The best restaurants serving Italian food in England

Had been recommended this Italian by a local for a family birthday. Greeted warmly by restaurant staff, water on arrival, attentive service. Unfortunately we were next to a table that various suited/booted parents dropped 9 of their free-range charges with a handful of timid 'grown-ups' whilst en route to the Club, I suspect. Food was excellent, the staff was amazing dodging these young teenagers leaving chairs untucked in the staff's wake whilst they slammed toilet doors, daring each other to run in the kitchen and generally getting under people's feet. When they did sit down, volume control was clearly not in their gifts. Thought the restaurant staff did an excellent job at trying to make our meal an enjoyable experience despite the crèche like conditions other diners had developed. Would definitely go back but perhaps on a school night when hopefully these youths are not there. The restaurant was far from a let down but the locals certainly were.

What a little gem……my wife and I were in Hexham for the day and called in for lunch, great food and service. Will definitely make the effort to call again.

The most authentic Italian food I've eaten in a long time. Served in a relaxed style, very generous portions and great tasting desserts.

Visited La Bocca on the 6th August while I was on Holiday in Cornwall from Manchester...... I had a wonderful evening with some excellent Food that was absolutely delicious, and in a restaurant with great standards and friendly staff that were extremely helpful.....La Bocca has very much become one of my favourite restaurant's and I ensure that I will be visiting again sometime in future when I am next in Cornwall thank you very much once again La Bocca

Very busy Saturday night but staff were great, helpful and friendly. Food came out quickly. Lovely deep fried potato skins as starter and then one of the best calzones I've had. My wife really enjoyed her spagbol

No lo han sido durante veinte años. La comida sigue siendo absolutamente brillante. Sardinas seguidas de pan de ajo y lasaña de queso y una ensalada más una gran botella de vino. Qué noche fantástica. No esperaré 20 años para ir de nuevo.

We ordered two meals to be picked up and they were ready on time , very hot and most enjoyed. We have never done this before.

This was one of the more bizarre visits I have had to a restaurant in many years. Spectacularly diabolical!!! The waiter was nice enough but they were out of half of the already tiny list of dishes on offer. It was like “spam, spam or parmigian”! My mate got some gnocchi straight from the supermarket with some cheese only food stamps would buy (the waiter was nice enough to refund this inedible effort). My order of vitello alla Milanese with patate arroste was a big flat lump of breaded meat from a packet complete with... oven chips!! The whole time we had to listen to some bizarre argument in Spanish and Italian between the cook and the waiter. The subject seemed to be how much the former was being paid- he’s been very fortunate to have ever been paid, from what I can see!!

Came here to try out the ice cream. Had vegan chocolate, absolutely delicious. Nice that there was seating and the staff were super friendly. Would definitely go back to try other flavours.

La comida era muy agradable y el personal servicial Y muy acogedor Para un pequeño café cerca del palacio y no cobrar por encima de las probabilidades realmente vale la pena una visita.

Pizza is always great, love the atmosphere at this venue, such a great space. Ideal for a quick bite on the way home from work. All the staff are super friendly, special thanks to Salvo the last time we visited.

So pleased that we found this little gem in TW. The outside does not do justice to the authentic high quality food this little family restaurant provides. Lovely, friendly owners who are delighted to talk about their food and history. Its very small so probably need to book for dinner. Give it a try.
