Best ribs I've ever had followed by a fabulous lasagne. My hubby had the calzone, beautiful dough and packed with filling. Would be a regular patron if we lived closer. Mario is a wonderful host and his staff are brilliant, friendly attentive and not at all pushy but watchful for when you need another drink

I was so looking forward to authentic Italian food. The aroma when we entered was great, very Italian, very garlicky. My starter of meatballs in tomato sauce was very bland, no taste of herbs in the meatballs and not a hint of seasoning in the sauce. I ordered Stilton tagliatelle and again very bland, just tasted of cream. I can cook better myself and won’t be going back, very sad.

Food was mediocre at best not been for 20 years can remember why now will not be going again. There were 10 of us and no one enjoyed the food and we all had different items. Service was very slow at times and it was half empty.

This place was an excellent find. The food was lovely (we had pizza and the chicken stroganoff) and Mario is a very entertaining host. If you are looking for an Italian in the Barnoldswick area, I would strongly recommend.

Literally saw this restaurant as we passed and decided to try it. First impression was a little ropey with a moody looking waitress and a stereotypical loud super Italian owner shouting at the kitchen staff but the waitress then warmed up, the owner grew on us and the food was excellent 👌

We have tried Marios several times, mainly as our friends like it, for some reason. We have tried many different meals, but always feel disappointed and wishing we had gone somewhere else. Nobody loves Mario more than Mario himself, even on people's birthdays, he must be the centre of attention. To top it off, it's always way more expensive than any other, much better restaurants in the area.

Scrumptious authentic Italian food, attentive staff who go the extra mile to ensure special occasions are truly exceptional. Every meal that was delivered was delicious , piping hot , service impeccable. Well done Francesca and team who work hard to deliver consistent high standards. It's not surprising the place is busy, the atmosphere is vibrant.

This place is superb! - From the ever exuberant Mario to a clean, tidy restaurant to brilliant service, staff and of course great food - Always willing to cater for you're needs or suggestions and both great to sit in for the atmosphere or take away to get great food at home. If you're in the Barnoldswick area and like Italian food then this is the place to visit.

Went with a group of friends for a special Birthday celebration, very friendly staff, delicious meal and it’s a special price on Mondays… starter, main meal and a coffee £26….. we all enjoyed our meals.

Small place and when we visited it was extremely busy with large groups celebrating events. We booked for 7.30 but it was well after 8pm when we were seated at our table. We were placed in the bar area until a table came free and our order was taken while we waited.. Given the noise it was difficult to have a conversation until after the large groups left. The food was really nice and the staff were friendly and helpful. Would definately visit again

Went purely by chance after picking something up from Barnoldswick last night, we didn’t have a reservation but Mario found us a table. The restaurant, food, atmosphere and all the staff and owner Mario was excellent. We had pizza and fries and they were great. It looked busy but Mario said it was actually quiet, so obviously you’re doing everything right so keep it up and if we’re in the area again we will definitely be back. Recently moved to the area and had Mario's once or twice but today ordered for other family members that were visiting and can't say anything but "thank you" to Mario and staff for the quality food. We all had different mains and they were brilliant and helped to finished off a great weekend - We are just 'around the corner' and to say we will 'be back' is an understament moving forward. We just visited for a takeout, and wow the pizzas we ordered were out of this world. We did wait a while but the place was packed which for me is a really good indication of how good the food is. I noticed Mario did his best to accommodate people who didn’t book and never turned them away. The prices charged for the food are very fair, you expect to wait for a table if you go to somewhere that serves good food and great service. Not a place I choose to go to but I thought I would give Mario's another chance NOT a good experience all due to the Owner Mario.

We came here on Saturday night to celebrate my husbands birthday. Our table was booked for 7pm but when we arrived we had to wait nearly half an hour to be seated. The waiter came and apologised for the delay. The restaurant was full and unfortunately there were only 3 staff on. They did work very very hard to try and look after everyone. The food was nice and the sticky toffee pudding was delicious. It took nearly 2 hours from going in to coming out which is a little bit too long but like I said the staff did work hard. Would come back hopefully it will be less busy.

This place is one of a kind. The service is full of personality and friendly. Mario and his team make sure it's a very memorable experience. The food is wholesale and filling and many choices are available on the menu. We'll definitely return for one of the birthday specials. Mario and the team get the whole restaurant singing while playing on the tambourine. An experience not to be missed.

Visited here on 16/09/20 at 17:30 took a 1/4 mile walk from the town centre to find the gates locked and the place in darkness, there was also no menu or opening times in the allotted space outside.

Staying nearby at Ribblesdale lodges we came across Marios online and decided to book a table - i am so glad we did.From the moment we arrived we knew it would be good by how busy it was. The waitress showed us to our table and took a drink order.Mario himself wasnt far behind introducing himself and chatting to us - mario is extremely friendly and chatty and made us laugh. It is so refreshing to see an owner take such pride over his guests and something other restaurant owners should take heed of. Mario checked on us a few times throughout the evening and offered us a complimentry shot at the end of our meal, we politely declined due to driving however it was most appreciated.For starters my partner opted for BBQ spare ribs which he enjoyed and the meat just fell off the bone. I had mozerella in breadcrubs with tomato sauce. Both were enjoyable and the portions were so big we had to leave a little to make room for the mains I had sirloin steak with a creamy garlic mushroom sauce and my other half had fillett steak with diane sauce. Both served with potatoes and fresh vegetables.My partner finished his and then a little of mine as the portions for mains were also huge.£81 in total for food and drinks including a large garlic bread! Absolute steal given the fact we both had steaks which must of been 10-12oz.I only wished we lived closer so we could be regular diners but when we next visit the area we will certainly be back.Thanl you mario and your team for making us so welcome and giving us a 5* dining experience that we wont forget.

Fabulous, authentic italian food. An excellent, well organised team under Marios excellent guidance. Great atmosphere, nothing is too much trouble. Every taste is catered for, service throughout our stay was first class. Nothing negative to say about this gem of a place in Barnoldswick. If you're lucky you can park right outside the front entrance. Ideal for any size group.

This is a lively, fun and welcoming restaurant. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food and wine is good and reasonably priced (£90 for 3 of us with starter, main, beers, wine and tip). Would certainly recommend.

We were taking part in the first kite festival in Barnoldswick and went to Marios on the Saturday evening, so glad we did the food and the service was excellent, it was so good we booked to go again on the Sunday evening. Everything was perfect, would recommend to anyone.

This is our 3rd visit to Marios and it’s just as good every time. The food is great with lots of choices and the service is second to none. No matter what the occasion, the staff go the extra mile to make it special.

There were 7 of us including a toddler and we ate here on a Saturday night. I had deep fried brie to start which was delicious and then veal in marsala sauce which was excellent. All the other food we ordered was confirmed to be fantastic and the prices were very reasonable. Great service and very friendly staff!

We have been twice in recent weeks once with a group of 11 and another with 6 and a baby. Both times the food and service were excellent. The Wines are super and very reasonable too. We will be back regularly.

Why am I really really annoyed you ask?

The restaurant is always very busy so you need to book in advance. Lots of people have their family parties there so it gets very noisy at times! Everybody there joins in to sing happy birthday which seems to go on forever at times so not suitable for a romantic outing.

Sadly this restaurant didn’t have the ambience and quite a few birthdays on the evening we were there our first visit and the happy birthday record was loud and cut short each time.

We made a spur of the moment trip to my childhood home of Barnoldswick, staying at The Old Stone Trough Hotel, although we usually eat at the hotel as the food is very good, I decided to go upmarket and take my wife to Mario’s Italian Restaurant in Barlick, the food was excellent and the service and friendliness of the staff was second to none, I recommend this restaurant and will definitely visit again.

Went for our tea myself Diane,partner Peter David and Anne carson we got in at 6 pm and were made very welcome as usual the service and the food was excellent it was busy but we didn't have to wait long always a good meal

Absolutely brilliant and coming from the Manchester area, where we have a vast number of Italian restaurants, many of which we have tried, to discover this gem was a great delight. The food was excellent, and the whole ambience of this family-run business was of the highest order. Mario, himself, could not have been more friendly, and the whole experience means that another visit is needed soon!

Myself and co went to marios for my niece who’s birthday it was. The issues what was commented on the same night was my meal , however it was not an issue or a complaint it was a misunderstanding of heat. A lady from the group decided to take it upon herself to call mario over and speak for me , which was not needed I had already spoke to mario who was fine with what I had said . I didn’t pay for my meal and was offered a free drink which mario didn’t have to do . I believe a couple of the ladies were rude to mario for no reason . Mario has been in contact with me and my niece very upset and apologetic. I’m not sure how the person and her partner had their night ruined as it didn’t ruin mine and it was my meal. I thank mario for all he has done and it wouldn’t stop me going for a meal again

I had my birthday meal here and the food was spectacular ..there was a small misunderstanding but mario has done his Upmost to make sure I was happy with my meal and the evening and even gave me a very kind gesture to enjoy on my next visit ...thanks for contacting me and being so kind ..

Myself and my husband were sat having a meal at the weekend and we were shocked about the owners unprofessional, rude and aggressive approach to a customer who gave feedback about a meal that wasn't correct. He verbally abused a group of women who only brought an issue to his attention. Not impressed and this ruined our night.

Food not as good as it used to be. Entertainment can be enjoyable. Staff nice and friendly. Value for money on promotion nights. Drinks available but expensive. More filling on the pizzas needed. Nice place but a bit out of the way of town,if walking.

We visited for the first time this week and was pleasantly surprised by this place. The drinks and food are very reasonably priced. I like the fact that wine can be purchased by the glass, bottle 1l or 1/2l carafe like in rural Italy. The staff are very friendly and food was very tasty. The atmosphere is lovely and reminds me of Italy. I would definitely return. The only thing that could improve the experience is comfier dining chairs - we felt they were too upright and everyone kept leaning on the table as a result. I would have stayed longer and maybe ordered another drink if they were comfier. The red long seat in the waiting area near the bar needs recovering too - it looks a bit tired and well worn.

I went with four friends and they managed to accommodate my many allergies with no hassle whatsoever. They also managed to cook my steak exactly how I wanted it. Marvellous

As ever the food was fantastic staff are great very friendly , we love this place and have been several times before and will certainly keep going back , very reasonabley priced but absolutely top quality. Un grupo de nosotros fuimos a cenar un sábado por la noche, nuestra mesa era para las 9:00 pm pero no comer hasta justo después de las 10:00 pm. El ambiente era muy fuerte, y también cuando fuimos a pedir nuestros postres helados dieron a los niños, pero los adultos era, ni siquiera preguntó si querían algo. Mi amigo pedidos café irlandés e incluso logrado esta.

Came here for my dad's big birthday. There were twelve of us! Couldn't of asked any more! We were all really well looked after! Service was spot on! And the food - as usual to die for! We haven't been here for a while for our little get togethers, so it was a nice change. It was very quiet to start with as we were the only table for about an hour. However it was only 5.30pm when we met up there. Mario was his usual affable self and the atmosphere was good despite it being quiet - we weren't quiet I hasten to add! Once other people started arriving it soon filled up. Most of our group ordered from the 2 course menu and all enjoyed what they had. I had one of the specials from the board: chicken breast fillets stuffed with spinach with a very light creamy sauce and vegetables. It was absolutely delicious, and very filling! All in all We had a lovely evening.

Just returned from holiday and wanted to eat out. Went to Mario's. As usual the food was excellent. The host and staff so welcoming and friendly. All at a good price.

Mari's is a restaurant where you can enjoy authentic Italian cuisine. The menu choices are fantastic with something for the most decerning foodie. It is usual to compliment staff when you've had a good service. But the staff at Mario's are exceptional. Absolutely fabulous meal for 15 at Mario's. A warm welcome and prompt attention from the staff. After drinks in the bar we were seated and served our starters. Scrumptious variety of pizzas enjoyed by the whole party. All the mains arrived piping hot beautifully presented and generous portion sizes. Staff were attentive nothing was too much trouble, going the extra mile to ensure everybody really enjoyed themselves. We were particularly touched by the music and staff involvement in delivering flowers , cake and balloons to the diamond wedding couple. First class authentic Italian food with a buzzing atmosphere.

Booked a table for 8.30pm, arrived at 8.25, no warm welcome as we walked in, bar area very small and congested. Waited 30 minutes before our order was taken then after a further 15 minutes we were still sat there waiting to be shown to a table, even though there seemed to be plenty of empty ones. People were coming in after us and being shown to their table before us so obviously giving priority to regulars, while we were just left there till the last feeling like spare parts with no apology as such and no explanation as to why we were waiting so long. Never ever had to wait that length of time for a meal, especially when the table's been booked, it's not like we just walked in on the off chance, could've understood it then. The owner was very loud, and pretentious and the small, sour faced woman behind the bar does the restaurant no favours whatsoever! Didn't end up sampling the food as we got fed up of waiting and walked out but if their food is anything like their customer service then pretty glad we did, probably had a narrow escape really. Worst restaurant ever been in for customer service and would not recommend to any one!

Traveled from Ilkley just to visit this restaurant.. We have had great meals here, before we moved but still come back. Well worth the journey

I can't say enough how much of a gem this place is! It really is fantastic, and I say it over and over again the fillet steak is the best for miles and miles. I had stuffed pepper to start which was amazingly tasty! And then med-rare fillet steak with Dolce latte sauce! It was absolutely perfect! Total heaven! We all got steak, all cooked differently and every single one was too on! Mario and staff are brilliant as well! Top service and very welcoming! Definitely recommend! Love it!

I went for an early evening meal with my sister. I had not been before. We each ordered starters - she had bruschetta diavola and I had pizza messicana. Both portions were very generous indeed and tatsty. We could have shared a starter and it would have been plenty. We noticed others diners were sharing starters - they had obviously been before! You are also given a bread basket. For mains my sister had a pasta which she couldn't finish and I had pollo diavola. Again a generous portion with lovely side veggies included in the price. Really friendly, nice atmosphere. A lovely evening out. We could also hear ourselves speak. You need to leave your tip at the table (if you are leaving a tip) as there is no facility to top up the amount when you use your card. I will be back.

I ate at Mario's again last week after an absence of 15 months. I went with my sister-in-law again and her friend. I had reserved a table and it was right near a window looking out onto the street. Our wine came right away and was delicious. The meals were not too enormous (think portion control) and came hot from the kitchen. I ordered the Calamari Frittati as my appetizer, which was done just right. My pasta dish (name escapes me now) had baby shrimps in it and was perfect. My sister-in-law loves lasagne and was not disappointed with the one she was served. Her firend ordered a chicken cutlet with trimmings and he liked his meal too. We went on Thursday and many other people came with children as there were many specials available. Everyone had a good time, I am sure!
