This is one of our favourite spots in Wallingford. Best breakfasts!! The pizza's are also really good. We have never been disappointed.

A few friends recommended this place, so we decided to give it a try. The experience started off well enough—we were seated quickly, and the restaurant wasn’t too busy. The seating was comfortable, and the coffee was decent, though nothing special. However, the meal itself left much to be desired. We ordered our food and ended up waiting nearly an hour for it to arrive. I understand that there was only one chef in the kitchen, which could explain the delay, but unfortunately, the quality of the food was disappointing. We ordered several poached eggs, and out of six, four were fully cooked through, including the yolk, which gave them an odd texture. The hash browns, although they didn’t look appetizing—they resembled a used sponge—actually tasted alright. However, paying £15 for a full English breakfast that looked and tasted like this felt excessive. We also tried the salmon avocado toast, but it was another letdown. The toast was burnt, and the avocado was stiff, clearly not ripe yet. Another aspect that could use improvement is the cleanliness and overall tidiness of the place. At one point, the waiter dropped a piece of cutlery on the floor and then placed it back on the table for customer use, which was concerning. In summary, while the restaurant has some positives, the food and attention to cleanliness need serious work. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend coming here for breakfast given our experience.

Atmosphere was great. My chips were yummy but the harissa chicken burger was ok (more a 6.5 out of 10). It would have been nicer hot (it felt more Luke warm) and maybe with a salad on the side.

Very tasty food but in my opinion overpriced for the size of portions. Good atmosphere and service. Pizzas were tasty!!

Great service and atmosphere and I had a great pizza and the kids meal for my son was spot on. However my partners chicken burger was £18.95 and was a very small serving, chips were over done and the burger wasn't very nice. Please improve the portion size and the burger or reduce the price as the quality and size was not worth that price.

We were fairly disappointed with our meals, the reviews on here are very positive but our mains weren't amazing. We had a salmon starter which was lovely but the picante chicken main was dry and burnt, garlic on the potato's was also burnt and distasteful. The pork main was meh, not what we expected from a £20 main The atmosphere and drinks were nice and our waitress was very accommodating.

Amazing meals, Sunday Roast is a must.

If you're in Wallingford, this is a great place for dinner. They're not doing anything revolutionary, but they're doing solid, classics really well. We had the peri peri chicken - powerfully spicy and really tastily done. The pizzas actually looked like good neapolitan pizzas. Super friendly staff, nice family atmosphere.

We were recommended this place for breakfast. The menu did not disappoint, plenty of choice. The food was tasty, if a little over priced. Lovely setting with an open plan kitchen.

It was a quiet midday so not much going on, however it was a friendly atmosphere. Used as both a restaurant and local pub. More upmarket than your average gastro pub.

Visited with my boyfriend for date and we were both a bit surprised how quickly the food and drinks have arrived. Food was very good, nice atmosphere, a lot of choice and a buzzing atmosphere

Came here on a Friday evening to treat my mum for dinner after being in London for a while. The food was amazing, nice and hot, all three courses were perfect and the drinks were couldn't have been better! The server, Thomas was very attentive, asking if all was well and if we needed anything else etc., even giving us some amazing drinks recommendations! All in all, a lovely place for a bite to eat or for drinks for a catch up with family or friends. Atmosphere is perfect! Really happy with my experience here and definitely will be returning again when I'm in the area again!

Ok to start the eve off here, but soon move on, drinks bit pricey. Would probably stay for a 2nd round if they had a mainstream lager.

Place looks lovely but the coke I order is mainly water with a hint of coke tast.

We only went in for a couple of drinks but great place in town to go. Could smell lots of lovely food and the staff were milling around keeping everyone very happy.

Really poor meal. Went for a family meal at the weekend. Ordered meat balls to start with. They were served to me cold, I had to spit them out. When I returned them, the kitchen reheated them and served me them again with the bits I had spat out and the waiter had already touched them. I had a bad stomach for 24 hours after the meal. I also thought the service was poor and it is not somewhere I will be returning to, which is a shame because it used to be good.

Place smells of cigarettes as you enter, so bit surprised. Loud music, noisy drunken old people constantly laughing, we could not hear each other. Chefs on their mobile phones, most of the time, in full view. £3.20 for a herbal tea,! but one of those cheap tea bags, so again very surprised, wish i took one of mine. £14.50 for a full english breakfast where you get those scrawny Richmond sausages ...bargain. Be warned. I had poached egg fungi but little did I know that an extra topping (salmon) would cost shy of £4 extra, making my breakfast £16. Wish they would manage expectations. £40.10 total for 2 people having a breakfast. Rip off.sorry. -----' Having just gone to a place with a view on the river, we could have paid 50% less and my partner could have had better quality sausages. Gutted. We really have learnt for next time.

One of the best Roasts I’ve had! Really great food.

Disappointed with the vegetarian burger option which was very tasty but completely ruined by the cheese which had the texture and adhesive properties of glue. Mix up and delay with the desert. I fairness we were given a discount on pointing out the issues but it kind of took away from the experience.

First time visiting, choice of food was okay I suppose, wine and beer again okay, service could have been better, prices are higher than I would have expected,

Lovely restaurant with a wide menu. I had olives followed by the Lebanese lamb shoulder which was delicious. Service was excellent despite the restaurant being busy. I would recommend.

Really busy the day we went but didn't wait long for food. Atmosphere was nice.

Overall, this should be a 5-star review, but there is something of concern I must raise. CCTV in the toilets. I have never seen or maybe noticed CCTV in toilets located in a public house before. The camera overlooks one of the urinals as well. (One of two, the other was out of order). There are no clear signs that I noticed. Surely, this should be brought to our attention by way of a large brightly lit sign. I asked a member of staff, and they commented that it was to monitor drug use. Whilst someone is using a urinal? Surely, people who use drugs in toilets use them in cubicle, should the cameras not be monitoring activities in the cubicles? I am not sure this is a complaint with GDPR. This is something I will look into and report the business if I suspect a data breach.

I visited The Old Post Office with three friends this evening. It's obviously very popular as it was very busy at the bar when we walked in, which added to the atmosphere. We were shown to our table quickly which we had booked in advance. Tables were nicely distanced from each other, staff were polite and friendly and service was good. We didn't have a long wait for food or drinks. The restaurant was clean and there was plenty to choose from on the menu. My pizza was one of the best pizzas I've had, absolutely delicious and very filling. The toilets were upstairs and clean. I would highly recommend this restaurant, we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and look forward to visiting again.

We had an amazing dinner by the fireplace. The Lebanese fries were fantastic!

Excellent service. But food came out immediately, so not freshly prepared for their Sunday roast. The beige chairs as you arrive look like you’re arriving in a 1980s nightclub. But apart from that it was okay. Excellent service.

Visited Wallingford with some friends. Lovely town. Found this amazing place. Perfect atmosphere, amazing service, they loved our friends dog. Food was 10 out of 10!! Delish!! Had a wood fired pizza and husband fish and chips… yum! Will be back.

Stopped for a drink on a cold wet evening Lovely and warm with a fire going and a nice bar area. After seeing some good looking food pass us on the way to the tables, we’ve now booked for dinner in a couple of weeks.

Lovely place, but way over priced. Been coming to the OPO for several years being a local lad that's moved away. Think it will be my last visit. Whilst being a popular place it's quite frankly massively over priced. While the drinks are reasonable, unless you indulge in an Espresso Martini at a tenner and containing barely any alcohol, the food is now at best worthy of half the priced charged. I really do not paying for good food and great service, but for example a Skotch egg starter, which was again a tenner but being half and egg on a bed of a few leaves is ridiculous. Likewise the shoulder of beef, consisted of a couple of spoonfuls of very lumpy mash, a single carrot cut into four and a lump of beef the size of a tennis ball, attached to a much larger lump of bone is again ludicrous. Very dissatisfied with it and really do not understand how they can justify the cost. Last visit for my family and will seek other places to eat during our family visits back home

Popped in for breakfast. Service was very good, friendly staff. Food came quickly and hot, and was very tasty. It would be nice to have the option of black pudding as it's my favourite.

While looking for the filming locations of "Midsomer Murders" and "Inspector Barnaby" we came across this lovingly designed restaurant in the old post office. The service is top. The portion of fish and chips was large and very good! Kudos to the young chef. Great restaurant, would come again!

Ordered x2 toasted Ciabatta sandwiches (x1 Aubergine & Crispy Artichoke + x1 Prosciutto Ham & Cheese). The Ciabatta was stale, the Aubergine came without any artichoke, and neither came with their accompanying side salad garnish. They also have the cheek to add a 10% service charge automatically (☹️). After complaining, we were given a partial discount 👍but, they gave a full refund onto my debit card and then took the new, reduced payment again. The refund is not immediate, so I've now paid for sub-standard food twice (until I get my refund in 3-5 working days)..... be wary!

Pretty also ran as an establishment. Friendly staff, good beer 🍺. Did not eat there but has a very extensive menu.

First visit to this restaurant, having previously stayed in the area and had heard good reviews which didn't disappoint. I ordered the sausage and mash followed by blueberry cheesecake for dessert, accompanied by rose' wine. Both meals were delicious ; my only comment would be that the main could've done with a more generous helping of gravy . However the side vegetables ( kale , peas and green beans) were tasty and the cheesecake superb Visited midweek just after the Bank Holiday. Service was friendly and efficient. Can't comment on parking as stayed nearby hence walked to the venue.

If you want a nice atmosphere with almost attentive staff and overpriced food, then an Oakman Inn is the place to visit.

I came to visit my daughter with my sister and although the service was good and the waiting staff with the dark curly hair was really lovely the food was extremely poor and overpriced. Very disappointed and will not be eating there again

In Wallingford on business. Decided to try The Old Post Office for evening meal. Ordered pizza margarita. Shame the chef couldn’t manage to get the tomato sauce spread evenly over the base. Told the waitress hoping the chef would at least come over to apologise , but nothing!! Not even from the manager Plenty of other pizza places in Wallingford, but what a shame!!

We had a great late lunch in the pub/ restaurant having failed to find anywhere else serving food late afternoon. Great choice of 3 well kept Ales and excellent menu choice including good vegan options. The staff were excellent. Second time we've eaten here and both times were most enjoyable

Lovely restaurant, delicious food and well presented. The atmosphere was good. The staff were extremely friendly and professional, ensuring we had everything we wanted. We were most impressed that they catered for dogs, supplying our small dog with a bowl of water and treats. We will definitely return.

I've just had the best pizza I've eaten in YEARS! The Old Post Office doesn't look much from the outside but the service is swift and friendly, the beer is good...and the pizza... wow...

We were a party of 6 and everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the Napoli Forte Pizza which was very tasty indeed. The atmosphere was nice if a little noisy due to the wooden floors. Service was very good. The Ukranian waitress was charming.

Vibe was good, service made several mistakes but apologized for them even before I had to say anything, so that was ok. Food was average. I love how they have on their menu what is gluten free, the main reason I choose the restaurant, but the quality wasn’t above average. The menu said some tomato’s and it had one, sliced in two. The rib eye medium was a little too far towards well done for my taste. It just didn’t deliver the value for money.

We visited the Old Post Office after hearing good things about the dinner menu. We were excited to try the breakfast. There are different price options for some dishes e.g. eggs Benedict. When we asked what these were we were told the 7.50 price was for one muffin, and the 11.00 was for two muffins. Thinking two muffins was a huge portion we all opted for one muffin. But..... When it came - it was only half a muffin! One egg, with really tasty hollandaise on half a muffin. Unless someone nicked the other half - and managed to do it off three plates, this definitely wasn't one muffin each. Bit of a shame that this was miscommunicated. We felt a bit done out of muffins really. Half a muffin was about 4 bites of breakfast. The hollandaise was really nice though so we made sure we mopped that all up. Coffees were lovely and pretty in their presentation. Clarity over portions is needed.

In the evening you can park in the Waitrose for free. Then it's a short walk down the alley to the Old Post Office. It's a huge place with an upbeat vibe. The food is pretty good. I had half a charcoal roast chicken which was excellent. They only had my third choice of desert which was disappointing, I nevertheless the chocolate brownie was very tasty.

In general, it's nothing special but was pleasant enough with reasonable food. The initial contact with staff was quite basic, with no real effort, very much, there's your table, menus and someone will be with you to take your order. When I went up to the bar, the person behind the bar I felt was more interested in something else other than even acknowledging me whilst I waited; I will add I was the only person at the bar and the restraunt only had four tables with people at, so they clearly were not busy. Courtesy and acknowledgements go a long way. However, the waitress was very friendly and did her best, especially when one of the group asked about allergy information. Some of which they couldn't answer as it was with regards to ingredients used in a product that they buy in. I felt the prices were quite high for what we had, especially compared to other equivalent eateries. Some of which i'd rate far higher, and for that, I personally won't be returning, as what we got didn't justify the prices. However, I would recommend it if you're short on options and don't mind paying higher prices.

Looks like a wetherspoons but about 10 times the price! £6.80 for a pint of orange juice and soda water, so for essentially half a pint of orange juice! Barman more interested in chatting up young women than serving customers.

Food was fine, service was very unfriendly. Here they charge 10% service costs, but the service did not deserve that. Food was good but the waitress and manager should learn to be more friendly to the customers and deserve there 10% service charge.

We came here due to decent reviews and with what was open on a bank holiday and was also not a chain pub like “Green King”. We sat outside in the sun which was lovely. You order at the bar and pay in advanced, all the staff were friendly and attentive. We had a chicken in harissa flavouring and mushroom pasta. (They had ran out of the pasta dish I initially wanted). The chicken was excellent, the mushroom pasta was a bit bland and this was a rare occasion where I left some of it. The ice tea was okay although on the sugary side.

Enjoyed my time here. Extra points for serving food on a Bank Monday when all places around had their kitchens closed

Group of us went 8 in all. Spent £250. Would not go again, very expensive for what you got. Portions were tiny especially pasta dishes and desert. Felt ripped off.

4 of us eat here, I order the pork main with kale, carrots, mash, it was the worst meal i had every eaten in a restaurant It came with Green Beans, overcooked and discoloured, overcooked mushy kale, lumpy potatoes and dry pork, and thick puree like gravy If I hadn't been with friends, whose treat it was, it would have gone straight back, I tried to eat it but couldn't My friends burgers where brunt, and the bun dry, Waiter was very friendly Kitchen looked large and well equipped 3 chefs, but why turn out food so bad
