Lovely and very personable staff who make you feel very welcome and if you ask about the history of the establishment they are more than willing to share with you the back story and historic photos. The food is fantastic. I recently sampled the Lebanese fries which were 10/10!!

Lovely bar and huge restaurant. Wide choice on menu and great with allergens. We had freshly cooked delicious food at reasonable prices and enjoyed it very much.

Came here with friends and had an enjoyable meal. The fish and chips is enormous. My cauliflower nourishing bowl was very good but could have done with more seasoning on the sweet potato. The mini desserts were quite big. The raspberru chocolate torte was lovely. Service with a smile too.

The pizza were ok but not very tasty they were hand made and put in a pizza fire oven but not very nice the pizza sauce needs to be sweet and salty not sure if I would go back quite expensive for what you get

This was my first visit to Journeyman, having driven past it a few times in Gerrards Cross. We opted to sit down for a Sunday lunch. Despite being given this menu, several items were off the menu. The service was very good and all courses were served in a timely manner.

We were a family party for 12, including adult children, celebrating a birthday. The second time we've done this. The space is interesting the atmosphere was good and the service was excellent - 12 starters arrived, hot where required, arrived together; and 12 main courses arrived together, not too soon but with no delay. The food was very good if basic pub fare, but ideal for our party - especially as gluten and lactose intolerances and vegan requirements were comfortably catered for. Recommended as an excellent alternative in an area quite well-served for restaurants.

Interesting space...huge and cavernous. Comfortable but not terribly "intimate", "warm" or "welcoming". Comfortable bar area but srvice is slow. Very boring menu - a great shame.. just standard pub chain fare. There are much better/more interesting places to eat in the area.

Happy to visit for the first time , table booking wasn’t essential as plenty of empty tables around but maybe it’s Monday evening .Very cheerful and helpful staff , very clean and tidy area.We decide to get some wooden oven pizzas it was great choice (can’t wait to come for the steak night ).Plenty of drinks to choose from ,a lot of very good quality wines(which I prefer) and very tasty cocktails .for dessert tiramisu and staters fried calamari .All very tasty . Our first visit to this nearly new restaurant on a cold night. There were few customers and few staff in this cold dim cavernous Art Deco room, partioned into bar and restaurant. The staff were pleasant and khelpful.The food was mediocre and presentation poor. The main lamb course looked unappetizing and was very greasy. The mussels were tasty. We decided not to have a dessert. The few customers present were very noisy. I understand this restaurant is popular amongst young clientele.

Fabulous food and staff would definitely recommend in the week when not so busy.Can be very busy at weekends not sure enough staff but food lovely and great atmosphere 👍

Our Second visit to The Journeyman in GX and it was almost as good as before. The art deco styling and décor, cleanliness, service, drinks and food were all very good, with decent large portions. We shared the large garlic flatbread with mozzarella topping between us and the small Fish & Chips was enough as a mains too. Only fault was that three of the dishes one of our friends wanted were all out of stock, which is not great at this time of year and perhaps needs a rethink on stocking up. It was a great experience and we will be back!

We dined for Christmas Day lunch with 4 of us, at first we were quite hesitant in booking given the reviews on here. But I am glad I paid no attention to them as we had an amazing meal and the service was brilliant! When we arrived we were greeted with a glass of fizz and shown to our table. From the minute we sat down the staff were so friendly and we didn’t have to ask for anything! We were constantly being checked on making sure everything was ok and our drinks were always topped up! The service wasn’t rushed, we took our time and just had the best Christmas Day lunch out! Thanks all for your hard work, we really appreciate it and will be back!

We went to this restaurant last Saturday overall experience not that great, we had to wait 50 minutes for our appetizers and then another 20 minutes for our mains. The food was quite good but its not worth the wait.

Good location but food is below average. Limited choice and not great quality. Unsettled stomach the next day - could be coincidence but I won't be going back.

We came for Sunday lunch, just a month after our last visit, and were bitterly disappointed both with the food and the attitude of senior staff. The servers 'on the floor' who seated us and brought our food and drinks were impeccably well mannered, but the woman we presumed to be a manager was not. The beef Sunday roast had sold out so two of us ordered the porchetta and one the vegetarian roast - but as the pie had been so unappetising last time we requested cauliflower cheese instead (cheaper for them!). We were told this was fine, but 20 minutes later were told there was no cauliflower cheese. The lady said there was no alternative so we should either pay the price of a vegetarian roast for a plate of vegetables, or have the pie. We asked if we could order something different but she refused, saying the plate was ready to be served. We took the pie. It was dry and inedible. The porchetta was also dry and with no gravy also inedible. We asked for some gravy and were asked 'why?', we said because it is dry and she shrugged, then brought gravy ten minutes later after we had again requested some. Nobody checked on us, and the woman who came to ask if we wanted desserts made it obvious she didn't want to be there, and basically rushed us out. We had been so impressed with his beautiful venue when it opened, and despite a few teething problems it has seemed a great place for family meals, drinks with friends, and Sunday lunches. But the slowness of service, quality of food, and attitude of management mean we will not be going back. The redeeming qualities are the young man and young last working in the restaurant who smiled, greeted us and said goodbye. They clearly work hard. As an aside, we had wanted to tip our waitress on the first visit with cash so she could keep what she had worked hard for, but were told it has to be on card - presumably so management can take a cut. Not impressed!

Excellent Sunday roast - beef and chicken - plus some good (possibly home made) ice cream. Service was friendly and professional. Good wine list - Rioja especially.

Regularly pop in for a few drinks and enjoy it. The staff are great and the customer service for me can't be faulted. Particular praise goes to Daisy, Colm, Liv and Frank who are always polite and courteous. Great asset to the area.

Hello, we came here for dinner. I had pizza and my pizza was probably 6/10. It was berry dry, had hardly any meat on and hardly any cheese. I wouldn’t have pizza again here if I came back. The service also seemed a bit slow.

We went here on Sunday for a pre-booked table and Sunday lunch with friends. Whoever redesigned and fitted-out this ex-M&S site did a great job. The *new* Art Deco style sits well in the high street in Gerrards Cross with cool lighting and the choice of warm mustard leather seating colours, warm wood furniture and floors and deco style lighting with cute plants really works well and gives a nice ambience. There is a large and well-stocked bar in front of the restaurant, serving locally made ales, which is also a nice touch. The large kitchen is open-style which is always good to see and adds more visual interest. Menu was expansive, with a very good range of different food choices, but we all opted for the roasts (slight shame all the specials were already gone by Sunday lunchtime but it was busy). Our starters (calamari & scotch egg) were both tasty and very well cooked. The roasts were equally lovely, served on large plates with generous portions of quality meats and vegetables and all very tasty. Service from the two waitresses who attended our table was excellent and attentive without being overly so and we were left to enjoy our table for 3hours+ Highly recommended and we will be going back - This is how to do a contemporary restaurant and bar!

This is a message to the management/owners. We've been to a number of your chain's restaurants and all very top notch and consistent. We were excited by the Journeyman coming to our village, but wow - what a shock. Meals were inedible. The huge Yorkshire puddings were old and piled up in a corner before serving. The chef must have got confused with the Pork and the Chicken as one was burned to a cinder and the other almost got off the plate and walked. The front of house staff, particularly the manageress, were excellent throughout though. very professional and reassured us that this will change. Excellent front of service let down by a head chef that probably cooked this all in his bedroom the night before taking the day off. It would take a public announcement of a complete kitchen reboot before we ever considered coming back. Sad days for what should have been a goto place.
