and the food was tasty. Brilliantly done.

We just popped in for lunch and were shown to a table outside , we were given menus and that was it.......no one came to see if we wanted drinks , no one came at all, after about 20 minutes...maybe more we upped and left ! There was only one table of maybe 6 or 8 people occupied inside so they weren't exactly madly busy. I have to say though....the place seems really shabby. We usually go in the back way but today we passed through the bar area to get to the outside and the armchairs in the lounge area are badly ripped and torn. Not just a small snag they were in a poor way, very tatty and should be thrown away, This has upset me more because I recommended the Blue Boar to some American friends, who are staying at the beginning of next week.....I am going to see if I can get hold of them so that they can cancel.....this is so embarrassing. Welcome to England and Witney.

Booked the Blue Boar for my daughters 30th birthday party. The management and staff were amazing - nothing was too much trouble and they made the evening very special. We had over 60 family, friends, work colleagues attend the private room, which spilled out into the courtyard as it was such a warm evening. Our family of 12 dined in the restaurant before the party and the food was great, especially as they had two other large tables booked for the same time. Later in the evening they brought out their special pizzas, prepared in their special oven. We will return again soon to eat in restaurant as it was so good and such good value. Family also stayed in the hotel overnight and the rooms were super.

The Blue Boar offers lunch until 5 and I got the impression they didn't offer a full menu for dinner. I have bangers & mash and it was exactly as advertised. Very tasty. The staff were friendly but not pushy and had no issue with me ordering at 4:45.

The last three times I have visited the blue bore the disabled downstair toilet is disgusting. empty toilet rolls on the floor. It stunk. It's needs painting and tidying up. It really lets the place down, and why should disabled/any customers have to put with that.

We booked a meal with a stay overnight, room 5 is in need of some attention the carpet is dirty, the bathroom floor in the corners filthy. Tiles cracked in bathroom, shower controls with covers broken. Ceiling with bubbling paint and brown water marks. Apparently an upgraded room? The meal arrived my starter in fairness was lovely, my husbands meatball in his starter awful so over cooked and hard you could have bounced them across the room. Mains arrive and my chicken pie was nice, husbands Lebanese lamb again awful, chewy meat, in a bowl of watery rice and olives with pips still in them? All in all a terrible experience, such a shame as we have had a good meal here before and also stayed at a sister hotel in brill with amazing rooms that were spotless! Manager was floundering how to rectify as it was a pre paid deal with bar tab so a free bottle of wine etc was a nonsense when we had such a big tab. Eventually a refund was offered for the room deal but I was asked to pay for my meal despite the whole evening being ruined as my husband didn’t get one single edible plate of food. So disappointed!

We had dinner and stayed over in the family room. The room was comfortable and has air-con. A few small maintenance things could be improved, but the room was very clean and comfy. The food was the absolute star of the show. Dinner was fantastic for both adults and the kid, and the breakfast was equally delicious. Fully recommend.

We visited on a Sunday for a roast. The beef was very chewy but thats not even the crime, the worst part was the veg. 2 small roasted carrots and 9 green beans is not a Sunday Roast. There was no offer of any other veg to order extra so not sure if that’s an option but 2 tiny bits of veg on a Sunday roast for £20.50 plus 10% service was disappointing. Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes were very good. Won’t be returning for a roast though.

We sat in the bar enjoying chatting to our friends before we noticed we were late for our booking by 15 minutes. Thais was not a problem for the restaurant personnel who couldn’t have been more understanding. The staff were very attentive and extremely helpful. Service was prompt, food delicious and plentiful. The restaurant was a little noisy but not surprising given there were two large parties eating at the same time as us. This however did not cause any delay in service to other tables.

We had booked Christmas party in July, staff were very helpful in the booking process and empathetic that Christmas parties can be a nightmare to organise! We all preordered as requested. They allowed me to pay all up front to save any awkwardness with the bill on the night. Unfortunately one of the team couldn’t come and I contacted the blue boar to ask for there payment to be refunded as we had given enough notice to cancel the persons food order, the blue boar were happy with this but over 2 weeks since this request I still haven’t received the refund. Food was nice on the night but slow we’re still waiting for desserts at 10pm having sat down to eat at 19:30. But overall a nice evening which was enjoyed by all. Came to the end and bills to add up which was frustrating but staff were very helpful in sorting out the issue. Lovely restaurant which we shall return to again. But would be nice if someone could get in contact regarding the refund.

My parents and I stayed here for one night and had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. Both the food and the service were excellent. Between us we ordered the half chicken, a pizza, the vegan burger, a cookie dough dessert, coffees, cocktails and wines. We were all extremely happy with everything which tasted amazing with quality ingredients. Our waitress was lovely and very helpful, and service was very efficient despite the whole restaurant being full. It’s a little dark and loud in there but it’s better to have that atmosphere than no atmosphere. We paid for breakfast with the room which was great value, as you could order anything off the menu, help yourself to pastries, and order a very nice selection of coffees. Standard rooms are a little basic but have everything you need.

Our friends in Witney recommended the Blue Boar for great food, great atmosphere and it's handicap accessibility. There are three bit steps at the entrance, which my wife managed with a walker (I don't know how you could get in with a wheelchair). It seemed like a nice trendy restaurant, but was not too noisy on a Wednesday evening. My margarita pizza was excellent. I don't remember what my wife ordered, but she really enjoyed it. It was some sort of pasta dish. The restaurant faces a street that has been turned in to a pedestrian zone. But we had a U.S. handicapped placard so we were allowed to drive up the restaurant and park right in front. My only quip (being a picky American) was the big signage on the front of the building was not lit up at night, so we had to make three passes in the car before we could find it. But I would recommend this restaurant for visitors and I would go back there.

Disappointed to say the least. After viewing the room on the website I was expecting much better. We were placed in room 5. It's old, tatty, dirty windows and frame, it looked like it had never been cleaned. Someone else's tissues under the bed, shower smelt and had something in the trap that had no cover on it. The tea and coffee facilities were poor. 2 teabags and only 1 packet of biscuits. The main light didn't work and the lighting is poor. Plus note the breakfast was delicious and the waiting staff were lovely. We weren't asked if we had had a nice stay just paid and left. Thankfully I had changed my plans so only stayed 1 night after originally planning for 2 nights. Glad we didn't have to stay another night. I don't like writing negative reviews but felt it necessary as we were so disappointed.

Attended a family wedding on Saturday February 1st.The soup starter and the sweet were fine, however that is were it ends. The main course was marketed as chicken ragatoni. The three of us on our table that ordered it were unable to eat it. It consisted of a bowl of pasta tubes. 1 small piece of chicken as big as your thumb nail, three small pieces of chorizo all of which was burnt and over cooked. The three of us complained and non of us received an apology or any form of contact from the management. The princely sum for that meal was £25 per head. This was my first and last visit to this venue. Totally spoilt the day.

Me, my wife and some friends visited this place on a Saturday night. We all ended up having a stone baked pizza (around £13) - they were absolutely beautiful. Really fresh and doughy and the toppings were all spot on. For desert we had churros and a chocolate brownie - again, this couldn't be faulted (the brownie was around £6.50). The IPA was a bit warm if I was to nit pick, and the options on lagers were lacking a little. The drinks prices were as you'd expect, around £6 per pint. The main criticism was that service was quite slow but all-in-all we were never forgotten (it was a Saturday night after all). We were also put on a random round table that felt it was a bit misplaced (between a fireplace and a wall). Overall a nice night - we would visit again and would recommend.

Be very careful if you want to book their function room for a special occasion. Not sure how their booking system works but having secured the date with a £100 deposit 6 months in advance, we discovered we didn’t have a booking 7 weeks before the event. I’m not even sure when we would have found out had we not contacted them to discuss arrangements, they certainly hadn’t established their mistake and thought to enlighten us even though they’d taken two deposits (apparently). Family from out of town have booked accommodation, we’ve lost our venue and are left frantically trying to find another for the same date, what a mess! Feeling very upset and badly let down.

Having been on multiple occasions for brilliant meals, they were really in the christmas spirit and having recognised us donated some christmas crackers in our time of need (having forgotten them completely). Merry Christmas 💙

Booked a table of 8 for a Christmas family meal on Xmas Eve with 2 sets of elderly parents and a 5 year old. The first warning of things to come was the dead flowers left on the table and glass with lipstick stain on. Then the kids entertainment sheet was delivered and on following up after a few mins if there were any pencils when they arrived they were all blunted. Anyway- small things so far which you could ignore but then the manager took the drinks order and 2 of 8 were delivered wrong. Then, on asking if normal peas could be exchanged for mushy peas with fish and chips, the waitress disappeared for a few mins to come back and say she was just checking they still had fish and chips left (1400 booking). Orders were taken then 6 were delivered followed by the 7th 10 mins after and the last one 15 mins after the first 6m by which time everyone else was finishing of with no explanation by the waitress or manager as to why the timings were so wrong. Food itself was ok but by this time all of the party were truly out of the festive spirit and just wanted to leave. On commenting about all the events so far the manager took 40% off the bill but then on delivering the bill there was no record of the £80 deposit already paid and we would have ended up paying that on top as well if we hadn’t mentioned it! All in all an unpleasant experience and the whole experience a complete let down which for such an establishment that prides itself on service and standards. Christmas Eve continued then with an upset 5 year old and 2 sets of elderly parents angry about the whole experience. Blue Boar you really let yourself down and definitely gone downhill from our previous visits.

Very nice Pub/Hotel. Recently had a revamp so all foxy and fittings our new a clean. My room was at the front on the pub (room 2) so toward the end of the evening it was a little noisy which was a little annoying. Double bed was comfortable and I had a very good night sleep once I got to sleep. Shower was a good strength, bathroom was very clean.

Lovely hotel and restaurant and usually the food is very good. Today was an exception though. Our drinks came after 15 minutes and the food was in total 45 minutes. The reason for this was that there was one girl serving behind the bar (at lunch time) who was taking orders and serving drinks to the tables as well as making the tea and coffee. When our food was delivered to our table, the soup was cold and the pizza was misunderstood for pasta. Not happy, we asked for a refund. No apology was forthcoming, just a dead-pan face and an extremely miserable and moody member of staff. Unless customer service improves we will not be going there again!

We stayed for two nights at The Blue Boar. We had a very reasonable price, but the room was very basic. Nice, comfortable bed, quite good en suite, but nowhere much to put anything. No Drawers at all; a double wardrobe with only two coat hangers, and no hooks for coats.

I booked this restaurant for because their pizza looked and sounded delicious. Unfortunately when we got there they told us that they were not serving pizza. Disappointed, I settled for appetizers of hummus and olives and the sweet potato avocado salad which were good. The apple crumble was a nice dessert. The staff was very friendly. We sat in the bar area which has a nice atmosphere.

Me and my partner found The Blue Boar online and admired the menu. After being served three delicious dishes, Spicy Meatballs in a perfectly spiced tomato sauce, Falafel and a brilliant Pizza, My partner was served chicken which was burnt on the outside and completely raw in the centre. The waitress was very apologetic and offered to get us another one which we declined and asked for the Sea bass instead, The Sea Bass was average but better than raw chicken. After speaking to the manager all he had to say was that "you don't get ill through eating raw chicken now a days" and we had nothing to worry about. Comimg from a restaurant manager i find that comment completely despicable. We were still charged for the Sea Bass although it wasn't very appetizing after being served raw chicken. Such a shame after having three great dishes served to us.

No parking. Far too little parking nearby to be worthwhile. The ale in the bar was so cold that it had lost all flavour - undrinkable. The breakfast was good. The room was pleasing on the eye and was more than adequate for my needs. No lift makes for an awkward walk upstairs with heavy cases and makes it inaccessible for those who struggle on their legs.

My Husband and I have been to the Blue boar a few times, and the food is always excellent! This time we took our friends as it was one of friends' birthday. They have never been to the Blue Boar before and we all really loved the atmosphere. The restaurant was quiet, we chose where we wanted to sit! The waiting staff were lovely and really helped when I presented them with a surprise cake for my friend! (Singing was wonderful!) It's also really good value for money, for the quality of the food and drinks and service that you receive!

Hotel was nice, but a little expensive. No parking. Public parking at own risk and you had to search for a place and then may very well get a ticket for overnight parking. Restaurant was nice. bed was nice.

We did go on a week night but there wasn't any atmosphere - food was pretty good - pizzas freshly made and tasty enough though children less impressed. Not a cheap place to eat but worth trying.

booked to stay here for a weekend in the cotswolds, i requested for my dog to stay and was told flat out no, i had to return my dog home which was over a two hour round trip as we was already away. when i explained this the lady on the phone she wouldn’t help or pass onto management, she barely acknowledged the conversation at all - she claimed it was to do with allergies but when we turned up, to our surprise the hotel had 5 dogs running around in the reception area, sat on seats for people etc and we were asked “did you bring your dog along?” as if all was well? i was upset by this as we had just driven all the way home and back and we wouldn’t of minded but.. i was allowed to fuss every dog in sight inside the hotel and then go to my room.. where i then would of passed on fur/dog fluff. so the allergy reason was a bit of a rubbish excuse, we really was disappointed with the hypocrisy and it really ruined our weekend away if i’m honest. the room was adequate, a little dated but it seemed fitting to the countryside. the breakfast was fantastic, offered a veggie breakfast too which was honestly great. gentleman who served us breakfast was lovely. the area is very very quiet, expect to in bed by 9 if you’re not going to venture into witney, CN or oxford. taxis are 20-30£ one way out the town from here almost.
