The best restaurants serving Japanese food in Anderston / City Glasgow City Glasgow and Surrounding

I recently visited Nuku Nuku with my wife, and unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to our expectations. While I’ll speak primarily for myself, it’s fair to say that neither of us enjoyed our visit. From the moment we arrived, the service felt rushed and inattentive. It seemed like a delivery was being handled at the same time we were trying to place our order, and I got the impression the staff were more focused on that than on us as customers. I was trying to get a feel for the menu and asked the hostess a few questions, but it felt like I was being hurried along rather than helped. I ordered one of the set meals, which came with a few different items. Unfortunately, everything I received was overly oily — to the point where it overwhelmed any potential flavour the dishes might have had. I left feeling unsatisfied and a bit disappointed, especially considering I was genuinely excited to try the place. First impressions matter, and sadly, Nuku Nuku just didn’t make a good one for me. I hope this was just an off day for them, but based on this experience, I’m not in a rush to return.

El interior es más de estilo café que restaurante elegante, aunque sí tienen licencia de alcohol. El inconveniente es que puede ser ruidoso, solo charla fuerte de otros comensales! Hay habitaciones privadas y de karaoke arriba, los baños están arriba, no vi un inodoro para discapacitados, pero podría haber uno en el nivel del suelo. El personal es amable, el servicio es rápido. El menú es auténtico japonés, he viajado por Japón un par de veces. Hay numerosos platos con un montón de opciones, incluyendo vegano y vegetariano. Los otros platos asiáticos del SE también son auténticos, han viajado por allí. Las porciones son de un tamaño generoso y los precios son muy buenos. Todos disfrutamos de nuestra comida y probablemente volveríamos. Me gustó la variedad de tés, habría tomado el helado matcha pero estaban fuera de ella.

Disappointing meal to be honest. The sashimi was nice, but the miso soup was not great and neither was the agedashi tofu or the rest of the food. Don’t get me wrong, it was fine in parts (ie acceptable). But I didn’t leave feeling good and I won’t return. The mayo seemed thick like it was out of a cheap bottle, the beef texture was not pleasant, the speciality dragon roll was not great. The American server was also quite clueless, we asked about whether a bowl was from and she just said ‘don’t ask me’ and that was her approach to any questions. The setting and crockery is beautiful. But sadly, the food just wasn’t anywhere near the standard of sushi and Japanese that we had in Edinburgh. I wanted to love this place, but it just wasn’t for me. This was a disappointing (expensive) meal, sadly.

He estado en Byres Road un par de veces y me gustaría ir todos los días si pudiera! La comida es increíble, el personal es una delicia y la experiencia general en el restaurante es fabulosa. Sin embargo, los baños son asquerosos. Realmente necesitas arreglarlos. Son sucios, desordenados y siempre huelen. Nos alejará a mí y a mis amigos de regresar.

We got the latte with oat milk and gingerbread syrup, and the matcha latte with oat milk. Both were good and just right on the sweetness scale for both. We don't like super sweet drinks. The decor is really cute. Definitely set up for social media selfies/ussies.

Reasonable food the reason for rating is that it is overpriced and they also stuck a £40 service charge on the bill

Nos encontramos con este encantador restaurante japonés mientras estábamos en Glasgow para el concierto de The Ghost en The Hydro. No teníamos una reserva, pero la camarera se las arregló para apretarnos en . El servicio era excelente y la comida y bebidas recién cocinadas servidas muy rápidamente. Ambos elegimos un plato de curry Katsu con arroz, que eran porciones muy generosas y deliciosas. También un pequeño entrante de sopa. La comida estaba a un precio razonable también. El pequeño restaurante estaba lleno y obviamente muy popular.

Dropped on for a quick dinner after a long road trip. Had Katsu which was excellent with well cooked, moist chicken and soft fluffy rice. Not much atmosphere, but it was a quiet evening and it's a small place. Guy next to me was having a large bowl of Miso soup which looked and smelled fantastic. Almost made me regret my choice. Well worth a visit if you're in Glasgow.

Managed to go back twice for the food!

Enjoyed the food, However, when calling back to discuss being overcharged. I was told The automatically add a service charge , I simply questioned if this was normal for Two people. I then got a long story about someone washing the dishes people preparing my food, making me drinks. (To me, this is just running a restaurant ) The person on the phone was then trying to guilt trip me asking if I wanted my money back I can come in and they can take it out of the tip jar. Kept asking me questions on the phone to simply talk over me . When asking for person’s name, she hung up on me .

Absolutamente fantástico ramen! Increíbles gyozas y el servicio fue tan rápido! El personal encantador y servicial tomó una Coca-Cola que se derramó directamente de nuestra factura. La anfitriona era encantadora y bromeó cuando nos fuimos. Sin duda un ambiente acogedor, amable y acogedor. Nuestro único problema era salir por la puerta que estábamos tan llenos! Well looked after by our waitresses. Food very decent and the boozy brunch not bad value for money.
