We were totally happy with our experience at Allora, which we booked on the basis of reviews and travelled across London to visit. Lovely staff, nice atmosphere, very clean yet comfortable. It's old school with proper linen and soft music rather than bare wood and loud beats. The food is old school as well in that it's well cooked and good value.

We just love this restaurant. It is quality through and through and the owner and her staff are delightful. A small but interesting menu, where all four of us had trouble selecting because we were torn between several dishes. Eventually, the girls had crab ravioli and the boys went for venison ragu pasta. Both dishes warranted 5/5. The wine was a very decent Montepulciano. Next, three of us went for the homemade ice cream and sorbets (blood orange sorbet, pistachio and salted caramel to name a few) and one opted for tiramisu. All in all, a super relaxed evening enjoyed by all.

the service was really good. can't complain. cute little place but out of the area of central london. The reason I gave 3* is because I ordered Osso bucco dish with safron risotto. it did not melt in your mouth. the meat was slight tough. it was covered in tomato base sauce almost wondering why they cover a good piece of meat. the risotto was slightly salty. I thought the minestrone soup was good. They even offer you a limon digestive on the house from Sardinia. that definitely kept me warm since it has 30% alcohol!.

A week in London means working with limited time and money to spend in such a foodie-city--this calls for finding the perfect mix of delicious food, great ambience, and a restaurant that captures the spirit of the city. Allora answers that call with a roar! Clearly a neighborhood gem that we were lucky enough to stumble upon, Allora offered absolutely incredible northern Italian fare, the kind of quality you wouldn't expect to find north of Milan, or anywhere near the Thames for that matter. We split a number of plates, and here is the breakdown: the lobster linguini will undoubtedly haunt my dreams for the next few months, with a healthy portion of the buttery crustacean on a thick bed of clearly homemade pasta. The sirloin and potato medallions were also divine, with a perfect portion of tender-cut meat arriving at our table. Ice cream for dessert was the cherry on top of a perfect meal. However, what really made the restaurant stand apart from others was the incomparable service. Forgive the cliche, but you could seriously see the love and passion that the owner had poured into making the restaurant the best it could be, and welcoming restaurant-goers as part of the Allora family--the owner dutifully went around table to table, serving guests herself and chatting with them like an old friend. Unprompted, she brought tiramisu (a "restaurant specialty," and rightfully so, from someone who dislikes the dessert!) because she insisted that we try it, and drank coffee with a table of diners. Beyond the delicious food, which came at a modest price considering the quality and satisfying portion size, this is the best service I have ever received at a restaurant, and for that alone, it was worth the experience. You simply are not treated this way anymore, and it makes all the difference. Cheers to the Allora staff, and if you're looking for a good eat in the St. John's Wood area, this can't be missed!

The atmosphere was great, the staff members were just amazing and the food was even better, I will definitely go there again the next time I want to eat Italian. After the dinner I was expecting a huge bill, but no. A really cheap price considering that everyone ate at least two dishes of high quality Italian food and that they made the cake. We ate here last night (again) and I have been wanting to post a review. This really is a most charming resto, run by a very charming owner with a ready smile. We are immediately relaxed as soon as we walk in and if one needs a little private space there are tables in the back. The food is consistently good and definitely up-market Italian without a big price tag. Venison, beef, sea bass, posh pastas, brilliant veg, all is covered (though not every day). If you drink wine, do not go for the usual and try the Sicilian wines both red and white; excellent and different. There must be six or eight wines available by the glass and if one drinks white and one drinks red, then both parties are happy! Last night for two courses with a couple of glasses wine, we spent about £55 for a meal we could not have cooked at home. It really is a class above ordinary restos.

A delightful little eatery boasting Sicilian Chefs in its kitchen. Very Italian with projected images on the wall of all the amazing Italian Film stars through the ages. Opera is played and the atmosphere is excellent. The wines, too, are very good. On the surface the menu reads splendidly but in reality the food lacked flavour. They offer a very reasonable set lunch for £13 - but I'd rather pay a little more and receive a better meal.Summer Minestrone should not eat like water. It needs some pasta bulk to give it thickness. And seasoning would not go amiss. There was a distinct lack of real stock in the making.Bresaola was hard - probably left in the warm - or in storage without proper covering. Whatever the reason it was impossible to eat and the portion far to large. (Dare I suggest 4 slices with rocket, a grating of fresh parmesan and a drizzle of truffle oil - or plain olive oil, with a touch of rock salt and black pepper to do the trick).I truly believe this eatery can pull up very quickly if it just examines the flavouring and 'finesse' needed.I wish it luck.

One of most favourite, favourite, hideaways. Great for a pre-cinema sensational pasta or the full-blown relaxing dinner. Fabulous food, excellent and affordable wines, attentive and friendly service and the most delightful, tranquil ambiance. This northern Italian restaurant is hidden away on Boundary Road (off the Abbey Road) and should not be missed. The pastas are to die for, the best risotto in London, and the fish and sea food dishes are magnificent. This ignores my personal favourite, the Osso Buco. The attentive service goes further than just at the table and on our most recent visit, my wife forgot her glasses. The patron knew we were on our way to the cinema and got ij her car and chased us up the Boundary road to hand deliver the glasses. Quite amazing. As already said...... great quisine, with an amazing menu. Not to be missed.

Went recently with friends having been keen to try for a while as we live not far away. This is a good local Italian restaurant - far from exceptional but well above average and worth having on be roster for local restaurants for a night out. I had fish for both courses and it was good enough but my main was slightly overcooked. Others had a variety of things including chicken Milanese which was generous in size but perhaps a bit dry. Service was good if a bit low key/lacking in a bit of enthusiasm - just felt a little lacking in energy and this filtered through to the feel of the room - just a bit short of atmosphere despite being reasonably full. Reasonable value but not cheap by any stretch. Those qualifications aside, would go back and give it another go - it definitely crossed that hurdle.

Went here with the family (4 of us) for a midweek dinner. We had a range of starters and pasta main courses. All excellent. All the pastas (gnocchi, spaghetti, ravioli) were cooked to al dente perfection. The spaghetti al'arrabiatta was truly lovely....a good amount of hot chilli in a lovely tomato-based sauce. The service was good - we had a nice chat with the owner (Mozhy) and were very well taken care of: one of our children wanted ravioli and even though it wasn't on the menu, the chef made it fresh for us. The house wines were lovely - we had the Nero d'Avola. We didn't make it to dessert because we were so stuffed by that stage, but the sorbets sounded interesting (apple, lemon and mango). We will definitely be going again. Lovely food, lovely owner and decent staff...and a great idea to have a projection wall showing black and white pictures of movie stars from the 50s and 60s. And finally, excellent value for money. To be honest, they could easily raise the prices - the restaurant is still relatively new (opened a year ago) so I assume that's why the prices are being kept low, given the extremely high quality of food.

This fantastic place is one of Londons hidden gems. The food is simply fantastic. The service is attentive and welcoming, and the price very reasonable. If you are in the area you must visit. It is only 4 minutes walk from the Marriott hotel.

No, I wasn't lost and wandering this far away from central London. It was a birthday of a friend of a friend and I got invited and as my reward got some house-made gnocchi - flavorful and soft. Wouldn't recommend the crab ravioli - not nearly as well done as the gnocchi. Attentive service, good flavors, decent pricing.

Gnocchi amazing!!! Service is good and nice setting. Good for large parties as well as for two people. House wine not bad and prices good. The veal ossobuco was a bit chewy.

One of the few really authentic restaurants in London. A real gem. Have been on several occasions and have never been disappointed. Excellent service -wonderful staff - and an owner who really cares about her diners. Nothing is too much trouble.Would highly recommend to all who enjoy authentic Italian food.

This was the fourth time in a year we have visited the restaurant and received, as usual, a warm welcome, attentive service and great food. For almost central London the prices are not unreasonable. The staff went out of their way to amend set dishes for one of our party who has always been inclined to want to change ingredients. This was done with no hassle and a smile. Great!

All the favourable reviews about this cosy restaurant are spot on in terms of how lovely and caring the owner is; a truly wonderful human being. The atmosphere is very romantic and civilized; just like Italy itself. The food here is on the whole good, but not amazing.Best minestrone soup I've ever tasted; had almost a buttery flavour; full of vegetables. Fried calamari starter had none of the special favour that you get in Italy and Spain; not worth ordering as much better elsewhere even in London.Main courses of duck and osso bucco were very good, although they arrived at the table lukewarm.Pasta dishes were very flavoursome; lovely!Desserts nothing special at all, although beautifully presented. The service was very friendly, but not terribly efficient (I won't say chaotic; that would be exaggerating.) Orders didn't come at the same time and one of our party had to wait 15 minutes for hers while the others had to wait so long for their side dishes, their meals got cold. I know it's a family-run restaurant, but these things need to be got right; it's not so difficult to achieve.Also...and I don't want to be too fussy here...but it always puts me off a bit when waiters have not been professionally trained (like they are in Franco's, Jermyn Street). In a small restaurant they should know what each person has ordered and not have to ask who is having what. This is something the owner could rectify immediately. I know it's not that important, but why not do it? It's so simple.I am trying to be constructive here because we all really liked this place and admire what the owner is trying to do. I hope she takes on board the points I and others have made because I very much look forward to coming back soon.

“Allora” è un raffinato ristorante di quartiere in cui si può degustare una cucina di ottima qualità, fedele alle tradizioni gastronomiche dell’Italia del del Nord. Il locale è sobriamente elegante ed il servizio molto affabile.

This restaurant is by far one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever come across in London or anywhere else in the world for that matter. Food is absolutely delicious, unpretentious and well presented and the service is outstanding, and both the owner and staff make you feel extremely welcome and almost like you we're visiting in someone's home. My husband and I have visited two times now and will most definitely be coming back! Can highly recommend Allora, and only worry that this place will soon become so popular that it you'll have to queue for a table.

This restaurant is quite delightful. The atmosphere and decoration is really good and the owner is most welcoming. The food is excellent and wonderfully presented. Everything is homemade - even the ice-cream and sorbet and the bread. We had soup (2 different types were offered) and Parma ham to start. For main course, 2 of us had lamb - which was absolutely gorgeous and also salmon. Everything tasted superb. (I am running out of adjectives to describe this place!!!!)The homemade ice-cream was wonderful too and we would highly recommend trying this restaurant.

I said that we would be going back in my last review. We did, with a party of 19 for a family birthday. We were very pleased that we chose Allora for the event. I am sure we will be back again. The food was as good Italian as you will get in North London, excellent! The birthday cake was really something special. The welcome from Mozhy and her staff was personal and warm, the tables had been decorated beautifully with flowers and birthday bits. The service was professional, correct and discrete as it should be. The waiting staff were very good at anticipating our needs. No untrained amateurs here!We had selected a special menu from the main list. It represented very good value for money.I recommend Allora to anybody who wants exceptional food served with good old fashioned service at a good price.

Family run cafe since 1981 in a lovely setting, we stopped only for afternoon tea but the food looked good. Friendly service.

A total rip off! Admittedly, this is a tapas bar so to be expected but the quantities served barely amount to £15 on the £75 menu, The presentation was certainly not refined to reflect the price, As for the desserts, nothing was fresh to the point that someone in our party even spat out the cheese cake, Just looking at the menu I did expect it to be disappointing and it lived to its expectations.

This is the first Italian deli in London. Great charcuterie and cheeses and coffee. There is also pizza and pasta. Very down to earth.
